Character Backstory: Haeli is a hard worker. She loves anything to do with studies, and she cares about how everything she does reflects back on her as a person and her as a student. She is very grateful for every opportunity that comes her way. She likes to be viewed as a leader, problem solver, and loyal friend. She loves anything that is outside. She is adventurous and simply loves nature. Her hobbies are reading and drawing. Overall, she is a very happy person; she never goes anywhere without a smile on her face. Haeli lives with her very loving grandmother. Her father died from a car accident when she was a young girl, and her mother has to spend a lot of time away. Her father was a Muggle who worked tirelessly to provide for Haeli. Her mother is a witch who works with dragons in Romania. Whenever Haeli was first born, her mother and father had a sit-down and decided that it would be best for Haeli to live with her Muggle father. This way, if she didn't want to be a witch, she didn't have to, and she would be safe from her mother's dangerous work. They also decided that if anything ever happened to her father, she would go to her father's mother, her grandmother. So with this, Haeli lives with her grandmother, and she goes to Muggle school. She enjoys school, but most of the people can be rude most of the time. She is popular at her school, but she doesn't have very many close friends. She hasn’t found anyone at her Muggle school that she feels comfortable with enough for them to know her like a best friend or sister would. She hopes that it will all be different at Hogwarts.
First Instance of Magic: Haeli was 7 when she had her first magical experience. She was walking home from school on a sunny day. It was quiet out, and no one was around, when suddenly a bully from the year above her came out of a wooded bush area. He demanded that she give him any money that she might have with her. At the time, she had no money on her, and when she said that, the bully got mad and pushed her to the ground. He pulled back his leg so he could kick her while she was still on the ground. Haeli felt nothing but fear and dread for what was about to come. She closed her eyes, but when she did not feel the kick come, opened them. She sat there in awe. The bully couldn't kick her. It was like there was an invisible barrier between them. The bully ended up getting scared and running away. He later told everyone in the school that she was a freak and that they needed to stay away from her. No one listened to him, though, and that's when she started to get popular.
Prove them wrong. Twice.

Ellaine was the firstborn child of Tarquin and Cynthia (née Willows) Weatherby, born in the town of Kesgrave, England. Her father was a risk officer, a Muggle, while her mother was a Ministry worker — and a Half-blood. (What she understood from later talks was that they had met during their university years, as her mother had chosen to attain a Bachelor's Degree after her graduation from Hogwarts.) Two years later, her brother Henry was born, and after another five years, Arthur.
The Weatherby household was an average household, and Ellaine considered herself quite privileged. Her parents were protective, and had certain expectations of her, which Ellaine neatly met in academics. All three were enrolled in the local primary school, while Cynthia taught the basics of magic at home. All in all, a fairly normal upbringing, which Ellaine found quietly baffling because she couldn't understand the origin of her own social awkwardness.
The summer before the school year, her parents were vaguely concerned as Ellaine hadn't shown dramatic acts of magic the way her mother had. (They had another plan, of course, a local Secondary School. They were not going to be disappointed if she hadn't gotten the letter. There was always the Muggle world.) Ellaine herself wasn't quite sure what to feel. She wanted to attend, and made sure to tell herself to expect the worst; yet deep inside she believed the letter would come.
When it did, her parents simply offered their congratulations. No huge celebrations, only a simple dinner outing with her family, just as she liked it. The next day, her mother and she went to Diagon Alley. Along the way, she could only feel excitement — and a dollop of apprehensiveness for what was to come.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Her first instance of magic occurred when she was seven. Little Ellaine, confined to bed, running a fever and nursing a pounding headache — she was understandably miserable. Her brother's (Henry, to be specific) incessant blubbering right next to her only increased her irritability. She wanted to scream.
A moment later, the glass of water that had been sitting on the bedside table (already precariously close to the edge) tipped over the edge, shattering into pieces on the floor. There was a precious few seconds of silence between Ellaine and Henry. They both looked confused. Very much so. (When their mother came in seconds later, Ellaine blanked and fibbed a story of how she meant to take the glass to drink but slipped. Her mother had looked at her askance but hadn’t pressed.)
No one was aware of this bout of magic. Ellaine quickly forgot about it in the haze of her recovery, and Henry didn’t think it odd. Each time this memory came up in her mind, Ellaine only had more and more reasons to imagine that perhaps she had accidentally knocked it over.

Your FIOM appears to be intentional. A first instance of magic should be unitentional, from what you have chosen, it is clear that Ellaine wished for Henry to be quiet. To aid you with this, I would suggest reading through this guide.

