Santario arched an eyebrow at the professor when he quickly rose from his seat and she took a half-step backward. He asked for forgiveness, and she observed him something was also not right here. Why was it no matter where she went, something was always wrong? It was as if an infectious plague was spidering its way through the very veins of Hogwarts, affecting anything and everything within its path. If she couldn’t trust Professor Price, then who on staff could she trust? She listened to the other two girls speak their tales of what had happened, and she was happy that she had not been given any candy. Then again, she had been systematically pushing all of her friends away since she came back from winter break, so of course, no one gave her anything… Why would they?

A pang of resentment ran through her as she shoved it down and tried to ignore it. She thought eating all three candies at the same time was the dumbest idea that they could have come up with. However, it was what the others seemed to want clearly none of them understood potions well enough to realize that all 3 of them would probably kill them. Potions were very apt to just turning into poison, especially when mixed with things they shouldn’t be, like other potions. It wasn’t her grave, so oh well. Her eyes finally moved from the professor to Jorah when he stepped forward, offering his candy. The normal candy. She looked from his face to his hands and finally back to the professor but said nothing to contradict Jorah. She would not fight it if someone tried to take her candies from her and she would hand them to one of the other students next to her if they asked.

Quinn towering over everyone as per usual greeted each person as warmly as he could. Especially the potions professor he was unfamiliar with. Really Santario was the only person there he was very familiar with and one he considered a close friend, despite the short time he knew her. He was pleased when she greeted him back and rather silently for a change. He observed the various exchanges happening. Keeping his thoughts to himself as he watched the events unfold. People watching and observation was a very calming and fun game for him. Well it was more of an exercise but he treated it like a game. It made him very aware of his surroundings and people's actions.

He quirked his brow when he heard what Aurelia had to say. "Ye...ah'm pretty sure no one here want's a 7'6" Half-Giant with the strength of at least 2 men trying to eat them. It's why ah didn't say anything when ye suggested someone here eats all three. For various reasons that concerns no one 'ere ah wouldn't consume them anyway." He elaborated rather briefly. His thick accent coming off a bit more understandable on this day. Quinn than returned his attention from the commotion to the strange actions of the professor.

Yet again, but now crossing his arms, he silently watched. He was a tad relaxed now as he moved a bit closer to Santario. He kept observing prepared to act if necessary. He hoped nothing violent would come from it though. He was beginning to gain a reputation for fighting. That really bugged him.

Elliot’s hand closed around the candies presented to him by Jorah as he took his seat again.   “Thank you, Mister Moussa. Please, take a seat if you’d like.” He would say as he gestured the group towards the closest tables. It was an offer, not a command. With a long sigh he would lay the candies on the desk before him as they began to recount their interaction with the tainted sweets.

As Aurelia began to speak, he would eye her with caution. Although she seemed just fine, there was no way to tell how long the effects would last. He quickly scooped up his quill and after a quick dab into the ink well, Elliot began to take notes. “My goodness. I’m happy to hear that you are ok. Might I ask, can you remember how long the effects lasted? Are you still feeling them now?” Elliot would look up from his notes for just a moment before continuing. “So, the caramel induces a deep sense of jealousy.” His free hand tapped on the desk as he tried to think of a potion that could cause such a thing. “Perhaps a deviation of Gregory’s Unctuous Unction...” He scribbled away as he spoke.

The lemon sherbert made her want to...what?!” Elliot looked up in surprise. “Eat you? As in she try to actually bite your flesh?” His dark brown eyes would shift around as a thought came to mind. Again, he would write quickly as he spoke. “Mister Lansdale. If I remember correctly, he was trying to lick people after his poisoning. The night of the Masquerade Ball. It very well may be the same. Although, it was reported that he was hallucinating as well. Did you experience that at all, Miss Notrevace?”

Evelynn would be the next to address him. With a curt nod and a quick smile, he would silently thank her for her understanding. Elliot wrote down the description of the suspect as well as the time and place. He knew where he would be going as soon as this meeting was done. “I assure you Miss Decipio, he will be dealt with.”

