Lily Young grew up in a small town of Queensbury, England, with her parents, older brother and cat. Her father worked for the Ministry of Magic and would answer any of her questions about the magical world. While her mother, a librarian, would give her her first book and encourage her to read anything she liked. Between the relaxing calm of reading and the wildness of the forest, Lily was constantly learning. Whether it was memorizing stories, sketching nature, running around her town to find new hideouts or magical views of nature, or reading every book she could find. Most of her childhood was spent curled up in a tree with her cat, book in hand as the world got dark. She would often lean against the rough bark, listen to the wind flowing through the leaves and feel as if she were a part of nature. Her older brother sometimes teased her for being too quiet, but he also let her bury herself in his old adventure books and was the one who taught her how to climb safely, which only deepened her need for the outdoors. Her early education came from stories, family lessons and quiet hours spent in her mother's library, surrounded by magical texts and explanations. Her first act of magic at seven, when she freed a bird trapped by thorns, deepened her fascination with how magic and nature intertwined.
First Instance of Magic:

When Lily was 7, she was out exploring in the forest and saw a bird stuck in a rose bush. Reaching in to help the bird she hit the thorns, the thorns hurt, and as she stepped away in pain the branches started moving on their own. She blinked, not believing her eyes. It created a path for the bird to fly out. In disbelief she went straight back to tell her mother, who was delighted for her.

- Based on this Blood Status lore, your character was raised in a completely magical household with little to no exposure to the Muggle world. This means, being schooled in Muggle school wouldn't be possible since this would give her a big exposure to Muggle world. Please edit this. You might want to read the lore about Wizarding children's education options for further information.

Born into a lower middle class muggle family living in the suburbs of London, Ezra had an average childhood. His father worked at sea and was rarely home, so he spent most of his childhood with his mother and after he turned 7, with his younger sister Linnet. He went to public school but grew up pretty seclusively, never really socialising unless somebody else approached him first, he observed others behaviour but never engaged.
His father is a kind man, Ezra always appreciates his calm and comforting demeanour. He was always there as a figure to help him up when he fell and bandage his bruises. He was surprised to find out his son was magical, but did his best to support him and guide him. He had asked the difficult and obvious questions so Ezra didn't have to, and made sure his son had a good understanding of what he was getting into.
His mother always struggled managing two children by herself, and even thought she tried to bury it Ezra noticed the resentment she has for his father for leaving her by herself. She dismissed his magic as 'just another strange parental experience', too tired to make too much of it. She left sorting Ezra out to her husband and focused on her work and taking care of his sister.
His maternal grandfather lived with them. He was a quiet man, who spent most of his time sitting in a rocking chair and staring out of a window. He didn't used to be like that, but Ezra had few memories of his grandfather before his grandmother died. After that he was never the same. Ezra often enjoyed sitting by his side in silence, occasionally asking questions that were never answered. They never visited his paternal grandparents, he was often curious about them. His favourite family member, the one he would miss the most, was his dog Tobias, a large black Labrador. Tobias never required much looking after from his mother, Ezra enjoyed doing everything. He would feed, bath and play with him. Whenever he wasn't watching his sister, Ezra was with Tobias.
When Ezra first encountered his own magic, he dismissed it as a freaky coincidence or a miracle. He never thought it was him who had done the miraculous thing. When he received his letter from Hogwarts, he was confused and anxious. But eventually, after further explanations and guidance from the staff at Hogwarts, he grew intrigued about the wizarding world and became excited to be a part of it.

His first instance with magic was when he was around 5 years old. He has been growing a houseplant for a few weeks and devoted all his free time to doting over it and talking with it. He often has encouraged it to grow faster and could hold long conversations with his plant. Upon returning from a month long trip, he burst into tears when he realised he has unintentionally killed his plant. He weeped, refusing to calm down as his parents tried to comfort him. He blamed himself for the loss of his best friend and the guilt from such a small mistake became unbearable. His plant came alive grew with unnatural speed. It towered above him almost like a tree. He cleared the tears from his eyes, and looked up at his creation. Ezra erupted into a fit of giggles.

