By all accounts, Wyatt was taking his recent two losses quite well. On the inside, however, it was a different story. Wyatt wanted a win more than anything, and he hoped Ravenclaw was a team of stereotypical nerds that would make it easier to get. He looked to his teammates and readied himself for the race, feeling oddly confident considering the change of scenery.

MODERATION ROUND 1

The race began, and children adorned in cerulean and viridian took the skies, their type being the flying sort. There was glory to be had, house points and bragging rights up for grabs, and all before a gaggle of international witches and wizards. May the racers from Slytherin and Ravenclaw be blessed with luck, for it was almost certain that they would need it.

At the very first unit of the race, it seemed that the delightfully devilish track designer had opted to place a bundimun. Not a particularly cute creature by any stretch, and its acidic bile was certainly the sort of thing that would cause a great deal of damage to those unfortunate enough to be spat upon.

About half of the racers noticed the creature, but even their sharp eyes could not cause them to dodge its secretions. For every racer found themselves covered in burning muck.

Fortunately, the next two sections of the track were rather clear, and the racers made their way onward with little issue. It was only as they continued along the track that the next obstacle would become clear, a tunnel to be tackled.

Midway through the passage, Colin McCoire would find himself falling somewhat behind the pack. Perhaps being the newest member of the team had caused a degree of trepidation? Who could say. All that was concrete was the remainder of the racers pushed forward and out of the tunnel.

As they raced ever onwards, some would find themselves pulling slightly ahead of the pack. It would seem that, when compared to the undoubtedly fashionable and powerful Silver Arrow, the old Nimbus 1700 had a lot to offer in terms of speed. Perhaps a lack of precious metals reduced the weight and drag of one’s craft. Who could say?

Colin tore along the course, but didn't notice the nasty bundimun until it was too late! He was flying just behind a fellow first year going into second. "Ouchy ouchy ouchy!" he could hear her saying.

His first thoughts were to wonder what got her and also, he had to admit, laugh at her discomfort. After all, she was a Rav --- and then it got Colin! "AAAARRRGGGHHHH!! It buuurrrrns!" Bundimun acid sprayed all over him as he passed through the foul obstacle! He tried to wipe it off, but it did no good. He felt bad that the other racer --- what was her name? Clair? --- got hit, but, no one ever said racing would be easy!

Holding the broomstick handle with as much strength as possible, Bloom was ready for the games to begin. She was nervous, as usual, but since she had done this twice before, she had a little bit more confidence than her other times. Taking a deep breath, she flew as fast as she could through each unit when they were allowed to go.

As she was flying, Bloom did not notice the Bundimun. Even worse, was that she could not avoid the Bundimun and began to feel pain from her clash with it. Bloom knew she had to ignore it to keep going. There was no way she was going to let a little foul strench get to her, even if the pain was ongoing.

Luckily, the next units were clear in comparison. Bloom flew and flew until she made it to the seventh unit. Bloom, feeling confident still, kept going.

----Vale's eagerness for pain had caused her to willfully fly through the Bundimun to feel its familiar, acidic touch. Surely nobody could blame her for that. It seems like everyone else wasn't doing so well anyway. She took a deep breath in her lungs, missing the hot pain that burned her body's skin with rapid success. Yes, Vale decided. This was what she joined for. Her diabolical crackling never ceased.

This. Was. Not. Good.

The bundimun right off the bat should've been the biggest red flag of off. Ari had a bad history considering the damage he had received from one previously, and the scars were still there. Now, he was feeling the acid burn through his hoodie once again. He'd need to go shopping once camp was over. Two acid burned hoodies wasn't something to flaunt.

And it kept getting worse from there. Trial after trial, Ari kept getting smacked and thrown around left and right. Today was not a good race day for him so far. This wasn't his usual setting. Maybe that was throwing him off. Either way, he'd need to buckle down and do better if he was going to carry his team to victory.

Hunter smiled and acknowledge his distant cousin Vale, curious as to what sort of mischief she would be up to. Even if they were bound by blood, that didn't mean Hunter was going to prioritize her over his own team. Enemies and friendships were bound to be made, and for now, Hunter knew he was gonna have to keep his eyes on everyone for a guaranteed win.

As they took off, the bundimum acid struck with a surprise and painful burn that Hunter wasn't expecting. His skin felt on fire, but no extinguishing charm was bound to stop the pain he thought, and so he pulled through and continued flying. His eyes darted around, taking note that it seemed those in front and around him hadn't dodged the bundimum either. The burning sensation grew and continued, but also slightly relaxed as the wind pushed against Hunter's skin as they flew. Hunter's breathing was controlled, and he felt he could handle the burns for a while longer, the issue was everyone else. A part of the young boy was focused on how others seemed very discomforted by the bundimum acid, but another part was taking into account who and where everyone was. 1...2...3...4... wait... where's the fifth snake? He couldn't turn his head behind himself, but he could assume one of the vipers was behind him. Even if Hunter was in the lead of the whole race, the thought of having a potential enemy behind his back was extremely nerve-racking.

Zooming off to a quick start all the racers came up against the Bundimum which offered no mercy, its burning muck almost covering them from head to toe. Percival gritted his teeth and growled, trying to keep strong as he made his way past the obstacle. The old Nimbus brooms seemed to be way faster than the trusty Silver Arrow, and soon enough a pack seemed to be moving ahead from the rest. He needed to keep this up, or else Slytherin would be ending the season winless. To him, that would be an embarrassment of the highest regard