Application for metamorphmagus :
Ophélie comes from a pure-blood family, proud of being good sorcerers and proud of the presence of metamorphmagus among them. Indeed, her grandfather is a talented metamorphmagus, wich allowed him to become amazing Auror, as other members of the family, like one of her cousin, Drake (a metamorphmagus) or her father, Everest, who deserved to become one by his hard work. (the Stardusts are known as a prestigious Auror family so they are almost all trying to become one). But Ophélie didn't want an abilitie she cannot control. She didn't want to have to prove herself in front of so many people... But she has to do it. At least for her mother who is so happy that Ophélie inherited a talent she always dreamed to have. And that's what she conviced herself to do after discovering her "gift''. She does not exactly remember what happened when she was a baby but, if she can trully believe what her mother says, she was often changing her nose color. She could turn it electric blue, bright red, dark purple and even grass-green when her emotions were explosing. To prove she deserved her talent and admirative of her well-known grandfather, she trained really hard. It was maybe to much now she thinks about it because she actually never improved when putting so much pressure on herself. Her body was kind of blocking itself when she wanted to change it... She wanted so bad to have green or blue eyes like her cousins ! But her body would never let her do something she wanted of course... Instead, it was only making her face ridiculously bright when she was trying to look persuasive, calm and mature while debating with her parents, because of a surplus of emotions, wich had always deeply annoyed her. But it would not stop her to try. Instead of wanting to look better, she tried to, at least, not to use her talent each time she was angry. With time, she got used to her unexpected transformations and, with the help of her personal institutors, it became easier for her not to change her skin color or the shape of her fingers that kept turning into claws. She continued to train but she lowered her expectations and aimed achievables goals, wich made her improved extraorinary fast. Now, she could control her talent and she saw for the first time her face without her odd empty eyes, she managed to turn them into a beautiful green. It was this experience which trully reconciled her with her legacy. Ophélie is a shy girl who always wanted to go unnoticed, among others. She does not want to talk to strangers and, beeing a metamorphmagus, somehow reflect this character trait. She doesn't want to be under the spotlight and will do everything she can to not be noticed because of her talent. It is the main reason why she trained hardly to control it just before going to hogwarts. It wasn't a big problem for her before, she just tried not to be part of conversations to avoid unwanted body modifications but when she knew her first year at Hogwarts was coming soon, she anticipated her future problems and started to want to control her ability. Now, this is not a source of stress anymore for Ophélie, who is releaved to know she is finally prepared for the school year.
Character Backstory:
Before Hogwarts
Born in a pure-blood family, who lives in the countryside, near Cambridge, she is forced to always behave perfectly. Even thought the Stardust family is strict and cold, it is also loving, in its own way. She has personal professors who take care of her and her brother as her parents are not often with them, occupied by their work. Everest is an Auror and her mother, Lillian, is judge. Ophélie never experienced any school before going to Hogwarts, it seems to have an incident on her personality because she never had to talk actively to anyone. She sees Hogwarts as a way to make her firsts friends. The death of her brother was a terrible experience she never managed to forget and overcome. She refuses to talk about him since this day (she was about 8 yo).
Alexander was studying to become a healer in St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. His parents disaproved such a waste of talent but they let him do his studies, a great sign of recognition from them. He was accepted by a prestigious academy in London and moved there. Alexander was terribly sweet. After seeing for the first time the living conditions of some muggle, driven by curiosity to discover an unknown world. He was deeply touched by their fate, didn't understand how the magic world could ignore those in need and decided to helped the muggles who where suffering from "incurable" diseases to recover, discreetly. He made them forget his acts with the use or magic. It would be as a miracle for them. One day, he got caught by the Magic Ministry. Thanks to his prestigious family, he wasn't punished too harshly but the Stardust family obviously imediately heard about his transgression. For the majority of them, it was unforgivable and an incomprehensible act. Without the approval of his parents, the most extremists tried to punish him firmly, which ended on his death. Ophélie and her parents don't know what happened exactly to him. The only excuses they were given were about a "punishment" that had gone too far. Now, Lillian and Everest feel guilty for not succeded to protect their son from their own family. They became more protective for their daughter and made her irreproachable from all angles with a firm upbringing when she is in their presence.
Before moving to England, Ophélie lived in France. After Alexander's death, her parents decided to cut ties with what they see as the murderers of their lost son and started a new life in England. She arrived 3 years ago in England, that's why Ophélie still have an accent when talking, even if she made great progress in prononciation.
Her first magic experience
Ophélie's first magic experience happend when she was 8 yo, in her new home in Cambridge, on an ordinary day. She was having dinner with her family, the soup she wanted was too far on the table for her to achieve and her parents were having a debate, they weren't listening to her. The place was loud, the atmosphere, tense and, without even having the time to think about it, the plate started to shake uncontrollably, slightly levitating for a second. Then, the dish fell suddenly, spilling some of its content on the table. It was a happy little incident of the everyday-life that ended the small conflict between her parents and marked the start of her magic learning...

