"It’s a game for them. They enjoy flaunting what they believe they own and see it as a comeuppance of sorts, considering they had to endure their families doing the same." His mother had already moved on to the next guest, chattering away. There was not a doubt in his mind that she was telling tales of his many achievements. She was a hunter setting traps and brushing the ground behind her to cover her tracks; the truth about her son. On the duelling team, she’d likely say, he has ‘Os’ across the board. She would leave out his troubled history at the school, the time he spent in the headmaster’s office, his blatant love of Muggle culture, and his venomous tongue. They were covered beneath a layer of underbrush, twigs, and leaves, and Linnéa Kolbeck’s net lay beneath it. She was a crafty woman indeed, and from across the room their eyes would lock and the Swede would feel a sudden urge to roll his eyes when she spotted Santario next to him and earned her smile.

"As a warning; we’ve been spotted. I’m unsure how much time it will take her to find your family." He released the girl’s hand and took a single step sideways to create distance between the two. There was no need to get his mother’s hopes up, especially because that would mean she would try to worm her way in and make... Plans of some sort. Felix had long since grown tired of the ‘play dates’ she attempted to send him on.

The brunette would stutter and he would nod his head, popping another piece of food into his mouth. He could have apologized for being inhospitable, but it had never been his strong suit. Sometimes when you were nice to girls, they got the wrong idea. He took a moment to study her face, to try and read the girl. She was a shy thing, with freckles peppered over her nose and large blue eyes wide enough to make her look like she had jumped directly off the page of a fairytale book. The word ‘fawn’ came to mind and images of his little sisters filtered through his mind. He would sigh and try again, "Well, I was going to offer you to share, but if you’d rather I keep blocking your way..." A pause accompanied by a thin grin.

Soon he was being introduced to the stuttering brunette, "It’s nice to meet you both." That was to be determined, really, but it was the polite thing to say, and they had given him no reason to be hostile. Yet... "Opeila, that’s an interesting name." Felix had never been one to care for formalities. He would let the fawn use his first name.

The Swede had started to wonder if he was the only boy attending the ball, wwhen suddenly a redheaded one appeared and offered Santario a hug. He seemed to be a few years older than Felix. What interested him more, however, was the bundle he was carrying beneath that jacket. He might not have possessed a keen eye, but he could definitely tell it seemed lumpier than any carried item of clothing would be. He decided not to call him out on it, since there would be no point. "I’m Felix Kolbeck." He would accept that handshake. What was one more, anyway? Besides, he was thankful for the boy’s presence. "I’m from Swedish, I attend Durmstrang. He figured he may as well explain his future visit to the Scottish castle. "I’m in London for the summer. I'm attending summer camp at Hogwarts next month."

"Something new," said her parents. "Something fun," also said her parents.

Everly was ready to fully prove them wrong.

The concept was new, and it did sound fun, however. Everly had never done anything so pureblood-y before, and she felt as if being accepted into some prestigious organization or something. Though, by technicality, they were a pureblood family, they had adapted a more modern perspective of muggle-borns, something that her mother's bloodline had not accepted. For all of Everly's life, they'd been treated as some kind of "lesser" class, had never attempted to contact her relatives, and for most of the time, Everly couldn't be happier. It was intriguing to see what a ball like this was like, though. "Connecting with your roots," they said.

She had no idea how she was supposed to act. Her parents treated this as some kind of passage of rite, and warned her several times to behave. Everly was miffed, but she did realize the importance of sorts of this. If she flubbed this, she'd never live it down. She was determined not to do so.

Everly had been introduced. Quite literally, someone who actually spent the entire ball announcing people's names, made it clear to everyone that the Charlton family was coming in. Everly shrunk physically, completely confused and unsure what to do. She'd never been introduced. Quite frankly, the concept was frightening, in some way. Adeline nudged her forward lightly with a small laugh, and Everly stumbled, holding up her dress skirt so she wouldn't trip over the ridiculous thing. The theme, as Everly had been kindly reminded by her mother several, several times, was blacktie, and one should dress appropriately.

Righting herself with a quick scour of the entire area, she deemed there was nothing remotely interesting for her to do. The Charlton family scattered, her parents off the loiter and find someone to talk to, her brothers and sister off to find something to do, leaving her to fend for herself. After spending a long, awkward moment of standing in the same place, she went to mingle, and find someone to talk to. After all, she wasn't planning to spend the entire ball doing nothing.

