Now this was exciting. Truth or dare, a game with a simple concept, but could easily lend itself to giggles or grief. June stepped aboard the ship, observing the faces around her. Although she recognized some, she didn't know anyone except for her tent-mate Nicholas McCowan. June found herself orbiting him, drawn to the one familiar presence. Ironically enough, she felt a bit marooned.

Maybe it was a bit boring to choose "truth" as your first option, but June had to test the waters, so to speak (all of the pirate theming had clearly gotten to her head). Observe just how far others were willing to go before subjecting herself to a dare.

The canon fired, launching a piece of parchment into June's hand. She peeled it open, surprised to find the only name she could recognize written on it. Nicholas McCowan. Dare. Hm. June had not considered the fact that she might be a part of the first people giving out dares. June stared at the paper for a moment while others bustled around, finding their victims assigned person.

June liked Nicholas well enough, so she didn't want to completely embarrass him. Then again, she didn't want to seem like a complete scumsucker and give him a dare that wasn't entertaining enough. She tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear, when inspiration struck. June rushed over to the trunks of costumes. Surely there was something in here that would suffice, yes? June poked around until she found a large hat with a purple ribbon around it, which June carefully removed. Finally content with her task, she walked up to the dark-haired Gryffindor.

"Fancy seeing you here, Nicholas! I'm here to deliver your dare, so.. Here it is." June cleared her throat, taking an extra hair tie out from her pocket (one can never be too prepared). "I dare you to put your hair up in a ponytail, and then let me tie this ribbon around it. And you have to wear it like that for at least the next two rounds." She smiled, a little embarrassed to be asking her senior to do something so silly, but that was the name of the game. She extended the hair tie and ribbon for Nic to take if he accepted. "And the bow has to be a good one, okay? I'm happy to tie it for you, if you'd like."

A longboat journey to a moored ship was not what Nicholas was expecting when he signed up for truth or dare. Nor would he believe anyone else who claimed that they had seen it coming, after all, who could predict such production value? He’d expected there to be perhaps a circle or two of children, giggling and daring one another to reveal their deepest and darkest truths as to who they had a crush on. This was well and truly beyond the pale.

Nicholas climbed aboard the ship, swiftly shedding himself of his shoes and jacket, leaving him free to roam around its wooden surface. Only for his exploration to be cut short by the beginning of the game. In due course, the cannon, yes a cannon, had shot a piece of paper into his hand. A name he didn’t recognise written upon it. Edward Smith, an American then, maybe Canadian. But he had written his name in Cyrllic as well. How odd. Was he trying to assist the students from Koldovstoretz?

But before he could locate his target, he was set upon by the tiny near-second year with whom he shared a tent. He’d not properly engaged much with her, although she was certainly easier to get along with than some of the other girls in the tent. Neon yellow and confused names bit at him like bitter memories.

Her dare, on the other hand, was hardly offensive. Sure, he would look rather ridiculous wearing a hair-tie and bow. But he’d tied his hair up or worn a headband for the purposes of racing or exercise before, what was adding a bit of flair?

“Tie away, Selwyn,” He sighed, not bothering to argue the point.

Once she had tied the hair tie, as elaborate as she wished, he would set off to finding his target. In due course he would hunt him down, speaking to Alec Mason no less.

“Hey, Yankee!” Nicholas called, getting the attention of the blonde, before jerking his thumb at the gangplank, “I dare you to jump off”

Alec had handed out a dare, and soon knew he would be on the receiving end of a dare. He was pumped. Ready for something exciting, something dangerous, a dare that was going to make Alec seem crazy for accepting it. Alec knew the dare he'd given out didn't have to be that uncommon, maybe he could be given his own dare? He was clumsy so he wasn't sure it was the best idea but it would have been fun to attempt. He needed to have a dare that would do his pirate getup justice. For all he cared he could be dared to walk the plank, it wasn't as epic as all of his own awesome dares but he would have totally done it if the situation called for it.

The problem was, Alec had forgotten one simple thing. Those were the dares he came up with, the insane one his mind created, he wasn't another person and he couldn't give himself his own dares. Thus there was a hint of disappointment and skepticism when Alec received his dare.

“Alec, I dare you to get a kiss from me, just on your cheek.”

Alec's eyebrows furrowed and he squinted as he stared at the kid in front of him. “Your dare was for me to receive a kiss on the cheek?” He repeated to make sure he was hearing this right. Surprise was clearly visible on his face and Alec could be read like an open book. He folded his eyes across his chest eyeing the other skeptically “Was this the best dare you could have come up with?” Alec's lips split into a frown, “well it isn't very exciting, or interesting, it's not even dangerous.” Alec muttered, shoes scuffing the floor of the ship. A huff escaped from Alec's lips. He couldn't tell whether he needed to be offended his dare was being used to get the loner some action, or if he should have been flattered by it.

Either way, Alec would go through with the dare, it was simple, easy to complete, whatever. He would be kissed on the cheek and like that his dare was complete. Alec however wasn't done. He was feeling wronged in this situation, having been given a dare when he hadn't even gotten to do anything! “Hey, wait up-” Alec would say, to make sure the other didn't walk off even if the dare was complete. Alec would attempt to go in for a real kiss and kiss the stranger on the lips(feel free to auto-dodge). After such whether he'd been able to kiss the stranger or not, Alec stared the other down, “mate, if you're going to make getting kissed a dare, at least do it right and make it on the lips.” It was the last thing Alec would say before he rolled his eyes, still finding the whole situation unbelievable and walked away. Hopefully next time he'd be receiving a more daring dare.

Edward gasped, did Alec really rethink such a dare? Well well- guess who was- oh crap. Edward may never win a damn game, ever again shall he? Might as well go out with a really good bang, and so he leaned forward and kissed Alec back, on the lips, hugging him at the same time. God, he sure hoped his girlfriend wasn't around. He kissed with tongue (consent given by Alec) and if Alec had gotten a proper kiss before, he would've known that Edward never kissed anyone before, not even his own girlfriend.

He also heard the possibly unintentional insult from Nicholas and gulped but to hopefully earn him some respect with his Koldov peers, he had to say what he did. "Damn it! Hair Tye boy! Who are you calling Yankee?" He tried his hardest to show his imitation face, but obviously it wasn't apparent, as he ended up limping his arms, in regret of what he's about to do.

He had to face his fear of heights, which was funny since he was on the Quidditch team for Koldov. He turned around, and on his jump down, he screamed as loud as he could, making a thick russian accent. "YOUR TROUSERS DON'T FIT THE THEME! YOU AIN'T TERRIFYING!" Once he landed in the water, he was soaked, and trembling, as his thoughts returned, he made a damn awful attempt at insulting the boy with the bow. Maybe it was the fear of heights, and that he needed to yell something to distract his brain. Well, if that was the case, it worked.

As per usual, Aly Salinger was not the first one on her ship. In fact, she was honestly one of the last, if not the latest person, and she arrived to a rather interesting scene of folks jumping screaming off the side of the boat, people going in for kisses, ribbons being tied into hair, and lots and lots and lots of talking. After doing a quick glance of the setting so that the soon-to-be-fourth-year would know where everything was, Aly's green gaze settled on the only person she knew - George, a first-year - or, she supposed, second-year, now - Slytherin with whom she'd played a friendly match of unofficial Quidditch just a few months before. Waving to George with a friendly smile, Aly walked over to take a seat in the circle, and she had just barely settled in atop a cushion when bam! The miniature cannon in the centre of the circle decided it was high time to shoot a small piece of parchment at her, which oddly, whizzed toward her like a projectile instead of fluttering and flittering about like fallen parchment normally did.

Aly's Keeper reflexes kicked in, and she snatched the paper from midair. Just as she was about to unfold it, though, a younger boy she'd never seen before trained his eyes on her and asked her own question. She had signed up for Truth upon signing up for this Truth or Dare business, but she had never actually played the game before; all she knew is that she would be expected to answer truthfully, and so upon being asked if she had ever intentionally embarrassed someone in public before, it didn't even occur to her to say anything other than what was clearly true. "Of course not!" she gasped, almost a little indignantly. "Not intentionally, of course. I mean, I've scored in Quidditch some before. I'm sure the teams didn't like that. Does that count?"

Satisfied with her truth, a rush of gratitude washed over Aly; she was relieved that the younger boy - whose name she still did not know - hadn't asked her anything truly embarrassing, as she'd heard Truths of Truth or Dare tended to be. Maybe I should avoid truths, just in case someone asks something I don't want to say...

Trying not to think about having to spill her deepest, darkest secrets in a ship full of strangers, Aly went back to unfolding the piece of paper in her lap with steady, slim fingers. The name Carolyn Plant was inscribed neatly within, along with an order of asking a Truth question, and Aly looked up around the circle. An idea of just what to ask this girl Aly had never met was already beginning to form inside her head, but as she glanced about, Aly realised that she had no idea how to find Carolyn, other than to yell out her name. There were at least five other girls in the group, and getting up to ask each of them their name individually would be too time-consuming, so Aly simply shouted: "Carolyn Plant? Which one of you is Carolyn? ...anyone?"

being dared, giving a truth,
picking dare for next round

Truth Or Dare. It was a classic summer camp game, and one of the few which Cassie had signed up for this summer. She wished she'd checked out more, but honestly, she'd just... forgotten. Lost track of time, in the rush of everything else which was going on. (Mainly the broom racing. Cassie needed to be on the top of her game, so most of her spare time in the lead-up to the event was spent training.) Truth Or Dare, though, had been a no-brainer, so she'd made sure to put her name down, along with her choice - dare, obviously - practically the moment she'd gotten to dinner on the first day.

