She shrugged and gave it a bit of thought before she answered. "My father went to Hogwarts. He was in Slytherin. His parents were in Slytherin as were theirs. It was a bit of a shock to my system come last year when I was sorted into Hufflepuff. I thought it was all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows and I was furious. Turns out, it IS all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows...and I adore it," she smiled brightly.

"I have an identical twin sister named Bella. She too was sorted into Slytherin but Hogwarts wasn't her thing. She transferred this Summer to Beauxbatons so she's attending there. We're originally from France. Maybe it just feels more like home to her."
She knew her sister was happy there so far though so she was happy for her and would support her in her decision.

Alina loved Hogwarts though and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. While she had loved being home for the Summer months, she was also counting down the days where she could get back to school and see all her friends again. And apparently making new ones.

"Friendship isn't such a fragile thing for me, so hey, if you need a friend, I'm here," she assured him. She didn't understand why more people wouldn't want to be his friend but she didn't need to understand it. All she needed to know was that she wanted to be one.

The girl said that both her parents were in Slytherin. I could understand the shock she must have felt when she got sorted into Hufflepuff. I also heard her say that she had an identical twin named Bella who transferred to Beauxbatons. I could never stay in a school with only guys. My sanity would dissolve and I was at a constant 100% wedgie risk assuming Durmstrang had a high number of bullies like my old school. If their was anything worse than regular bullies, it was Russian bullies.
I smiled at her. I turned so I could lean my back against the wall and relax.
"Friendship isn't such a fragile thing for me, so hey, if you need a friend, I'm here" she said
"You seriously wanted to be my friend. Honestly I thought it was one of those one time things"
I said but realized that I was being rude. I didn't wanna upset her.
"Sorry, I'm not a people person like you"
I sighed and turned so that I could face her. I thought about my train ride. I actually needed friends that weren't crazy like Travis or a bad influence like Leo. She seemed like someone who had good behavior that could rub off on me.
"Thanks, Alina. You're nicer than I could have possibly imagined"
I finally thought of her and tried to make sure this wasn't forced
"I hope you're not doing this just cuz you feel sorry for me. Either way, I still wanna be your friends"

"Feel sorry for you? No. Not at all! I think you're fantastic," she smiled to him. "You're interesting to talk to and you're super tall," she said and tried to stretch up to even get remotely to his height but it wouldn't work. She was short statured and always had been. She felt rather foolish for trying to reach his height though and gave him a smile, bringing herself back down to regular height before she fell.

"And my sister Bella would say you're completely adorable too," although in saying that, it meant that Alina thought so too since the two twins had similar taste in boys. She didn't want to bring too much attention to that statement. "And you accepted a lemon drop. Some people turn their nose up at them. I can't imagine why. They're like a drop of goodness sent to us from heaven. A good pick me up if you ever need one."

"So, tell me, Logan, is there anywhere around here you'd like me to show you? The quidditch pitch? The Great Lake?" she didn't know where he had been yet in the castle. She wasn't a complete expert on the place but she knew her way around pretty well thanks to her map making endeavors.

I was glad that the girl wasn't sorry for me. I've fixed a lot of metaphorical broken birds and I was glad I wasn't one.
She said I was interesting to talk to and super tall. Alright, the interesting part I understand but super tall. I looked at her and noticed the height difference between us. She also said that her sister would say that I was adorable. I never say myself as tall or adorable. To me, I always felt scrawny and awkward.
She asked me if I wanted to go somewhere with her in the castle.
"Hmm, let's see"
I tried to recollected the places I've seen.
"The Quidditch Pitch"
I couldn't remember the conversation my brother and I had about the supposed greatest game ever.
"I hear Quidditch everywhere I go. I want to see why the games all hyped up"
I prepared to head off to the Quidditch pitch with Alina. I thought back to what she said about her sister.
"While we're heading there, what's your sister like?"
I remembered the twin mind reading thing and the evil twin thing and all other stereotypes I say on my TV.
"Is she like you or is she the exact opposite of you?"
"Any girl that thinks I'm cute must have really weird standards"
I said with a smile

Alina laughed at his last statement. "We're a lot a like and yet just within last year we grew apart a little. I love her dearly, I really do but..." she sighed. She didn't know how to say it without sounding like she was putting her sister down and that wasn't what she wanted. "I think being sorted into Hufflepuff helped me blossom. Helped me mature. She's still fixed on materialistic things - shopping, expensive items, having something just for the status of having something. She's very much into how she looks to other people by her appearance and what she does. She wants to be perceived as better, one of the higher."

And Alina didn't understand that. Certainly it was Slytherin or rather certain Slytherin friends that aided to such mindset but Alina was a people person. She loved getting to know people in their true self and love them for who they were. She loved encouraging them to be everything they wanted to be and loved their faults because they were obstacles to overcome.

"So other than that, we're a lot alike. We both like being out in nature. We both like swimming. We still get along really well. Sometimes I think Beauxbatons might have been a great choice for her. I think she'll find what she wants there without leaning more towards the things that were drawing her in negatively from Slytherin."
Alina hoped so anyway. She hoped for the best for her sister.

"Do you know much about quidditch?" she asked, changing the subject a little, but not for any reason but to keep the conversation going. He said he heard it everywhere he went like maybe he wasn't familiar with it. "My father was on the Slytherin house team when he was here at Hogwarts. He's got a trophy in the Trophy Room for sportsmanship. It's not the sport for me...I'm a little hesitatnt on a broom if you want the truth." Flying scared her a little. "He hasn't played since his school days but just over this past summer he acquired Puddlemere United."