Character Special Race/Talent: Evasive Maneuvers
Character Backstory:
Paul was born in Scotland, on the outskirts of Edinburgh where his family still lives, into a family of a cardiologist and a football coach. He has one sibling - a younger sister called Pippa. His mum and dad have a nice relationship, mainly because Paul's mum is often travelling with her football team, and their dad is spending a lot of time at work. The kids, therefore, had to learn to be at least partly independent, to take care of themselves when their parents aren't at home. That is where he has the practical thinking from.
They live in a family house with a garden, where both Paul and his sister were spending most of their after-school time, playing football and other sports, or doing a variety of activities. That's where he has the love for the outside from.
Their grandmas often came from London to help look after the kids, especially when they were younger. Paul's first instance of magic is actually connected with one of the grandma's visits.
Paul started attending a Muggle primary school when he was 5. His favourite subjects were the practical, logical ones, like Maths and Chemistry, which he didn’t have to study for a lot. He really has no talent whatsoever for languages and art. Sports, on the other hand (especially football), he is exceptionally good at.
First Instance of Magic:
It was on Easter that his grandma visited, when Paul was five years old. His sister, whose teeth were growing back then, started crying, which made Paul, who was helping his grandma with Easter cookies, very uncomfortable. After several minutes of her crying, Paul somehow managed to make a closed packet of raisins burst and cover whole kitchen floor.
His grandma, seeing everything, was shocked, sharing the information to his parents.

Born in the city of Cambridge on the 23rd of August 2014, Andrea Woodsburn grew up in a quiet yet loving home filled with many books and a beautiful garden. As the daughter of two busy Aurors, she was granted everything she could ever want, but being home alone too often taught her how to be independent from a young age. Instead of being loud and spoiled, she spent her days reading her favorite stories, caring for plants in the garden, and baking treats in the kitchen—with the help of her house elves.
This calm lifestyle turned Andrea into a very observant person. She never feels to be the center of attention in a room; preferring to sit back, listen, and watch her surroundings. Because she spends so much time reading, she has become quite smart and developed a witty sense of humor. She has this calm presence that always seems to attract the right kind of people, even if they see her as somewhat distant. She’s just busy thinking and understanding the world around her.
Even though she is usually a quiet person, Andrea is never afraid to speak her mind when needed. She has a very strong heart and hates when things are unfair. If she sees someone being treated badly, she won’t hesitate to stand up for them. She is someone who truly enjoys her own company but also cares deeply about doing the right thing for others. She stays humble and kind, no matter what.
When Andrea received her Hogwarts letter, her parents were nothing short of proud. Of course, they had already anticipated it considering they went to Hogwarts as well, but seeing their little girl finally have the opportunity to grow as a witch touched their hearts. They had stayed supportive all throughout her pre-Hogwarts journey; telling her stories of their experiences and helping her with her supplies. It's safe to say Andrea Woodsburn was ready for Hogwarts.

One evening, Andrea’s parents had come home early. She was ecstatic and immediately accompanied her father in his study while her mother made snacks. As both father and daughter talked, Mr. Woodsburn had accidentally knocked over a small glass vial. Andrea reached out to grab it, only for it to float mid-air. She gasped and retracted her hand, yet the glass vial landed safely on the floor. Her mother had seen the entire thing and praised her along with her father. This memory—Andrea discovering her magic at 5 years old—has been etched into their minds for the rest of their lives.

Character backstory:
Demelza's parents are Matthew Rookwood and Penelope Rookwood (neé Alba). Matthew was born to a muggle family belonging to the high class, he worked his way up the career ladder in the early 2000's. He belongs to Westminster in Central London, and works as a corporate banker.
Penelope, however, first completed her education at Hogwarts and graduated. However, after being exposed to the muggle life once, she enjoyed it so much, that she ended up becoming a waitress at a clumsy diner in Westminster. Well, since old habits die hard, she secretly uses magic (whilst being alone) to ease up the task. Her father, Theodore Alba was a wizard. She met Matthew in a restaurant during her shift and they fell in love. Both, by blood, are Scottish.
Their first child, Demelza Rookwood, was born on 8th December, 2013, in a fairly hospital in London. A very smart child, she uttered her first word ('money') at the age of one, started reading books at 2, and began playing chess, muggle chess at the time, at 3. Her parents regarded her as a prodigy. Perhaps that is where her slight arrogance comes from.
She had a normal, loving childhood at her home in Westminster with her parents. Her sister was born when she was 7. Both of her parents were always busy with their jobs, so while Demelza was still a very small child, her aunt had come to assist them. Her aunt, Maudie Alba, is a witch herself, having attended Hogwarts with her sister Penelope, and being sorted in the same house, Gryffindor. Hence, she has a close relationship with her niece.
Her daughter, Madelline, was aware of the existence of magic, and tried to manifest it herself, but the truth was clear- she did not have magic within her. So when the news of Demelza being a witch broke out in the family, she closed her ties with her cousin out of jealousy.
However, this story had a violent end. During a family party at Maudie's house in Kent, they were ambushed by the Dark Wizards of a terror group. Most of the family hid to safety, however, Theodore Alba was already ailing, and they caught him. Demelza was 10. The incident had scarred her for life. Those wizards ended up killing her beloved grandfather, and left the house swiftly. She saw every bit of it. It was so traumatic, that any mention of Kent or her grandfather would give her nightmares. The entire family was scarred. Penelope did not eat for days. She almost left her job, if it were not for the support of her husband. What's worse, was that she had a recognised those wizards from her school days. They were her classmates, from Slytherin. This led to paranoia, and her thinking that Slytherin meant evil and bad luck. Penelope made it clear to impart those qualities within her daughter that would not let her get sorted, by the Sorting Hat, to Slytherin.
But Demelza ended up in Slytherin anyway.

