Name of Ability: Calming presence
Describe why this fits your character: (WC: 424/400)
The death of Jess' mother was an unexpected blow that such a happy young girl could never have anticipated. At just 7 years old, Jess' true idol and rock had been brutally torn from her grasp, and it left her with a gaping hole that she felt would never be filled. The extreme pain brought about by her mother's passing was the start of Jess' anxiety, but a surprising solution was swiftly discovered; Jess took comfort in her exceptional ability to calm others. The first person for which this came in handy was her father, who struggled intensely with the loss of his wife. Every night, they would lie on the sofa together and cry, talking about everything to do with her mother. All the while, Jess would squeeze her father in a tight hug and promise him that they'd be alright. Although Guillaume never knew how to tell her, he could not believe the maturity of his tiny daughter, and was truly saved by her stubborn will to stay by his side and ensure his emotional stability, no matter what. This relationship went both ways; each time that Jess succeeded in reducing her father's distraught state, she felt the hole in her heart begin to heal, if only just a little.

At school, in rugby games, Jess was nearly always picked to be team captain, for, in her PE teacher's words, "your natural knack for supporting your teammates". Although Jess was too modest to admit it, this could not have been more accurate. Often, during a match, the presence of the enigmatic 10-year-old could so significantly lift the spirits and focus of her friends, that they sailed past the opposing team and won with ease. An encouraging thump on the back might lead to a soaring free-kick, or a few words of praise across the pitch might result in a ferocious and successful tackle - sometimes, parents would comment that these spontaneous and transformational effects seemed to be magical.

At times, Jess pondered on her apparent ability to calm those around her. Had she always been like that? In early childhood, Jess had been most well-known for her exceptional strength, but something must have changed on that fateful day; Jess had a feeling that, as her mother's spirit had left the world, she had inherited a morsel of her mother's extraordinary empathy. There was no doubt that this reinforced her wish to comfort others - after all, every person that she helped only brought her closer to living up to her mother's legacy.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Fearless
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):

"The only freak we see, is you!"

The words seemed carved into the half-giant's skull. Over and over, Hugh would see the trio of men approaching him in the alleys of Hogsmeade. Stabbing, beating and all the while taunting. He had felt helpless, yes. But he hadn't been afraid. He understood this world on a deeper level than most. It had cost him a great deal of energy to show people like Serena what reality looked like, and to understand that the world should do better.

Lesser people would always feel threatened by the unknown. Nails sticking out, getting hammered down. As if all men were supposed to be born equal. Yes, Hugh had witnessed cruelty at first hand. When the common folk are forced to face the uncommon… they turn feral. As soon as they see you as a violent animal let loose, they think it's best to mirror themselves to their perception. In turn, proving who was the monster all along. Hugh understood it could make you feel cornered, or as he said, helpless. But not afraid.

In eyes like Serena's he could see how the world was big and scary. But to him, the world was so much smaller. In fact, he felt like an elephant in a porcelain shop. One wrong move, and society was at his throat. But he also saw the other side of that coin. One push too far from them, and he'd smash their fancy little world to bits and pieces.

"The only freak we see, is you!"

And they were not the only ones. Time after time, people said and thought the same in situations, even where he was trying to play the part of a hero.

Blades that cut through his calves flashed in memory before his eyes. The night he had tried to save Erin but found himself in need of others to finish the quest, because someone else had decided he was in fact: the monster. "They'll always hate us, they'll blame us for everything." He told Serena that night. Despite the pain, he did not feel afraid.

Then hissed insults spat in his face during a ball, where he offered a helping hand in vain. An attempt to rekindle an offer of friendship, cast aside as true convictions came to light in the eyes of a dead man. It would not be the final blow Vlad or his family had handed him. In the end, they stopped pretending. They liked telling him what he was to them.

"The only freak we see, is you!"

It still hurt. But it was still no reason to be afraid. That particular day in Hogsmeade, Hugh had gained a profound understanding of the men swinging their self-made weapons in front of him. They were afraid of him. In truth, the deep down and hidden truth, he held the power. And that was a terrifying concept. People like him, the outcasts, who tasted their freedom… they had nothing left to lose. And that's what makes them afraid.

