Like hounds smelling blood, the Slytherins zeroed in on the laughing Hufflepuff, who was still getting pushed around by winds, keeping him off-balance. Both @Illowy Magnard and @Starlee Kennedy aimed at him with Knockback Jinxes, intent on doing maximum damage while he was weakened. But @Julian Pritchard seemed to have seen this coming: He focused on dodging for the moment, ducking first left and then sprinting right to get out of the way of both spells, successfully.

Another bright spot for the Hufflepuffs: @Martyna Romero's spell was aimed better this time, unerringly finding her friend across the stage, who would start being shaken by uncontrollable giggles just as Julian's laughter faded.

It seemed that the Badgers were not to be underestimated, after all.

Preparing for her next spell, she could hear the cheering of Cash in the crowd. Another of Starlee's best friends, practically an older sibling, Cash always made it out to her duels, and Starlee did her best to make it to every one of their quidditch matches. She smiled out into the crowd, not totally able to pinpoint Cash, but feeling a sense of pride. Having friends like this was the best feeling.

"Flipendo!" Starlee yelled, pointing her wand at the Hufflepuff boy. Illowy did the same, both of them using one of the oldest tricks in the book to deal some full out damage. Alas, it seemed he was very ready for it, and, even if he was somewhat off balance from Illowy's prior spell, he easily dodged both of them. At least for once it wasn't necessarily her aim that was off, but the skill of her opponents dodging, since that was all he had chosen to do. He knew the viper's sights were locked in on him.

Starlee had been so focused in on her target, that she failed to see Tina's oncoming tickling charm, this time making impact with it's intended target: Starlee. She began to feel a strange feeling welling up in her chest, and, suddenly, she burst out laughing uncontrollably. She gripped her stomach with her free hand, attempting and failing to quell the laughter. "Aaaaishhh! Ahah- Tina haha- how could you? haha!" she would tease her friend rather dramatically. While she may be bantering playfully with her friend, she again attempted and again failed to try to compose herself, because she was going to keep on trying, despite her laughter.

"I-it's okay... Um, but maybe..."

Julian's wisdom was left unspoken (maybe due to the tickling). Maybe... she should continue the duel as though nothing was wrong?

As Illowy and Starlee both aimed their wands at Julian, probably hoping to eliminate one of them as quickly as possible, Tina stopped babbling apologies and focused on getting her spell right this time. She pointed her wand at their opponents, and cast a very tidy 'Rictusempra', which hit Starlee square in the chest and caused the girl to burst out laughing.

"Yes, I'm too cruel, I know," Tina replied with a coy smile. There were worse fates than being mercilessly tickled. In hope of chasing some of her attention away from her poor partner, she rocked between her feet. "C'mon! You can try and hit me again! ...I promise won't be mad~!"

Julian could see Martyna getting ready to cast another spell, but he didn't immediately follow suit. He was still giggling like a maniac, and off-kilter from the wind. Given his first spell, cast with a well-drilled stance while not completely out of breath from laughing, had missed. It seemed unlikely he'd be able to hit anything before he'd had a second or two to recover.

It was a good thing, too. Apparently sensing that he wouldn't be able to do much to defend himself, both Starlee and Willowy had turned his wands on him. He noticed quickly enough that he was able to scramble to the left side, still clutching his ribs, to dodge one, and then hurried scrambling back to the right. Both spells passed him harmlessly.

When he made his way back to his spot, the tickling sensation finally waning and allowing him to take a couple of much-needed gulping breaths, it was only for the sound of laughter to immediately erupt around them again. This time, he was not the source, but Starlee. It seemed Martyna had tried yet another Tickling Jinx. This time, a much better aimed one.

"Oh, you did it! You hit them!" he exlaimed, flashing his partner a dimpled grin. Sure, it might seem like a low bar to simply hit someone--and Martyna had duelled the previous year, so this was probably not the first time she'd ever hit anyone--but Julian still found himself surprisingly overjoyed. After all, they'd survived him missing and then getting hit by his own partner, and--in a way--it felt like they were almost tied. Things were looking much better.

Never had Illowy been in a duel where everyone was so... friendly. Thus far, she was the only one not tossing out idle chatter. It almost felt like she was supervising a play date, not trying to knock a couple of underclassmen out cold. It was positively baffling to her. Who gave permission for their opponent to cast at them?? In any other duel, any banter tossed about was usually at her teammate, conversations with opponents were rare and never friendly... was this how every duel with Hufflepuffs went, or was it just that way when you're matched with underclassmen?

Whatever the answer, it would have to wait until the duel was over. Eventually they'd learn the gravity of the situation they were in.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

The friendly banter across the field continued. While @Julian Pritchard seemed heavily impressed by his partner's ability to land a spell, @Martyna Romero and @Starlee Kennedy seemed to enjoy slinging attacks at each other to an absurd degree - and not even really mind if the other one managed to hit.

Those were dynamics Dee had certainly never seen during a duel before, and by the looks of it, neither had @Illowy Magnard... but Dee had to admit, it was rather entertaining.

Perhaps it was the general distraction in the air that made the next spells cast take some unexpected turns. Julian appeared to be ready to dodge for his life again, and with reason, seeing as both Slytherins had aimed for him last round. And yet, no spell came even close to hitting him, although not for lack of trying.

Illowy went for Martyna first, casting wind at her the way she had at Julian earlier. The Wind Jinx was known for one unpredictable possibility however: It sometimes split into a second blast of wind, to perhaps affect the target's partner as well. That was what happened in this case, while the primary spell arced towards Martyna, well-aimed and perhaps unexpected, another one split off to target Julian... or did it? Unexpectedly, this second projectile also curved towards Martyna, leaving the girl the target of two blasts of wind, of which she only managed to dodge one. The Knockback Jinx she had aimed at Starlee managed to clip its target despite the confusing situation.