First Instance of Magic:
As years passed by, Demelza showed further signs of intelligence, learnt both the violin and the harp, and the teachers at her muggle school were severely impressed by her grades. When she was 9, to further develop her skills, her math teacher had given her a tough homework to solve. She sought the help of her father, who accompanied her in the solving. In frustration, she bit the tip of pencil, only for it to change her life! The brown pencil had turned pink, and Mr. Rookwood barely believed his eyes. He called his wife. Penelope stood there, smiling, knowing exactly what it meant.

STATUS: Pending, Lesmana, 10 April
Reason for Pending:
- It seems Penelope was working in a Muggle corporate bank. This isn't possible. Penelope is a witch and a graduate from Hogwarts. Penelope wouldn't have a credible and checkable educational background document to apply in a Muggle workplace. Muggle and Wizarding system, cultures and technologies are also very different. Please (1) edit Penelope's work to match her blood status and (2) edit how Penelope and Matthew met to match the changes from number (1). If being a banker couldn't be changed, Gringotts is the only option available for the choice (at this moment) since it is the only Wizarding bank in Great Britain
- Please separate the First Instance of Magic part from the Backstory in this application.
STATUS: Pending, Lesmana, 17 April
Reason for Pending:
- The part about both parents being muggle bankers is still in the first paragraph in the backstory.
- Please put the First Instance of Magic in your encyclopedia page.

The ability to speak to snakes wasn't a common talent even in the magical world, and for the Varen family, it was a secret buried under layers of family history and conflicts. For generations, the Varen family lived as a quiet, unassuming wizarding family, unaware that the blood of Parselmouth is still running in their veins. The gift had been gone for generations, skipping over grandfathers and aunties alike, until it finally manifested in Arin. It was as if the gift was searching for a worthy one. The family history suggests that the last surviving ancestor to have the "Serpent's Tongue" lived on the marshy edges of some forgotten estate.
For Arin, the discovery of this gift was as natural as breathing, which made it more eerie for him to know that others can't hear or understand them. The first instance occurred when Arin was barely four years old, during a summer afternoon in the overgrown gardens of their now estranged manor in France. He had been exploring the tall grasses near the stone walls when he encountered a Montpellier. To any other child, it would be the scariest moment, but to Arin, it was a conversation.
He didn't hear hisses or rhythmic clicking; he heard a voice, dry, rasping, and oddly formal. The snake was complaining about not getting enough sun and the lack of field mice in the area. Without thinking, Arin replied that in the basements, the maids had recently put rat traps, where the snake could find its food. It wasn't until his mother, watching from a distance, dropped her porcelain teacup that Arin realised something was wrong. To her, her son wasn't speaking English; he was making low, hissing sounds.
The realisation sent a shock throughout the household. While the Varens were not a 'dark' family, they understood the stigma attached to Parseltongue. They quickly moved to keep Arin's gift a secret, instructing him to never speak to those "crawling things" in the presence of anyone. However, for Arin, the gift became a source of quiet companionship. He found that snakes have a talent for noticing things that humans can never notice. They were observant, blunt, and saw the world through survival. When Arin moved to England, the change of language became a burden to him. Sounds that existed in one didn't exist in the other. But Parseltongue was something that felt more natural to him than any other language he would learn.
The move to England brought more complexity to his secret. While he struggled to adapt his tongue to the sharp vowels of English, the snakes in his garden spoke the dialects that felt more familiar to him than French. He spent his final summer before Hogwarts wandering the woods near his new manor. Finding adders and grass snakes
hiding behind ferns. Rather than making actual friends, he found comfort in the company of serpents. For everyone else, Arin was a quiet little boy who never made a sound too loud, but only the snakes behind his house know how much he talks in his broken language.
To Arin, being a Parselmouth isn't a dark omen, but it was a piece of his heritage. And something that makes him, him, and not just a Varen. But Arin.

hiding behind ferns.
But Arin.

