Castelobruxo NPC
Name: Agata Ríos Matos
Face Claim Scarlett Estevez

School: Castelobruxo
Year: Second
Status: Pureblood
Appearance:
If one were to look at Agata, they would simply call her tall. 162 cm to be accurate. It wasn't something she loved being pointed out, usually with her hunching or sitting down to minimise the effect. Agata's long brown hair is usually tied up in a bun or braids due to the long length, ease and comfort. She gained her mothers chocolate coloured eyes and olive skin, although her cheeky smile is very much her fathers, when you can get it out of her.
Personality:
Some might call Agata a mature child, and she was (she thought so anyway) but really it was just that she had a hard time letting people in. Whether it was because she grew up in a magical household and took the secret keeping a little too seriously, her parents often joking with tourists about Inca magic remaining around the city, or the fact she was the only child of seven to be still at home, one would never know. All they would be able to say is that it was hard to get close to the tall, lanky girl. Secretive and reclusive, she loves singing to her plants in her families garden instead of talking to people.
History:
Growing up in the ancient and bustling city of Cuzco, she always aware of constant change. Her parents plant shop constantly did so, the ebb and flow of the mountains bring life and change from the barrage of people filling the city.
Truly, Agata loved people, it wasn't that she was shy, just quiet. The constant flow of customers, locals and tourists alike to her families plant shop meant there was always someone there talking. It just wasn't her. She was mostly always content to listen. It was amazing how many people didn't stop and think, soak in the sun or stand in the rain. To many were busy with never-ending lives for that to be the case.
Having lived in the city all her life, Agata had never been truly alone. She'd had her six siblings to run amuck with, exploring the ancient walls and buildings that gave the city life. Some siblings, the three eldest, Julián, Sofía and Ariadna, had gone through Castlebruxo and made their paths out in the wide world. Due to the age gap, what with Julián being 27 and Agata 12, it had been hard to know the older trio, especially since she could remember the time of her first magic... The old Inca walls had shook and cried with her she stomped her six year old feet atop the ancient stone wall, rocks raining down upon her siblings in the most unnatural of directions, her magic making sure to punish them for teasing her. Her siblings had laughed up then not allowing her to play with the rest of them, seeing her as too young and silly to do so. Mama had said, later as they both sat brushing Agata's hair, that she was fierce and passionate and her magic was too. She should never forget that.
She was closer to her younger siblings, the twins María and Francisco, and Violeta, the sixth of their band of seven. These three were still at Castelobruxo, in their near final years of school. Agata had been excited to join them, relishing in the possibility that she would finally be able to do what the others were allowed to do, what she was capable of doing. She found that music, something her sisters Sofía and Violeta shared with her, and plants were her strongest subjects. She had decided, coming into this second year to focus more on herbology, something none of her siblings had chosen as a passion.

ReducioWhen Sherlock was a toddler, he enjoyed playing dressing up and imagining that he was a prince - not because he wanted he status, but rather because he wanted to look gloriously handsome; he thought that the more attractive one looked, the more friends they would get. However, things changed when he enrolled in school.
On his first day as a student, four-year-old Sherlock got interested in one small, cute little boy named Edwin and would very much like to befriend him. However, the boy was reluctant to interact with Sherlock and whenever he tried to speak to him, more often than not Edwin would turn his back on Sherlock and find someone else to talk with. Later, our boy would also try to befriend Ian, a bright-eyed student with a very charming smile. But Ian was also uninterested and would express his annoyance if Sherlock tried to strike a friendly conversation with him.
Worse than this, one day an adorable-looking classmate claimed he was pushed when the kids were standing in a queue. Ian and his desk-mate, a girl with a beguiling smile, told the teacher that the child was pushed by Sherlock, and soon the boy joined in because he was good friends with them. As Sherlock began to cry, feeling publicly humiliated, the three started calling him a cry-baby.
Enough was enough. Sherlock shot a look at the three and he no longer saw beauty or handsomeness; what might seem so at first glance was now smeared by their cruel actions, and the young wizard was no longer interested in trying to befriend someone because of their looks.
He proved this in the upcoming academic year, when came a new student to their class. Jacqueline had oily skin and crooked teeth, and she did look scary at first (at least for Sherlock); however, she was a very helpful child and before long, the two became friends. Sherlock even defended Jackie when a couple of their classmates called her a gorilla, even though he himself was slightly scared if they would call him names instead.
Jackie and Sherlock were classmates for only three semesters, before she had to change schools as her parents' job transferred them to another town, but she definitely was the person who truly opened Sherlock's eyes and introduced him to true beauty - the one that came from the heart.
Thank you, Jackie, Sherlock sometimes said inwardly as a preteen. Thank you for helping me understand what it really means by not judging a book by its cover.

♡ Second Year Ability ♡ Wand Maker ♡
ReducioWand Core: Unicorn Tail Hair (WC: 119/50)
Sherlock was a very loyal individual. Once he considered someone a friend, he would make sure he did his very best for them. The same applied with family; not only to his sister and best friend, even to his parents whom he knew were not the best mum and dad in the world, he still tried to protect them from unhappiness. In addition to being loyal, the boy was also very moralistic, preferring to make decisions based on the emotional spectrum of right and wrong. As much as he wanted to be accepted by his peers, Sherlock always prioritises listening to his conscience and thus would never give up to peer pressure if it means betraying his conscience.