Reason for Pending:
- You need to write at least 500 words for your Metamorphmagus part. Yours is still 468 words. Please write a little bit more. If you haven't read it yet, this lore about Metamorphamagi might give inspiration.
- Metamorphmagus is known as to skip generations. grandfather -> mom -> Ophélie is no no. grandfather -> Ophélie is still possible. Please edit this part.
- Reading from Metamorph part, I guessed the mother's job is an Auror. But we need to know it clearly in the backstory about both parents' jobs and their decision to hide it to make sure there's no lore break. Your character is still okay to not knowing about her parents' job or not getting any explanation from her parents.
- Alexander. (1) How did he access the Muggles? There's International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy that must be kept by all wizards. It's very unlikely for him to randomly treat Muggles after he was accepted into his new academy. Please edit this part or provide further explanation on how this can happen. (2) What authority caught him and judged him to death? I suggest avoiding the term “authority” and related words, since this seems more like a personal or societal issue rather than an institutional one.
- We don't need spells and potions section in the trunk post. Please remove it from your trunk post in your Encyclopedia Page.
STATUS: Pending, Lesmana, 6 March
Reason for Pending:
- We still need the parents' jobs to make sure your character's lore is still in line with the site's lore.
- The spells and potions section in your trunk post hasn't been removed yet.

I'm sorry. There's an oversight on my end.
- First Instance of Magic must happen in the United Kingdom, which is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It's stated that Ophélie lived in France and came to England 2 years ago.
Referring to this guide, readjustment is needed. Please edit or add more details to explain about her first instance of magic in the United Kingdom when she was still in France.

She was born prematurely and her dad cried when he learned Denisse had to stay in the ICU because of the water found in her lungs and she may be in the brink of death. Her parents are of Filipino and Spanish descent. Denisse inherited her father's dimple in her right cheek as well as her fair skin, dark wavy hair, dark brown almond eyes, high bridge nose and round face from both her parents. She first flew a plane to the countryside to where her mother's family lived when she was 5 months old so that her father could focus on studying for the bar exam. Few moments later, her dad graduated from law school. Her father is a lawyer, and her mother works a corporate job. She had a fairly normal childhood, going to a Muggle private school, struggling to find friends at first until she met her soon-to-be lifelong best friend named Sophia at the age of nine. She has a younger brother of 3 years named Dylan and a younger sister of Dahlia of 7 years. They live in a village in an urban city in Cambridge, England. On her elementary school days, she was what you call the "quiet kid" due to her reserved nature. Aside from the fact she likes to keep to herself, she was also known for being kind and sensitive. She's the type who would do acts of service and pet every cat and dog she sees in the street. Her personality may be derived from the environment she grew up in. She witnesses her parents fight sometimes and being excluded from play dates at school. She was also criticized at a young age from her peers and from her parents. Because of this, she naturally became a people-pleaser. She stops complaining, asking for help, what she wants, and whatever she thinks will bother people.
First Instance of Magic: At age nine, she accidentally performed magic for the first time. Together with her best friend, she was meticulously assembling this small model of a Victorian apothecary in this lovely backyard. This hostile neighboring dog suddenly leaps the fence, barking loudly, and charges directly at them. The entire model begins to slide off towards the grass while her friend, terrified, jerks back and strikes the table with her elbow. Seeing her companion in distress and the model on the verge of breaking, she extends her hands trying to save the model. The model freezes in midair, few inches above the ground, inside this azure bubble of light. The model had been placed back in the table. The neighbor chased after the dog, apologized, checked on Sophia, and walked the dog back to his respective yard. With astonished faces from both Denisse and her best friend, that was the moment that her life will start to change forever.

- There's a typo in the birthyear in the backstory.
She first flew a plane to the countryside to where her mother's family lived when she was 1 month old so that her father could focus on studying for the bar exam.It was stated that Dennise was born premature, had to be treated in the NICU for a respiratory problem, and might have been on the brink of death. With a condition described as this severe, doctors and airlines would likely be cautious about allowing air travel so soon. You may want to consider removing this part. If this detail is very important to your character’s lore, you could adjust the timeline so that she was older when the flight happened.- In the First Instance of Magic part, you stated more than one magical effects occuring at once. Only one dramatic piece of evidence of magical ability will be recorded by the Quill of Acceptance and the Book of Admittance. Please pick one out of the four instances you have stated and remove the rest.