Arin was born in Rouen, Paris, to an aristocratic French pureblood line. His father, Aurélien Varen, was a former employee in the French Ministry of Magic. His mother, Sylvie Varen, is a healer who, after relocating, works in St. Mungo's. Since childhood, his father has always expected perfection from him, which has put a lot of pressure on him. But his mother was always there to welcome him with a warm cup of tea and hugs. That doesn't mean he was close to his mother. He used to, until he started noticing how his mother never sided with him in front of his dad. This left a subtle doubt in him. When his family moved to England when he was four years old, so for him, English became more of his first language. But in his house, speaking French was mandatory. Though he wasn't fully fluent in either French or English, he could still converse in them without hesitating.
When Arin first received his Hogwarts letter, he felt lost. He knew Hogwarts was the equivalent of the French Wizarding School 'Beauxbatons', but other than that, he knew nothing about it. Both of his parents studied in Beauxbatons, and he would have too if they hadn't moved here. On the other hand, he was glad, since his parents weren't from Hogwarts, he didn't have to be their shadow. He could only be known as Arin.

Arin's first accidental magic occurred when he was six, during a rare moment when his emotions actually overran him. He had spent hours building a careful arrangement of wooden blocks — a little city he refused to let anyone touch. When one of his older cousins knocked it over by accident, the shock hit him so sharply that he didn’t even have time to cry. Every block in the room shot upward, whirling into the air like a miniature storm. Books snapped open on their own, parchment scattered, and the curtains wrapped tightly around themselves as if caught in a wind no one else could feel. Arin stood in the middle of it, trembling, watching his own chaos with wide eyes. The moment lasted only seconds before everything crashed back to the floor.

Edwina was born to Claire and Mark Whitehead on April 3, 2014 in Manchester, England. She was an only child, though she really wanted a younger sibling. Her parents loved and cared for her from the day she was born. Sometimes her father's mother, Amanda, paid a visit. Although she had a grumpy personality, she never refused to spend time with Edwina or give her an extra piece of candy before her parents could see it.
When Edwina was just a little girl, she often went with her parents to her mother's hometown, Uppermill, to visit other relatives. It was Edwina's favourite place. Grandparents' small cottage smelled like honey and apple pie and was always bathed in sunlight. All her childhood she was running around through gardens and fields with brown border collie Bennie until the sunset.
Edwina went to an ordinary school in Manchester, but it was evident from the first classes that she was not as interested at math or biology as sports. She liked different activities and was always participating in everything she could. Despite this, Edwina was not the worst in her class. She was a smart child and when necessary, studied diligently, but otherwise she had slightly different priorities.
Her mother was unemployed for a long time, so it was her, who cooked, cleaned the house and brought up Edwina most of the time. She helped her with her homework, but in the process was stricter than usual, so Edwina did not really like that time spent. Since 2023 she had returned to work as an HR-manager in another company.
Her father was a football coach for a local team. He was not really successful, but he liked his job. He was the one who instilled in Edwina a love of sports and constantly spent active time with her. For Edwina's 6th birthday, he gifted her a football, hoping that she might want to pursue this career later. Despite that, Edwina was not interested in football any more than in the other sports.
Her parents bought her phone quite late and most of the time controlled the use of it, so she had a really limited knowledge of Internet. Therefore, she sometimes did not understand what her peers were saying, until her friends explained.
From the first year of school Edwina befriended three kids: Maria Brown, Leo Wilson and Noah Fletcher. The four of them was an inseparable team. Every summer they hung out as often as possible and some teachers did not like them, because they never paid attention in class if they were together.

Since her nine Edwina became a target of bulling from the other pupil - a girl from her class who transferred to their school later, Christy Myers. Edwina and her friends tried to ignore her, but it was not possible to ignore everything. When Edwina turned ten, on her birthday Christy and other mean girls annoyed her all day: pulled on her hair, when teacher was not looking, grabbed things from her and did not give back, tripped her up. Her friends said that that was only to make her angry so she tried to stay calm as much as she could. But when she received a note in her last lesson in which Christy made fun of her mother, Edwina felt like she might explode with anger.
At the same moment, her notebook caught on fire by itself. With the quick reaction of a teacher, a larger fire or injuries to the students were avoided and it extinguished quickly. However, Edwina was severely reprimanded both at school and at home for using a lighter, despite her efforts to convince that she did not have one. Nobody, except her friends, believed her, but either way everybody seemed to quickly forget about the incident and it was never brought up again.