Fear of change. Fear of consequence. Like a boxing ball that unexpectedly comes back swinging into your face. A stick that turned out to be a boomerang. Their fear of a half-breed's chance at evolution, fuelled Hugh's own raging revolution. In his head, the giant would smirk and face his attackers. Their own grins folding into frowns and confusion.

"The only freak we see, is you!"
"And do I make you afraid, lil' man?" Hugh replied in his head.

For all the years he dreamed himself to become like the knights he read about in children's stories, it took him so long to realize he had always been the dragon. And that those knights were the monsters all along.

In his head, Hugh stepped towards the three attackers over and over. Facing them head-on again and again. Like he had that particular night. Only this time he knew he could beat them. And they better be afraid.

Link to your encyclopedia thread: Adam Harringtom
Name of Ability (5th Year): Paragon of Health
Describe why this fits your character:
Reducio
"Adam!" The fifteen-year-old boy, hunched over an enchanted deck of cards that hundreds of games of Exploding Snap had rendered scorched and dog-eared, looked up from his seat at the kitchen table at the sound of his name. His mum was calling. Her voice was like an echo, though — where was she? He furrowed his brow, casting a confused glance around the kitchen, and finally decided that he'd simply have to be as loud as his mum was.

"What?" he shouted back. For a moment, there was no reply but the sound of the wind chimes dancing in the open window above the sink. Adam began to doubt that he'd heard anything at all. Was his mum even home? He actually hadn't seen her in a bit. Just as he shrugged and reached to draw another card, however, Mrs. Harringtom's voice returned on the breeze. "Can you come here for a second?"

Merlin! She always did this. He tossed down the card in his hand — it exploded with a pop! on impact with the table, making him nearly jump out of his skin — and got up from the chair to follow his mum's voice. He trudged through the living room and the dining room, poked his head up the stairs to the attic and down to the basement, and even knocked on the bathroom door in search of the woman. (He was relieved to find that she was not in the bathroom.) It wasn't until he leaned out the back door that he finally saw her standing at the edge of the garden, pulling on a pair of thick rubber gloves. "What d'you want, Mum?" he asked, silently praying that she wouldn't enlist him in yard work. It was the middle of a particularly hot summer day; though the breeze offered some relief, Adam didn't fancy the idea of breaking his back in the sun all afternoon. No one ought to be doing yard work in conditions like these.

"I'm de-gnoming," she explained, waving her gloved hands at him to punctuate her sentence. "While you were away at school, my sorry excuse for a garden attracted a visitor. Nasty little creature, he is. I think I can get him, but I want you here just in case something goes wrong. Usually, I'd have Bridgit to help me, but..." She shrugged. Adam could fill in the rest. His Aunt Bridgit had begun staying with his mum in Nottingham during the school year, since she was the only one left in the house while he was at Hogwarts. But in the summers, Bridgit went back to Scotland to tend to her own home.

Well, it sounded like an easy job. Adam nodded and stepped outside, letting the back door bang shut behind him as he moved to join his mum by the garden. "You stay right there," she instructed him, "in case he makes a dash for the house. Got it?" He assured her that, yes, he did get it, and took a ready stance between the garden and the door. His mum crept carefully through the sparse vegetable patch, sweeping her gaze across leafy greens and parched roots. Suddenly, there was a rustle from within a clump of weeds — and no sooner had Adam noticed it than Mrs. Harringtom dove across the garden like a Seeker chasing the Snitch.

"Merlin, Mum!" Adam exclaimed, watching his mother tumble into the dirt and clamp her gloves around something that yelped and struggled. He thought he could hear the pesky creature taunting her: cantgetme, cantgetme! When she let out a grunt of pain, Adam started forward, making a beeline right through a flower bed to come to her aid. But before he could reach her, she held the gnome at arm's length — it thrashed its arms and legs in protest, dangling by its potato-like head — and began spinning it around. The woman looked like an Olympic athlete as she turned once, twice, three times and then finally let go. Adam watched the gnome sail across their backyard until it disappeared into the trees. Ten out of ten, Mum, he thought. Terrific execution.

