"I don't need you to be complete to be my friend," she smiled at him and assured him. "In fact, isn't that what friends are for? To help hold each other up when we're feeling down?" She knew it was one of the reasons for friendship anyway.
"I'm not sure yet. Bella's staying at Beauxbatons for all their festivities and since I haven't really heard from my father, I'm leaning towards staying here. Are you planning on staying?" she asked hopeful.
"Maybe we could arrange a Christmas dinner or something. Decorate the abandon classroom, invite any others we might know that aren't going home." She didn't know though, maybe Hogwarts had their own things for Christmas.
The year prior, it was a requirement that she and Bella had come home. Her father had practically demanded it. Now, she couldn't even get a single letter from him and she really wasn't feeling going home to an empty house. "Or I suppose going home wouldn't be so bad if I could talk someone into coming along but I'm not sure how that works with parental permission and all." Surely she wouldn't have that with her father off and about to who knows where or why.

As he heard Alina speak, Henry just smiled at her as he didn't know what to think of her words. He never told anyone his worries or problems before really and he didn't exactly know the purpose of friendship was for yet anyway. So the boy just nodded a bit as he spoke " yeah I guess."
Henry had regretted mentioning the Christmas holiday since to the boy it sounded like Alina was staying at the castle and even ask him if he was staying before going on to plan what sounded like a Christmas at Hogwarts for the others staying as well. Henry wasn't staying through even though there were times he wanted to, Henry would be returning to his home to spend sometime with his best friend but he didn't want to tell Alina this, since he was already feeling bad for her.
However when she mentioned inviting someone to her house that gave her a idea, Henry smiled a bit before saying " I thought about staying to but decided to go home. Over the break my best friend and I planned to meet up and all," he still felt bad telling Alina this especially after she mentioned she will be staying at Hogwarts so he then spoke " if you want Alina, you can join my family over the break. My father is rarely ever home during the break and I don't think my brother will be either. So it will just be my twin and me, plus the visit with my friend whose a hufflepuff like you."

"You, your twin, and your friend," she said, repeating who would all be there. She knew from first meeting him at Diagon Alley before the beginning of that school year that he had felt rather distanced with the twin of his. She could fully relate. So that really just let Henry, his friend, and her.
She didn't know how good this friend was but something told her that it was either a situation of like a best friend who he'd be palling around with or a situation like when Clifton visited or Rose and Eyre visited each other. Something told her that she'd probably be intruding. A third wheel in some sort of sense.
"No, I'll probably just..." she paused because the words weren't coming easy because she was so confused. "I'll probably just end up going home. It may be to an empty house but home is home, right?" Hardly. She hadn't even lived in Updown Court long enough for it to feel like 'home.'
"So who's the friend?" she decided to ask since she mostly declined his invitation anyway. It didn't hurt to explore what it was she had turned down. Plus, maybe she'd learn about some of Henry's closer friends.

Henry listened to Alina speak as he thought about his Christmas holiday, it was hard to plan for something a few months away but from previous years and even planning earlier in the year it was more than likely going to be Arthur, Annabeth, and him alone as usual and then on Christmas morning going over to Logan's house. Henry nodded toward her with a smile as he added " in possibly my older brother as well," Henry wasn't sure how close the two were but he hated the idea of Alina spending the Christmas holiday alone so he had to ask but chances were she probably had plans with others or elsewhere.
Henry nodded toward his reply with a small smile as he spoke " well if you ever change your mind," he figured that she probably wouldn't or come up with other plans with closer friends as he stated to fiddle with the ends of his jacket to control his anxiety. Henry listened to her next question and thought of it for a moment before looking in her eyes and saying " uh my best friend, her name is Logan Baird and she's a second year hufflepuff," he paused before thinking for a moment and continuing " we met first year and given some differences were really close and she's amazing. I'm more than glad that I bloody met her," before quickly changing topic as he spoke again " did you hear about the dueling club? Are you going to join? I'm uh, I'm on the slytherin team."

"I really want that," she said softly, thinking about how he said he was bloody glad he met his best friend, Logan. "Someone that you're really close with. Someone that can read you even before you open up your mouth to talk. Someone that just somehow knows how you're feeling and when you need someone there. I had that last year and this Summer with Clifton before he left. Clifton Troublefield. He was a Hufflepuff but he didn't come back to Hogwarts this year. There's been changes and things that went on and well, we can't talk or write anymore," she didn't mean for it to but her voice cracked a little because she was trying not to get emotional in talking about him.
Time to change the subject. Dueling Club. Good choice. "And yeah, I heard about that. I think I'm going to join. I've always been doing reckless things like running around the house too fast with my sister or climbing trees a little too high - taking risks. What's a little Dueling Club? Might be fun. I'm ...I'm okay at Charms, anyway. A friend of mine and I have worked on it outside of class last year and so I think I could take it a step further and try dueling. I just have to make sure I don't let myself get killed with my disorder and all. If I get a cut it bleeds - a lot. "

Henry listened to her talk about wanting a best friend and how she was close with someone; Clifton Troublefield who apparently was also a hufflepuff. Henry listened to her talk about him but a part of him couldn't help but think about Alexa, he thought that those two were best friends and close like that but he must have been wrong now hearing this.
" I'm sorry Alina, I didn't know him but he sounds someone who was special to you and I hope you guys can meet again someday. But meanwhile I hope that you find another who your close with," Henry spoke to the fellow second year with a small smile before pushing his hair back with hand and regretting saying anything.
Upon hearing their conversation move to dueling, Henry smiled a bit more as be listened to her talk about dueling club and why she join before how she mentioned bleeding a lot when she gets a cut allowing him to say " you should learn ferula then? I could teach you if like just a fair warning it's a third year charm so," Henry smiled a bit toward her before saying why he joined the club as he spoke " I joined because I always been good at spells I think and what better way to practice and learn more than dueling but I guess... but also because, I never knew my extended family so my family is a bit small since it's just my father, older brother, and twin. Dueling is something that no one did and everything else was taken already so I decided to write my own story in a way and sign up, I guess."
