@SapphireStormTeam

Spring air shimmered above the pitch, carrying with it the scent of freshly cut grass. It wasn't an official match per se, just a random match with mostly random teammates. Suzuki Kanae hovered a few feet above the ground before nudging her broom slightly higher, her gloved fingers absentmindedly tightening around the handle as the game was about to start.

A part of her was thankful that a certain chunk of her own team was Mahoutokoro, even including a person who isn't on their team! It made her happy that another person was going to be interested in the sport, they're going to need it when graduation flies by and takes their lovely seniors. She welcomed that. The person being @Mio Kasasagi, someone who was on the same boat as her, @Miharu Goto, and a junior. Kanae patted their back and gave them a kind smile.

Looking over at her teammates—a bunch of youngins and quite a lot of people her age—she smiled and greeted. "Nice meeting you all." in her usual sweet tone. Her gaze went on to the other team and noticed someone familiar @Zophyr Qethnis. The particular fellow was stuck with her and another guy (Reuben) in a tavern escape room. Kanae had a fun time though she wished she could've interacted with them more. Another somewhat familiar person was a beater she played in her first Quidditch match a year or so back (Mahoutokoro won of course, thanks to their amazing seeker).

Instead of a student, their moderator was a lovely person from Hogwarts staff. At least now there's adult supervision this time that's not from upper year school students with lots of motivation to win or die.

There was a fun twist in this match, which was the main reason she joined. The twist basically just: do whatever the hell you want as long as it's Quidditch. Hell yeah, Kanae would enjoy that. She's only played as chaser for the past few years on the team and it was curious to her on how much chaos this kind of playing would bring.

This was going to be exciting. They were playing an unofficial Quidditch match, but with a twist. Landon was nervous but excited about the whole concept. Landon loved Quidditch, and, any time he could practice his skills in preparation for becoming First String next year in Hufflepuff, was a good time for him. Landon walked out to the Quidditch Stadium, his trusty Silver Arrow in his hand, and he smiled as he looked at the people already gathered there.

Landon didn't know many of the people on the pitch, but he was still looking forward to meeting new people and working together with his team. He was curious as to how this match would turn out. He would give it his all, like he did for every Quidditch practice. He had yet to play in an official game, but once this term was over, he'd be the First String player.

Landon smiled as he mounted his broom and kicked off on the ground. He flew toward Damien and grinned. "Seems we just can't get away from these unofficial games," he said. They had been in another match before, so it wasn't unfamiliar territory. "Just wait, next year I'll be playing in every official game and I'll get to play against you then too," he observed. Landon flew in a circle around Damien with a smile. He was so excited for this game.

Blaize found himself in yet another unofficial game, one that was likely more dangerous than Wizard Chess. Quidditch, a sport he had heard many a things about. The castle was eerily quiet on days that official matches were held as it was the most competitive sport they had. Dueling was.. well they didn't have any grandstands so that cut down the audiences quite a bit. Part of him was intrigued about joining the Quidditch team, especially about the tough first match he had as a Broom Racer. Well, either way he would stick with the sport he had chosen for now and experience other sports through questionable means like this match he found himself in. The Great Hall was, well, great for showing off flyers, and this one had caught his eyes, as well as a few familiar and unfamiliar names, @Landon Matthews, an older Hufflepuff student being one of them. If he recalled correctly, the boy even played Quidditch himself so he would keep a close eye on the boy. Lucky for him, Blaize was chosen to start as a second-string and merely watch for now and get more well acquainted with his broom. A shaky exhale escaped him as they made their way out onto a pitch, which felt way more formal than he was ready for. And people did this for fun? His sister would probably get a kick out of it, all eyes on her and feeling the wind through her hair, being the wild child, she was.

𝕿he fierce light piercing through the faint layer of clouds obscuring the sky above caused the usually honey-colored locks cascading down Elena's shoulder to appear dulled, as though cumulonimbus were, too, clouding the blonde hues of her hair. One hand raised to shield herself from the sun, the daughter of the moon was shaken by the wind, taking decided steps towards the terrain. Introvert as always, the raven quietly slipped herself onto the designated bench, knee rising and falling quickly, as delicate fingers caressed the polished wood of her trusted broom.

Her silver arrow had been with her for a while now, and she adored it. Lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt a presence plopping down by her side, and was soon met with two kisses on either cheek from a familiar brunette. "Cami!" she beamed, suddenly more joyful about the perspective of spending endless rounds on an uncomfortable bench. As much as she loved everything that quidditch entailed, playing was still a major part of it.

Eyes trailing from her friend's eyes to the broom he held against his chest, she frowned. "Please tell me you brought another one with you." A firebolt? For someone who had, to her knowledge, little to no experience about these games? Stars help her. Noticing the game was about to start, she settled down next to Camille, alert.