When she arrived at the venue, it took a moment for Cassie to work out what was going on. There were... ships? Giant ships? Not real ones, of course, but pretty realistic ones. The Beauxbatons girl laughed aloud as she boarded the one her group had been designated and entered her slip of paper into the cannon. To top it all off, she quickly discovered a collection of chests containing pretty much every pirate-esque accessory or item of clothing that you could possibly imagine. After spending a minute or so rooting through in search of the best pickings, Cassie withdrew to a quiet corner (the repurposed Captain's quarters, not that she could actually identify any part of a ship except the mast) and changed into her new outfit for the day. I am loving the theme this year, she decided as she admired herself in the just-about-reflective surface of one of the portholes.

Suddenly, Cassie heard a cannon fire and sprinted back up to the top deck, just in time for it to spew a slip of paper into her chest. Finnegan Conner, it said. Truth. Ugh. Cassie way preferred dares to truths. Truths were fun and all, but dares had more action. Before she had time to think properly, though, a girl approached her. "Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin, actually," Cassie corrected (not unkindly). "Two first names. But you can call me Cassie anyway." When the girl shrieked her dare, Cassie lit up. "YES! That is an excellent dare," she grinned, and ran over to the plank jutting out from the side of the ship. Arms out in an attempt to steady herself, she walked the plank, wobbling from side to side, but just about made it back onto the ship. "Do I pass?"

Then she found the person on her own sheet of paper. "Hey! Finnegan! What's the most obscure bit of information you know?"

MODERATION POST—Round II
No surprise that Noah Jupe would find his way to a game of truth or dare. The boy practically attracted chaos. He would receive Aly Salinger as his target, presenting her with the question of whether she had ever intentionally embarrassed someone in public.

Zykeal Lane, on the other hand, was an enigma who presented an exterior expression of perpetual boredom and general adversity to silly games, yet always seemed to find himself involved in them. Coincidence? I think not. Nevertheless, he would receive Marinal Oriel as a target, challenging her to walk the plank; and threatening her with forceful overboarding should she refuse.

Edward Smith was a troublesome little gremlin with an obviously misplaced (because it's not like this moderator is biased at all) grudge against Durmstrang. Alec Mason would be his first victim. In an irony that would not present itself ICly until weeks later at the spin the bottle games, Edward would dare Alec to accept a kiss on the cheek from him. The Gryffindor would accept, but turn it around, attempting to steal a real on-the-lips kiss as the foreigner was walking away. Apparently someone turned up the heat in this impromptu moment as saliva and tongue were exchanged in an unexpectedly public display of strange affection. (Was this really the boy who would be making threats of murder to anyone who tried to kiss him in spin the bottle??)

Erin Ryan would pretend to be a cool adult while actually squeeing in her inner child at the awesomeness of the setting. I mean, who wouldn't. Taking an eyepatch to complete her "I'm still cool, but participating" understated look, she would receive the name of one George Rees. Too bad he would apparently run in terror. And who could blame him, really? First off, it was Ryan. Second, it was a pretty embarassing (but entertaining) dare. Perhaps she would just have to recycle the challenge and find someone more worthy of the task.

Finnegan Conner was another to marvel at the faux ship and vastity of the setting. A bit out of place, perhaps, amidst a collection of students quite a bit more his senior, the boy would be sure to experience quite the event. Foreigner Lucinia Thawin would be his target. And he would start off with something so delicately positive that it would defy his devious nature: what was the best thing she had ever done for someone else?

This group was really turning out to be the exact sort that any event planner could hope to have. Alec Mason was another who was just living for the set and general theme of camp. A good deal of effort was spent equipping himself from the chests for the occasion, donning himself with full out pirate extravaganza. Cielle Johansen would be his target, and he wouldn't be the only one to call her Cece. Apparently he would try to get a jump on the Hexwizard competition, though, being a bro for Hogwarts by trying to murder the poor girl with his absolutely fantastic horrible puns, and then send her on a hail mary task involving climbing, tight-rope walking, and complex motions. If only he knew it was exactly the sort of circus act the girl was made for.

