Cían stood, transfixed, in the doorway. There, before him were two other students, both close to his age by the look of things. One was sitting in an odd manner with even odder hair. The other was going on about all manner of things. He had really only been there for a moment, taking in the scene, trying to piece together where this conversation began from and, more importantly, where it was going.

His ears perked at the idea of a new plant, and even more at the thought of a new potion. These strangers seemed to have their mind on academia already, barely an hour into the journey from London. He stared for a moment longer before piping up, a smile on his face.

"A new potion, ya say?"

His voice was kind and curious.

"Best be careful with that lot. Me Gran was a potions master her whole life," he said with a sing-song-y voice as he strolled in, tossing his trunk in the luggage rack, "can be a dangerous job, that."

He sat down and continued to watch the two. His smile was as kind as his voice, his blue-green eyes speckled with curiosity. They sat behind thick, black frames and atop dark bags. The boy looked as if he hadn't slept in days. It did not seem to bother him, however. His hair was messy, falling all about his face, nearly reaching his chin. It was a silky gold, the kind of blond that reminded you of fields of golden wheat. It seemed the boy has also already changed into his robes before finding a seat for the journey.

"It's nice to meet you lot"

Nyx raised an eyebrow at Danaë. “Dove? How original,” Their tone was sarcastic for a moment before returning to its previous joyful curiosity. “A falcon. That would be nice,”

At the dramatic ‘speech’, Nyx smiled. “I would adore that. A dream come true. There’s nothing I could want more. Well, other than perhaps for my siblings to achieve their own dreams as well, but that’s something else completely,”

They leaned back again, pulling a few strands of hair to the front and braiding them. They just felt like it.

Once Cían announced his presence, Nyx turned and offered a hand to shake. “Your grandmother was a potions master? How interesting! You must know quite a bit on the subject then. And, of course, danger is a part of all good research, is it not? No reward without the risk,”

They gave him a small smile. Their tone was casual with a hint of curiosity, as if there was nothing important happening, only something mildly interesting. Which was what it was. They didn’t consider this a big deal, just something intriguing and new and therefore worthwhile and fun.

“I am Nyx Eros Dove, first year. You may refer to me by either my first or my middle name and by any pronouns. I do not mind,” Nyx did not introduce Danaë because they didn’t feel like it. Besides she was her own person she could do what she wanted.

Seemingly moments after the golden haired boy Cían appeared to take a seat in the carriage another boy appeared to take his place standing in the doorway, a large leather bag slung over his shoulder and a full thick head of windblown ginger hair left scruffily unkept "Al'right byts, how's it going?" He chirped as his gimlet green gaze flickered from Cían to Nyx then finally to Danaë. His accent was quite noticable as he spoke, it sounding quite melodic and sing-songy in a way as is typical for a south walien accent.

"Dyw dyw dyw [God god god] this 'ere train is pretty packed innit? You folk don't mind if I take a seat with ya, my legs are aching me something fierce and that's saying something!" He asked with a polite but cheerful tone to his voice, a warm genuine smile sat comfortably on the boy's lips as he spoke. "Also heard on of yous talking about potions or do I have a niffler in my ear? My mam's something of a potions master herself.. gah my manners!" He interuppted himself before quickly bowing his head into the carriage "Bore da [Good morning] I'm Dafydd Powell, first year! David also works if you wish I don't mind. It's a right pleasure to meet you all, hopefully we can be friends, aye?"

It was at this point the young welshman decided to take a seat in the carriage anyway, inviting himself in as he put his bags away and plopped down onto one of the seats with an overly relieved sigh and a deep exhale.

Cían glanced about, from the outreached hand to the new boy that suddenly found himself in the cabin as well. He narrowed his eyes slightly, deciding on what to do next. He decided to first go for the hand of the person near him, intending to introduce himself as well. He hesitated for a moment, looking at the new acquaintance. His glasses had slipped toward the end of his nose by this point, the humidity of the region and the general stuffiness that comes with a sun blazing through the windows of small cabins for the better part of a day.

"Right," he said, pulling his hand away. He turned abruptly to the new boy with the heavy accent. He took a breath to address the boy, before remembering he had neglected to introduce himself to the person he just shook hands with. "Oh!"

He turned back toward Nyx, a smile on his face made to look goofy due to the position of his glasses. "I'm Cían," he declared, sounding proud to be named such, "Cían Monkes, pleasure to meet you Nyx...er...Dove...wait...uh...Eros?" He hadn't decided on which to call this interesting individual. He paused for a moment to consider before deciding he had an entire school term to make a choice.

"You'd think I might have some idea, but I don't know a bleedin' thing about potion," he said with a chuckle. His eyes narrowed again...he was forgetting something.

He suddenly spun on the newcomer. "Dafydd?" he said quizzically. "Hope I said that right, Cían Monkes, pleasure. Don't know a thing about potions!" He pushed his glasses back to their proper position, his smile still sound on his face. His eyes moved about the cabin, from student to student. His eyes paused often on details in the small room or things passing out the window. It was as if his eye were studying everything.

They blinked as another person entered, eyes turning a startled bright orange before calming down back to their previous honey brown. Goodness, so many people their age! They knew, logically, that such people existed but it was rather strange to actually see them. Nyx looked over them both curiously. "It is rather nice to meet you both as well! If I am being honest, this is quite the first for me. I've only truly interacted with my family before this. It's rather odd to be seeing so many people my own age,"

As Cían looked around, he would likely notice their journal on the seat next to them, a small bag to their side, and a trunk put away in a compartment. Other than that, nothing of Nyx's was around the compartment.

After a moment of observing the new comers, specifically Dafydd, they spoke up again, their casual, if curious, tone remaining. "How curious, I've never seen anyone with red hair before. Certainly not anyone with natural red hair. Is it natural?" Then, more to themself, "I wonder how such a shade might look on me,"

They opened a pocket of their bag and pulled out a small hand mirror, holding up so they could see their hair clearly. With their empty hand, they pulled a small section to the front andran their fingers through it. As they did so, that section of hair turned a dark red. "That's not right, no, perhaps more orange?" They muttered to themself. In the next moment, it was more of an orangish ginger. And it shifted in colour once more.

In that final attempt it looked somewhat similar to Dafydds hair colour. It certainly wasn't the same, and clearly wasn't their natural colour, but Nyx was satisfied. They ran a hand through their hair and their whole head turned that shade. After looking in the mirror for a few moments, they frowned and the colour faded, turning back to their previous pinkish auburn.

"I do hope I am not sorted in Gryffindor. Red and orange certainly do not suit me very well. And, of course, neither does their house traits.. No, Gryffindor certainly wouldn't work for me. Hm," Then, as if they were remembering the others were there, despite having been aware the whole time, just not caring, they looked over to and asked the others: "What house do you all think you might be in?"