Wand Wood: Larch (WC: 98/50)
It was (almost) never easy to be different, and Sherlock only knew this too well. For many fellow preteens, he was a "freak"; for his close-minded parents a "weirdo" who needed to "start being like everyone else [his] age". After years of listening to these comments and being convinced that it was bad to be himself instead of just like most people, Sherlock was subconsciously sure that there was something wrong with him, with his character. To build his confidence, often the boy tried to please the people around him (particularly his parents) to finally earn their approval.
Flexibility: Springy (WC: 80/50)
Sherlock was a flexible person. While sometimes he might get startled when he encountered something unfamiliar, or someone who was quite unlike the other people he had known, he was willing to give the new a chance, to see if he liked them. That is to say, the young wizard was not without a stance. As young as he was, he always listened to his conscience and would refuse to step into the unknown if it meant betraying his conscience.
Wand Length: 26.46 cm (WC: 76/50)
There could be no doubt that Sherlock Dols was a calm individual with a pure heart. Not wishing to stand out, and at times felt an annoyance toward attention-seeking behaviour, the boy was quite happy with staying under the radar as long as he was treated nicely. It was on his humble mind to think that it was more important to produce a magic that worked effectively rather than a mediocre one with a better appearance.
The History (WC:547/200)
"You should have told us earlier you were going to be a school duellist, mijo. Abuelita will have prepared a special gift for you."
At the time Abuelita Dols said it, Sherlock did not take much notice. But the following week, she surprised him with an invitation. "Mrs Miralles has agreed to make time for our visit. She's very busy, so let's take this opportunity, shall we? I hope you'll have time tomorrow at eleven?"
Sherlock knew Mrs Miralles, albeit not very well. She was Abuelita Dols' friend and a wand maker, had been one even before she got married. Now a widow with grown children, the witch spent most of her time working; that is, when her kids and grandkids were not visiting. She owned her own wand shop but also took special orders from customers, and now Sherlock had no idea whether Abuelita Dols had ordered a personalised wand or merely would like to choose one from her friend's premade wands. Either way, he knew the two would sip tea and talked about their friends, and he would be stuck pretending to be interested in their conversation when he could be somewhere else enjoying his summer holiday.
Oh, how glad he little wizard was when the ladies decided they had had enough talk for the day and it was time for him to meet his new potential wands!
"Your granny told me that you're now a school duellist. She also kept me informed about your current wand. David!" Mrs Miralles's assistant, a bespectacled wizard in his early or mid-twenties, was there in an instant. "Please get the blue box from my desk and put it on this table."
Carefully, David took out a number of wands and lay them on the table. They all looked so fancy with handles that shaped like animals and magical creatures, and Sherlock realised that Abuelita Dols must have told Mrs Miralles that he loved nature. There was no design with cat, unicorn, or puffskein, though - but griffin, tiger, eagle, and wolf were there among some others.
"Goodness me!" exclaimed Abuelita Dols. "I didn't expect you to make that many possible wands for my grandson to choose."
"With wand, there are endless possibilities. The more one tries, the more accurate the result will be. Besides," the master wand maker replied, "anything for a very old friend of mine. That's all, though. Try them, Sherlock."
And so he did.
He knew nothing about the wood or core, for so far Mrs Miralles had not said a word about any of them. Randomly picking up one, Sherlock did not fail to notice that he started with the handle shaped like a dragon. Nothing happened, though, so he tried the lion-handled one, followed by the cobra-handled wand and a couple more.
It was not until he tried waving the one with the handle resembling a bear that he felt warmth rising to his fingers and saw sparks coming out of the end of the wand. Sherlock was in awe, Abuelita Dols looked absolutely delighted, and Mrs Miralles nodded in satisfaction. "Larch with unicorn hair tail core, 26.46 cm, pleasantly springy," she said. "Please write it down, David. And Sherlock, looks like this beauty will be your faithful companion for years to come."

Having eyes, but not seeing beauty; having ears, but not hearing music; having minds, but not perceiving truth; having hearts that are never moved and therefore never set on fire - these are the things to fear.

Name: Nuria Sutherland
School: Castelobruxo
Year: First
Status: Pureblood
Hometown: Consejo, Belize
Appearance:

Nuria has chocolate brown skin, and big brown doe eyes that gives her the appearance of perpetual excitement. To go along with it, her lips are typically curved in a puckish smile, not even entertaining a guise of innocence. If her face could tell a story, it would say, “Yup. It was me. I did it and what?”
Personality: Nuria likes to have fun. It’s really that simple. While she loves meeting new people and making friends (sometimes getting those friends into trouble alongside her,) she feels she’s more than capable of stirring up a ruckus on her own. She’s a spitfire who marches to the beat of her own drum. Her current saying, “What’s life without a few afternoons spent in detention?”