Character Backstory:ReducioSabrina was born into two very different worlds.
Her mother, a highly respected healer at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, was brilliant, disciplined, and deeply ambitious, not only for herself, but for her daughter as well. From an early age, Sabrina was surrounded by high expectations, subtle comparisons, and constant critique. Excellence was assumed. Mistakes were remembered.
Her father, a Muggle architect, believed in structure, logic, and hard work above all else. He viewed magic with skepticism, sometimes even quiet disdain, considering it an easy way out rather than something to admire. While he wasn’t unkind, he was emotionally distant and firm in his beliefs. Magic was not always tolerated in the household.
Growing up in a half-blood family meant growing up between tension. Her parents’ differences were rarely explosive, but always present. A quiet divide that filled the house with cold politeness rather than warmth. Both were busy, career-driven, and demanding in their own ways. Praise was scarce. Expectations were not.
As a child, Sabrina learned to observe before speaking, to achieve before asking, and to stay quiet rather than risk disapproval. She became hyper-aware of tone shifts, body language, and subtle emotional changes... not out of curiosity, but necessity. She tried to excel to make her mother proud, and to appear practical and grounded to satisfy her father. Yet no matter how hard she worked, she often felt like she was falling short in both worlds.
She grew up feeling unseen. Too magical for one side, not exceptional enough for the other. That quiet sense of not belonging shaped her deeply, planting the seeds of independence, emotional sensitivity, and the longing for a warmer kind of home than the one she knew.
First Instance of Magic:ReducioSabrina’s first accidental display of magic occurred at the age of eight while playing hide and seek at school. After choosing a poor hiding spot and realizing she was about to be found, she instinctively tried to make herself as small and unnoticed as possible, closing her eyes and steadying her breathing.
When the seeker approached and then walked past her without reacting, she quickly realized something unusual had happened. Looking down, she discovered that she had temporarily turned invisible.
The magic faded shortly after, but the incident marked her first clear manifestation of magical ability. Notably, her magic was triggered not by anger or excitement, but by a strong desire not to be seen, an instinct that reflected her already developing tendency to shrink herself in uncomfortable situations.
The event confirmed her magical inheritance, though it also deepened her internal conflict between her parents’ opposing views on magic.

sorry for the boring aestheticsALEX TAVARES ADAMS
Her dad Michael Maxwell Adams is from London and her mum Catarina Kim Tavares is from Portugal and South Korea, but she never visited Portugal because every planned trip to that country was ruined cause of her parents work.
Her Mother is a Pureblood Hufflepuff that works at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Madies and Injuries and her Father is a Muggle-born Gryffindor that Writes on the sports section of Daily Prophet. Really liked Indy Rock and Puerto Rican traditional music. Probably the biggest noodle fanatic in the world!
She lives in London since she was a baby with his three loyal twins, her parents tought them really well. Her and his Twins always were united, and even that they weren't identical Twins, they did lots of things together, even opening the letter. She entered Hogwarts with lots of friends: Harry Adams(twin), Mindy Ross, Justin Adams(twin), Lily Adams(twin) and much more. Lived all her life in the same house, a cozy traditional one. She shared her big bedroom with Lily and Justin shared his bedroom with Harry. She was thought as a Wizard, as both parents went to Hogwarts and found that the quadriplets were really fascinated with curious things. She had several adventures with her friends, discovering the world and solving misteries. They also had a secret sign for when they were happy and united: one of them does his symbol, than they waited untill everyone was doing their symbol. Alex's hand symbol is closing all her hand except the index finger and the middle finger, raising up just that two fingers. She also liked Harry's symbol, that was closing all his name except his thumb and his pinky. They all (Lily, Justin, Harry, Alex and Mindy) had a hole sign and color language for the most important things in their adventures. For example, when they raised their right hand and said 'green' meant that the path was safe, but raising up the left hand and saying 'green' meant it wasn't.
She experienced magic when she was eight, at her school's running competition. She flied two meters when nobody was seeing, but she thought it was just her imagination. She explained that to her parents, though. Her parents are joyful and happy, but in that specific day, they were the proudest in the planet, all their children had had their first instance of Magic.

