Summer Duelling Funtime Extravaganza, Match: 1
roleplaying as iNPC Amaury Favreau
It had been quite some time since Amaury had faced off against those haughty Hogwarts students, and never before had he been given the chance to defeat them in a proper duel. But their strange and unusual Chess Combat matches, the ones where just last summer Amaury's team had suffered a humiliating defeat at the very last moment, seemed to be a thing of the past. And although the students he so longed to get revenge upon, the ones dressed in green, were not present, he supposed the blue and red teams standing across from him and his teammates would have to do. Knock out one Hogwarts student, you knock out them all. The scrawny Scottish students stood no chance against the combined forces of some of the best duellists across the globe. This would be a breeze.

Vague Duelling McGee was absolutely flabberghasted at the first round. If the 2v2v2 was hard to keep track of, this was even more so. Especially as fog began to roll in and coat half the battlefield. Let's break it down by group, shall we?
The guests were maybe the ones to watch out for, as they were the only ones that were a mystery relative to their duelling abilities. They came out with a fierce entrance, all three attempting to hit two targets with a single spell. Amaury went for a classic Wind Jinx, but the spell didn't stay on target or split. So Alan and Lamik were left unscathed. Meenauh had the foresight of knowing she was going to be a target and casted the shield charm which came in handy. Hadashi tried to set the duellists ablaze. Meenauh's shield ricocheted the spell towards her teammate Lamik, who was luckily able to avoid the blaze. What was once aimed for Delilah flew off course towards Thomas who easily drifted past the flame. Greta had the same idea as Hadashi, targeting Meenauh and Delilah. Once again the spell aimed for the apparently terrifying Gryffindor flew back towards her teammate. Poor Lamik. However, he was able to dodge once more. A limber boy. The spell aimed towards Delilah split, heading towards Aida as well. Both were hit hard, leaving them recovering their balance.
Onto the Pride of Pendrast, Lamik used his ability to spell spread to coat the battlefield in a thick fog. Covering himself, Amaury, Delilah, and Hadashi. The only reason for hiding oneself was the knowledge that he could probably see through it clearly. But the others would have a harder time locating their opponents, all of them would be harder to hit. Meenauh was standing strong with her shield that knocked back spells like it was Captain America's shield. But, they were in London. So- moving on. Alan attempted to blind Delilah even more, but she was able to dodge the black silk that threatened to shield her from the storm of spells that would inevitably head her way.
Delilah seemed to be on a wavelength with Lamik despite being on different teams. Not only did she target Amaury, she encased one of her teammates with the fog as well. Essentially making her disappear to the rest of the chaos group. Amaury was already blinded, and could not be blinded further with more fog. Thomas and Aida had their eyes jet set on one Meenauh. However, the un-splitting wind jinx and vicious knockback jinx would dissolve as soon as they made contact with her shield. What an amazing spell.
This was only the first round and there were eleven more rounds of brilliance ahead of them. Hopefully all the duellists would be able to keep up.

Alan had never before witnessed such a scary and chaotic first round of a duel. With that Alan sighed a shaky breath of relief when he realized that his team had gotten away mostly unscathed. Meenauh had done an excellent job at protecting herself! Not that he had doubted it, but it was a relief to see nonetheless. Lamik had covered the field in heavy fog, obscuring Alan's vision needlessly, making the Gryffindor hope that this wouldn't have a huge impact on him. But it looked like Ravenclaw had taken a few hits, with that it meant they were the most weakened team at the moment.