History: The Sutherland family may as well have mimicked the Weasley’s in its size with nine boys, one young girl and two parents to reel them in. The village they lived in was purely a magical community that was fairly small but close knit. Growing up near the beach, Nuria grew up spending much of her time near the water and wandering the jungle that served as a barrier between the magical community and the non-magical one. On one such occasion, when Nuria was six, she’d gotten separated from her mother and wandered the trees for nearly 45 minutes before coming face to face with a huge snake. Locked in its gaze, the only thing Nuria could think to do was scream at the top of her lungs. This made it easy for her mother to find her but by the time she’d gotten there, the supposed danger was gone.
Nuria blubbered on and on about how the snake had been one hundred feet long with teeth longer than the tallest palm in their yard. However, on further inspection, her mother realized this had been an over exaggeration. She’d spotted the culprit, puffed up like a helium filled balloon, floating under a canopy of leaves, and appearing as though it didn’t know how it got there. The funny thing was, Nuria hadn’t noticed what had happened at all and her mother decided not to tell her until they got back home. When her brothers learned that their sister’s first instance of magic had quite literally been a balloon animal, they swore to never let her live it down. Though whenever it comes up, she pays them in kind for their insults.
As her entire family had attended Castelobruxo and had been for generations, it only made sense that she’d go as well. Her tropical bird arrived with her letter, the same as it had for her brothers in previous years and the rest is… well, history.

ADVANCE CASTING WC : 435ReducioEver since Ronnie received his first wand before he attended Castelobruxo, he knew he can do wonders with the said wands. Everywhere Ronnie goes, his books are glued to his hands. Before he attends Castelo, he already read many books whether it is about practical or theoretical magic. Because of that, Ronnie knows spell-casting incantation and movement like it is the back of his hand.
Not many know, well except Ronnie's family, that he has a photographic memory. Because he has a photographic memory, it is what drives Ronnie to sign up and become a Duellist for Castelobruxo. When his peers asked how he always gets perfect grades in all his classes, Ronnie always said 'I just love to read, that's all'.
He never boasted about that particular gift because his hard work and dedication to his schoolwork will show in the end and never fails him up until now. For him, action speaks louder than words. One day after a long day of school, Ronnie was laying in his bed, and he absentmindedly use the Hair Color-Changing Charm.
A few minutes later, he use the Snowflake-Creating Spell. Though spell-casting seems like a breeze for the blue-greyish-eyed boy, Ronnie had difficulties performing the Slug-Vomiting Charm. Not only Ronnie could never stomach the said charm, he feels like spell-casting is all about healing or helping each other not to harm one individual.
When his peers are more prone to using magic to resolve a dispute, Ronnie chose to use his word rather than flinging some spells unless he has to. As those comic books say, 'With great power, come great responsibility', Ronnie never abuses his power of spell-casting.
Whereas many of his peers first failed in the first few times when casting some spells, Ronnie never had that problem when it comes down to spell-casting. Still, although Ronnie seems superior in his spell-casting, he always helps his friends whenever his friends needed his aid.
Although Castelobruxo was not so big on wandwork, during his fundamental education, Ronnie picks Muggles studies alongside Ritual Magic as one of his elective classes. For him, balancing modern spell-casting (with a wand) is as important as doing traditional ones.
As a kid that was born into a magical family and no less a pureblood one, Ronnie's father had instilled in him that a wand is essential for every wixes but Ronnie did not want to rely too much upon his wand just because he has magical abilities.
For him, spell-casting is not all about wands. But it is all about the ability and the confidence in how to do the spell-casting itself. EVASIVE MANEUVERS I WC : 787ReducioIt was a hot many years ago in Brazil. Usually, Summer in Brazil had a little breeze now and then but not that day. When all the youngsters love to go swimming or just stay indoors, that did not apply to 10 years old Ronnie.
From he was a little boy, the second youngest of the Ramírez clan was known as an active and happy kid. Ronnie did not mind getting himself dirty. He likes to play in the rain and if his father is generous to him, his father lets him roll around in dirt or mud.
And so, that particular day Ronnie feels like wants to break a sweat since he can not stand still and do nothing at his residence. Ronnie then grabbed a football ball the NFL football kind and run downstairs.
When his feet landed on the ground level of his home, his house seems empty. His father, mother, oldest sister, and youngest sister are nowhere to be found. Ronnie then saw his second older brother lounging on the sun lounger near the swimming pool that is located in his house.
Ronnie then stalked to where Venice lay about. "You blocking the sun, dude,"Venice said to Ronnie with eyes closed while soaking in the Summer heat. But Ronnie did not respond as he still stood in front of his brother. "What do you want, shrimp?"Venice inquired his brother.
"Come play with me,"Ronnie uttered with excitement. Venice looked at Ronnie with one eye open. "No,"The second oldest denied it plainly. "You no fun,"The 10 years old said. Even though his brother denied him blatantly, Ronnie still got a trick or two up his sleeve.
He then sit on the edge of the pool and started flicking Venice with water. "You will get me all wet, bro,"Venice started to complain. "I will stop if you play with me,"The dark brown-haired boy said to his brother. Venice looked at Ronnie and let out a sigh. "Fine,"The then 14 years old Venice complies with his brother's wish.
Ronnie clapped his hands excitedly and tossed the oval ball to his older brother. A few short treks later, both of them are standing in the front yard of their home. "Catch!,"Venice said then he threw the ball towards the blue-greyish-eyed boy. Without warning, Venice started running at full speed to where his brother stood.
