Lots of action in the round it seemed, though the Hufflepuffs would not be so fortunate as to see too much of it. Just as Autumn caused the fog to lift, Galton in his sniffling glory seemed keen to give his tactic of hitting two targets at once another go.

Thomas found it interesting in theory, but with the apparent difficulty he wanted to perfect his abilities before earnestly trying to learn the technique.

Regardless of what their moderator thought, Galton was determined to make up for his slow start by sending two Obscuros across the piste, both meeting their mark. Just as Autumn had made way for sight once again, she and her teammate would find themselves blinded. In the meantime, Meenauh was extinguishing her flames and dodging an attempt to keep her on fire by AngelFyre.

"Hm," was Tom's only 'comment' of sorts, if it could even be classified as such.

Spectator Thread

Although most of the duellists used fire against each other, Meenauh always thought she was ready for it. But if that happened, she couldn't think straight enough to think of better moves. If you were on fire, you remove the fire. Which she did. Just in time before another spell from the inside of the fog went, probably, her way. This time it was easier to dodge than the previous one, even though she was busy removing the one before that. Were there better moves? Probably. But sometimes speed was more important and whatever had to be done had to be done.

She didn't hear the incantation properly, but the fog was quickly dissipating, revealing the two opponents with blindfolds around their eyes — to Meenauh's great surprise.

"Wow!" she looked at Galton, whose appearance was not getting better with every second, "How did you do that?! When?" she continued with her voice full of uncertainty and awe — maybe it'd make Galton feel better as well.

It was hard to hold a conversation when your nose was constantly filling with slick slime, blocking your air and requiring your mouth to breath. Mouth breathing meant less talking. And he would need to get to some talking to sort this stuff our with his Wand.

So between desperate gulps of air (and incantations), Galton would explain (plead) to his Wand how not hurting Galton would help the Wand and it's thirst for power. With the current situation as it was Galton hoped they would come to some sort of agreement soon.

And as the fog dropped, it seemed they had. Two hits - all thanks to Mr. Wand. As his partner commented on the badgers new accessory Galton was busy trying not to launch snot across the stage. A stuffy voice would simply reply "W-wand" to Meenauh.

Action: Can't stop boogieing

Autumn's strength often came from the awareness of her environment, and the effects of Meenauh's Nebulus was decidedly not helping. Maybe it was a waste of a spell, or maybe not, but the fog had to go, so Autumn muttered out a counterspell, hoped for the best, and smiled as the fog began to dissipate.

She wasn't the smiling sort of person, and her usual frown was right back on her face as she watched Galton's spell divide into two. Before she could try to dodge, the spell had hit, and a blindfold was wrapping itself around her eyes. Obscuro. She sighed.

She couldn't really see much after that, obviously, but she doubted that AngelFyre's spell had hit its target; she had heard the younger badger's muttering of "Incendio", but not the blazing of fire. She couldn't hear any blazing of fire, actually. The fourth year must have extinguished it. A shame.

It was only slightly humiliating, having lost her sight immediately after having regained it, but she knew more than anything that every duel had its ups and downs. She could only hope that this down was an exception and not the beginning of a series of misfortunes.

Once again, everything happened so unbelievably fast. AngelFyre had smiled upon hearing Simon's voice cheering both her and Autumn on just as they were being shrouded in fog moments before. He was a natural performer who enjoyed a spotlight. AngelFyre was not. She had remained stoically silent when he had excitedly talked of showing up to cheer her on for a change, but he was clueless as to the waves of panic that washed over her at such a prospect. She absolutely loved his faith in her and his encouragement, but harder than anything AngelFyre was likely to face on the piste that morning was her fear in failing and disappointing him.

She instinctively reached up to her collar and caressed the badger pin he had given her on her birthday. Chuckling a little to herself, she remembered something her Grandpa Ezra used to say: 'Suck until you succeed'. So, with that little bit of homespun wisdom tickling her brain and funnybone, she decided to enjoy this ride, no matter how it turned out. Most importantly she decided to enjoy the fact that she had someone... and not just any someone... who cared enough about her to show up for her and encourage her.