When he turned to applaud her throw, she was peeling off the glove on her left hand and squinting at her pointer finger. Adam was surprised to see blood welling up from two tiny puncture wounds on either side of her knuckle. She'd been bitten! "I can't believe it got you through the glove," he remarked, reaching out gently to take her hand and look at the wound himself. "Does it hurt?"

"Stings a little," she admitted.

"Let me check it out inside," Adam said, and although she protested, he managed to convince her to follow him to the kitchen table and sit down opposite the deck of cards. She wouldn't let him cast any healing magic, since he was still underage — odd time to start following that rule, he thought, but he wouldn't try to change her mind. Instead, he fetched a glass of water from the sink and a bandage from one of the bathroom cupboards and began patching her wound the old-fashioned way.

"Who taught you this?" his mum asked jokingly, gritting her teeth as he dabbed the bite marks with a damp dishcloth. He tried to be as gentle as possible as he finished wiping away the blood and started to bandage her finger.

"I taught myself this," he replied, "at that dangerous school you don't want me going to." She frowned and started to respond, but he shook his head to let her know he was only kidding. "Relax, Mum, it's just a joke. They're really good at the Hospital Wing. I just take care of myself for small things like paper cuts and bruises — you know, things that aren't worth going up there for. And I help Cecily out a little sometimes, too. You should see how bruised she can get after a Quidditch match." He finished wrapping the bandage and tied off the end. His mum flexed her finger once or twice, seemingly satisfied with his work. "I like taking care of people," he continued. "Even if I'm not a healer, it doesn't hurt to know how to fix the small stuff."

His mum looked at him strangely for a moment. He wanted to shrink away from her gaze, but he held it until she nodded and sat back in her chair. "I know," she said, still looking at him. "You're right. And I'm glad you were here, Adam. I'm sure it would've been a lot worse if I was by myself." He started to protest, but she insisted he take the compliment. "Don't give me that look, kid, I really mean it. I feel better when you're at home."

Sheepishly, Adam thanked his mum and went to put away the bandages. When he got back, she was shuffling the Exploding Snap deck, wordlessly inviting him for a game. He sat down across from her and waited for her to deal the cards. "You got that gnome pretty good, by the way."

"Yeah," she remarked, chuckling as she worked. "Yeah, I did."

Name of Ability (6th Year): Beast Master (Owl)
Describe why this fits your character:
Reducio
The tawny owl was struggling to soar over the Scottish Highlands, buffeted by gales of wind between every flap of its wings. It had no particular destination in mind; it only knew that it was meant to come when it was called, and it would be rewarded with a treat. As it tilted westward to ride a current of air, it heard a high-pitched whistle cut through the wind, followed by a singsong call from below: "Ed-muuuund!" The owl screeched and propelled itself into a descent. It circled the tall, blond-haired boy on the grassy ridge as it approached him; when it was close enough, it extended its wings to their full span, slowing itself enough to alight on the boy's outstretched arm. It blinked its large, curious eyes and tilted its head at its human companion, waiting for the prize it had been promised.

"Good boy, Edmund," Adam said softly, stroking the feathers on the back of his owl's head. His arm shook a bit under Edmund's weight; he wasn't used to holding the creature, but his Aunt Bridgit's discovery of an old falconer's sleeve in her attic had been too tempting to pass up. With the sleeve strapped to one arm and Edmund's cage held in the other, he'd ventured out from the house where he and Bridgit were spending their weekend-long summer Highlands getaway to attempt to train his bird. Of course, he hadn't counted on it being so windy — but Edmund was being a good sport about it.

"I hope you like sardines," he told Eddy, using his free hand to dig around in his pocket for the tin of fish that he'd swiped from Bridgit's pantry. "I don't think my aunt wants me bringing any mice into the house — alive or dead. You're just going to have to make do, mate." Thankfully, Edmund didn't seem to have a problem with this pescatarian treat. He snapped the sardine from Adam's fingers, evoking a burst of nervous laughter from the boy as he pictured his fingertips following suit. He remembered how many times he'd been told to be careful when he'd come back from Diagon Alley with Edmund in tow. His mother, his aunt, his brother (who'd gotten him the damn bird)... he guessed they were right after all. Owning an owl certainly wasn't like owning a dog, as far as he could reason. But he was bonding with Edmund more than ever before on this short trip. What were the rest of his classmates doing in the months before their sixth year?