She too would admit to buying one of the candies for the sake of research. The road to hell is paved with good intentions it would seem. “It’s ok Miss Decipio. It isn’t your fault that someone was doing this, but as you can see, it would have been best to go straight to a staff member. I do commend you for your efforts though. Well done.”

The chocoball provided a sense of lust. An emotion that is often linked with love, but the two could not be anymore different. The physical desires of the body can toy with the mind, but true love comes from a place that can’t be dissected.

“Right you are Miss Decipio. It does sound a lot like the deadly sins.” Elliot had grown up in Muggle Birmingham and had attended enough services to know what she spoke of. Then, a thought popped into his mind. As he shifted in his chair he rummaged through his stack of notes. The tapestries from the Gryffindor Common Room. They all were related to the physical senses, but the one that represented desire remain unchanged. Elliot shook away the thought as it just seemed too vague.

The Professor’s eyes would widened once again with surprise as Quinn put in his thoughts. “Eat all three at once! Has someone already done this.” He took a moment to let the shock subside. “I do appreciate your analytical thinking children, but doing so would be highly dangerous.” As the words escaped his lips the thought came to mind. “However...perhaps that is the intention of whoever is behind this.” Galton Lansdale would enter his thoughts once more. Could it be that this is what happened to the poor boy?

“Ok. I’m going to try something.” Elliot began to explain as he opened the drawer of his work desk and removed a scalpel. He would then unwrap the candies and begin to slice off small pieces from each one. “You see, throughout my years of brewing potions, I have developed a resistance, you could say, to their effects. This doesn’t mean that I will not feel the effects, but I will be able to notice that I have been poisoned. Hopefully, by sampling a small portion of each one, I may be able to determine their combined effects. Here goes nothing.” With that, Elliot would through the three sample into his mouth and swallow.

Brows rippled, subtle lines forming on Evelynn's forehead as her gaze flicked from the Profess to Jorah as he spoke and then to the offered candies in his palm. Provided she was not mistaken, and that she hadn't missed an exchange of confectionery somewhere, those were not the laced candies. The Ravenclaw boy had accepted the control from Aurelia, while simultaneously relinquishing (along with Healy) the laced items to the third girl there. Her gaze dipped to Santario's hand, and sure enough, within its hold remained those candies she had previously collected.

Perhaps Jorah didn't trust the Professor, then, she mused. Or perhaps this was a test? Either way, like the Slytherin girl, Evelynn offered no interference, nor reaction (save for the subtle confusion on her countenance). Instead, she merely watched on as the Professor, seemingly oblivious to the façade, accepted the tribute, then sidled further into the classroom to take a seat as offered.

All thoughts of the small deceit became quickly overshadowed as the professor began to speak his thoughts on their reports. It was for this reason after all, to hear his reflections, that they had come. Evelynn (like Santario), in particular, held the potions professor in high esteem. From her bag, she pulled a leather-bound journal, flipped it open to a new page, and jotted down a few notes:
Sticky Caramel: jealousy/envy — Gregory's Unctuous Unction??
—> experienced by Aurelia
Lemon Sherbet: cannibalism/gluttony —
—> observed by Aurelia
—> Landsdale (Galton??), Masquerade Ball, poisoned, licking people, hallucinating
Chocoball: love/lust —
—> experienced by Jo
It was just as she was finishing that the Professor announced his intent to try something. Her attention hooked, she watched on curiously. She noted the scalpel and its action almost immediately. Of course. It made sense. In theory, assuming the potion would be evenly spread throughout the edible, eating only a small portion could give an indication of its effect while minimizing adverse reactions. Of course, nothing would happen in this particular instance, she knew.

