Bubble Trouble
Haven's feet did a little tippy-tap dance under the umbrella. If it weren't for the hail that was harsh on her head, she'd probably go dance in the downpour. She could never keep still. She could never stay silent. Even then, her brain was still moving faster than her body, but usually never in the right direction. No matter what she said or how fast, she couldn't keep up.
"Oh, you're very welcome," Haven said after she had gone on a bit of a tangent involving marshmallows and fruit snacks and jellyfish. See, Evelynn appreciated her compliment! That meant they were friends now, or something like that anyway. She hoped. Having a prefect on her side could really be quite handy, especially one that was already used to her jabber! She was so happy she had a new friend. Hey, maybe she'd enjoy learning the dance that she just made up...
Evelynn's very shocked "what" startled Haven out of her head a little bit, listening to her assumption of what happened, but really- "Well, no. I did not take it out of my holster, I just took the holster off and put it in my bag. You know! So it doesn't fall open and go splat on the ground and then break into a million tiny little pieces and get lodged into my foot or anything. I don't want to leave it on my body." She did a little shimmy to accentuate the point. "It makes total sense, I swear! Plus, you never know when you'll encounter a situation like this... we don't want the bubbles to seep in and ruin the magic, now do we?" Haven had a point. It was not a very strong point, but a point nonetheless.
Before even Haven could comprehend it, Evelynn was walking out of the not-so-bubbly bathroom, leaving her behind, and in hail's way. "Ouch," she muttered as she followed. "Shouldn't you do something about the hail? I wouldn't want some poor unsuspecting first year to come in and have their poor little noggin penetrated with tiny pellets! I'd do something myself, but, you know, no wand." She held out her empty hands. Haven wasn't very keen on the prospect of being pelted with hail, but what could she do?
Suddenly, Haven had an idea. She stuck her hand up her sleeve, shimmied a little bit, pulled out her wand, and cast the umbrella spell. She nodded to Evelynn, encouraging her to rid the room of the hail. "Come on, the faster you get rid of this hail, the faster we can look for my wand!" She held the magical umbrella over their heads. "So, I just came from Transfiguration, but before I came here I took a stop by History of Magic to say hello to one of my many, many friends. Though I don't think it would hurt to check by the common room either, because I had to grab a snack! It's important to have fuel to keep you going through a long school day." She nodded, matter-of-factly. Not double-checking to see if Evelynn had even gotten rid of the hail, Haven started running out, pulling ahead of her new companion.
"Come on, slowpoke, let's find my wand!" she said with great glee. What an adventure this would be!

Bubble Trouble
There had been several points during this peculiar interaction where Evelynn had come to the (hopeful) notion that it had reached its peak of oddity, that there couldn't possibly be anything said or done that would further sink the prefect into pit of disbelief. Generally, this was after a particularly odd comment or trail of sentiments carelessly beaded together on a string of chaos. Nonsense about marshmallows and fruit snacks had been the last such lowering of the bar.
Yet here she was again as the barmy badger went off about her holster. Specifically about the removal of the holster to place within her bag. To keep her wand safe. As though it weren't already quite safe and properly stowed in a well-secured holster. It wasn't as though the point of a holster was to be attached close to the body and to keep a wand both out of the way of immediate sources of accidental damage while also keeping it readily available in an emergency or time of need. Like now. Not at all...
Baffled as she was, words seemed to fail her. She simply stared ahead, almost entranced by what seemed so illogical to her. Her mind had simultaneously revved itself into a flurry of silent counter-arguments and corrections, while going nowhere. In fact, had it not been for Haven's mutter of pain, the prefect may very well have discarded any further notion of doing anything at all with the current predicament, exited the loo without so much as looking back or sparing a second thought, and wandered vacantly through the very dry halls with her magical umbrella still in hand.
Instead, blinking with the falter of her step, she paused and slowly turned about to see her peer trailing rather miserably in her wake. "Oh..." The girl's sentiment of doing something about the hail had hit her like a particularly engaging critical thinking question in a charm's class. Storm-grey eyes averted themselves to the hazy cloud coverage above. "Yes... I suppose so."
In that moment, the translucent glow of her immaterial umbrella gradually faded into a shimmering mist of nothing as she mentally dismissed the spell. In the next, she had flicked it out towards the unnatural weather, moving the tip appropriately to cast, "Finite incantatum." And like the sun breaking through the last remnants of a particularly stubborn overcast day, the hail dwindled down to nothing and the clouds parted. Reining back her attention to check on her inept companion, Evelynn suddenly found her gone. She blinked. Then snapped her head around towards the entrance from which a voice had sounded entirely too gleeful.
"Where are you—" But the girl was already racing out like some child set loose upon a playground.
In a brief lapse of dignified composure, Evelynn's head had rocked back upon her neck, eyes drifting to the ceiling as though some divine message scrawled upon its surface might provide her the answer to extract herself from what had evidently become a time-consuming goose chase. Selfish temptation to abandon the girl in favour of actually useful activities tip-toed itself through her mind. But her steadying breath crushed it obstinately back into place. On exhalation, she had stepped off with swift strides towards the exit, posture good and well corrected.
"Must you really run?!" She called ahead, brows furrowing. The decision may have been made to allow herself to be dragged along on this fool's errand (she couldn't justify abandoning this girl to her own folly given the potential dangers lurking around the school) but it didn't mean she couldn't do so on her own terms!𝔼𝕩𝕚𝕥𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕋𝕙𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕
