Not in Kansas Anymore

RPing as Cyrus Alexander Darsel (Ilvermorny iNPC)

The 'fit: a navy polo with a duck where the polo logo usually is and khaki cargo shorts! And Birkenstocks, not Crocs. And sunglasses. He has a backpack on, inside which is a magically-shrunken duffel bag.

He wasn't sure what he had expected. Even rose-tinted lenses could not predict everything. Whatever he expected, it was not that everyone would go along with his semblance of a plan. They mustn't have known him very well, then. Cyrus had never been known for his strategic genius, only his mad genius (a la a mad scientist) and lack of common sense. But when Johannes called him Psy-duck... whatever that meant... and said buddies they were? Well, if even Johannes were going along with it, then something was right.
'I have a moral objection towards sneaking in,' Cyrus noted lightly, not making eye contact with anyone in favour of staring at a bird that had just taken flight. He wondered what type of bird it was—it was rather light-coloured and fat, not a bird he saw often.
'Or, maybe we lost our family in the tower. I can try to cry on command if we need it.' Cyrus shrugged slightly, focusing on the conversation at hand once again. He was surprised when Johannes glanced at his photo, even more surprised when he insulted it, but... he was right, like it or not.
As for the glitter pen, well... 'It's okay. I was just surprised to have seen one. I liked to colour with those when I was little, those and the glow in the dark ones. I wonder if wizardkind has glitter ink. Or glowy ink. That would bring me joy.' He still disliked writing with feathers; often, he just used a dip pen. There were some things in the wizarding world he didn't think he would ever grow accustomed to.
'I guess, yeah, let's go,' Cyrus said, agreeing with Johannes. To Elias, he signed Come with us, we are... He paused. We go, he signed, mirroring Elias's sign, and then he pointed across the street.
But that was not all, was it? He felt the pricking at one's neck that one might feel when being watched, and he turned his head to see one Alyssea Brown, at whom he waved wildly, likely causing great embarrassment to those in his group who did not want to be very obviously tourists. 'HI, ALYSSEA! IT'S ME, CYRUS!' he yelled at the general vicinity. A few people, likely locals, looked at him with a mixture of concern and disdain. 'WE'RE CROSSING THE STREET!'
Bouncing on his feet, he would then begin to cross the street in earnest, hoping that Alyssea would join them, although if she was busy, that was also fine with him. He twirled across the zebra crossing, toes bouncing against black pavement, hair flouncing about him, and then he was on the other side. The grass was greener here, mostly since he could see over the wall and into what was probably once a watery moat but now had green, green grass, made vivid from the light of summer. 'So, guys, the plan is, we go tell the guard person, we lost our parents in the tower, and that they had our tickets with us, and we really, really need our parents. Does anyone think that won't work? Please be honest.'
To Elias, he signed, We say our parents, and pointed at the tower. Our parents have our papers. This good?
This was probably the worst thing he had ever done. But, truth be told, was this not better than trespassing? At least lying wasn't against the law.

Acacia's rejection of the glitter pen surprised Elias, he thought girls enjoyed glitter. He liked glitter. It was shiny. He liked shiny things, so he pocketed the pen with a Thank you to Johannes.
He tried watching his phone, he really did, but whether it was due to the overwhelming sound cues or some sort of magic malfunction the device just couldn't seem to process words. Or, sentences that made sense, rather. And it didn't help that Elias was not good at reading. It confused him. Admittedly less than it had say a year ago, now that he had so much practice writing in an English sentence structure, but still. English and ASL were very different, even if they had the same letters (technically) and words (again, technically). At least with the magic quill on the notebook, words were recorded accurately and even "translated" into grammatical structure more akin to ASL which greatly improved his comprehension even if he did have to reread sentences a few times. With the phone, though, the letters jumbled and flashed and made him feel even more dyslexic than usual. So he gave up, and delved back into the backpack for his notebook.
And they were crossing the street. Elias, notebook finally in hand, blinked as he was shepherded forward by Johannes, catching Cyrus' sign. He scampered up to Cyrus, hand on the elder boy's backpack. Elias was not a fan of crossing streets. Especially not busy ones.
The tower was more impressive up close for sure. He uncapped the glitter pen, almost dropping the notebook as he tried to flip open to the next page. Good plan. He showed this to the rest of the group.