When Ronnie caught the ball, his body also catches the ground. "Ow!"Ronnie let out a yelp of pain with how hard Venice came barrelling down on him and because of how hard his back collided with the ground. Venice then reached out his hand to help his brother get up.
"What was that all about?"The younger boy inquired. "It is what do you think it is,"Venice replied. "And it is necessary for you to crash into me like a freight train?"Ronnie enquired his brother. Venice nodded his head with a playful smile on his lips.
"You supposed to evaded it, dear brother,"Venice expressed. "And you supposed to tell me beforehand,"Ronnie banter. As a reply, Venice only shot Ronnie a playful smirk. "Want to go again or are you too chicken for that?,"Venice teased Ronnie. The smaller boy let out a growl and said they do it again.
And again they shall do. For the first few times, Venice successfully tackled Ronnie down to the ground hard. Ronnie could feel his back will have bruises here and there with how many times his back collided with the ground. "Come on, bro, evade!"Venice demanded.
Once Venice said that to Ronnie, like the first time, the older boy run at full speed. But this time Ronnie can read Venice's body language. So, when the distance between Venice and Ronnie got smaller, the young boy side-stepped to the right before Venice could tackle him this time.
They do it a few more times. Every time Venice threw the ball at Ronnie, he ran at full charge and Ronnie managed to evade his brother's attack. "Time out, time out!,"Venice panted, clearly out of breath. His sweat rolled down his back and his forehead. "Come on, one last play,"The 10 years old pleaded with his brother.
Venice shakes his head. "I'm done, Ve, and besides I can not take the heat anymore,"Venice replied as he swiped the sweat that rolled all over his face. Ronnie left out a huffed. "Fine,"Ronnie said. "Perhaps another day?"He asked his brother with enthusiasm.
Venice only nodded his head while he caught his much-needed breath. Once the Ramírez brother is done running around in their front yard, Venice runs towards the swimming pool. He wasted no time jumping into it to cool off his body while Ronnie was still in the front yard practicing some of his impressive maneuvers. EVASIVE MANEUVERS II WC : 546ReducioWho said Duelling not as brutal as Quidditch, well, they never watched a single matches in their life. When Castelobruxo looking for some students to fill up the roster for Duellist, Ronnie was tempted to sign up for it but at the time his not as confident as he is right now.
Castelobruxo was all about manual labor and rarely about wand-work but it did not stop Ronnie to sign up in the next year when he was already a second-year during his time studying at Castelo. Though he is inexperienced in the terms of Duelling, Ronnie could take the heat that his opponent throws in his way.
He had been flipendoed and incendoed before. It hurt like hell when the wind was knocked out of your body or you were burned. During his time as a Duellist, he and his partner lost and wins some matches. For him, failure is a chance to learn to be better for the next match.
The old saying said 'practice makes perfect' but for Ronnie, there were no such things since in this world nothing is perfect. And so for him 'practice makes better.' and that motto he carries anywhere he goes whether it is for school work-related or during Dulling matches or practice.
One day, Ronnie was practicing some spells for the upcoming matches. One of his teammates comes into the room. She asked what was Ronnie doing. Ronnie told the girl that he is practicing for the next match. The girl then volunteered to be his opponent. Just like in any other school, students are not allowed to sling spells at each other unless an older student or Professor supervised it.
After the girl finds an older year that was not too busy that day, the little Duelling practice commences. The practice goes swell until the girl throws a powerful Fire-Making Spell toward the dark-brown-haired boy. Ronnie yelped out as he did not see that coming.
Though it is a powerful spell, Ronnie managed to get out of the way. Ronnie looked at the wall that had been enchanted behind him and then at the girl that standing on the opposite side of the piste. "Holy!,"The boy uttered in surprise. "What was that?"He asked the girl. "Just some good old fire-making spell, dear Ramírez, "The girl replied.
"That was NOT just some good old Fire-Making Spell,"Ronnie uttered. He was impressed with the said spell. For a few minutes, the practice still rolled in. Every time his opponent slings a spell toward Ronnie, he evades it like a pro. Before their practice time was over, the other girl managed to sling one last spell.
The Blindfolding one. When Ronnie saw the tale-tell of the fabric emitted from the other girls' wand and the said fabric fly in dangerously close towards him, he ducked down and the fabric falls limply to the ground. "Maybe next time, sleek,"The brunette boy said to his opponents with a playful smile.
"You getting good at dodging spells, Ronnie,"The other girl said to him. "I hope one day we get to be partners up and we definitely will dominate the stage,"The girl expressed. Ronnie smiled at his teammate's statement.
And when their free time was over, both of them get out of the Duelling Club room and walk side by side towards their next destination, respectively. FEARLESS WC : 1.089ReducioAnd though (s)he be but little, (s)he is fierce - William Shakespeare
The quote above definitely applies to Ronnie. For as long as he remembered, Ronnie was never been afraid of anything. Some say he is a thrill-seeker. When Ronnie was about 8 years old, he liked to climb the highest tree that was residing in the Ramírez threshold.