"One thing is for sure. If she's anything like you, she must be awesome"
She told me how her sister had a materialistic mindset. This confused me as to how she was like Alina. Maybe the resemblance just ended at the physical. I decided that I wasn't gonna push any further. Apparently, this subject made her feel uncomfortable for some reason.
According to her, her dad was an awesome quidditch player but she however, not so much.
"Your dad sound awesome"
I felt a little strange to me, considering the fact that I don't have the slightest idea of what the hell quidditch was.
"I don't really understand quidditch.
I didn't know that there were wizard sports until my brother mentioned it when I was packing my trunk for Hogwarts.
"My big brother mentioned it once. He made it sound like rugby on steroids"
I found out two of the most effective ways to cloud ignorance was to either say something funny or change the subject in a subtle manner.
The entire concept of quidditch dumbfounded me. It was hard to imagine a game played over the ground and fall off your broom could either maim or kill you.
"Any game as dangerous as that seems totally awesome. I want a firsthand experience. We have a quidditch pitch right?"

She smiled at his compliment."We are a pretty awesome bunch," she said of her sister, herself, her father. She was glad to be part of the Rosier family. Even her father's girlfriend, her former governess, was someone she cherished, as was James and Margie, two of their hired help. They all made up a nice family unit.

"First hand experience? I can't do much for you, but I can try to explain the game. I've gone to quidditch games since I can remember and I'm rather excited that my father purchased a professional team. I'd say that means it's a given who I root for, but I already supported Puddlemere," she shrugged.

They headed along their way and she took hold of his hand to help guide him. "Maybe we can get a few other people around and try a mock game. I'm not very good...my father tried to teach me a few things this Summer but I'm sadly rather hopeless." She sighed. She had tried. She thought maybe she'd do alright but it was that whole broom thing. Still, she had tried it enough to know if she did ever play, she'd want to do chaser.

"I don't know what rugby is, but it can be quite dangerous. Maybe that's why I don't want to try playing it much or like flying in general - a fear of getting hurt." Especially her with her condition.

Sorry for replying so late.
"A mock game would be rather nice. I'll even be willing to read a book on quidditch if I get the chance"
If there was a game where you could hit people out of the sky on purpose, fly at dangerously fast speeds, and it was loved by all wizards, I was willing to try it out.
"Your family sounds nice"
Alina was one of the first people who had spoken to me at school, and her life seemed more intriguing the more I spoke to her. Just talking to her made me lose track of time. I soon realized that I was staring at her again. "Why the heck do I keep doing that!" I thought.
She said that she didn't like flying because she was afraid of getting hurt.
"Don't worry. Lots of people have fears"
I decided to open up and use myself as an example.
"Take me for example. I may seem like a quiet but fearless guy on the outside, but on the inside, I'm a marshmallow"
"Even I get scared. I'm afraid of clowns and girls and maybe the occasional lightning"
I probably should have kept my fear of girls to myself due to the fact that I'm literally talking to one. That must have meant I had unconsciously overcome my fear. I looked outside trying to figure out how long I was talking to her. It seemed like only a few minutes went by. Maybe it was hours in reality. I definitely hoped not.

She glanced over to him as he spoke and caught the way he was looking at her. It made her think of how a certain someone else sometimes looked at her but that couldn't be. Could it? Still, it made her feel warm and she smiled back to him.

"A lot of people are scared of clowns. You have to admit, there's something not right there. They're supposed to be amusing and for children but they hide behind a facade of face paint and annoying antics." That was perfectly understandable.

"And Marshmallow, you can't be scared of girls, silly. I'm a girl, as true as they come, and you didn't run off after I knocked into you. Unless, of course, you failed to notice that I'm one," and she gave him a bright smile before playfully flipping her hair over her shoulder.

"And I can't quite understand the lightning. I love a good storm. There's something about it that just seems to lead me to believe that nature is trying to talk to us." Maybe THAT was silly. She did love nature and how it could provide peace, how it could provide solitude, how it could provide food to eat and plants to heal. She hoped to become a healer someday.

"Me...I'm scared of disappointments. Making close relationships just to have them fall apart. I'm scared of my loved ones getting hurt, physically or emotionally. And you said my family seems nice but I'm scared of my grandmother. She lived with us until this Summer when my father threw her out of the house despite her being his own mother. Elle le mérite," she softly muttered the last part. She paused, realizing she said it in her native French and didn't think it was worth translating for him. It meant 'she deserved it.'

Elle le mérite?
I said, raising an eyebrow. It was a bit obvious that she didn't want to explain what the heck that was about so I decided to chain down my curiousity. Unfortunately, one piece slithered out of the restraints
"Why do you keep dragging the conversation back to your family?"
"It isn't wrong if it's true" I thought to myself
"I can easily read others emotions. I can tell you're carrying some extra baggage in your soul"
Maybe I went too far and broke her privacy bubble.
"Sorry about that"
I said, looking down at my feet. I let out a loud sigh.
"Here, I am judging your life when you don't even know as much about mine"
I looked back up but this time, to the window. I tried to avoid eye contact.
"Dead mom equals far away siblings and broken dad."
I looked up to the sky and realized that I should be going but it wouldn't hurt to talk some more.
"Everthing went down when my family crashed. I always wonder what would happen she wasn't a witch"
I sat up straight and turned to face her again. I let out a small chuckle.
"I wouldn't have known about magic, come to Hogwarts, stormed out of my room and maybe not have met you"