Adam's reverie was interrupted by Edmund's shifting weight. He was flexing his talons and turning his head back and forth — looking for another sardine, Adam bet. "You want another one, huh? You want to try and catch it?" He pulled another sardine from the tin and held it up between two fingers, dangling it in front of Edmund's eyes. "Ready, Eddy? Want to catch it? Ed-muuuund..." This melodic, mantra-like intonation of the owl's name was Adam's way of getting his attention and preparing him to do a trick. He didn't remember where he'd picked it up, but it seemed to work well. "...go!" He tossed the sardine up as high as he could and, at the same time, heaved Edmund into the air with his other arm. The owl burst into motion, chasing the sardine as the wind took it spiraling off its course. Adam watched him pursue his prey, admiring the way he rode the wind and followed the tiny fish with unshakable focus. If only his owner could be that focused about his schoolwork...

Nope — OWLs were over, and NEWTs weren't for another year. He had nothing to be stressed about, except for the normal sixth-year workload awaiting him at Hogwarts. But even that was still a month or two away. He should appreciate these windy moments with Edmund while he had them. The Highlands were gorgeous; on most days, the weather was beautiful, too. It was good to spend time with Aunt Bridgit. He had a lot to be happy about this summer. Best not to ruin it.

"Attaboy, Edmund! Woooo!" Adam cheered as Edmund closed on the sardine and snatched it out of the air just a few feet from the ground. "Come back!" It took some more coaxing, but he eventually got the owl to return to his arm and gave him a third sardine as compensation. "You're going to be a real hunter by the time we get back to Hogwarts," he told his pet, smiling. "I just hope you don't tear my mail to pieces." Edmund hooted in response, but that could've meant anything: I will, I won't, or I don't know what you're talking about.

A strong and sudden gust of wind ruffled Edmund's feathers and knocked Adam back a step. He'd ought to get off this ridge before a storm picked up. Bridgit would worry about him after a while. "Come on, Eddy," he said, dropping the sardine tin back in his pocket and picking up Edmund's cage. "We'll do some more practice on the way back home. You remember how to get home, right? Because I wasn't paying attention."

Edmund did not laugh at the joke, but Adam chuckled to himself quietly. He let the owl follow him overhead as he trekked across the highlands towards the house, calling him closer when it looked like he was going to fly too far out of earshot. Every time Edmund obeyed a command, he felt a swell of pride. It was progress — good progress, he thought. He couldn't wait to show his friends at school what he'd taught his pet to do.

Name of Ability (7th Year): Comprehend Languages (Gobbledegook)
Describe why this fits your character:
Reducio
One, two, three... Ollivander's arse, how many pages were there? Adam grumbled around the quill clenched between his teeth as he swept the contents of his cluttered desk to either side and made room for the latest letter from his brother. He had just enough time before class to start decoding it. What did Dean have to say to him this time? He wondered if he'd managed to break that curse he'd caught in Ibiza last month. He wondered if he was still in Spain at all, or if his adventures abroad had taken him somewhere new. Well, there was only one way to find out.

Where were his notes? Adam skirted around his bed and approached the pile of textbooks and parchment that had been amassing in the corner of his dormitory since the start of his seventh year. Normally, he thought he was a fairly organized person. This year, however, did not count. Between classes, clubs, friends, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and preparing for the NEWT exams, he had a lot of things asking for his attention. He couldn't be expected to clean his room until absolutely necessary — or until, like right now, he needed to find something. He kicked a few history books to the side, nudged some potion ingredients out of the way, and, finally, discovered the crudely-bound collection of crumpled parchment that he needed to read Dean's letter. His brother was a traveled man now, after all. He wrote in Gobbledegook.

Actually, as much fun as it was to tease him, Adam was glad that Dean had decided to learn a new language, since it meant his younger brother got to learn it with him. It had started over the summer; some of the letters began arriving with short words or phrases in the goblin language, accompanied by English translations. On a spare length of parchment, Adam scribbled down the foreign terms and their meanings. He started to use them in his letters back to Dean, who elevated the game in turn by writing longer sentences in Gobbledegook and leaving them untranslated. He could still remember the look on his mother's face when he'd asked if they had any Gobbledegook dictionaries around the house. (Oddly enough, they did have one that was older than he was.) The more letters from Dean he got, the longer Adam's notes became, until they were practically a tome of their own. It was this stack of parchment that he now picked up from the floor of his dormitory and brought over to his desk. With that settled, he was ready to begin a proper translation.