As Spring came into full swing, the April blossoms blooming and the pigmy puff infestation taken care of, there was only one thing missing to truly mark the beginning of that year's spirit of renewal. For many, that one thing remained absent in their heart, a letter not needing to be opened. But when a star becomes a supernova, it is impossible not to be missed. Too many souls do not realize there is a supernova inside them waiting to show its true colors, find the place where it can thrive.

For Lyanna, this place of freedom, the ability to breathe, it all stemmed from one thing.

Quidditch.

That was the place she had found that allowed her to shine without being seen nor heard, to feel everything without it piercing too deep into her heart, to laugh without the aftertaste of guilt. It felt like a dream incarnated, but for once, it wasn't a nightmare. She was ready to soar.

On this specific occasion, a group had come together for an unofficial match, ready to test how well they could do as a newly formed team after only a couple practice-runs. It was nice to have a few familiar faces alongside her. Having changed into her Quidditch uniform, the sunchild walked onto the pitch with a different handle gripped tightly than that of her trusted Moontrimmer, the sleek wood resting on her shoulder blade, ready to do what it took to win.

It was time.

She had been chosen as one of the first strings, a strange occasion as she had always been benched in the past. Positioning herself on her borrowed broom, she was ready to take to the skies.

-april 18, 2026 | quidditch pitch, hogwarts -

For one formerly boisterous Haitian lion, much of his tenure at Hogwarts remained an agonizing, achinglh long lull.

Loathsome was it that his former-Herbology Professor mother hadn’t taken initiative to yank him from this dreary school to another—and yet, had the eldest of the Toussaint brood not been expelled from Castelobruxo, perhaps things would be different.

Hogwarts always lacked that sense of warmth his mother described so long ago. Perhaps it existed in a time before a certain Professor crucio’d him, or perhaps before the infamous Hogsmeade explosion, but who was he to know. These days, Alphonse’s presence beyond the classroom was a rare sight—though anyone who had the misfortune of knowing the Gryffindor recognized his steadfast devotion to Quidditch. It spoke for himself before any words ever escaped his mouth.

The theory could be attested as Alphonse donned his Quidditch uniform with pride, or sporting Carribean teams’ memorabilia, the ironclad grip on one of his brooms as if preparing to escape—again, or his frequent presence on the pitch.

Amid the week, that had been where his mind was at the thought of the upcoming Quidditch Spring tournaments.

Earlier that week, the familiar yet pesky Damien had planted the seed—pleading that Alphonse participate in an unofficial, using their brotherly bond as leverage.

Ever the classic form of manipulation, of course, and to no surprise coming from a Ravenclaw; albeit completely unnecessary, as Alphonse would’ve agreed regardless to get additional, much needed reps in.

It was just a shame that his bestfriend, Prat, wasn’t there.

Quidditch, new rules… say less. That was how easy it was to get Miharu's attention this time. Despite the stoic look on her face, the lack of drastic changes or any signs of joy or excitement, one could tell that she was interested upon hearing about it.

A waste of time.

That's what her parents would say but what they don't know would not hurt them and besides, Haru wanted to try it out, this thing that they call fun. Quidditch could get intense. As a long time player of the Mahoutokoro Quidditch Team, she would know that. Each and every player would sometimes forget what fun was, focusing more on the win, her included. A nice game where stakes are low would be a nice change for once until she was back on that pitch where victory was all that matters. Besides, this would be a good practice for her, to make up for her absences before and ignoring most of their training sessions.

Lucky for her, she wasn't the only one from Mahoutokoro who decided to join in on this game. There was Kanae Suzuki, a classmate of hers and Mio Kasasagi. Weren't they the same people she had shared a boat with before? Talk about coincidences. Them aside, the other people in their team were strangers to her… almost anyway. One of the boys present was a familiar one, someone that she had seen years ago on her first Summer Camp. Right, she had shared a cabin with him before if she remembered correctly. Well, enough about the whole reminiscing of the past. The game was starting and while she was here mostly to practice and loosen up a bit, that doesn't mean she wouldn't be giving it her all.

1/ In the role of Seeker, if an opponent attempts to Bludger or Blatch you, there is a 20% chance that you veer out of the way the last second and another enemy player at RANDOM is targeted instead.

Note: The new target still gets their normal dodge attempt. This is not considered to be an auto-dodge, in fact this roll is done before any accuracy rolls are done.

2/ In the role of Chaser, if you have a contested quaffle grab and a contested strength roll between yourself and another user is in progress, unless they have the same broom, you would be the victor of the contested quaffle grab. In addition, rounds where you are successfully carrying the quaffle in an attempt to score, you only take half-damage from bludgers and blatching attempts.

