Emma shoved her hands in her pocket, forgetting that her pencils and paper were in there and managing to give herself a bit of a cut from either the pencil or paper. Pulling the one hand out slightly, she took a quick peek, but it looked like a very small cut and hardly worth noting so she just ignored it, stuffing her hand back in her pocket but being careful to avoid the items in the pocket.
”That makes perfect sense to me. And I definitely agree.” Emma said, remembering her first flying less and cringing at the horribleness of the whole thing. Fair to say it had not turned out well. But it was over and she had some control at least. Enough to keep herself on the broom and not get hopeless injured while riding. She still didn’t like the feeling though. There was no safety and flying at heights just seemed silly with no kind of safety harness or something.
”I think everyone feels that way at some point. What is normalness?” Emma asked, knowing there really was no simple explanation. Nobody was ever normal no matter how much they pretended to be.
”Oh cool! Both of those seem like excellent careers.” Taking a moment she blurted out the first thing she could think of. ”Maybe a nurse or librarian if I was still a muggle, but healer or professor of some sort as a witch. Librarian would be cool either way but they don’t seem as in demand in the magical world as in the muggle world.” Maybe it was strange that Emma had already thought so much about the future but making plans and even coming up with goals for the far future helped to calm her and make her feel less nervous about everything.
”So, interesting question. Small things really, whatever I needed would be at hand even though I could swear I had put it somewhere else. The big thing was I hid from my parents in a cabinet and even though my mum looked in it, she didn’t see me. No clue what happened there, but it was obviously magic of some sort. Then the professor came last summer and explained everything. That was a bit of a shock obviously. How did you learn about magic? Have you always known?” Emma was surprised she had talked so long, as it wasn’t her normal behavior but it was a question she had been asked several times so maybe she just felt comfortable giving the answer. Mentally shrugging, she looked down at her feet, swinging them back and forth.
