The Journey Back
Seeing the other girl with brown skin and short curly hair named Mahlioz grinning and continuing to speak, Rita also showed a friendly smile to Mahlioz as the Second Year Hufflepuff listened. "Mahlioz does seem to be quite nice and friendly. I remembered that she seemed to be introverted and shy when we first met at the beginning of this journey, but she definitely has opened up a lot more at present. I believe she is definitely a great addition to my friends list, and I am lucky to spend the long journey to Hogwarts with a nice girl like Mahlioz!" The Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair thought.
"It`s OK, Mahlioz. I understand not everyone is like that kind of snobby pureblood wizards. I think most of the people in this school is actually quite nice and friendly, although I have to admit there are some very mean students here." Rita finally replied after thinking for a while, "Yeah, I think the activities in this school are pretty cool. The only challenge for me is how to balance activities and schoolwork, I think I am still struggling to balance them."
"Oh, you play the violin! That`s so cool! Maybe we can practice together in the rehearsal room sometime when we arrived at Hogwarts! That must be very interesting!" The Second Year Hufflepuff continued to speak, "The height thing is completely understandable. Quidditch is difficult, physically demanding and dangerous, so I understand it is not for everyone. For me, it is an exciting thing to do anyway. Oh, reading and writing, I do that from time to time, although I regard myself as more of an outdoor person. Oh, you have also started to learn archery! I honestly don`t think shooting arrows is really my cup of tea, but I think it must be interesting to learn for those who enjoy doing that. By the way, I know there is an archery club in our school that maybe you can join. Anyway, I think you are very nice, maybe we can become friends!" After Rita finished replying to Mahlioz, the Second Year Hufflepuff turned to the other girl with a bright smile, feeling lucky that she had spent the long journey back to Hogwarts chatting with such a nice girl like the girl sitting beside her.

"Thank you, Rita," she said happily. "There may be people at Hogwarts who aren't very nice, but there's always people like you who are kind and forgiving." She smiled. "Agreed, though. I wish time-turners were more common and less, well, restricted, because then time would be a lot easier to handle. There's always so much to do and so much more you just want to add on!"
Mahlioz's eyes lit up at the proposition. "That would be awesome! But do you really think I'd, well... she looked shy again. "I'm only at my third year of learning, I'm not really great. Are you sure you'd want to do that? You'd definitely be a lot more experienced than me..." Her expression went back to one of happiness, though, when Rita talked of hobbies once more. "Thank goodness! I honestly thought every wizard had to know how to play Quidditch. But I guess that's like saying every muggle has to know how to play football. Maybe it will get better over time. I'm glad you enjoy it though, it does look like fun! ...Yeah, I could definitely tell you were more of an outdoorsy person. Nature is nice, but, well... I have to say I'd rather stay inside and read!" She grinned, glad that despite their differences, they were still happy to be together. "Yeah, archery isn't always for everyone, but I find it pretty cool! There's a club? That's awesome, I'll have to check it out, thanks!"
And then Rita said something Mahlioz had not been expecting. F-friends?... She wasn't sure what to think, let alone to say. She had friends, of course, but it was rare. Then again, she'd been sitting in this compartment for nearly an hour, of course they would have the time to become friends. It still surprised Mahlioz, though. "I, er... yes!" she said enthusiastically. Perhaps a little too enthusiastically. She blushed, awaiting Rita's answer.

Rita turned to the other girl with curly black hair and milk-chocolate brown skin and showed a friendly smile when the other girl named Mahlioz said some kind words to the Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair and acknowledged that she was only in her third year of learning violin. "Mahlioz is truly an incredibly nice girl! She is honestly and not mean when it comes to praising people. More people should be like Mahlioz! I am so lucky to spend the long train journey back to school with her and I hope I will have more opportunities to spend time with her when we arrive at school and the new semester starts." The Second Year Hufflepuff thought with a delightful smile.
"Thank you for your kind words, you truly are an extremely nice girl too, I`m not lying! And you are totally right, I always feel like there is a lot of things I haven`t done and the time is so limited! I wish the days had been longer!" The Second Year Hufflepuff finally replied to the other girl, "As for the violin things, don`t worry about your skills not being excellent, and it`s totally fine! You know, I honestly haven`t practiced piano so much since attending Hogwarts, only like a few times, so I know I am definitely far from being brilliant on the piano bench! Practice makes perfect, you know? By the way, I understand that Quidditch is not really your thing, and you prefer indoor activities than outdoor ones, and it`s totally fine! I like meeting people with diverse personality, and I think diversity is what this world so interesting!"
"I would like to be your friend and I hope we will have more opportunities to chat casually like that when the school semester starts!" The Second Year Hufflepuff finished up her speech with a friendly smile and waited for the other girl named Mahlioz to reply.