When Ronnie wants to get away or just looked up at the stars, he often times can be found laying around on the rooftop of his house. Throughout his life, Ronnie loves adventure. And being the brother of a Magizoologist, that opportunity always knocks on his door.
Often time than not, Alex would bring him on her trip. Ronnie's passport had collected many stamps from all over the world. Although the Ramírez siblings are magical, their choices of transportation are either by ships (if Alex needs to go abroad) or by Floo powder and/or train (if Alex's duty is in the local area).
Ronnie had tasted all kinds of thrill-seeking moments. He already rode one of the fastest rollercoasters in Dubai, UAE. He also had ridden the tallest rollercoaster somewhere in China. Had walked on the glass bridge of the Grand Canyon, USA. Had climbed Mount. Kilimanjaro that one time with Alex.
Had tried the highest swings. And alongside Alex had climbed the many stairs (365 to be exact) of one of the Mesoamerican step pyramids known as the temple of Kukulcán (El Castillo) that dominates the center of the Chichén Itza. The temple itself is an archeological site in the Mexican state of Tinicum, Yucatán.
Alex was also no different than Ronnie. The Ramírez siblings are definitely an adventurer and thrill-seeking buddies. So one day when Alex had unused vacation days and Ronnie's birthday will be coming soon, the oldest out of the four asked Ronnie if the second youngest of the Ramírez clan wanted to go cliff-diving with her.
Without much thinking that needed to be done, Ronnie said yes to Alex's proposal. For the few days leading up to Ronnie's birthday, Alex made the arrangement so they could do a two weeks worth of trip for their cliff-diving experience - a holiday that was located in Blue Lagoon, Bali, Indonesia.
Since the trip, they will take is far away from home, they need to make sure all the necessary things that they wanted to bring along their trip is packed and ready to go. So when the day came, Alex and Ronnie departed their house before noon.
After some days (or maybe some hours since they traveled by the Diver) of their journey, finally, both of them landed in Port of Benoa, Bali, Indonesia. Since this is the first time both of the Ramírez siblings visit Indonesia, both of them are excited to explore this part of the world that they never visited before.
So, after both of them safely arrived at their boarding, Alex walked around the local while Ronnie dozed off in their shared room. For the next few days, both of the Ramírez siblings tried local food and indulged themselves in local culture.
On the day of Ronnie's birthday, both of the siblings took a small boat that will take them to a small island to do their first-ever cliff-diving. Once both of them arrived at Blue Lagoon, Nusa Penida, Bali, their cliff-diving instructor gave both Alex and Ronnie a brief training on how to do cliff-diving the right way.
After both Alex and Ronnie swam around the clearing to make sure there was no rough coral or reef or even jutted-out stone around their cliff-diving spot, the wave is fairly easy to swim about, and both of them found their exit point, both Alex and Ronnie began climbing the cliff.
Once they stood in front of the lowest height of the cliff which is 10 feet (3m) the cliff, without much thinking, Alex did a small run before she splashed off into the very deep sea below them. When Alex emerged from the crystal-blue water, she encourage Ronnie to do the same.
Ronnie did the same as Alex did earlier. The adrenaline that was coursing in both of the Ramírez siblings made them send various jumps over the various heights of the cliffs.
Once both of them stand on the highest cliff point that Blue Lagoon can offer which is 40 feet (12m) above the deep sea below them, Alex did what she has done earlier but only this time she added a backflip before she splashed into the water.
"That was wicked, Alex!"Ronnie hollowed from where he stood on the cliff. From under the cliff, as Alex swam around, she gave Ronnie a thumbs up and a wink as her reaction to what Ronnie had said to her earlier. "Now is your chance, dear brother,"Alex said.
Ronnie nodded his head. Just like what he did earlier, Ronnie make a small run while calculating mentally before he leaped off the cliff, he did a front-flip. When he did the front-flip the feels was like when you know a rollercoaster you rode on will have that big drop.
Ronnie can feel his heart in his throat before the water hit him. Once Ronnie emerged from the water, his blue-greyish eyes looked at Alex's blue eyes. "You did not tell me how that felt,"The second youngest exclaimed as he splashed his sister in a playful manner.
"That was exhilarating and yet scary at the same time" Ronnie added. "If I told you how it felt, would it make any difference?"The oldest of the Ramírez siblings quipped. "No,"Ronnie replied shortly and let out a small laugh.
"That's what I thought,"Alex answered and splashed her younger brother in the same way Ronnie just did earlier. For several more hours, both of them did some jumps off of the cliff and swam around the sea for quite some time until both of them felt like it is their time to go back to the land.
Once both Alex and Ronnie boarded the small ship that will take them to the mainland again, both of them share the same euphoric smile from such an experience."That was the best birthday give ever, Lexa,"Ronnie said to his oldest sister while both of them dried off.
"Glad you like it,"Alex replied back. "Happy birthday, Verona"Alex uttered and side hugs her second younger brother as both of them walked off the boat.
Once they safely arrived on the mainland, both of them continued their remaining holiday days filled up with adventures until the day they need to come back home after that much-needed holiday.