He took the quill out of his mouth and placed the tip of it at the letter's left margin, right at the beginning. The first sentence was easy; it was one that came with every letter, which meant it was one that Adam had come to know like the back of his hand. Harru, daor brusrar — Hello, dear brother. The formal greeting made Adam feel like he and Dean were a couple of Victorian gentlemen, which he figured was Dean's intention. He smiled as he dragged the quill down the margin and kept reading. It seemed that his brother was doing well. He had broken the curse, lucky him, and this month, he was writing from... somewhere. Adam furrowed his brow. He couldn't figure out the name of the place, but it must not have been too far from Ibiza, because it didn't seem like Dean had done much trekking since he'd last heard from him. Good to know. He underlined his own name in the spots where it appeared, still getting used to reading it: Adok. Adam mouthed the word silently, trying to make it feel like his name. "Hello, I'm Adok. Nice to meet you, I'm Adok." Weird — although Dean's was just as strange, he supposed, glancing over to the foot of the letter where his brother had signed his name Daom.

Adam tried to whisper Dean's Gobbledegook name, but his mouth got stuck on the vowel sounds in the middle. It was one thing to read the goblin language; it was a whole other thing to speak it. He thought his brother, who must have been encountering goblins and wizard explorers and all sorts of other fluent speakers during his travels, had a distinct advantage over him. Maybe Adam needed to find someone else at Hogwarts that he could practice with — someone who spoke the language well enough to be helpful, but not so well that he'd feel embarrassed to make a mistake. But when could he find the time? It was already his last year here, and he only had a few months to go before graduation.

It was nearing time to leave for class, but Adam took a moment to scan the rest of the letter and was surprised to find a short section in English at the end. He read it quickly and rolled his eyes. Dean had anticipated his frustration, apparently. Adam, he'd written, I know it's probably hard to read this and not hear it out loud. Don't worry — next time, I'll send a Howler. Cheeky prick. He'd have to come up with something just as clever to put in his reply. For now, though, he had just a moment to jot down some of the new words he'd pulled from the first page (including one rather concerning phrase that Dean insisted he had to remember: I'k sarrems sra srisr, or, "I'm telling the truth!") and shuffle the letter back into order. He continued to talk to himself in broken Gobbledegook as he threw on his robe and gathered his class materials. He might not ever be fluent, but Adam was sure that he was on track to graduate Hogwarts at least semi-bilingual. And his next letter was going to blow Dean's out of the water.

Back in Giselle’s nice and cosy house in Bishops Waltham, England, sitting on the dining table while drinking a cup of tea. Giselle was bored at that time, and looking around the living room, casting for something to do. She spotted a large hole on one of the walls, which held a beautiful sight from the back garden underneath.

As most children would have been scared that they would hurt themselves if they came near this hole, Giselle was not. When she spotted the hole, her reaction was different from others. Instead of thinking, Well, I shan’t go near it again, it’ll be dangerous, Giselle thought that it was an amazing thing. In fact, unknown to Giselle, this hole was always there, it’s just that she had never saw it before, as her house had a lot of interesting parts, being a wizarding house. She had never seen anything like that - yet!

Giselle loved trying dangerous things, and the risk in the life is the same as excitement. Her fearless personality had made her walk closer and closer to the hole, thinking, I shall certainly try to jump down!

As her curious self walked towards the hole, which was on the wall, Giselle asked, Evanna, dare me to jump down there? It’ll be so much fun![/color]Her sister, Evanna was not completely fearless. Giselle could tell that she’s wondering, like the other children do, Is that dangerous? Shall I warn her not to go?Judging by the look on little Evanna’s face, she was doing some serious thinking. Instead of the determined look she always wore at the thought of doing something that would break rules, Evanna looked serious, scared that she would lose her sister.