Lucinia Thawin had been amazed by the entire approach. Operation: mind blown, a clear success. Some time was spent familiarizing herself with the ship and searching through props before getting ready for the canon. Cassie McGregor-Martin would be given a simple, but reasonable dare to walk the plank. Which she would do, apparently under the impression that just walking on the plank was sufficient. The question would be whether Lucinia would be satisfied with that or if she'd want the girl to finish the dare and walk the plank in its usually intended meaning to walk OFF the plank.

Before deciding whether or not to accomplish Zykeal's dare, Marina Oriel would administer a unique challenge of the more intellectual sort to Noah Jupe. First, to describe the sky without using the words "blue, white, or cloud", and then to describe the ocean without using the words used to describe the sky. Some careful thought would certainly have to be put into that one. And to his credit, he did a remarkable job, taking a scientific approach to the first, and holding to a piratey theme for the latter.

June Selwyn would recognize Eyebatch Pwnies (who came up with this anyway) tent-mate, Nicholas McCowan as really the only familiar face of the bunch. Coincidentally, she would also catch his name to deliver a dare. A very girly dare involving hair and ribbons to prettily tie up McCowan's lusciously flowing locks. Finding her dare "hardly offensive", he was more than accommodating.

Only once his hair was on fleek would McCowan set off in search of mistaken-for-a-yankee-doodle Edward Smith. Going with the flow, seemingly, he would dare the boy to jump off the ship and into the harrowing totally-not-foam-floaty-shark-infested waters below. The boy would face his fears, and do just that, slinging an insult back at the gifter as he did.

Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin would attempt to escape her previous dare in order to track down Finnigan Conner. Unto him, she would ask a simple question: What's the most obscure bit of information you know?

And finally, Aly Salinger, feeling relatively out of place amidst the sea of mostly unfamiliar faces. She would receive the directive to give a Carolyn Plant a truth. But there would be no answer to her call.

In fact, quite a few people would prove to be absent, or just have a change of heart at some point in their journey to or arrival on the ship.

@Carolyn Plant, @Milosh Rehnquist, @George Rees, and @Cielle Johansen did not post and will be removed from the game. They are welcome to post exit RP posts.

Unfortunately this meant that a number of students had been left stranded, without dares. Bang. Bang. Bang. Three times the canon would fire, sending a fresh assault of canonball crumpled papers into the crowd at tartgeted individuals.

Zykeal Lane would receive a Dare that stated, "Belt out a song of your choice at the top of your lungs."

June Selwyn would receive a Truth that stated, "What was the best day you ever had? Answer out loud so everyone can hear."

Erin Ryan would receive a Dare that stated, "Build a tower taller than you out of anything that you can."

Truth or Dare — Group FOUR  Summer Camp '22
August 14th – during the day

George sat in the boat without particular enthusiasm. He had signed up for this stupid game just to break a couple of noses and throw people overboard in a completely legal way, however his expectations had been greatly frustrated. The challenges so far were pathetic, pitiful, lame, and deeply boring. Apparently, the objective was more to ridicule the crew than to cause an accidental death. What a disappointment.
A few seconds before he had sat down, one of the name papers had landed in his lap. George unfolded it and read the name on it; Zykeal Lane. Okay, he was at least able to make a great dare to someone, that culd be fun. He was about to yell it out loud to search for his victim when he noticed that he didn't even know how to pronounce it. He looked around, searching, though he didn't know exactly what he expected to find. Glancing over the deck he saw Salinger, the Ravenclaw girl he had played an unofficial Quidditch match with some time ago. She greeted him, and George gave her a small nod in response.
He soon found the girl who was supposed to challenge him. Well, more like she found him. She was certainly pretty, and her charming aura made him suspicious that she was part-veela. It wasn't like he was going to ask her anyway, especially considering that she was noticeably older than George, so he decided to just keep his stoic expression. That, of course, until he heard the challenge.
"I dare you to switch outfits with any girl besides me. Stay in each others' outfit for the next two rounds," she said.
George raised his eyebrows helplessly, giving the girl a look of confusion and indignation. She had said that he could choose whoever he wanted, but didn't he also need the consent of the person he traded clothes with? Well, maybe he could ask Aly, but... Lord, no, it was ridiculous.
And to top it off it had to be a girl? He looked at the girls around him, nearly throwing up at the thought of what he would have to wear. He hadn't worn dresses since he was two years old, he wasn't going to start over now. His clothes were great. Wide-leg jeans, a Haileybury Hammers sweatshirt, a pair of sneakers, and a green hooded sweatshirt that he wasn't planning on handing out to any stranger. And he wasn't about to put on a pirate's outfit or any fancy clothes either. He was out. Soooo out.
"You're crazy. No damn way, I'm not doing it." he stated, shaking his head emphatically. "Na–ah. I'm out."
He had seen the mischievous look the blonde girl gave him, and not even if they threw him a confudus he was going to do anything to make her laugh at him. Bummer that he had to leave the game in the first round though, but he had standards.

