2021, Stage 1 Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 1 fin

True to their houses, Ravenclaw had come with tactics and Gryffindor with unbridled aggression. After side-stepping the Pressurized Water Charm from Alan, Phaedra flicked her wand with ease, pronunciation accurate off the tongue. Nebulus. Aida's ability to see in face of obstruction had become too fruitful an attribute to not utilize. The same unfortunately couldn't be said of herself.

It was a solid opening save for her own blunder. A jet of air caught her off guard, limbs drawing too little coordination to react in a timely manner. She knew others were capable of what Galton had done, but it was a definite first finding herself on its receiving end. Phaedra could only hope that his lack of restraint in bringing out the big guns so early would later manifest as a backfire or two.

Where Galton's spell had landed warranted a grimace and a roll of the shoulder. The spot ached, but was nothing yet she couldn't handle—her adrenaline would soon burn the perception from mind regardless. At least her partner was fine and seemingly more upbeat. Risking a glance at the eccentric Aida, Phaedra's features flickered with surprise, then warmth at her show of dedication.

“Good. And I for you.”

As the fog continued to surround Alan and Aida, Alan seemed to decide not to cast. Rather, he seemed ready to jump away from any spell that came near him. After all, it was hard for him to see in all of the fog so it made sense. This paid off as Phaedra cast the Wind Jinx at Alan and Galton. Alan easily slipped past the gust of wind, as not one but two gusts headed towards Galton. The wind headed towards Alan did the rare chance of splitting off, heading straight towards his duelling partner. This proved to be no issue for him though as he dodged both chances of getting hit. Willow let out the breath she was holding, that must be a mightly blow for Phaedra.

Galton took no time at all to repay the favor by casting the Blindfolding Spell at Phaedra. She tried to dodge, but not quite in time. She blindfold was loosely wrapped around her face, impairing her vision until she could take it off. Aida was seeking out revenge for her partner, maybe, and cast the Fire-Making Spell II at Galton. It was wildly successful, lighting the boy up in flames. As a Hufflepuff, Willow cringed. Fire and badgers did not get along. Thank goodness she wasn't in this duel.

The sweets-loving boy was aflame. It surely hurt, and Aida had done this to him, but she was supposed to. The school was training them to attack each other. They were all training in combat, but why it had to be this way was still not clear to Aida. The albino indeed warmed with some satisfaction from seeing her spell perfectly hit the mark, but there was no special pleasure in the target having been another person. She knew the pain Galton must be feeling. How sad that the world’s creatures had to burn each other like this, she thought. Why is it so? Must it be so?

Glancing at Phaedra, Aida knew that the sides had been chosen already and there was no point in trying to stop the fight. Everyone here consented to waging violence against each other.

"Will this fog ever stop?" he grumbled, as just in time he could see some light glimmer through the fog as he sensed a strong gust of wind heading his way and quickly, and rather nimbly dodged out of the spells way. He would narrow his eyes to try and set sights on Galton, "Where you hit? Did you hit?" he would ask curiously. He had no idea what was going on outside of the fog that surrounded him as everyone had been reduced to a bunch of shapes that hazily moved. Like in a dream of some sorts. He would wave around his hands in an attempt to clear his view, but it was fruitless.

Alan felt like a bat, minus the echolocation so basically useless. He would however not let that get to him as he gripped his wand tighter and narrowed his eyes at their opponents. Perhaps he had underestimated them, but he was still confident in Galton's and his abilities to emerge as winners. There was no way he would be losing his very first duel! He could not even see Tiger, he wondered whether Tiger could see through fog, was that something a cat could do? Perhaps his other senses would make up for the lack of sight but Alan was no cat that could just sniff out his opponents.

Galton always found it a little funny that fire spells were still legal in dueling. They causes so much chaos, and substantial pain. Other spells that were considered more lethal were not allowed, so fire always tickled him as strange. As his body was covered in a nice bout of fire, he could only cringe. The magic would begin to singe his skin. Nothing magic wouldn’t heal, right? At least physically.

"Alan! I’m lit up like a Christmas tree, you can’t miss me, just get out of that fog." Galton would yell out. If one was listening they’d be able to catch a hint of panic in his voice. This match was really… heating up

She never expected to hit Alan in the first place. The fog was a protection for him too, but it didn't hurt to try while they were both as blind as bats. You miss every shot you don't take, as they say... or all three in her case. When an extra--unintended, but welcome--jet of air from the first slung in Galton's direction, her shoulders slumped in disappointment at its miss. Curse her luck.

And curse her height making a bigger target out of her than she would have liked. Galton retaliated with a blindfold, robes doing little to aid in her limbs' reaction away from it. The cloth wrapped around half her head, covering one eye. It didn't fully negate her vision, but would serve as a detriment to her full potential. How annoying. Hopefully the flame and fog kept the boys busy.

Aida removes Phaedra's Blindfold
Effects: Phaedra is no longer blindfolded.
Teamwork seemed to be the name of the game this round, with partners supporting partners. Aida's hands reached through the fog that seemed to be dispersing to untie Phaedra's slippery blindfold. While Phaedra struggled to see she took preemptive action to protect herself and cast the Shield Charm.

On the other end of the battlefield, Alan successfully put out Galton's fire that was creeping up his cloak while he attacked the other two. His spell landed easily on poor Phaedra. Luckily she had the shield to prevent her from taking any damage, but the knockback from the wind would leave her trying to regain her stance next round. Despite Aida working to free her teammate, she seemed to hide in the fog, the spell whizzing by her.

The fog finally dispersed after this round, leaving Aida and Alan visible once more. They looked fantastic. Willow missed being able to see the both of them.

Aida removed Phaedra’s blindfold, softly smiling. She had hoped that her flames would do her damaging work for her as she assisted her duelling partner, but it seemed Alan would not be content to let Galton go up in flames. In the pit of her stomach, Aida felt that this was likely to be a long match.

Truly, being next to Alan made Galton feel at ease. Whatever it was, it made his try just a little harder. Not that Galton wouldn't already be trying hard, but he just made it so you could try even harder. Or it was the fact that he had just covered Galton in water and extinguished the flame eating away at him. But, whatever it was, it made aiming his Ventus just a little easier.

It may have only hit a protego, but it still hit! "Alan! Thanks!" He would pivot a bit to quickly flash a smile to his partner. A small squelch would come from his shoe's heel. The fire was out, and Alan had done Galton's laundry for the day. How considerate.