Giselle, maybe not,Evanna seemed to say, but Giselle was not listening. She climbed into the hole which had a beautiful sight of the outdoors. In fact, when she climbed into the window, as it seemed to be, Giselle could see total darkness… and all of a sudden, light. It was the sunshine from the sun, which was shining brightly at the darkness below it, making the darkness disappear. There was no need to be scared of it at all! It just turned out to be a window! Giselle then laughed silently. At that time, she felt happy that she had discovered this hole, which turned out to be a window! If she had not been bored, she would have not noticed it at all, which would mean that this moment of excitement would have never happened.

Evanna, it’s completely safe! No more sign of darkness here! Only light!Of course, she thought to herself, Evanna couldn’t see the light of the back garden, the light that she was seeing.Hey, Evanna! It’s just the sunshine form the meadows! It’s bewitchedto look like darkness! I’ll just jump down here, shall I?

Evanna looked as if she wanted to say no. However, Giselle did not care. See you at the back door! Giselle said, jumping down into the grassy garden. As soon as she reached the grass, Giselle ran back to the house and banged open the back door, grinning. She thought, What fun! Wanting to say it to Evanna, but looking at the horrified look on her sisters face, she stopped. Evanna might not be happy to know that, but she certainly was. Hoping to give her sister some rest about the whole incident, Giselle ran to her parent’s room, grinning from ear to ear, eager to share what had just happened with them.

Growing a resistance to potions was nothing a feat that Winnie Harper had purposefully set out to achieve, but considering she had spent the better half of three years drinking a large amount of forgetfulness potion... Well, it was only a matter of time before it started to become... Less potent.

It was amazing how the human body could adapt, given enough time and exposure to an element or drink in this instance. It stood to reason that as she neared the end of her third year at Hogwarts, Winnie Harper found that she was starting to remember things with more ease than ever before. Just a year or two ago she could have easily forgotten where she had placed her school satchel, despite it being by her side, or even what she had for breakfast that morning. Random memories often slipped between her finger tips and onto the ground where they lay long since forgotten. She would often find herself blaming her tendency to space out and daydream.

Yet she suddenly she found herself remembering small things—like the exact wording of a spell from class or a fleeting glance shared between two friends. She didn't think much of it at first, attributing it to simply getting used to her routines and surroundings at Hogwarts. Now suddenly she could remember where she had left her textbooks, and recall conversations she had with friends, perhaps even a disagreement she had with her long time boyfriend...

Over time, the differences became more pronounced. She began recalling entire conversations with startling clarity, and memories that had once felt distant and blurry came back with vivid detail. It was as if her mind had started to build a resistance to the fog, strengthening with each passing day.

It was, however, unfortunate for Mathias Pride that the Ravenclaw had started to grow... 'tired' of the usual strawberry juice he seemed to have a never ending supply of. One sip of it and usually the Ravenclaw would manage to forget any ill feelings towards her 'perfect' boyfriend, but suddenly if he were to offer her a drink, she would turn it down, and even started saying that the sweet drink was making her feel weird, giving her an upset stomach, or maybe it had expired.

Despite not knowing what was in the juice, it seemed Winnie's body started to react whenever she had been exposed, protecting her from the potion hidden within. Whether or not the Ravenclaw would become aware of the why was yet to be seen...

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: The Muggle Condition
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio
Aston grew up without experience in muggle society, but his muggle mother did decide to prepare him and teach him muggle things she deemed important, like ways to use a gun or the best way to attack someone with your bare hands. Aston always found these lessons to be quite interesting and enjoyable, though it very well could have just been his desire to spend more time with his mother. Nevertheless he studied hard and listened. His mother Victoria never had a normal or partially pleasant personality, or at least in the eyes of most people. Her temper got her into fights since she was a child and she eagerly watched when her family taught her all the ways to hunt and kill animals for food. Naturally she passed them on to Aston, leading him to be quite proficient in gun shooting, muggle street fighting, sketching, fishing and other rather unconventional things that are quite useless in the wizarding world. One of Aston's first, and most fond memory of this was how his mother went fishing with him when he was a child, his father came with too but truth be told he wasn't much help. They lived not far from a large lake with many fish so they all took advantage of that in the summer of 2018. Aston remembers that day surprisingly well, he got woken up early by his father while his mother was in the room over packing up. Despite Aston's father going magic less for nearly a decade at this point, he still had not quite adapted to the muggle life and left most of these things to his- at the time- wife. It was a great experience for Aston since it was the first time he ever caught fish by himself, sure it took him ages and there were lots of fish that he totally missed, it was still the very first time he felt that unique sense of accomplishment only achievable by working hard and actually getting results out of it, which is why he love these simple muggle hobbies so much. That and the desire to still stay connected to his mother in some minor way lead him to continue excising these basic muggle activities even after moving away and learning that he is a wizard. Even in Hogwarts, where he learns how to do all these fantastical things with his wand, he still finds himself sometimes yearning for home. Luckily out of all the hobbies his mother taught him, there is one that can be done at school, pencil sketching.