“Muuuuum!”
Her sister, Isla, darted through the farmhouse, screaming at the top of her lungs as she went in search of their mother. “Mum? Are you in here?” She threw open door after door, sparing barely a glance inside each room before continuing like an uncontrollable tempest of spite and glee.
“Isla, wait!” Poppy pleaded as the older girl barrelled past her to head back down the stairs.
“Mum?” Isla called more deliberately.
A shuffle came from the kitchen, drawing her sister in that direction. All the commotion drew Thorne and Rowan from their rooms, the pair moseying out into the hall to see what had gotten Isla so worked up—this time. Her brother, Thorne, noticed the change first, his eyes growing wide as saucers as he took in the little girl’s appearance.
“Bloody hell, Poppy. Again?” His amusement trickled onto his lips. "Mum will love this one."
The hot pink colour stood in stark contrast to her once golden locks.
Rowan broke into laughter at once, amused by this new ‘bold and daring’ look she assumed Poppy was trying. She hadn’t done it herself—she hadn’t done anything. In fact, she’d been sitting up on the roof, her father’s old camera looped around her neck while she took pictures of the sea of wheat. The little girl had grown lost in thought, mesmerised by the scenery and the depth of feeling it managed to evoke in her.
By the time she got down, her hair was pink and her sister was screaming.
There was no time to explain any of it. There wasn't any point, either. Everyone in the house was convinced that these little moments were small acts of defiance, unwilling to believe her no matter how she tried to plead her case. She needed to get ahead of Isla before she could convince their mother of yet another non-existent rebellion taking place under her roof.
Poppy spun on her heels, bolting down the stairs to the echoed sounds of her brother and sister following behind her. Careful as she tried to be, she hopped them two at a time. It nearly twisted her ankle near the bottom, but the girl managed to find her balance quickly enough.
“What’s all this?” their mother asked, wiping her hands on her soiled apron as she made her way from the kitchen.
“Poppy’s done it again, Mum! This time, it's the brightest shade of pink I’ve ever seen!”
“I didn’t! I didn’t!” Poppy insisted, coming to a stop before the pair with a head full of pink incrimination. It never occurred to her how obvious the answer might have seemed. She was much too fixated on reality as she knew it.
They'd warned her time and time again. They'd tried everything they could think of, but over the years, it only seemed to be getting worse. Her mother was surely at her wit's end. She'd already threatened, on several occasions, to shave it all away if she 'refused to stop changing it'. Once, she'd actually done it, but all it had done was leave the girl with a low buzz cut of bright orange until her embarrassment finally left.
“What do you think you're doing? How many times have we warned you?” her mother demanded, yanking her close by the arm to have a better look.
“N—Nothing, I didn’t—it wasn’t—I was just on the roof taking pictures, and I—” Poppy frantically lifted the camera that hung from her neck, desperate to present evidence that ran contrary to what her mother could see with her own two eyes. How did she make her understand that she couldn't help it?
“And you’ve got the nerve to lie about it?”
“I didn't mean to, I swear! I didn't do anything; it—it just—it happened!” Poppy tried a second time. Inside her chest, her heart hammered away. Each thud boomed and rattled against her small frame until she worried her chest might split right open. “I haven’t—I don’t—I don't know how!”
Even if she did know how her hair kept changing, surely she'd pick something subtler. Highlights maybe or hair that was a little darker – like Evelyn's.
“Mum! Look! She's doing it again! She won't stop!” Isla said, pointing to the crown of Poppy’s head. Their mother’s gaze shifted there seconds before Poppy watched colour fill the woman's face. Crimson anger, all of it for her.
All the while, an eerie bone-white wave spread outward from the roots of her hair, descending on the long strands to envelop the vibrant pink. Terror. Potent and heavy. It filled the girl, manifesting outward for the world to see. It never stopped to ask her permission—never bothered to wonder what might become of her after such a display. It did only as it wanted to until the very tips that hung by her waist were engulfed.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Poppy's personality is best described through her background. Born to parents Alistair and Celeste Grimsbane, she is the fifth of seven children.
In a family so big, where one can easily get lost in the daily grind of farm life and hard work, it was difficult for her to stand out from the crowd. She was the quiet one, the dependable one, the one who remained out with her father on his tractor long after her other siblings had had enough. Poppy had never been scared to get dirty, fixated more on receiving the approval of her father and mother. She helped in their wheat and oat fields, inside their barn, out with the cows and sheep, and in the kitchen – wherever she might earn for herself a "good job, Poppy".
She always enjoyed being out in the fields, feeling the wind whipping through her hair or darting down to the sea with her brothers and sisters. She also enjoyed climbing onto the top of the barn to gain a feeling of being on top of the world.
Around the age of six, she displayed her first instance of magic, alerting her family to the fact that she was “different”.
It was the beginning of the end in such a puritanical family. A witch in their house – the very practice of magic – could only be the work of the devil. The family was deeply religious and even more deeply sceptical of the 'strange' or 'unnatural'.
Her parents worked fiercely to make her “suppress her magic”, trying everything from praise and rewards to punishments that would make even the most stubborn of children yield. They believed that, as nothing else had happened since that day, their efforts were bearing fruit.
When her Hogwarts letter came, her mother wept bitterly for days, realising they had lost the fight and their daughter entirely. At first, they attempted to ignore and even burn the letters but when the fifth owl came, they relented grudgingly to “protect the rest of their children” as they feared things might escalate.
It was around this time that the dynamic between her and her siblings (Rowan, Evelyn, Thorne, Isla, Jasper and Seraphina) began to shift. They grew fearful or jealous – sometimes both – and began excluding her around the farmhouse.
She has since become conflicted about her magical identity and what it might mean for her in the only world she's ever known (the Muggle world).
In late August, the family received news of the death of her uncle (her father's brother) and his wife. This left her cousin, Emil Roan, orphaned, at which point the state began procedures to establish guardianship through her parents. Prior, the family had very little contact with the uncle because of his wife, who her parents said "carried something evil" within her.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Poppy's first instance of magic, at the age of six, was quite remarkable and terrifying all at once. She and her older sisters, Evelyn and Isla, were in the family's barn playing make-believe once they had completed their day of chores. The children had grown excitable at the story they were piecing together, becoming more and more animated with each moment. Poppy, in particular, had grown overly excited, subconsciously willing it all to be real with childhood imagination. She wanted to be in that garden Evelyn described, and imagined herself surrounded by such beauty. In the moment, there was nothing she wanted more, and that want manifested.
Then the flowers began to sprout all over the barn floor. Out of nowhere, a mini garden sprang forth, fitting perfectly with the story her eldest sister had proposed while frightening both girls enough to send them running back into the house to get their mother.
Poppy was delighted at first, not at all wondering where the flowers may have come from or having an inclination that she'd been the one to do it. After all, in her mind, something as abstract as intent could never make something real. She'd simply been having fun with her sisters and had begun to vividly imagine the tales her sister told her without ever knowing that that could be enough for a girl like her.
Their mother banned them all from the barn for a month after that, unable to explain the phenomenon and suspicious that something dark was afoot.

