#8477ff UkrainianShe was poised to fire against the opposing team like a bullet. But before she could cast, Irina saw the face of her brother in the crowd. And like the school traitor he was, he supported the opposing team. Her breath quickened and and her mind blinded. What if there were others in the crowd too? She slowly pulled her mind together, just in time to dodge an incoming spell. Irina didn’t return Vladislav’s nod as she returned to her dueling poise. She wouldn’t let this arrogance of a person direct her. As if she needed a push in general either.· ✬ · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ✬ ·Stats and Abilities: Sta.8 · Eva.8 · Str.3 · Wis.7 · ArcPow.6 · Acc.9 — Fearless • Perfectionist

Summer Duels: Match 3
Nikolai knew he wouldn't be ready to step onto the field. The wand in his hand though repaired from its once broken state still felt alien to his touch. A foreign object supposedly meant to amplify his own power felt entirely disconnected from his soul. A soul that was struggling to be here from the start.
Ever since October everything about magic had felt off, shifted in the broken pieces of the carnage his life had become. Another piece of the traumatic puzzle his life had shattered to create. Now standing in the arena asked to fight against others no older than himself he pondered over the point of it all. More senseless violence parading about as sport, the entire motion made him want to throw up. Yet instead the boy simply found himself disassociated for the first two rounds.
Spells fired his way and he barely cared to dodge, his body moving reflexively, not by choice or even particularly by care, in muscle memory. Had he not been so focused on the trial and recovery Nikolai surely would have dropped the sport all together but in the haze of confusion and pressure of the weighting noise that seemed near constant in his mind he had forgotten.
Everything just felt so hopeless, he was so frustrated. Then suddenly without thought or motive, his wand was raised and as if possessed by the spirit of his family his wand lit with a vengeance he had no intention of delivering.

Hm, quiet. Momo expected the participants of duelling to be a bit more lively, or to at least match the energy of the crowd. Perhaps she'd read the room wrong, so she dialed it back and reached out to nudge her partner. But it seemed like he was finally back to his senses as she saw him take up a battle stance. "Welcome back to the party, mate. I hope you don't need the play-by-play of what you missed."

It seemed whatever gods were up in the clouds were listening to them because miraculously, miraculously, everyone woke up and threw a spell. And by everyone, that included the Durmstrang boy that had been standing still since the start of the match. Not only that, things were finally getting exciting.
The moderator cheered. "Now that's what I'm talking about!"
From the looks of it, Koldovstoretz were paying for their inaction from the previous round. What was supposed to be a spell aimed for the Tenūsa girl (if the direction their wand was aimed at was any indicator) ended up backfiring on the Koldovstoretz boy. He stiffened, then fell with a thump! to the ground, his center of gravity having changed from being paralysed. The Koldovstoretz girl, on the other hand, looked as though she couldn't find her footing and took both a Dancing-Feet Spell and a Fire-Making Spell — the stronger version with green flames and not the usual with red flames. Her legs were moving so fast, stomping in all sorts of directions that the moderator couldn't even tell where they were stepping next, which would definitely be a hassle during the next round of spells.
The moderator grimaced. "Gunther's on the ground, and Zvereva is dancing and on fire. Yikes! Not a great combo to deal with."
On the other side, things were going pretty well. The only attack that landed was a Knockback Jinx to the Durmstrang boy. The moderator gave them a silent clap. "They may have started out on the wrong foot, but Durmstrang and Tenūsa are heating things up, quite literally!"

Why did Vladislav have to be such a loser? Why? He would never be able to rep Koldovstoretz in a brighter light. All he needed to do was land some darn shots! That was all! Right? He sighed again. He was on the ground, paralyzed due to a backfiring from his wand. Stupid spell. God, why couldn't he just win. That's all that mattered to him.Action: Being discussedMy Spells

Summer Duels: Match 3
All of a sudden, things kicked off. The Durmstrang boy was definitely back in it, at least for one spell. Momo hoped he stayed that way, and when she watched him get hit by a Knockback Jinx, she expected that it would light a fire under him. As for herself, she prepared to evade something from the opposing boy whose wand was turned on her, but he seemed to have some trouble getting his spell to actually travel across the piste. And both spells from her team managed to strike their chosen target. Now all they had to do was not fall apart.

Summer Duels: Match 3
In the blink of an eye reactions that had seized him fired towards the girl but where he expected to hear the wailing screams that still haunted him often instead he heard nothing but heels clicking against wood. His instincts had not caused him to act like his father, for he was truly nothing like him. Still the sensation of casting on another made his stomach lurch slightly and for a moment he wondered if he could go on, until a knockback jinx pounded into his stomach. Eyes burning blue hot with fire he blinked towards the same girl he had instinctively attacked and seeing her now aflame reasoned that perhaps all this was really just sport. No one had to get hurt, well at least not after they had won.

For how well Koldovstoretz was doing in the beginning, it was an absolute jaw-dropper when the interschool team just kept bulldozing through with their attacks. The moderator almost felt bad for the girl who was left standing after her teammate fell from a backfired spell.
The combination of being on fire and dancing did not help her dodge. The Tenūsa player sent over the dreaded Curse of the Bogies, now adding to her ailments with snot dribbling down her nose (though the fire had died down now, so it was just the dancing feet left). Now, that all would've been fine if the Durmstrang player didn't hammer the final nail in the coffin with such a strong Knockback Jinx (a retaliation from the one she'd sent him previously, no doubt) that she also fell to the ground.
"The tables have turned! Koldovstoretz are still fighting, but it's definitely looking rough. Durmstrang and Tenūsa are keeping up the pressure."
The Koldovstoretz girl had also tried to aim a spell, but with the way she had been targetted previously, it didn't make a dent in the other team. The only hope for them was the fact the boy's spell had worn off, so he was slowly starting to feel his limbs and get back up.