SORAIA DAIANE MARTÍN SAMPAIO
|
|
ABILITY APPLICATIONadvanced castingWC: 448
Reduciothere are a few things that soraia takes seriously: her mother when she calls her full name, carnival, and her duties as a witch. she grew up surrounded by magic, surrounded by people who could effortlessly perform wonders. her father especially. she would dream about the day she got to begin her own journey. when that gorgeous peach-faced lovebird flew to the sampaio home at the start of carnival -- that was when it all began. everything was a whirlwind at that point but one thing she was sure of -- she couldn't wait to get a wand. when she finally did, it was the greatest day of her life. she spent hours practicing movements with absolute fascination.
even during her first year -- when she knew maybe one or two spells, soraia would obsessively practice them over and over. pronunciation, spell effects, movement. repeat. with every spell she would go on to learn, soraia took her time. she perfected it. every single time she did well or got praise, soraia felt immense pride in herself. over the next few years, it became her process. her study until perfected method increased her productivity. she went from spelling a week obsessing over every move, every flick of her wrist, and every syllable of the spell to...mere days. practice more than made perfect. it wasn't as if she had some kind of pressure from home that was making her hold herself to such a high standard. her parents aren't obsessed with grades or owls. it is pressure from within.
when her father was a student at castelobruxo, he was a prodigal student. he was advanced and well-learned in fundamental subjects as well as superior ones. (in other words, he was a nerd.) he enjoyed the challenge of his courses but he would never hold his daughter to the same standards. and her mother? she's a bold, creative spirit that attended beauxbatons for part of her formal years but education was not her forte. if the family had stuck around france? it was likely that she wouldn't have graduated at all.
no, her parents don't pressure or demand. she's harder on herself than anyone else could ever be. it is because she believes that magic is beautiful. it's wonderful. even at thirteen, there is a respect for the wizarding arts that she doesn't think many of her peers have. besides her respect for magic, she's a duellist. yet another way for her to sharpen and hone her skills as a witch. soraia isn't an overly serious girl. she likes to laugh, frolic, and joke just like other teenagers but when it comes to her education? she's as serious and driven as can be.
comprehend languagesWC: 492 | language chosen: veela
Reduciosoraia has always been a girl prone to bouts of curiosity. she can't exactly help it, the unknown fascinates her. (she's what her grandmother likes to call nosy.) growing up, she got an up close and personal look at the wizarding world and the muggle world. they were duel entities in her life.
her mother, jolie, loves muggle culture and lived a life without magic before the young girl was even born. jolie made the decision to live without magic in her early adulthood. she became a prima ballerina in france, living among muggles -- and only changed her mind when she decided to join the love of her life in brazil. despite reentering the magic world (and resuming practicing magic), jolie still enjoyed aspects of the muggle world. soraia became like a sponge, soaking up information passed informally to her. musical acts, songs, and muggle world history. she also learned english and french right along with her portuguese, her native language, as a child. her father was just the same as her mother when it came to sharing his love of the wizarding world. joão has worked in the department for the regulation and control of magical creatures for almost as long as soraia has been alive. her father's love and care for different cultures and species' besides his own were not lost on his child. she adapted his behavior, approaching those who are different -- and learn differently -- with kindness.
as a child, soraia would sometimes go to work with her father. it was very rare but she'd sit in his office, swing her little feet, and listen to him on the phone or eavesdrop on meetings. trolls, elves, goblin. all beings she learned about before she even knew about santa claus. she learned bits and pieces of different languages sitting at her father's feet. he would go on to teach her words. he couldn't speak many languages fluently himself but he enjoyed sharing those little learning moments with his child. she learned phrases in troll and learned that mermaids have their own special language that they can speak and understand through the water. her father's affiliates with creatures didn't end at work. he would often befriend them. it's how she learned veela -- through a friend of her father's, a young man who worked in the same department.
he became close to the family and over the years, began informally teaching soraia a fourth language. as she did with english and french, she picked it up fairly easily and with enthusiasm. veela was beautiful to her and she was grateful to learn as much as she could. not just the language but the history, the life story of the people who created a language she deeply admired. present day, she still maintains respect for different creatures and cultures. she even keeps her veela skills fresh by practicing the language in her spare moments and constantly researching to remain up to date.
spell spreadWC: 438
Reduciogo big or go home. is that what the americans say? well, soraia has no intention of doing anything besides going big. according to the standards that she holds herself to? there's no other option for her. it matches her boisterous personality. her bright, boundless energy demands that she use it for something and most of the time, it's for magic. soraia can be described as an intense devotee to learning as much as she can and is constantly on the go. she studies and practices spells like nothing anyone has ever seen. sometimes, she even mutters incantations in her sleep -- it's serious for her. and that's why she doesn't ever want to limit herself.
after seeing a spell being spread during a duel, it became yet another primary goal for her to achieve during her third year. often times, soraia knows a spell like the back of her hand. she could utter it while sleepwalking, she could do the movement required with a fraction of detail and still nail it. she even does research when a spell does have multiple uses. for her, it was very easy to dive into the curiosity about an ability that wasn't on her radar until she saw it perform. with soraia, there is always the idea -- the question of what happens if you push just a little bit further.
spell spreading became almost an obsession. when she achieves one goal, there's always another put in it's place. there is no limit for soraia. she saw it and she wanted to do it as well. the power, the boldness. it fascinated her on a level that spells often do. just is her routine, she spent weeks practicing. when she finally made an attempt, it backfired. she spent a few hours in the infirmary trying to make up a good lie to cover the fact that she'd been practicing a tricky thing without supervision. the hit to her pride hurt way more than a bump to the head did.
soraia took another roll of the dice -- and decided to give it another try. what she couldn't replicate with her physical and verbal commands, soraia did her best to learn. she poured over books, rearming herself with information and testimonies from other wizards and witches. it wasn't just a handy trick that she knew she'd be able to pull out during any competition, it was the physical representation of her magic being precise and unrestrained. the next time she attempted the spell spread with the immobulus spell, you could hear her scream of absolute joy -- at the fact that she succeeded. just as she always trained herself to do.