Zoph's pronouns are currently she/her
For the first time in her life, Zophyr did not want to be on the Quidditch pitch. It was a place of joy and excitement, which were emotions she had not been experiencing for a little while now. Alright, sometimes Quidditch could cheer her up a little, back at Uagadou, but this time she was at Hogwarts of all places, the worst possible school to be doing this at. Just the sight of it all, the pitch she'd flown over with Maurice back in October...

She never should have signed up for this.

But it was too late now, and it hadn't been her fault. She had signed up ages ago, before any of this had become a painfully nostalgic memory. If nothing wrong had happened, would Maurice be here with her? Maybe he wouldn't have had to go home, maybe he... gods, she was being selfish, and there was no chance of her winning this stupid game if she kept thinking this way.

The good news was that there was much to distract her. First of all, the broom in her hand was very different - a brand new Silver Arrow she'd gotten herself in the winter! Though she would always be partial to her beloved Nimbus 1500, this beauty would definitely make a difference. And on top of that, this unofficial game was going to have some interesting new rules, that she was very much looking forward to see played out.

Though it was rather hilarious that the Hogwarts Caretaker seemed to think the game was going to be "clean" and "fair", as though any Quidditch game had ever been either of those. Zophyr found it even funnier to watch the other students' stifled reactions - many rolled their eyes, and there was even an almost-laugh.

Looking around as the players started preparing themselves, she realized quite a few of them clearly hadn't played Quidditch in a considerably long time. Perhaps that was the point of unofficial games, though she did find it quite curious. There was at least one familiar face, thankfully (it made things much more interesting that way) - a certain Kanae, from a ball a few years ago. Zophyr gave her a small wave across the pitch. She made the Uagadou student think of Reuben, which just made her mood worse. Stars, she missed her best friend.

Whatever. Whatever! She had to think of something else or she'd play shittily, and Zophyr was always one to put in the most effort she could. She took pride in her playing. She had to prove her worth, she had earned this spot on the team and she wasn't going to let them down. They were a good team, too - Zophyr didn't truly know this, actually, because she didn't know a good number of them, but their team color was purple, which was the best color, and that had to count for something. Maybe that would give her just enough enthusiasm to get her head in the game and win this dumb thing she didn't even want to be taking part in. Let's do this.

Quidditch. It wasn’t a sport he was not used to due to his pureblood background, yet he grew up more familiar with his surfboard than a broomstick. He wasn’t quite sure why he was here. It was merely an impulse to make him sign up for the game. An adrenaline junkie, you might call him. He wouldn’t mind it because it was truth.

Walking into the Quidditch stadium, the unfamiliar environment didn’t throw him off; he was intrigued to see how his attempt at trying this sport would go. Gradually getting used to the cool spring weather and the wind on the Scottish Highlands, the young Japanese wore the casual activewear, well-prepared. This was his first time visiting Hogwarts; thus, he barely knew anyone here. He didn’t mind the fact. Glancing around with his obsidian eyes, he had registered some upper-class students from Mahoutokoro. Although the component was mostly Hogwarts students.

He held his Comet 180 tightly, which was from an old family friend of his. It was a nice and steady broom for a novice like him. Fixing his raven hair and seeing the first stringers kicked off from the ground, he strode forward to the bench area. He sat down with some other second stringers. The rules of this game were altered from the usual one. Unexpected things would happen eventually. Composed and with an impeccable sitting posture, Hayato looked up in the air. The game was about to start.

Zach made a wild decision again to fly. Though he was better after some practice with his friend, @Landon Matthews, the flying he would do this time jumped up crazy. He didn't do any race like before or mild flying practice to avoid some obstacles. This time, he played Quidditch. Yes, the game where they have a crazy ball that could crush your bones.

He took out his dusty Silver Arrow from his trunk. Dusty, since the last time he used it was last year, when he raced with Ravenclaw Broom Racing team. He only used School Broom to practice with Landon since it was safer. "Uh... Sorry, Silver Arrow. You must be lonely in there. But don't worry, you will be happy again today. We are going to play Quidditch," he said to his broom.

Zach tended the broom to check if there was any problem with it. He polished it and trimmed the messy part. After it looked handsome and shiny, Zach brought the broom to the Quidditch Stadium. He also didn't forget to bring batches of potions that he thought would be beneficial if he brought them, such as Calming Draught.

In the Quidditch Stadium, some students from many schools were already prepared. Zach put his satchel on one of the benches and walked. He looked for Landon and saw that he was talking with a boy. Zach just waited and, at the same time, to calm himself before the game started.

Zach decided to approach Landon once he finished talking and he calmed himself down. "We're playing on the same team," he smiled at him softly. His lips were actually pale; the boy hid his anxiety. "Be careful. If you're hurt, I had brought some potions for first aid," he added. Though his words were more to calm himself, he also meant it. He didn't want any of them being hurt from the game, though it could be impossible.

Then he flew once the referee was about to start the game.