Even had the candies he consumed actually been laced, she still held a certain level of doubt. Would it be enough, those tiny slivers? Were potions the same as mundane concoctions, where their impact could still be felt but only lessened? Or was it all or nothing, where you had to consume the full dose or the magical properties wouldn't take hold? And if he was resistant, as he said, what if he felt nothing at all anyway? Or worse, what if he did feel the effects? It was probably this notion, above the others, that unsettled her the most as the thought of a flesh-hungry zombie twisted her pristine image of the kindly professor.

And then, of course, there was also the simmering guilt that they were pulling one over on the old man. Once again, her gaze flickered over in Jorah's direction, and then to Santario. She hesitated for a moment, then tore the corner from a blank piece of loose parchment that she retrieved from her bag. She scrawled a quick note, then tried to catch Santario's gaze, sliding the note towards her.
I think we should give him the actual candies.

It was only right and had been expected for the professor to proceed with interrogating her about the candies. However, it was to Aurelia's chagrin that she was put in that spot for that matter. The candies were definitely laced, it happened only a day ago and she doubted that the absurd effects still lingered effects. She felt normal and completely sane.

"Hallucinations?" The word left her lips in a whisper her eyebrows furrowing together ever so slightly as she pondered on the possibilities. Ever since the incident, The girl never really went back to much thought about the whole ordeal. The girl Meenauh did have a strange aura to her, aside from the incoherent beauty -- which Aurelia assumed were the few effects on her perception that the sweets had--, the transition in colour that the chunks of hair which the monster hunter herself had cut of did not go unnoticed. An illusion? "Possibly, she seemed to have grown more... pleasing in appearance after I consumed the candy. The effects I experienced did come with violence and anger. The locks of hair morphed frizzier and darker when I pulled her hair." She explained.

The Ravenclaw boy got an inquisitive look from the Monster Hunter when he handed the professor the control candies which had been passed to Jorah from her. Surely Jorah could not have made a mistake or if he had the memory of a goldfish. But what took her aback was the professors, she would say, an impulsive, idea to consume the candies. Despite the fact that the older man had claimed to have a potion resistance and was, in fact credible given that he was the professor of potions, no one could possibly know how potent the chemicals in the sweets were and Aurelia could too careful either.

From her peripheral vision, the little shuffle of movement caught her attention so did the note scribbled on the piece of paper in the younger Gryffindor's hands. Although the note was not meant for her, she replied out loud. "No, we should not." If the Professor got them in his hands, that would only put all of them in danger. Perhaps not the tall giant who was more than capable in protecting himself from a possible hallucinating, cannibalistic, envious and violent 60 year old adept in magic than any of them were. "What I meant, professor, was that you should not have consumed all three at once." She covered.

Professor Elliot took the candies from Jorah's hand and directed the students to sit. Jorah felt the eyes of his companions staring at him as he took his seat. He felt a sensation flow from the base of his feet up through his body electrifying him with a nervous energy, it was fear. If anyone alerted Price to Jorah's deception, their mission could be over as soon as it started, but more importantly they might be the next ones to end up missing. Jorah wanted to find out what happened to Lear, but he had no intention of sharing the same fate as the lost Headmaster.

Professor Elliot did not turn on the students after the candy exchanged hands, this was a good sign. A quiet sigh of relief left Jorah as he watched the professor take down notes from the students. If Elliot was a member of this conspiracy, he played his part well. Then came the moment they were waiting for. Elliot unwarped the candies and sliced off small portions of each. He revealed to the group that he possessed a resistance to poisons and that he wanted to know what would happen if the candies were combined. With that he swallowed samples from each.

Perfect! This is exactly what Jorah wanted to know as well. He waited patiently for the professor's reaction. If he was worth his salt as a potions master he shouldn't detect any poison in the control candies. If he did detect poison, then the group would learn that Price couldn't be trusted and they would have to escape with the real candies. "No, we should not...What I meant, professor, was that you should not have consumed all three at once," Aurelia jumped in. Jorah hadn't noticed Evelynn's note and assumed Aurelia was just playing along. Jorah followed her lead. "Yes, it could be dangerous, but we need to know and we won't find anyone better to tell us what we came here to find out. How do you feel professor?"