APPROVEDPENDING - September 26 - Owled about the need for edits by October 3rd.
Edits needed: "She has a few scars -- one along her knee, which happened due to a surfing incident as a child. And another over her eye. She doesn't discuss what happened so it's a mystery to most how it happened. (It was a firecracker incident gone horribly wrong) Only by the grace of some higher power does she not have more." - Soraia is a pureblood child, her having scars is inconsistent with this background because parents could wave their wand and easily get rid of any scars that are caused by the above muggle-like means.
The majority of the history provided is her parents, we need more information on Soraia's backstory - Your character lived for thirteen years so far. Please give us a summary of their childhood, with details like their experiences with family, schooling and friends.
Conflicting story - in the comprehend languages application - you mention Soraia's mom was raised muggle, but she is a pureblood. This is inconsistent. Please fix this mention. "her mother, jolie, loves muggle culture and lived a life without magic before the young girl was even born so soraia became like a sponge, soaking up information passed informally to her." It implies her mother was raised muggle, please just make it more clear her mother just spent a few years in the muggle world. Also make it more clear in the mom's history whether or not she completely gave up magic during her time as a ballerina - she could have still been living with magic daily despite the muggle profession - as it's uncommon coming from a pureblood background and would just need a bit of clarity.
Also - please make it clear that the spell spread application is the third-year ability because it has a third-year prerequisite. You can change the order of the applications to make it clear, or just mention that she was practicing in third year to make it more clear.

Fearless - 407 words
ReducioShe’d never been one to look for danger but there was always something dangerous about living in the ancient city of Cusco, Peru. Of being surrounded by jungle and mountains and ancient cracking temples. Growing up, her parents had always warned her about where she should go and where to avoid, but having spent the last nearly 11 years walking the city, Agata didn’t feel the usual caution or fear that she saw in others. Especially the tourists. They were everywhere. Roaming around the streets in wonder. But to her this was home. And it always would be.
Gallivanting around the city with her siblings was always the best part of her day. Now that they were away at school, Agata was on her lonesome. She’d been used to it of course in some way. The youngest of seven, she’d been left to her own devices many times by her parents who were too busy running their plant shop to truly look after her. They specialised in muggle and magical plants, providing anyone with ingredients for whatever they may need. Her siblings at first at cared for her, but as she got older and they left for Castelobruxo, they too left her to her own devices. In the end, she’d spent days exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu, taking the train by herself, and climbing, albeit secretly, the ruins to explore.
She’d even come across sun bears and pumas when walking the ruins in the early mornings. Instead of the rush of fear one would expect at seeing such magnificent beasts, she’d only felt respect and admiration for them. She quietly snuck out of their way, heading towards a different part of the terraced gardens, leaving the animals to themselves. Although she didn’t fear them, she wasn’t stupid. It would be best to leave them alone.
The adventures hadn’t stopped in Machu Picchu. When she was still in Cusco, on days where her mother forbid her from exploring, she’d help in the shop. Her mother would always send her on errands, either delivering packages or getting them for the shop. It was one of her favourite pastimes, and had been for years. She’d been braving the streets doing these errands without assistance for over 5 years now, and felt comfortable in walking the criss-crossing, star-aligning streets by herself without help. She always waved and smiled at her neighbours, not bothered by the sedate llamas or busy cars.
Extracurricular: Can I change to quidditch? If so, I would like to be a chaser. If not, nevermind.Potion Mastery - 420 words
ReducioShe’d been stuck helping her parents in the shop over the Summer. After what had ended up in a disastrous exploration of the European continent and what the British termed, the best school ever (insert eye roll here), her parents had basically kept her holed up inside. Being the youngest, her parents coddled her like a baby, always making sure she was well and wasn’t in pain. She was sick of it. She had paid her older siblings to do her chores for her basically everyday so she could escape.
She didn’t go far. Just around to the next street, into an abandoned building where she had set up her cauldron and supplies on the lower floor. The building had long since been vacated and was a perfect spot to brew potions away from prying eyes. Most of the things she used were her own from school and ingredients weren’t hard to come by either – her parents owned and grew plants for a living. They had numerous magical potion supplies right there for anyone who needed them. Agata wasn’t stealing them, she was borrowing them. Turning them into something useful. They would have been sitting there collecting dust otherwise. It was what she told herself anyway.
