Quidditch Ilvermorny-Tenusa vs. Beauxbatons-Castelobruxo-Uagadou-Koldovstoretz - Summer 2025

If ever asked what she looked forward to, Kit replied with summer camp. While perhaps looking for more aspirational answers, the Beauxbatons student loved meeting wixes from other schools and especially so competing against or with them. There was something about the shuffling of teams and new exciting players to bring life to the pitch once more, a new challenge outside of weather and current mood. Beauxbatons had done pretty well this year in supplying a team but they still had room to find any wayward quidditch players, amassing a collection of new faces from 3 different schools. Kit would excitedly greet them all, mentioning her curiosity to see them all play. If those on the bench ended up staying on the bench - unlikely but who knew? - then maybe Kit could convince them to a little scrimmage after.

Raphael's thumbs up would return with a grin and a wink, especially excited to see what tricks he might pull off. Sure he was new to Quidditch, but he certainly wasn't new to the skies and Kit hoped to learn quite a bit from the former Broom Racer. Much the same could be said for their new teammate, wondering how the curriculums and trainings might change from school to school. She'd turn to them now, just before they could take to the skies. "Nice to meet ya! Excited to see you play, we've got your back. You'll do great, though, I'm sure." Hopefully reassuring, Kit smiled before grabbing her broom and completing those final preparations for the game to begin.

Anyone who knew Phyllis--her friends, her Ilvermorny teammates, even her newfound Tenūsa teammates if left to listen to her long enough--knew that this was her element. Close-cropped grass underfoot, broom in her hand, the faint early promises of wind through her hair. For years, Phyllis had breathed Quidditch, dreamed Quidditch, talked about Quidditch to anyone who would listen, and the seventeen-year-old had only calmed down marginally from making the obsession her entire personality. She did look different today, though, than she had in years past. The new broom in her hand, for one, was an exciting addition, wood shinier than she'd been ever able to polish her Silver Arrow in the last few years and promising faster speeds, better handling. The other difference was her hair, cropped after a minor splinch while learning to apparate and only barely peeking out of her helmet. Phyllis carried herself like the lost weight was noticable, and she'd never been short on confidence.

Today was her last game in the London Quidditch Stadium. Not that she was the kind of person to dwell on lasts a lot, really, but it was impossible not to notice, especially when some of the other new seventh years were carrying it on their shoulders. Her goal for herself today was simple: play hard, be someone her younger teammates could look up to. And if she went out--which she did not want to, because playing was much more fun, but such was the chaos of Quidditch--she'd be leaving things to Tenūsa's Keeper, Kavi, and he looked like he'd do an excellent job. It was kind of a shame that they only got to play with the other schools once a year, allies and opponents for too short of a time to really get to know them out on the pitch. Even just a game of pick-up Quidditch sometime would be fun.

She was all bright smiles and words of encouragement as they took to the field, loud and bouncing a bit on the balls of her feet, trying to get everyone's energy up. Patching together school teams like this tended to make for pretty improvised teamwork, but they would figure it out, she was sure. Quidditch was Quidditch across the world, and all that was left to think about was playing.

In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).

In the role of Keeper a critical success on an attempt to block a goal not only means that the Keeper caught the quaffle but they have also successfully passed the quaffle (without a chance of interception) to an allied target of their choice. A critical failure in this case cannot happen for a Keeper, they get to re-roll the attempt to block.
Note: Critical failure and critical success chances can be expanded with certain abilities and skills.

In the role of Keeper, if the Keeper effectively blocks an attempt to score rather than obtain possession of the quaffle they can kick the quaffle at the user who attempted to score. This must be declared at the time actions are submitted. This would have damage like a bludger using an accuracy roll to hit and the user's strength score to determine the amount of damage done. If the quaffle hits or misses the target, a quafflegrab the next round would be necessary to determine which team has possession of the quaffle again.

Louca was excited to get back on the pitch. It was one of his favorite places to be, and the fact that it was at the London quidditch stadium which seemed to loom larger than the one at Ilvermorny (though that could just be his perception) added an extra level of excitement. He was ready to get on his broom and just fly, especially given the practice he’d been putting in to make sure he’d be a benefit to his teammates.
Enthusiastically mounting his broom, he prepared to kick off.

Everest rolled his shoulders as he stepped onto the Quidditch pitch, eyes scanning the surroundings around him. He was still relatively new to magical sports, and their sheer scale could overwhelm him at times — growing up in a Muggle environment, Everest had been accustomed to athletes staying firmly planted on the ground as they chased a ball around or attempted to tackle each other. Adding flying on brooms to the equation had thrown him quite a bit the first time someone had tried to explain Quidditch to him.

Nevertheless, Everest had adapted and could proudly say that he now enjoyed the sport as both a spectator and participant. Although he would be starting on the bench during this match, Everest wasn't worried or frustrated in the least. He was more than happy to cheer on his teammates from the sidelines — he had always preferred observing before acting, and it would be beneficial to size the opposition up.

Settling onto the bench, Everest rolled his shoulders and patted his broom reassuringly. They could do this.

This match, no matter how it ended, was going to have to be more even than last year’s matchup. Playing against Durmstrang was like, was like…. No! That was unlike, anything he’d ever encountered in the world of sports. It didn’t help matters that it was his first Quidditch match after leaving the Broom Racing team (all because of Miles, a bet, and well – his own hubris). He should demand a rematch. In fact, he likely would.

He pivoted towards Miles as he finished inspecting his broom, and gave a quick nod and some snark before pushing off and heading into position. “Try not to get KOBd in the first round like last year, will ya? Didn’t your pure-blood parents ever tell you it’s rude to invite someone to a party and then almost immediately lay down and go to sleep?" Stephen smiled, but the smile came a little wider when Miles cracked a grin with nary a plant in sight.

He made a point of flying by his teammates and high-fiving all of them, and then called over to the other team, wishing them all good luck. He nodded his head towards Yasha, and then began to scan the audience for EmmaLee. Her boyfriend and two of her best friends were playing in the same match, and not all on the same side. He idly wondered which team she’d cheer for and then dismissed it, knowing she’d be rooting for Ilvermorny for the win and for Yasha to have a great showing.

That was fair. It was a balancing act she had become somewhat accustomed to, knowing so may people from different schools. In this moment, Stephen cared less about who she cheered on and more about not embarrassing her, or himself, like last year.

He found her in the crowd and waved enthusiastically in her direction. Then not wanting to have his snarky comment with Miles before the game be the last thing Miles heard, he brusquely called out his name. When he looked over at Stephen, he was greeted with a thumb’s up.

But not just any thumb. Before leaving the locker room, Stephen had painted his thumb green.

“You’re welcome.”

Kavi clenched his jaw, tightening his grip on the broom in his other hand. It was the same broom he used during his Keeper days- though it had been a few years, seeing as he switched primarily to Beater back at his school, it was good to ensure his skills were sharp. His Tenūsa teammates sat by him, each off in their own pre-game ritual. Apparently for Kavi, his had turned into staring down the pitch, ignoring everything else going on. He wasn't worried about the full moon or his siblings aggressively screaming his name (although he wasn't even on the pitch) or even Sunday offering him a bracelet, which he accepted without breaking eye contact with the field. He had learned it was best to let Sunday do her Sundayisms, the Ilvermorny half of their team would soon learn the same, he was sure. It would be quite the thrill to see how everyone fared in the heat of the moment.