Amari was a pretty happy child. She grew up in London, England. Her mother died during childbirth. She knew this fact before fully understanding what it meant. She was raised by her father, who loved her deeply but still seemed like he had a quiet sadness with him. Their home wasn't unhappy at all, but it felt like a place holding on to something significant. Her father did his best. He learned how to braid hair from books. He sometimes burned dinners. He raised her to be independent, thoughtful, and capable. In a few ways, she grew up fast, usually helping around the house and learning to take care of herself. Her mother’s closest friend, Marigold May Patel, "Auntie May" stayed in her life. Auntie May was a half-blood and connected two worlds. Every weekend, Amari visited her house, where magic and Muggle life intertwined. Because of this, she grew up comfortable in both worlds. She knows how to navigate a city bus route and recognize the sound of a protective charm. She had a few close friends but always kept her circle small. She never liked large crowds. She prefers special connections to popularity. But she wouldn't mind if she was popular! Her father got her a ferret for her 8th birthday after she saw a documentary about them. She named it Nyx, and she absolutely adores it
First Instance of Magic:

Her first instance of magic happened when she was eight. A group of older kids had cornered a younger child at the park, teasing him and refusing to give back his backpack. She didn't know him, but she hated the look on his face. Her hands curled into fists, and she felt something electric rush up her spine. The zipper on the leader’s backpack suddenly burst open. It unzipped violently. Papers and snacks flew out as a small storm picked up. The wind picked up just enough to scatter everything across the playground. No one saw her do anything. She didn't move. The bullies ran away, embarrassed. The younger kid stared at her like she was unreal. She went home with her heart racing, already knowing what it meant. When she told Auntie May that weekend, she didn’t seem surprised. She just smiled and said, “Hm. Took you long enough.” In the months after that, her father began schooling her in basic charms and potions.

