Backstory

Reducio Evaline Valerie Hawthorne was brought into this world on a storm-softened summer night, in the east wing of the Hawthorne estate. The house had existed longer than most of the streets around it, its walls lined with portraits that watched new generations arrive with quiet judgment. She was the last child of two, very old, very influential witch and wizard, who lived most of their lives before she had taken her first breath. By the time Evaline was born, her mother, Anastasia’s hair was already threaded with grey, and her father, Nikoli’s hands were already trembling when he held her. She arrived small, sharp-eyed, pale, and strangely alert. The healers said she barely cried. Instead, she stared. Her brothers, seven of them, had been born years before her, raised in splendor and expectation. When Evaline came along, they were all grown and influential wizards. Some were studying, some were traveling, and some worked in the Ministry. To them, she was less a sister, and more a miraculous daughter. A fragile, luminous thing, in pink fur blankets, with her family’s legacy on her tiny shoulders. But, they adored her. From the second she could walk, Evaline was a whirlwind of chaos. She was untameable and fiery, and her family loved that. She was controlled, in different aspects, given her blood, but she never dwelled much on the thought. When she was four, her parents healthy declined, and she was sent off to live with Hugh, her brother, and his wife alara. It wasn’t because she was unloved, no never that. Her parents couldn't control the whirlwind she was becoming. All her brothers played a part in her personality and her upbringing. Some snuck her into restricted areas, some taught her jinxs and hexes, some sat her down and made her recite Magic Theory, over and over again. They spoiled her shamelessly, everything she owned was pink and black, either silk, lace or fur. They taught her how to duel, with toy wands that she either broke, or made explode 5 minutes later after getting it. Her parents loved, of course, but distantly. They visited often, bringing her love and gifts, and mini guillotines for her dolls. Hugh and Alara were like her parents. Hugh taught her discipline, and magical history, and Alara taught her how to be a little witch, how to do a curtsy while secretly hexing someone, the art of smiling sweetly while planning 6 steps ahead. Her other brothers, Viktor, Dante, Ian, Enoch, Edmund, and Royce, visited often, leaving behind an imprint in her mind every time they did. And with that came confidence, sharp, theatrical confidence. She learned to speak beautifully, to walk like she owned the room, to smile like she knew something you didn’t. In her community she became instantly popular: dazzling, strange, magnetic. She made friends easily, but only kept the ones who amused her, intrigued her, or challenged her. Her brothers wanted to hide her away from the word, of course, but they never did. They encouraged her to go outside, and make friends. She also had a best friend, Cher. She was a muggle-born witch, and the complete opposite of Evie. She was blonde, and bright, and an absolute bottle of sunshine. Evaline hated sunshine naturally. So of course, they became best friends. Evaline would do the most inane things, while Cher was trying to pull her back, while getting roped into it herself. By the time she got her letter from hogwarts, Evaline was a half- legend amongst her family. She was a sharp, unstable, unpolished little jewel, Under the glamour and arrogance, though, lived a child who had been raised by expectations and half-finished goodbyes. A girl who joked about chaos because stillness frightened her. And so Evaline became what she is now: She's brilliant, sure, but also the kind of person who'd probably burn down a library just to see how the flames looked against the old books. Basically, she grew up with enough love to feel invincible and enough freedom to become a problem.

Reducio The first time she did something magical, by herself,( she was 8 ) was when muggle boy cornered and begun to tease one of her best friends, Cher, for being a witch. Evaline was walking home from the store when she saw. She snapped back, sharp, relentless, and furious. As her thoughts raced, the air around her crackled. Windows rattled. A nearby stack of stones lifted and scattered violently across the ground, stopping inches from the muggle boys foot. The silence afterward was absolute. Evaline stood there, heart racing, not scared, but thrilled. She understood complete, she had enough older siblings. She was a witch! She looked shakily at Cher, who looked pointedly at the boy , who watched with wide eyes. Evaline couldn't hold it, she ran back home, and banged on the door of the manor. " HUGHHHHHHH! IT HAPPENED!!!" she basically screamed. Her older brother, and his wife, Alara, opened the door. Evaline jumped into her brothers arms. " I'm so proud, Evie!" He said, holding her close. " Alara was watching, and the muggle boy was obliverated" Even though she was mostly pure blood, there was always a chance for being a squib. But she wasn't! She was a witch! And she was going to Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry!

Her brothers often describe her as, " a cherubs face, with a devils smile." Her most striking feature is her cat eyes, huge, expressive, and a fathomless dark green that seems far too knowing for an eleven-year-old. They are always alert, always calculating, always sparkling with mischief or curiosity, as though the world is a puzzle she intends to solve for entertainment. Sometimes, her eyes dilate into cat slits. Her skin is pale and porcelain-soft, dusted with a natural flush across her cheeks that betrays her youth no matter how composed she tries to appear. Her hair is ink-black, sleek by nature, falling in glossy waves down her back when left loose, which it almost always is. Two light pink streaks cut through the darkness, deliberate and bold, as if she grew bored of perfection and decided to improve it. It is often half-tied, half-forgotten, perpetually a little mussed from running fingers through it or removing hairbands in impatience. At only 4’8, Evaline is small, slender, and deceptively delicate, an illusion she finds endlessly amusing. She moves with dramatic confidence, posture elegant even when disheveled, managing to look glamorous despite torn hems, untied laces, or ink smudges on her hands. There is always something slightly undone about her: a crooked ribbon, a loosened tie, hair just on the edge of chaos. She looks like a porcelain doll who escaped her display case.