Inara had always been a calm person. Not very social, really quiet, and a person who would much rather keep to herself and read a book in the corner. But she was also a calm person when everyone else was in panic - and perhaps that's what gave her a sort of calming presence.

Inara never really noticed any of this. She knew that perhaps she was a bit quiet, and a person who stayed calm, but she didn't know that merely being there could make others calm as well.

Her siblings were the definition of LOUD. Chaotic, even. They always got into arguments, sometimes fights, and as the oldest, Inara had to stay responsible and be calm, for them, and for herself.

Inara remembered the first time she had really noticed that her calmness put others at ease - When there was an earthquake, in Fourth Grade.

The Teacher had been out sick that day and there was a substitute teacher, but nobody really listened to her. None of her classmates had taken the alert seriously either, as they had had so many minor earthquakes as well as several drills. It wasn't until the ground started shaking that people had really began to panic.

Inara had been in another room, because she had been asked to return some supplies to another classroom. When she felt the ground start to shake, she ran back to her classroom to find the class in pandemonium. Of course Inara panicked a bit too - but she took a deep breath and tried to remain calm.

She started whispering to the two classmates closest to her to remember what to do during an earthquake, and they remembered too, and became calm, focusing on getting under the table like they had practiced so many times. The rest of the class saw that and followed. Nobody got hurt, and the Earthquake was over.

Inara realized then that by staying calm under pressure and encouraging others to do so, she could both calm and reassure others. While she herself panicked, of course, she learned that by seeming that she wasn't panicked and knew what she was doing, she could put others at ease.

Later as she got older, several other incidents happened, but this was when she first realized it.
However, it was only when she got to Hogwarts that she actually suspected it was some sort of special ability - others seemed to be able to cast spells better, or focus better, which made Inara happy that she could do something like that for others.

From an early age, Kim had always been a perfectionist, striving to do the best he possibly could in whatever he chose to focus on. Coming from a powerful pureblood family who had always excelled at sports, Kim was expected to carry on the family tradition. He'd always wanted to please his father and make him proud but his father had been a quidditch player and wanted him to follow in his footsteps. But with Kim's fear of heights, that would never happen. Therefore, Kim needed to figure out a different way to make his mark on history for the Sato family and that path had eventually led him to dueling. Unlike many who started dueling, Kim didn't have a passion for it from the start and had only begun to do it to make his father proud of him. But as time passed and he met Galton, who became his idol on the dueling piste, Kim started to actually like the sport. Win or lose, it was something he actually had a passion for now. But of course, he was rather competitive by nature and he did want to win his matches.

Starting off with a bang, Kim destroyed his competition and ended up meeting Rose, who made him waver about his decision to remain a duelist. Because healing was also something he'd always been interested in but wasn't sure if he had any talent in the field. If he'd had to weigh the way things were now, Kim thought he was more skilled in dueling than he was in healing but he couldn't help but wonder which path he should pursue. Continuing on the dueling path, Kim started to experience failure after failure after this point in time. Determined to make his skills better, he began to put all of his time and effort into making his accuracy improve. Slacking in other aspects, he became almost laser focused on making his accuracy as good as it could possibly be. Sometimes he ended up not even sleeping as he worked on building up his skill in this regard, until he eventually began to incorporate other people into his practice. These people were either willing participants, also known as those who thought of him as a friend, or unwilling unwitting participants, also known as those Kim went after for pranks. As time passed, his accuracy grew way better than it had been before and he became determined to test it out in an official match. If it make a difference, he'd continue to do this type of training for as long as it took in order for him to overcome any and all weaknesses he might have.