Character Backstory:
ReducioFirst Instance of Magic:Scarlet comes from a standard-sized family of four. Her parents had adopted both her and her brother when she was a baby. While they are a bit older than most other parents, they are gentle, supportive, and incredibly kind people. She wouldn't want it any other way! Her father is an environmental scientist, while her mother was a finance advisor before becoming a full-time mother. Scarlet's favorite day of the week was always Sunday because her dad would also take her through the park and teach her something new, whether that be about a type of plant that they found or maybe a bird. Her dad's face would always brighten on these walks, and that made her feel a sense of accomplishment. As for her mother, she instilled in Scarlet a love of travel by doing her best to let her see the world. The family went to almost every country in Europe, America, Canada, and several trips in their own country. Scarlet hopes to continue to see the world and all that it has to offer.
Scarlet's older brother can be a bit rambunctious and impulsive. Many would call them complete opposites, but when they are together, they bring out the best in each other. Her brother would drag her outside to play baseball, tag, or hide and seek. He wanted to get Scarlet out of the comfort of the house and have some fun. She was most appreciative of her brother because he always knew when she needed a bit of fun and when she needed some rest. He could read her like a book, and it felt good to be that understood. Unfortunately, her brother went off to college, so she had been feeling a bit lonely. Without her best friend, the world had grown a bit bored, and Scarlet wished more than anything for a change. She longed to find a connection with people who understood her a bit better than the ones she was surrounded by.
ReducioScarlet's first instance of magic was when she was seven years old. She had been invited to a classmate's birthday party and was super excited! It took her a whole two hours to get all ready, and she had even found the perfect gift for them. Within minutes of arriving at the party, Scarlet realized that no one actually cared if she was there or not. The birthday girl also had failed to inform her that it was a pool party, so Scarlet felt embarrassed being the only person not in a bathing suit. For about thirty minutes, Scarlet just blended in with the wall as she watched everyone laughing and enjoying themselves. She eventually entered the house and headed for the bathroom. She felt so upset that before she could even close the door, tears had begun to roll down her cheeks. As she cried and sank to the floor, she felt her sadness become very intense. How could she be so stupid and believe that she was wanted here? Within seconds, she heard a sound at the window. Drip, drip, drip. Scarlet looked up and noticed that it had started to rain outside. She could hear the screams of the kids as they ran inside, escaping the storm. It only lasted a couple of minutes, but that was all Scarlet needed to compose herself and get up. She left the bathroom and snuck out of the house before anyone could see her. Scarlet didn't want to spend another moment in a place where she felt unwanted. As she walked out the door and down the driveway, she noticed that beyond the house's sidewalk, there was no indication that it had rained. She spun around to see that everything about the house screamed that there had been a rainstorm just minutes ago, but when looking across the street, everything was dry. "Weird", was all Scarlet thought as she walked away, already thinking about how happy she would be curled up in her favorite blanket while starting a new book.

"Mom...do you mind if I ask you something?"
Emil's dip in volume upon speaking was the sign that Soraya knew what was coming. The boy wore his heart on his sleeve at all times. He couldn't hide his excitement just as much as he couldn't shield his nervous habits. The boy spent more time than most young boys do with their parents, and near the eve of his 11th birthday, he had pummled his parents with questions about Hogwarts. What house he would be in, what spells he would learn first. These were always asked with glee, but his distinctive tone told her that the nature of his question was of a more... sensitive subject.
"You don't have to beat around the bush, dear. Go ahead, ask what you want."
Soraya never made a habit of shutting her son off of answering any question if she could help it. He knew questions about her or his father's work was off limits, which only upped her curosity as to what her son could be asking.
Emil fiddled with his hands. His mother never minded speaking about almost anything, but he had long realized that talking about her side of the family had been off-limits for as long as he could remember. He had visited his father's side of the family at least twice to his recollection, although whether he would call them family was another story. But there was nothing about his moms family at all. No reunions, no summertime vacation trips, not even any casual mentions over the dinner table.
And then there was that box.
Mom's eyes always drifted to the box when she was sad. In moments where Dad had told him that she needed a moment to herself, she would always be standing over an intricatly decorated silver-leafed box. Minutes would to hours as she would continue to be by it's side, never opening, not even touching it. Like she wasn't even allowed to deign the idea.
"I wanted to know... what's in the box, mom? You're always sort of... looking at it. Dad told me not to ask you but," his foot started digging into the carpet of his mom's study, "you always tell me to ask you about anything without hesitation. And I've just wanted to know since, like, forever!"
Soraya slightly bit her bottom lip. It had been something having a child who always asked question after question. Having him ask all sorts of questions led to various awkward moments, the top one being the oldie but goodie about birds and bees. But this one his Soraya a little more personally. Her family was a topic of conversation that she avoided like the plague. Her son was as good as poison to them, solely for having muggle ancestory. Speak nothing about what they felt about her husband. It had been over twelve years since she had been excommunicated and hadn't heard a thing from them. The last link she had to her family, other than her name, was the box.
A heavy sigh escaped her lips.
"Okay honey, I'll tell you. But after this, no more asking about it, okay?'
Emil nodded his head, eyes wide open, staring at his mother as she walked and hesitantly laid her fingertips on the top of the box.
"But first, I wanna ask you something. Have you ever felt like, maybe you knew something that you shouldn't have known? Something akin to... a gut feeling?"
Emil shook his head. A gut feeling? Like, instinct? Or maybe a stomach ache? It couldn't have been something like that, right? Knowing something he didn't know, he couldn't wrap his mind around it.
Well, usually, all sorts of people have these gut feelings all the time. But for my family..." she paused for a moment before correcting herself. "I suppose I should say, for our family, it's possible that our gut feelings are a little bit stronger than normal. It tends to skip generations, but your great-grandpa, well, he was quite good at it.
She wrapped her hands around the box and lifted it, turning around and kneeling down to Emil's level.
"This is his treasure. Before I left my home to be with your dad, I took it with me. He wanted me to have it, said as much in no uncertain terms. The rest of the family wasn't particularly happy about that decision. And sometimes... when I look at it I think about them. As you could have guessed, we're not on speaking terms. Well, anyway, as for what's inside... why don't you try opening it?"
It took a moment for Emil to absorb what his mom had offered him. He'd spent the majority of his life feeling like he wasn't even allowed to speak about it, and now he could touch it? Open it, even? His fingers reacted before his mind could even contemplate whether he should, and soon found themselves wrapped around the intricate latch that kept the box's secrets.
"Ughhh, Errrgh... Mom, it won't budge. Are you sure it's not broken?"
She chuckled for what felt like the first time in a long time. "It's definitely not broken. In fact, since you can't open it, it probably means it's working just as intended."
"Aw, mom, that's not fair. You got my hopes up..."
"Your great-grandpa meant for this box to be opened by someone who's gut feeling was strong enough." She poked her son's belly softly. "Maybe when you're older, it can be you."
"You think so?!" The curiosity shifted to joy, imagining the grand opening of what was a family treasure hidden away from the woorld. "Is there anything I can do to, like, help my gut feeling?"
"Funny enough, I asked your great-grandpa that same question when I was around your age. I'll tell you what he told me."
She cleared her throat and wore her best, sternest face.
"You may not get what I'm talking about now, but if you ever get a feeling, and believe me, you'll know it when you feel it...
Follow it."