───•─•────────────────────────────────────•─•───

───•─•────────────────────────────────────•─•───Chaos descended swiftly upon the battlefield as soon as the announcement to start had been given. There was little time to corroborate with her own team, and less time to size up the others. She had little understanding of their tactics, and less on how to counter-act them. The best that Greta could hope for was a swift conclusion in whatever way instinct suggested.
It was a complicated game, one where the steps of the dance had to be taken carefully lest the balance shift too swiftly in one direction and earn the ire and coordinated efforts of two teams working in tandem against one. This was the case for any of the teams, of course, and the safest path would be to split one's attention between the two. To deliver approximately equivalent blows that were not so devastating as to identify oneself as an ultimate thread that need be taken down early in order to level the playing field.
To that respect, she had identified a pair of students who had appeared, to her at least, somewhat younger than their counterparts. Aligning herself, Greta had taken her wand, feeling more confident in its grip than ever she had with her previous one. The larch wood almost seemed to vibrate to her touch, although that could very well have been a slight tremor of her own nerves. A swiftly incanted, "Ventus!", had been commanded, free hand flourishing forward, fingers splaying, in order to give a visual representative that would help her concentration to split the spell. And split it would. A rush of air rushing towards each of her two targets, although the first would erect a shield to reflect the attack to a member of the team.
It was difficult to keep track of everything. All the more difficult as the fog started rolling in, swiftly engulfing each of her own teammates within its thick tendrils. She was suddenly left alone. Despite knowing they were there only a few feel away and being able to hear their shuffles and incantations, it left her isolated, framed against a barren background. Fingers tightened around the handle of her wand. If she was going to be next, she wasn't going down without a fight. And now she had identified the threats in need of culling.

Caring nothing for the fog, Aida noticed the stunning example of a valkyrie, Greta Fransson, dramatically battling under a curtain of braids and a face of war paint. Smiling at the memory of when Aida had donned a similar make-up scheme when dressed as Ares, god of war, for a masquerade, the wix couldn’t help but admire the dashing Durmstrang student. Even if they were on other teams, Aida couldn’t deny the incredible cool factor Greta brought to the field.

Eagle eyes scanning the battlefield, Tom's confident expression eroded as he watched Meenauh nullify his spell at a moment's notice; the same could be said of Aida's. How rude! The stage was a breathing hazard, with all of the fog, and he could hardly see a thing. Well, at least he managed to avoid the singular spell coming his way, though his teammates did not find themselves so lucky.
"These duels all turn into mass weather events these days, it's getting old," he called out, plainly ignoring the fact that his team was guilty of the same wind and fog as everyone else. Tom's smile was still on his face, cocky and admittedly meanspirited. He wanted people to target him more than his Ravenclaw contemporaries, it was easier to depend on his own athleticism than to hope that his friends would be good. "Eyes're on us, watch out," he offered as a warning to his teammates, inaudible to his opponents.Action: As strategized!

What a mess. Lamik truly had no idea what was going on, and quite frankly he wasn't sure if he wanted to try figuring it out. Things seemed to have gone decently well for his side during the first round, but honestly he wouldn't argue if someone told him that they were about to lose. How were any of the other duelists keeping up?

She thought inside herself that she could have probably been a seer when the first thing to pop up in her mind was to raise a shield. The strength of the shield seemed to reflect the first spells sent her way, unfortunately some towards her teammate (actually that was the only one she caught), and others to dissipate. If she'd cast something different, she'd most probably find herself in the hospital tent the next time she'd blink.
Her initial idea to practice retrospective thinking (like when first try to remember and name everything you see and only after understanding what it was) shattered like the spells against her shield. It was practically impossible to remember and analyse the number of events that were happening at the same time on this battlefield. One thing she knew very well — there were many more spells sent from the guests' side than there were people, meaning that most or all of them mastered the splitting technique, which was an unpleasant surprise as in Hogwarts it was still a rare skill.
She gulped as her shield rendered her unprotected once again and made another breath to rehabilitate before what was about to come next. She prayed to Merlin for it to come not her way.

Interacting directly with: /center]And the chaos had officially begun, just as expected. And Delilah got hit pretty hard, first from a wind jinx sent over by one of the folks from the other schools. Then a fog charm, but just in time Delilah dodged the blindfolding spell that was sent flying in her direction. She didn't think she would be on her toes already but she was, she definitely knew that it was a lot harder to see than it was 30 seconds previously.