Born on December 12, 2013, in Indonesia, Blythe is a socially confident systems thinker who values order, skill, and balance (except at a personal level). She lived most of her childhood with her mother as her father remained in his hometown overseas. Her father, Aurelius Gallagher, is a wizard-born passionate about educating Blythe in wizardry and the magical Olympics, while her mother, Espen J. Gallagher, is an Indonesian Muggle who distrusts wizardry and magic.
Blythe spent nine years in the green mountains of Puncak Bogor, Indonesia, before moving to Harlow, England, which is her father’s hometown. In Indonesia, Blythe lives with her mother and surrounds herself with the village kids, finding adventure and inspiration through fields of tea plantations and foggy forests. She excelled in a Muggle school, especially in certain subjects such as art, science, and physical education. Blythe developed an attraction to a particular chapter of her art subject, animation, which grew into a passion her mother supported. Since she is a creative person who spent more time with her mother, she used to doodle or daydream wherever she went.
Cartoons were her most recent fascination with animations, she’d create small projects regarding cartoons and animations on her tablet and sometimes her mother’s computer for a more complex form. Certain moves she couldn't visualize were captured by her own as a video for reference. Projects stacked quickly, and she was soon certain she wanted a future in the entertainment industry.
Blythe’s mother couldn't handle her daughter's first instance of magic, fearing the worst results when handling it herself. After a year or so, they came to the decision to immigrate to Harlow to involve the father. After moving to Harlow, she is surrounded by vast green fields that provide a healthy environment for her to grow. She often finds joy watching the clouds shift and running with her town friends. Harlow is beginning a stronger relationship with her father, as now she talks face-to-face rather than via video calls. Here, she develops her competitive nature as well as her athletic skills.
With her father around, Blythe spends quality time with him by playing competitive sports. She was also familiarized with Quidditch, a magical sport her father specializes in. It interested Blythe to a point of want, not just a mere understanding, she wants to play.
After she immigrated to Harlow, her parents may have had disagreements oftentimes, especially since she’s a child of two worlds. It was difficult for her to comprehend whose right and whose wrong, because in the end, every argument concludes with nothing. It leaves Blythe without answers, but it also taught her to be assertive and independent with her options.

Second grade, 8 years old, Blythe had a mathematics test. To her, math is an easy subject, if the question asks her to add numbers, then add, if the question asks her to subtract, then subtract. There is always a formula in math that’s easy to remember, addition, subtraction, measurements, data, and even simple geometry. Sure, it took her a long time to count, but she always understood the functions and processes for every question. Her overconfident character underestimated the subject’s difficulty, she didn't listen to class, didn't study, and didn't even bother to stay awake during instructions. Because of this, her result was below par, no amount of words could describe how ugly that score is. To add salt to her wound, her classmates took notice of her test paper and the score written on it in red ink. So, like any other person with a wounded ego, Blythe sat on her desk away from everyone. As she fumed in irritation, the paper had suddenly caught fire without a particular reason, and the moment her classmates noticed and screamed, the fire sprinkler went off. With everyone in class drenched and the teacher shocked, Blythe made up a story that she was using a magnifying glass to jokingly burn an ant on her paper with the sun ray that bled through the windows, which caused the fire. The conveniently placed seating arrangement covers that.

Luna Polaris was born at night on April 03, 2014 to Elizabeth and Michael Polaris, who are both muggles. When she was one year old, her brother, Ethan, was born. From the beginning, Luna and Ethan were extremely close, always doing anything and everything together. They always followed each other around the house and constantly could be found spending time together.
Luna was enrolled in a muggle elementary school when she was five years old. Throughout the years in school, she did so well in her academics that she got deemed a “gifted kid”. Elizabeth and Michael were extremely proud of her for being so smart.
Though, this had some unseen repercussions. Luna put a lot of pressure on herself to continue doing well in her classes, not wanting to disappoint her teachers nor her parents. This made her anxiety more extreme.
She would also get bullied at school and be left out during recess. However, she did have one close friend, Kieran. The two of them often went to Luna’s home after school and completed their homework before playing until Kieran had to go home. They were as close as sisters.
Luna continued doing well in Muggle elementary school when, on her eleventh birthday, she received a strange letter. The letter welcomed her to a school she had never heard of before. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

When she is around the age of eight years old, during an extreme anxiety attack which was caused by school stress, Luna is in the corner of her room curled in a tight ball. She is rocking back and forth, hugging her knees tightly to her chest when her stuffed animals begin levitating around her. As soon as she notices them floating, they fall to the ground. She stares at her stuffed animals, sniffling and shocked. She doesn't know what just happened and so keeps it a secret from her parents, brother, and best friend.