Most people might have stopped their practice and training at this point in time, only starting up again when the next match was about to take place. But Kim continued to practice, train and hone his accuracy skills, not wasting a single second because he knew in order to become the best he couldn't afford to sit around and do nothing. He needed to fix all his weaknesses and become someone his team could depend upon in a sticky or hopeless situation.

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): Elizabeth had been an unusually quiet child during her childhood, up until the time she started Hogwarts. She had no need to talk much except for when she was either anxious or looking to make friends. When she started middle school, there had been a prank club which she had joined almost immediately. Everyone in the prank club liked her, partly because since she was so quiet, she could most likely withhold information about pranks that teachers looked for. So, whenever a prank was needed to be done, they usually sent her with someone else as back-up and sometimes as a supposed unknowing victim. During the next few years however, despite the prank club’s attempts to remain out of trouble, one of the members within, not Elizabeth, was selling secrets to the teachers in order to keep her grades up and please her mother. So, after the club disbanded, Elizabeth was the only prankster in motion with her quietness which always came in handy. As the pranks continued, everyone soon realized that there was a kid who had enjoyed the pranks previously done and was now continuing them. As the kids interview their fellow students, Elizabeth was the prime suspect but she, with her quietness, always slipped away before they could get to her, always furthering their suspicions about her. Her mother had, of course, been called in a few times to discuss Elizabeth’s quietness but nothing had come out of those school visits except for Elizabeth being even more careful, quiet, and sneaky. On a visit to France, she was continuing her quiet, sneaky pranking when she overheard plans of combining two schools for the day. She carefully went on with her day, not spoiling the fun. On the day of the school visit, she carefully led a skunk to the bushes near the playground where they were meeting the other school. Then she started having fun, of course not joining in the other kids’ loud shouts. Soon, a horrible smell came up and her school chaperone, knowing that some kids suspected Elizabeth, started to look around for her. However, she couldn’t find Elizabeth by herself the entire time they were at the park. When Elizabeth’s brother’s friends came over, she would often put cookies in their shoes so that when they came back from her brother’s room and put their shoes on, they wouldn’t be able to. Those were nice pranks and she wasn’t ever blamed or caught because one of her brother’s friends used to have a dog who hid things. She had always had the quietness and sneakiness to avoid getting caught but…with Hogwarts approaching, she was afraid that she would be caught in the midst of a prank.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Perfectionist
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):

Homework. Classes and school. Even in the muggle world Laurie had not liked school, although like everyone she had been explained about a million, no, a trillion times that school was one thing that was not avoidable, at any costs. Laurie was smart, she liked to solve assignments which required logic, because that was something she had in excess amounts.
But, no matter what it was, Laurie always did her best. No matter what it was, she did it perfectly right. Laurie was puzzled, about how she got this special ability, because it was even there in kindergarten while learning her numbers or doing a jigsaw puzzle.
She just had to, she felt, if she was given a task, she had to perform it just right. That also built a strong sense of obedience and respect in her. That was why she always got an A in her assessments, every time without fail.
Her aunt and uncle were very proud about this, and always beamed in delight when she showed them the big A + scrawled on her test papers.
Her aunt, who was a teacher, always showed Laurie as an example to the parents who were doubtful about sending their children to Midwest Public School( the school in which her aunt worked as a mathematics teacher.)
She is a dear, really,’ Laurie’s aunt would say to the apprehensive parents,
‘ She always, and I mean always( with a wink) completes any task assigned to her in the best way possible. She is an amazing, perfect girl.”
Thus, Laurie was always praised by grown- ups. She jumped from grade after grade in flying colours.
Soon, she got her letter from Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, much to her surprise of course and set off with her pet owl Bella.
“ I don’t want to go Aunty. I am not sure I would fit in there. What if I have no friends and I will be all lonely?”

Her aunt then explained her to think of it as a task, and to do her best over there. Soon, she was sorted into Slytherin, and she had also made a lot of friends as well.
Her schoolwork also was deeply praised, as there was not even one mistake in her work. She also grasped the spells and potions faster than others. If she was ever given an assignment , she would strive to do her best.
She did it perfectly.