Violet was used to fancy balls and pureblood parties such as the Beckett Ball, and was expressionless when she and her family were introduced following their entrance into the manor. She was starting to wonder who inside the building she knew, whether it was from school or somewhere else, but she couldn't exactly find any familiar faces. Frowning, Violet stayed close to her mother, looking at the event.
She was wearing a long, starry themed black dress, high black heels and her hair was down and she was wearing a small locket in it, which contained the picture of her toad with a red ribbon (nobody would be able to see the picture tho, since it's inside the locket). Image posted by the member
In her hands was a small ring, and she was carrying a small black handbag that would be easy to carry around. Inside the bag, there was her toad, Ollie, her wand, a notebook and pencil as well as a few galleons, just in case. She had no idea why she would need her wand today, considering that magic was not allowed outside Hogwarts grounds until she graduated, but since Violet didn't feel like herself leaving her wand lying around the manor, she decided to bring it along.

Looking around once more, Violet finally spotted Everly, a familiar yet disturbing face to see from Violet's point of view, considering their history. Violet rolled her eyes but then her mother decided to make her life a living hell once more. ''Run along, Naomi. Go and talk to people and socialize.'' oh shit, socialize. Violet hated that word with her soul. She rolled her eyes, and her mother's stony gaze into her soul told her that it was better to follow her orders.

She had no idea who else was in the ballroom, so she decided to go and talk to Everly. Violet thought that it was the perfect moment for her to vomit her anger towards the Gryffindor. Yes, what a perfect moment for her favourite activity. ''Oh, hello Charlton!'' Violet said, smiling sarcastically as she took a drink in her hands. ''I was wondering, why in the world are you here? They couldn't have possibly been invited, right?'' Violet pointed at Everly's parents with her chin.

Santario nodded as Felix spoke. “That’s very true. I am a cycle breaker, much to the dismay of my grandmother.” Then he mentioned something that made her eyes widen slightly, and she mimicked his move away before discreetly looking in the direction of his mother, feigning fixing a part of her hair. “Merlin, if they find each other, we’re going to be engaged before we leave this ball. My grandmother would seal the deal by spinning the sob story of my dead parents to your mother.” Santario shook her head lightly with an eye roll of her own.

She was quiet and observant as Opeila and Felix acquainted with one another until her name being called drew her attention to a boy that made her face light up like a full moon in the darkest of nights. “Alan!” He wrapped an arm around her, and she, in turn, carefully wrapped her around him. A gasp when she realized precisely what or rather who was under his coat. “Brother, you didn’t!” She hissed with an amused smile on her face, long past the point where she only referred to him as Alan. As far as she was concerned, he was the brother she never had, and there was no point in acting like he wasn’t.

“How in the world did you get Tiger in here? How are you going to keep him hidden?” Santario could not believe that he had managed to get his cat all the way here without anyone noticing that he had him in his coat. She wondered if they could sneak outside onto the back porch with some of the smoked fish. That way, Tiger would be able to roam a little.

"San!," he chirped as he smiled brightly at the girl. He was glad to see her, after all the two of them had not had too much time to interact together lately because both of their lives had turned more busy. He should have expected her to be at this ball, but he didn't and thus it was somewhat of a pleasant surprise. Perhaps this ball would not turn out too boring after all. A sheepish look appeared on his face when she had caught what he had done, or rather who he had brought. "Well they never mentioned something about a plus one," he argued innocently, though knew full well the extend of what he did.

He could have gotten in so much trouble if his parents had found out before they arrived here, they would have likely returned home and left Tiger there all on his own. The soon to be fifth year truly would not want that and thus just had to bring his cat. "Hidden? The difficult part was to get him here, now that he is here there should not be an issue, right? He is following their dress code after all!" Right on command the feline would stick his head out from under the cloak, upon hearing Santario's familiar voice and noticing her scent. Indeed the bengal cat was wearing a tiny black tie that had been attached to his harness.

There also seemed to be a Durmstrang boy, at least if he had heard it all correctly. Felix seemed to be his name, so he would smile at him and shake the offered hand; with his hand that was not currently carrying a grown feline of course. "Pleasure to meet you Felix, like the others I attend Hogwarts, are you excited for the camp?" he would ask curiously. "Have you been to London or Scotland before?" Another question, he hoped the boy would not mind. Though he would doubt it, the boy did not seem like a bad person. After all he had greeted him nicely.
