Quidditch Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff - Winter 2024

The snowflakes looked so calm -- so tranquil. They fell almost rhythmically, flake after flake, onto the slightly snow-sprinkled ground. Her heart, however... it beat unevenly against her chest, causing not just butterflies, but a whole plethora of insects to begin fluttering in her stomach. Their previous match wasn't the best, to say the least; perhaps that was what was making Ebony more tense than usual.
The cold wind hit her square on the face, blowing away the stray strands of hair that had come out of her ponytail. Oddly enough, she wasn't cold despite the falling white flakes -- even though she was nervous, Ebony was pumped to knock the badgers out of the skies. With a new rush of enthusiasm, she tightened her grip on her Silver Arrow and planted a rare smile on her face.

It was cold outside as snow powdered the ground of Hogwarts, however it shouldn't stop her from doing the best she could for the all Quidditch match with the Ravenclaw team. She was serious about playing and putting all she could into the game ahead. She stood with her team for the pre match pep game by Howard. This was bittersweet as it was almost going to the last she would see him in this locker room. She wished he didn't have to go as she could plaonly see the emotions from him. Her own eyes were misty. She wanted to give him a hug but restrain herself as she cheered to boost morale after his speech. Annie went ahead and agreed her own little speech and Roxette held up her Comet in approval. She had overhead Annie's conversation with Madison prior to the pep talks, bit hasn't engaged in the discussion as she felt a bit emotional over Howard's last year at Hogwarts. She couldn't imagine Quidditch without him next year as she stood by. She prayed it goes well for this match for them even as she tried to boost everyone's spirits. She waited to see if Avery had anything to add as their co-captian even as she looked around at the others on her team. She was proud to be on this journey with them. She was hoping to get together with her teammates for a surprise party for Howard, but now wasn't the time for that as she was solemn. After all the peps and the cheers, Roxette ventured onto her broom and took off into the air.

He loved the cold and there was an added level of excitement any time they would be playing with snow, rain or disruptive weather. It made things far more challenging, especially for him trying to spot the snitch. But that didn't dismiss the exciting aspect of battling against the weather and their friendly foes in Ravenclaw. Shaking out his body as he moved to take his position, he worked to ignore the resonant chill running through him. Once the game began and the adrenaline took its course, he knew he would barely feel it. But the waiting and anticipation offered him no immediate respite.

"Lets go my mighty flying badgers! Unleash your war cries! HOOOOWAAAAAHHHH!" Ethen obnoxiously bellowed to announce his presence. Even if he couldn't locate the snitch in the first few seconds, he hoped he would be able to cause a bit of distracting noise while avoiding the inevitable attempts to knock him from his broom. He was determined to survive the game.

The snow was a beautiful accent to the Quidditch pitch and stands. Atlas loved the soft tranquility the snow offered. Although she was quite hopeful that none of her teammates would be plummeting to disturb the snow. She was well aware that the games were increasingly aggressive and accompanied by trips to the hospital wing. But she always tried to enter the game with a more positive and excited outlook. She felt loose and ready for the game, despite the cold. She was calm and kept her breathing steady. It was easy to become to excited or embroiled in her competitiveness but focus was key.

From a short distance away, she heard a sudden abrupt noise that caused her to snort with amusement. "AWOOOOOLAA!" Atlas bellowed, joining the adorable warcry of her teammate and boyfriend. She would have felt bad if no one joined in on such a necessary tradition. "We got this Hufflepuff!" She added, cupping her hands in front of her mouth to let the cheer echo. While it was cold in the air, Atlas knew to put it out of her mind. They weren't playing in a full blizzard so she doubted she would notice the chill once the whistle sounded.

The humiliating defeat the Eagles had suffered during the first Quidditch match of the year had dampened some of Renelle’s initial enthusiasm for the sport, but she was still willing to have hope. Who knew, maybe second time was the charm. Walking out into the pitch and settling down at the benches by the sidelines as last time, she mused that besides, playing against the notoriously meek Hufflepuffs sounded like a far easier feat than the snakes, or that could just be a stereotype. Oh well. She supposed she would find out.

Taking up position at Howard's side for his traditional pre-game motivational speech, Avery levels a bright smile at her teammates in conjunction with the enthusiastic words of their captain. "Couldn't ask for a better team. Let's show them what we've got, guys!" she adds in as she follows suit, kicking off from the ground. The co-captain chuckles quietly at the charactaristic enthusiasm from Ethen as they take to the skies.

Ascending to their positions above the snow-covered pitch, Avery brushes a stray tuft of snow dusted hair from in front of her eyes and observes both teams taking up positions. When she met Tesla's gaze already trained on her, the 2nd year is quick to return the smile and give her fellow beater a thumbs up. Despite the outcome of the last game, they'd proved to be a solid duo regardless.

𝓑ex felt like she had learned a lot from her first Quidditch match back in October. For example, one should try to stay firmly on their broom whenever possible, preferably for the entire duration of the game. However, as their benched beater she more than likely wouldn't actually be called up to play today (though she'd said that the last time, too, and look how that had turned out) so hopefully her odds of unconsciousness today were low. Low, but never zero at Hogwarts.

Bundled up in two jumpers with her winter cloak layered over the top of them, she found herself a seat on the bench next to one of the chasers, an older girl with similarly curly hair. "Good morning." She greeted her. "Have you had breakfast yet?"

Game day! The long anticipated second match of the season was about to begin. Ravenclaw lost the first match, but you know what they say, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and you'll be taking a bludger to the face." Yes Jorah's spirits were high for this match particularly because the infamous, the indominable, the insane in the membrane half-giant @Quinn Healy would not be playing for Hufflepuff. Thank the maker! This moment deserves a haiku.

It would be nice if Ravenclaw was able to actually win a game, but Winnie would accept managing to stay on her broom until the end of the game. She was tired of falling and waking up in the hospital wing the next day. Not to mention she hadn’t been able to take her pent up aggression out on anyone in ages!

She grit her teeth as she flew onto the field, ready for a brutal game.