Character Backstory:
Reducio
A half-blood born between a Ravenclaw would be the most telling subtitle of his auto-biography. Both of his parents were top ranking students of their worlds, both with enough books between them to rival a small library for reading material. Although they promised each other never to force their habits and expectations onto their son, their worries were unfounded. He took to it like a fly to honey.
Emil, born in the seaside town of Oban, settled in quite nicely to the small town life. His mother stayed the course of the magical academic, while his father studied muggle chemistry in attempts to find new breakthroughs. Both of his parents stayed home for the most part, keeping to their research and taking turns spending time raising the boy. It made for a wonderful home life and aside from the occasional trist across town interacting with the locals, it was just him and his parents. And he never minded that one bit.
His father, muggle-born, yearned to retain some connection to his muggle life and his extended family. His mother, a pure-blood, was less inclined to that. It's not that she was a purist by any means, herself having been okay with being ex-communicated from her family for marrying a muggle-born. But her in-laws were not the kind to consort with magic-kind. A summer at their muggle farm, days of Emil hiding his maternal magic side, confirmed that.
All in all, it wouldn't matter to Emil for the first 11 years of his life.
The the letter came. Not unexpectedly but recieved with unbridled joy nevertheless. Emil would soon follow in his parent's footsteps, the biggest wish being that he could bring them with him to school. But 2 months before his inagural trip to Kings Crossing, the death of his parents and his home enveloped in blue flames would be the only thing on his mind.
An explosion. His father's work? Surely someone at St. Mungos had tried to explain it to him, but he couldn't wrap his head around it all. No amount of being well read could explain why his parents were here one moment and gone the next. And how had he avoided it? It happened so suddenly, it had seemed almost like a nightmare. It was almost hard to convince himself that it wasn't, save for the place he found himself waking up in. His mother ex-communicated, only his father's muggle family remained.
The purely muggle side of his family. A familiar farm located in Louth, England where his cousin on his father's side, Persephone, lived. A non-magical group of people where he would have to stay until his journey to Hogwarts began.

First Instance of Magic:

Emil had been inside his father's personal lab before, if not carried by him then holding hands. But helping in the kitchen with a kid-safe knife they'd taught him to use to cut his own fruit had convinced his parents he could help cut up some herbs for his dad. It had taken him ages of constantly asking his father before Emil wore him down. After all, what 6 year old didn’t want to help their dad do cool things?
As Emil walked down the familiar stairs once more, holding his fathers hand as the glow of the lab peaked through the doorway, his father bent down and told him to be safe and not to touch anything he wasn't allowed to. Emil nodded, beaming with pride. He could finally help his dad!
And as his father stood up and walked into the room with his son, he let go of his hand as a sign he could trust the boy.
Emil proceeded to smile hard, pressing his face together as the excitement was too much to bear. It turns out, a little too literally.
Imagining the vials in his hands, his hands fidgeted. He wanted to grab them, hold them tight out of excitement. The image of him holding onto it and squeezing it, making sure he gripped them tight, crossed his mind over and over. That image, that feeling, showed up another way.
Across the lab, within eyesight, empty glass vials burst one after the other as the shards landed scattered on the desk and the floor as if gripped too tightly with monsterous strength. Emil's dad stared wide-eyed, first at the hazards, then at his son.
"Maybe... don't tell your mom about this..."

1. Please elaborate on your blood connection to Persephone Grimsbane, as she is an existing user on site, and is of different blood-status.
2. Please explain what caused Emil's First Instance of Magic, it is unclear why the vile shattered.