Starlee had her wand aimed at Julian to begin with, a flash of light announcing the Knockback Jinx that was meant for him. Yet, again the spell inexplicably curved away from Julian, heading for Illowy instead, and Dee frowned in confusion. Did that boy have some sort of... spell-deflecting aura? It was nothing she'd ever heard of, unless he was actually able to cast the Shield Charm, but he seemed too young for that. Illowy dodged the Jinx easily, leaving her the only unharmed duellist on the piste.

Starlee was certainly feeling more confident, light-hearted even, at this duel over both her previous duels. Perhaps it was something to do with two opponents that were actually her age standing on the other side of the piste, but, more likely, it was the addition of an actual friendly face. Someone who she knew didn't have ulterior motives. More than likely, her previous opponents had no other goal than to win, and not some nefarious goal to knock every possible person unconscious, but it is certainly reassuring to know that they aren't trying to hurt you. Starlee tended to take things (aka everything) a tad bit too personally.

But, for once, Starlee could actually say she was enjoying this duel. Her and Tina's friendly banter always made her feel better, and it was certainly having that effect now, even on such a stage of spellcasting and fighting. Granted, she was partially doubled over from the tickling spell Tina had sent her way, but she was still actually enjoying it instead of being stressed out and worried.

Starlee watched as Illowy sent a well-cast Ventus at Tina this time, watching her get knocked back. "Haha, knocked the wind right outta ya! hehehe..." Starlee continued chuckling at her own horrible pun. It was probably that, with the addition of the laughter, that caused her own spell to go horribly awry. She aimed at Julian, but it veered quickly off course, straight for Illowy. Illowy managed to dodge it fairly easily, but she wasn't quite sure how Illowy would feel about becoming the accidental target. Had her aim really become that terrible? Starlee would really have to practice more. Or... was it something else entirely? But, in any case, Starlee was the one who needed to apologize.

"AAhhhhhah, Ahem, haha, Er, sorry there Illowy... eeeehehe..." An apology combined with incontrollable laughing probably didn't sound the most sincere,
but hey, she was trying. She had to pull herself together. She was letting herself get distracted by a friend. This had to end. Still laughing, she attempted a deep breath, a bloated, bug-eyed 'serious' face (see reducio), and continued to push on.

Julian was leaping out of harm's way yet again, still impaired by Illowy's wind jinx. Tina didn't quite feel secure enough to put herself in harm's way for him, as virtuous as it would have been, instead opting to cast Flipendo on Starlee, hoping that the combination of tickling and distracting chatter might throw her opponent off, and draw her attention away from Julian. The spell landed, but didn't knock the other girl back fully.

All of a sudden, Tina felt herself being pushed back by a strong gust of wind. She stumbled over her feet, trying to find her footing through the beating air. She didn't have much time to react to this new situation she found herself in, however, as the second gust of wind (which had for a moment been targeting Julian) veered off course and began heading towards her. She yelped and toppled out of the way as it grazed past her. "Oh my gosh Julian, you're like the opposite of a magnet right now!" she said, a little exasperated at having become the new target. Starlee's cackles soon found her ears, as did the girls puns. "WOOOOOOWWWW. What have I done to you- oh... Welp."

This time, it was Starlee who had targeted her partner. Thankfully - for Slytherin, at least - Illowy was able to dodge the spell with more ease than Julian had, leaving her unscathed (for now). Starlee's face was sort of worth it though.

Still a little off-kilter, Julian didn't immediately jump into offensive action. The odds that he'd be forced to dodge two simultaenous spells again seemed too high. Instead, he took a defensive stance and waited for everyone to cast (all the while throwing a sympathetic glance in Starlee's direction because, really, tickling was awful).

It wasn't long before spells came their way. Though it seemed the Slytherins were through capitalising on their advantage, and only one of the spells seemed directed at him. 'Seemed' an entirely appropriate descriptor, because the spell did not travel along the expected trajectory towards, heading towards Illowy instead. And immediately after something similar happened with the Wind Jinx that Illowy had directed at Martyna, where a second projectile head split off the original jinx, seemingly in his direction, only to curve back towards Martyna.

Really, Martyna's comparison seemed appropriate. He really did feel like he was pushing spells away from himself. "The opposite of magnet would still be a magnet, I think? Just one that's acting on something with the same polarity." He was honestly bewildered, but he wasn't about to complain. He did feel a little guilty, since his whole focus had hardly been necessary to avoid the spells.

"I'm sorry, I should've cast something," said Julian, biting his lip guiltily as he watched his teammate struggle against the same sort of wind he'd been fighting only a few minutes ago. At least Martyna had scored another hit.

The older girl could have slapped a palm to her forehead hearing her partner's painful pun after she's managed to split her jinx, both managing to hit Romero. How the check this lad was... Deflecting so many spells was beyond her. Not that she had much time right now to ponder about it anyway as Starlee's spell strayed towards her. With dancerly effort, Illowy avoided the jinx, shooting a look at her partner as though to say "what are you doing".

That look quickly shifted seeing Starlee desperately trying to put on a serious face. Illowy pressed her lips in a tight line quickly looking away for fear prolonged staring might make her bust laughing too, and she wasn't even under a spell.

"Just.... Try to keep your wit about you, Kennedy." She advised, still trying to maintain her out composure.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