Week after week, she spent sat there in the dusty old decaying building reading her potions textbook. It was after three failed attempts that she’d resorted to asking her older brother Julián for help. He was an adult, more than capable of helping her with the magical spell component of her potions. He’d been suspicious at first, but when she’d explained it was because she wanted to learn more about potions he had agreed. It wasn’t his forte but anything for his youngest sister. Sometimes being the youngest paid off! They’d set about doing it every 3 days or so, when they could both get out of chores and work. She’d collected the ingredients and brewed the potions carefully, making sure every one was the correct colour, consistency and if applicable taste.
Once the actual brewing had commenced Julián had proposed she make a journal with all her notes. She’d scoffed at the idea at first, but now, 5 weeks in, she was glad to have listened to him. Every time she trialled a new potion, she noted it down. What type of potion it was, what it did to the consumer, what it looked like, smelt like, tasted like. They were all important details that would help her succeed in learning her potions.

ABILITIES
PERFECTIONIST
ReducioPerfection. It was a whole world. Well, at least according to Lorelai.
She wasn't always perfect, but when she was five years old, she observed her messy room for the first time. Their family did have a maid, Antonella, but this day, Lorelai saw her room before the maid cleaned it. She was surprised. It was a real mess, and she started to clean it, before her maid did.
Since then, Lorelai always wanted everything to be perfect. Her hair, her outfit, her room, everything! She worked hard for everything and always took her time.
The girl always took her time doing things, for example, when she was seven years old, she didn't want to come out of her room, because her shoes didn't match her outfit. Her shoes were blue and her skirt was green. Everything looked good on her, but she didn't come out until she found black shoes.
When Lorelai was cooking, she made everything with precision, everything needed to be the way she wanted it to be. It was her motto. She always did everything by steps. The girl never lost anything, well when she did, she looked a bit and found it, because everything she owned was organized, from pencil cases, to magazines, to cd disks.. Everything! She always thought that if she didn't organize, she would lose something with value.
In school, her grades were good, and she always studied hard, she needed time to study. The girl always spent hours in her room, just reviewing her notes, and to study, she took time. Her mother was so proud of her for doing this. To her, school was easy, because of fact she actually enjoyed studying. Her friends did not, so they're grades weren't as good.
Lorelai was in fact an overachiever, she thought it was a good thing, well it was in some points, but she spent most of her childhood perfecting things, studying, etc. She didn't mind her childhood, she just wanted things to be her way. And most of the time, they were. When they weren't she tried her best to make things look the way she wanted them to be.
Her parents also expected a lot from their child. They wanted good grades, for her to do well in volleyball, for their daughter to cook well.. Anyway, her parents, Olivia and Theo put her in the best schools, the best volleyball lessons, they hired famous teachers to be her tutor, and they even hired the best hair stylists for her to attend parties. Just to attend parties.
But, everything that she did needed to be the way she wanted it to be. In other words, perfect.
SIXTH SENSE
ReducioLorelai Diniz was observant, that was a fact. She was born that way, or so she thought. Perhaps part of the fact she liked things her own way, made her know when things were wrong.
Once, when she was in her fourth grade in school, her siblings, the twins, Isa and Stella switched places. Isa was Stella and Stella was Isa. They wanted to see what would happen, and since they were identical, her parents did not suspect a thing. Neither their teachers. But Lorelai did. She knew something was wrong. She told them she knew and they had to pay her to stay quiet. She wanted to tell someone so bad, but she didn’t. Since they payed her.
Despite being extroverted, she was extremely observant. That was part of her knowing when things were out of place. She also wanted things her own way, and that was one of the reasons too. The girl always wanted things “perfectly perfect”, and you would notice that when you met her, trust me. That was a big part of the reason that she had a sixth sense. Sometimes, the girl would even tell you something like “Oh, your shirt doesn’t match your pants… You should change.” Or “Oh my gosh. You should probably fix your hair. You’re welcome.” And some people did not not like this behavior, leading them to not be friends with Lorelai.
When she was seven years old, her parents took her to an art gallery, and a stray dog outside seemed to be watching her. She noticed this, and tried to scare him away by making faces. She did not succeed successfully and that mission failed, she went home before she could scare him away, and he probably scared her more than she did.
When she was cooking (something she did very often), she knew the time something had to be put in the oven. The girl never burned anything, she only did once, but when she did, she knew something was wrong, something was out of place. Her vanilla cake. She made another one, and it didn’t burn again. Lorelai never burned anything again.
Since her room was always organized and her way, when something was out of place, like a magazine or a piece of clothing, she knew, she always did, and when she found what was out of place, she put it back to it’s proper place. The girl always did.

IC reason why iNPC is being held back a year:
Reducio
In the semester break of 2022/2023 academic year (December 2022-January 2023), a cousin of Sherlock's father took him to a dragon reserve (sanctuary) where he worked at. Unfortunately, the trip that was supposed to be a happy brought a tragedy instead as Sherlock got infected with Dragon Pox. He thus missed one full semester and multiple exams, leading this to not being able to move to third year in July 2023. The young wizard was later fully cured in the end of July 2023 and would be able to return to school in September.
Update - 2nd July - added reason to the ency as I couldn't see it on there and moved back on roster to 2nd year as they were accidentally moved up.Approved (Lear)
The world is in despair not because there are many bad people, but because there are many good people who do nothing.