"Aw, thank you," she said awkwardly, not used to being complimented like that. She found it peculiar, but a warm feeling seeped throughout her. "But yeah! I read a book once where there were 25 hours in a day and not 24, it was an interesting perspective. Maybe it helped them do more, be more productive? she pondered.
"Oh, thank you. I'm glad I'm not the only one who took advantage of not having nagging parents to remind you to practice! But we can get better together, can't we? As you said, practice does make perfect. Hey, have you heard of those muggle friends who call themselves TwoSet Violin?" She was veering off topic now, no longer really talking about magic but of the amazing (at least, to her) world of the muggle Internet. She hadn't had much experience with it, spending too much of her time with her nose stuck in a book. But the few times Reltyl had forced her to watch that thing called YouTube (she had no idea why it was called that - what a peculiar name), she'd seen a lot. And TwoSet Violin was one of those more interesting things.
But she needed to focus again. "Yeah! Thank you for understanding. Quidditch looks like a lot of fun for those who enjoy it, so I'm glad you do it! And yes, I agree so much about diversity. Having a world with so many different kinds of people is amazing, and there's so much to learn about everyone!" She grinned again, happy to have found someone who thought the same way about diversity. "I'm glad we're friends," she added. "You're an amazing friend and I'm excited to spend more time with you!" She rarely spoke her mind so openly, but she felt that Rita would understand. She was an awesome person, after all!

Rita listened with a friendly smile as Mahlioz continued to talk about several interesting things such as a book where there were 25 hours in a day, and the muggle youtuber TwoSet Violin. "Oh, Mahlioz always brings up interesting topics! It is really nice to chat with her and I believe we can make good friends in Hogwarts! I am so lucky to meet a new friend just at the beginning of this second half of the second year, and a nice one! Mahlioz and me should definitely meet in the future to do many interesting things, playing music together, read books together, attending balls and errands together, and so on! Maybe we can even cause some trouble together if Mahlioz agrees to do so!"
"Oh, that seems to be a fascinating book! Maybe you can lend me that book to let me pay a read if you don`t mind that!" The Second Year Hufflepuff finally replied with a bright smile, "Oh, you know TwoSet Violin? I`ve watched a few of their videos, and I think them mimicking other violin players and discussing other violin videos, especially those with genius violin children called Linglings is quite interesting! And they also always point out the importance of practicing!
"Yeah, it is always good to meet different types of people, and I feel lucky to meet you on this journey, we should definitely meet again and do some interesting things together in the future, you are such a great girl after all!" The Second Year Hufflepuff was glad that the other girl was also excited to meet up with her again. The journey back to Hogwarts was quite long, but having spent some valuable time with Mahlioz, the long journey really did not seem to be that song to Rita. Anyway, the Hufflepuff felt lucky about meeting such a wonderful person on the train.

"Of course!" she answered Rita with a smile. "I'm sure the library has it somewhere - that place seems like it has every book ever made. But I also brought it with me in my trunk, I'll lend it to you!" Mahlioz didn't know what kind of books her friend liked, but she seemed interested and perhaps she'd enjoy this one. Rita had smiled and it lit up the room like a warm fire. And upon learning that she also knew about TwoSet, the first-year beamed even more. "I know right? They're amazing! It's probably because of them that I'm still practicing. Not fourty hours a day yet, but we're getting there." She laughed. Goodness, was it nice to be able to share her passions with someone who thought similarly. It was a foreign feeling, but Mahlioz loved it. Try as she might, she couldn't wipe the grin off her face.
She glanced at the window as Rita kept talking. The landscape had drastically changed, going from London city business to beautiful Scottish countryside, and now, it seemed, fields and fields of greenery, shrubs and forests. "Aww, thank you," she responded with a blush to her new friend's compliments. "I agree, I can't wait to do things together with you at school! Even if I don't like flying, I'd love to watch you in a Quidditch match or something of the sort." A few hours had passed by now - Mahlioz wasn't sure just how many - and she felt they were approaching the school she'd left for the past two weeks. She would have to change into her robes soon. But not just yet. She didn't want to leave Rita's company, even if it was for the five or ten minutes it would take her to get changed in a nearby bathroom.

Rita was not sure how many hours had passed while they chatted enthusiastically about all kinds of interesting topics for so long, but the Second Year Hufflepuff knew she was definitely a long distance away from her little muggle family in London, and it was nearly time to leave the train and start a new semester at Hogwarts, which was the string semester of Rita`s Second Year in this magical school. The distance traveled on the train was definitely quite long, but with a nice, knowledgeable, and interesting girl like Mahlioz beside her to chat many different and all fascinating topics with, the time just passed like nothing. The black-haired Hufflepuff definitely felt fortunate about getting to know Mahlioz on the train, and she just could not wait to start new adventures with this new Slytherin girl. "Clearly, not all Slytherins are cunning and neckless although they usually have a reputation for being bad wizards and associated with dark magic, and there are definitely some nice people in Slytherin like this particular brown-skinned and curly-haired girl named Mahlioz. I am just so lucky to spend the long travel with someone like her." The Second Year Hufflepuff thought.
"Yeah, it would be great if you can lend me that book, or we can go to the library together to read them!" The Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair and a pair of yellow glasses finally replied, "And yeah, practicing is pretty crucial, not only with violin, but also with Quidditch, the spells we learned in classes, and so on. Basically everything that can be practiced."
A short while after Rita finished her existing speech, the Second Year Hufflepuff found out the train had stopped, and it was time to get down from the train and start a new life in Hogwarts. "And yeah, we can definitely do many interesting things together in Hogwarts. And it seems that the train had stopped and it was time to get down from the train and arrive at Hogwarts for the second semester. Do you wanna take your belongings and get down from the train with me? Maybe we can even have dinner together in the great hall later after we put our belongings in the dorm first! What do you think? Anyway, hope to see you around again in Hogwarts very soon!" After Rita finally finished her speech, the Second Year Hufflepuff showed a friendly smile to the other Slytherin girl, and began to pick up her things and prepare to get down from the train.

"Yeah, I definitely will!" she answered her friend. "I hope you'll enjoy it, I definitely did. And yeah, that's true! It's kind of funny, actually, because a lot of the time people just want to be good at something without having to practice at all. But it's literally the practice that makes you good at something."
Glancing at her watch and then out the window, she realized there would only be a few minutes until they got to the school. "Give me one second," she told Rita, getting up and taking her school robes before exiting the compartment to get changed in the nearest bathroom. She got back just in time as the train was coming to a halt.
"I would love that!" she replied to the second year as they both started packing up their things. She'd been a tiny bit worried that the other girl had only been talking to her to be nice but really wouldn't want anything to do with her later on, but her fears disappeared at Rita's words. "We are in different houses so our dorms are pretty far away from each other, but we can meet up in the Great Hall for dinner once we're done putting our stuff away." She beamed at the thought.
Mahlioz was done putting her things into her trunk and she got ready to leave the train. "You ready to go?" she asked Rita with a friendly grin before opening the compartment door and heading out.

It was a long journey indeed, from London to Hogwarts, the magical school in the Scottish Highlands, but meeting such a nice and interesting person like this black-haired and dark-skinned first year Slytherin girl named Mahlioz really made that long journey seemed short. The black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater definitely felt lucky about meeting up with Mahlioz and having such an intriguing talk, and she just could not wait to see that Slytherin girl around in Hogwarts again to do some other interesting things. "I just cannot wait to see what will happen when we meet again in Hogwarts! We definitely can do some other interesting things in Hogwarts!" Rita thought when the Second Year Hufflepuff beater was busy tidying up her belongings and prepare to get down from the train.
When Rita had finished tidying up her belongings, she happened to hear Mahlioz asking her to go down from the train, "Yeah, I have finished tidying up my belongings and I am ready to go! You are right about our dorms being quite far from each other, so catch you later and hope you see you around in Hogwarts soon!" The Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater then took her belongings, went down the train, waved goodbye to the other Slytherin girl Mahlioz, and then went straight to her dorm to prepare for another brand-new semester in Hogwarts. Hopefully, it would be a colorful semester, and meeting such a interesting girl in the journey back to Hogwarts was definitely a good sign for the whole semester. She just wished this new semester would be great.