Glad to have had the fog shrouding such thoughts and fears from view, AngelFyre shook it all off and got into position, readying herself for her next casting. Their plan was that Autumn would nullify the fog and AngelFyre would keep Meenauh on the hot seat with an Incendio. That was the plan, but it did not go as planned. Autumn performed her part perfectly; the fog cleared. AngelFyre's half was the more problematic issue, however, and she knew as soon as she cast her Incendio at Meenauh it was going to be a miss. She saw the truth of that a few seconds before Galton cast his impressive spell spread, blindfolding both Autumn and herself.

She could feel Autumn's displeasure at the whole predicament, and AngelFyre could not disagree with her assessment. From riches to rags in one round. Yes, their situation did suck right then, but maybe that meant success was just up ahead?

Besides, it was not all bad. Galton was sounding worse by the second. Perhaps that would soon break in their favor.

Although the Hufflepuffs immediately hurried to get rid off their blindfolds, the Lions made good use of their free shots. AngelFyre, unable to anticipate and dodge the attacks, was hit by a powerful Knockback Jinx from Meenauh and a very sniffly but still near perfectly cast and aimed Wind Jinx from Galton. With their sense of sight thankfully returned to them, Autumn and AngelFyre may have found the tides turning against them.

Spectator Thread

Autumn had always been the contemplative one, and having all of her options seem like the wrong one did not help. Still, the blindfold wrapped around her face was particularly unhelpful, and the obvious choice seemed to be taking off.

As she did so, she had barely a second to witness in horror two flashes of light, headed straight toward her teammate. AngelFyre was still standing, but Autumn could only wonder for how long that would be the case. Her heart felt heavy with a feeling she couldn't quite identify. She tried to give a reassuring smile to her teammate, but knowing herself, it was more likely it came out as a grimace.

The conversation with Mr. Wand had begun to lull as Galton fought the ever increasing snot that was flooding his head. If he could, of course he would have, but there was so much to focus on, the conversation had move to the sideline for a moment. The pair would need all their focus for casting in such a turbulent mood.

Boogies was really the bane of young Lansdale’s dueling career. If only it would end, he thought, as he tried to stop a snot rocket from landing on his robe

Action: Really wanna stop boogieing

The blindfold was far more irritating than the fog. At least with the fog, she still had some shred of visibility... she could see her own hand, which was minimally helpful, she supposed. An added benefit was that the fog made it harder for their opponents to see them as well. But the blindfold? It was an irritating waste of a chance to cast and set them up as easy targets. She could not argue that it was not good strategy by the Gryffindors, but nonetheless, it was irritating.

AngelFyre could hear Autumn's frustration as well with her own blindfold and they both pretty much removed them in tandem. Unfortunately, AngelFyre had no sooner been rewarded with the ability to see once again when what she saw coming directly at her, from both Gryffindors, left her no time to even attempt an evasion. In the background, she was vaguely aware of having heard Meenauh intone "Flipendo!" before her blindfold had been completely removed, so AngelFyre had only enough time to tell herself to relax as stiffening or bracing herself could do further damage when she landed. Rag doll was the last thought she remembered having before being struck dead center.

She landed hard, but she had followed her own good advice, so it could have been worse. She must have hit her head because she was literally seeing stars. Huh? Who knew? Thought that was just in cartoons. Breathing was hard, both from the impact of the hard landing but also from the gale force wind blowing in her face. Ah! So that was what Galton had hit her with -- at least she was not in the Hospital Wing. Yet.

Fighting the wind and the soreness from the hard landing, AngelFyre stood with a smile on her face. I Get Knocked Down, But I Get Up Again was playing in a loop in her head. She looked over to Autumn and smile-nodded in her direction in the most reassuring manner she could muster. "I am still here. You are not alone."

They seem to turn the tables a bit, but bogies seemed to get Galton to a darker place. Maybe at the end they would see another Galton, glorified in his phasing out, drool on to the floor and sinking in the goo.

But that was what their opponents could have been thinking. For now they only needed to keep casting.

"Stay awake, Galton the Glorious! Stay awake!" she sent a cheerful call-to-action, before raising her wand again.