Bros kiss the homies, right? Alec was trying to find a reason to explain away the unexplainable. He had not needed to go in for that kiss after he had fulfilled his dare, and yet Alec being Alec did so anyway. This was, a totally non-romantic, non-anything kiss, bros kiss their homies simple as that. However, Alec hadn't expected this homie to go as on that kiss as he did. What did Alec think of this homie's kissing abilities? Well... It wouldn't be hard to tell the stranger lacked experience, if Alec was being honest, the kiss wasn't half bad.
(Blame tatsu I rolled a 1d100 with a -20 and got a 77!)
---
Leaning over the side of the ship, Alec would feel the cool breeze of a summer's afternoon. Glancing out onto the water, taking in the ocean smell in the air. He would relax as he waited for the first part of the game to conclude, being ahead of others, he would need to wait a bit to receive someone to give a truth or dare too. It would give him something a little extra to do in the meantime, other would possibly have more to hand out.

It didn't take long before Alec found himself walking over to the cannon, once again the cannon would receive a slip from Alec and from anybody else who may have been participating in the game. With a mischievous grin Alec would read off the next assignment he had received from the cannon. Finnegan Conner, dare. The person was another unknown, it was clear Alec was going to meet many new people today

As soon as Alec spotted his victim target he waved and walked over. Hollering, “hey mate! I presume you're Finn?” Once Alec was close enough he would extend his hand out to Finnegan for a firm yet overly friendly handshake. “Call me Alec,” his hand would begin to search, he would fumble under the pressure of trying to be hasty as he checked through his pockets, looking for the slip that contained his truth or dare assignment. When he finally found the piece of parchment it was crumbled to the point where it became hard to read. Alec did read best to smooth the slip out before presenting it to the other boy. It was to be proof without words, to show he had arrived there in order to give Finnegan his dare. “I have a story for you,” spoke Alec in an ominous voice.

Alec would set the scene of what he was about to say with terribly done rain and thunder sound effects from his mouth. “It was a dark and stormy night the captain and his last crewmate were above deck drawing lots. They had a shark related problem. Out in the ocean was a dangerous shark, attacking the ship and pulling crew members in the water.one-by-one. The shark's name was, 'the fluffiest pygmy puff'. They needed to defeat the shark before there was nobody left. The captain drew the shortest lot but before he could go out and take on the shark, it pulled him into the water. You were the last crewmate and want to avenge your lost captain and crewmembers.” The story would come to a dramatic end as Alec loudly clasped his hands together. Alec would make a wait here motion before throwing off his pirate coat and captain's hat. Walking towards the plank Alec neared the edged and dove off. He would swim to grab one of the shark floaties. Bringing a shark with him as he climbed up the ladder and back onto the ship.

“Pop and vanquish the beast to avenge them. After such find a way to wear it for the rest of the game. Wearing it will be a victory token for what you have accomplished.” Sopping wet and absolutely drenched Alec proudly dropped the shark floaty in front of Finnegan. The beast which had done so much harm and damage was to be easily rid of on the deck. Was the likely destruction of somebody's property? Most certainly. Did Alec put any thought into it when creating the dare? Not even one.

A smirk from Edward as he pulled away from Alec. He thought he kissed rather well for his first time. Great. Alec left him. And just in time anyways, he felt something bad was in that letter that Clair gave him, but it was just a hunch.

Ooo wait, he got Alec again... should he dare another kiss? Should he make it a trivial challenge? Oh what would Eddy's life be without a bit of a mess? Or as he preferred since he got STRUCK DOWN BY THE DAMN FULL BODY BIND CURSE weeks prior in Twirl the Flargon, he would make Alec uncomfortable no matter what. How about... Edward took off his shoes and socks, and stuck his hands out.

"I dare you to wear these socks as gloves for the next ten minutes." Edward said, smirking. He didn't mention how old the socks were and how they were never washed. They were originally fresh white socks, turned grey over time. He just wanted to make Alec uncomfortable, he didn't care to harm anyone or to fully embarrass him. "Oh, tell me though, how was the kiss?" He smirked. Edward really needed to demonstrate that he knew what he was doing. Otherwise he'd be made fun of. That was his belief. He was already humiliated several weeks prior.
Action: Daring Alec to wear Eddy's socks on his hand like a glove.
