Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
The Spectacular Spectacular tents are, indeed, spectacular. They're held in crimson red and bright gold, the exterior made of a shimmering, velvet-like fabric. Topped by a spinning golden windmill, there seems to be faint cabaret music playing on the wind. The heart-shaped archway with glowing lights invites you to step inside and explore.

The colour theme continues inside, crimson velvet and gold brocade, and is as lavish as could be. Tassels, fringes, and beadwork cover almost every inch of fabric, and thick velvet drapes cover the ceiling, surrounding a massive diamond chandelier that sparkles and reflects light everywhere, spinning slowly by itself. Feet sink into plush carpet with every step.

The opulence extends to the grand four poster canopy beds, draped in velvet, with intricately carved patterns on the frames and mattresses so soft you could sink into them. The nightstands hold small crystal lamps for light, casting sparkling lights onto nearby fabric.

Full length mirrors around the tent reflect more decadence: Fountains of alcohol-free champagne in different flavours next to trays set with tartlets and fruit to snack on. A grand piano invites the occupants to play, and is enchanted to take song requests if no one feels obliged to do so. Every night, just after sunset, a small firework goes off right under the central chandelier.

rookline woke up with a heavy knot in her stomach. She knew today was the day she had to leave for summer camp. She knew it. She had been packed for weeks. Everything stuffed inside her trunk, her satchel, and they didn’t have any regrets, any doubts. Although, the Welsh Ravenclaw had tons of regrets, and tons of doubts.

At this point, she didn’t know who her tent mates were. She at least hoped she knew them. Heaving herself out of bed, Brookline switched her night clothes, for something more suitable. Some Jean shorts and a dark navy blue off-the-shoulder blouse. Grabbing her trunk, her kitten’s crate, and satchel, she hauled her baggage downstairs, and by the front door, where the eldest of the Quinn sisters looked frantic, her dark blonde hair frazzled, and her dark green eyes shone nervously.

Brookline approached her quietly, and slowly, “Hey, Liz. Calm down.”

“I know, I know. But with you, Minnie, and Marie, off to camp. I could probably get some time off.” Lizy spoke in their family’s mother tongue, and flashed her younger sister a relieved half-smile, and carried on, barking orders, was what she did best. Brookline shook her head, set her items by the door. She needed Tigeress.

And right on timing, there was Tigeress, skidding her way to Brookline. Wrapping her arms around her beloved kitten, she whispered into Tigeress’ ear, as if the cat was a human she could speak with, “There you are, you silly kitty. Time to go, go with some food before we leave.” The girl found and opened a sliver tin full of wet, slimey, and most certainly stinky-like-fish, cat food. She did her best to not let any the food or the liquid on her fingers. She had gotten some on her fingers earlier in the summer, and she hadn’t been able to rid of the smell for weeks!! Dumping the cat food in her kitten’s bowl, Tigeress started squirming, so she let the kitten down, and Tigeress started inhaling her food.

Brookline glanced around for her mother, hoping that her mum around somewhere. Amy Quinn had been around for part of the summer, at the dining room table, at the island, in the lounge room, on her bed, somewhere in the house, her hair in a wild up-do, staring at printed documents, and sometimes scribbing at it. It was the papers that Amy might have custody of her kids, and the divorce files. Brookline always thought, At least she is out of her room. That makes the most of it.

Mrs. Quinn walked into the kitchen, already dressed in a dark-blue flowery romper, her hair already in a high ponytail, and there was crease noticeable across her cheer. She’s sleeping. Hard. That’s good sign, Brookline thought as her mum ventured over to her.

“Lizy’s taking you, correct?” Her mother asked, giving her a half hug.

“Yeah. How are you doing?”

“Better. I think this summer had really lifted a weight of my shoulders. I feel so much lighter now.”

Brookline searched her mother’s eyes for any sign of strain, regret, or depression. But all she saw was relief. She nodded, and managed to get out one word. “Great.” She bit her lip, and added, “Uhh... I better go eat.”
☪︎☪︎☪︎
An hour-and-a-half later, Brookline found herself glancing at the London Qudditch Stadium. She had been there more than once, and one of those times, was last summer, for summer camp. Baggage clutched tightly in her hands, the Ravenclaw decided to go straight to her assigned tent.

She heard Tigeress meowing, and Brookline patted the side of the small crate, squeezing through a huge crowd, the Welcome Feast. She hadn’t felt, like, at all, to talk or interact with anyone. She felt down and there was nothing she could about it. She was also really scared that she would hit someone with all her baggage, or causing someone to get angry with her, knock into someone, or loose her cat.

She felt more and more claustrophobic within each second she inside the crowd. Once she saw a opening, she forced her way through, and she was in the clear! Brookline breathed a huge sigh of relief. “Don’t worry, Tigeress. We’ll be at the tent in a bit. I promise you,” She whispered to her kitten, more or less to herself as well, her voice quiet.

A little bit later, Brookline had found her tent, and to her, it looked a little different than she was expecting. It was like one of those Muggle circus tents. Big, and red, golden, and certainly spectacular, hence the name. Once she stepped in, she felt her shoes sink right into the luxurious carpet. Brookline practically ran to one of the four poster beds, and set her baggage down. After letting Tigeress out, and desperately hoping that no one in her assigned tent was allergic to cats, she tore her shoes off, deciding to feel the plush, silky carpet.

There were chandeliers, mirrors, fountains, crystal lamps. Brookline was amazed. She and her tent mates were gonna have a fun time. She hoped her tent mates would get here soon.

It had been slightly weird to arrive as a muggleborn. But, thankfully, she was able to find the location of the magical stadium. It also required a decent conversation with her parents … they needed the explanation, as they couldn’t see this location due to them being muggles.

Stepping foot on the London Quidditch Stadium, Kaitlyn gently squeezed Devon’s hand. “I’m so happy that we’re in the same tent!” She exclaimed with a happy sigh. “Then again …” She looked into Devon’s green eyes and giggled. “… I feel like this is a continuation of us bunking together for a few days already.” She volunteered to have Devon stay at her home when the American girl arrived early. They certainly had fun staying together.

Walking with Devon, ocassionally giggling, Kaitlyn skipped to lead the way to their tent. Her sandals brushed against the ground in her movements, while her pigtail braids flew in the air. Her graceful movements were helpful when it came to navigating around the throngs of students from the welcoming feast and those gathered around and talking. The summer promised to be interesting. Considering that the friends would be staying together in the same tent only meant that they’d grow closer during their time together.

The young Slytherin could feel Demeter cuddling in her pocket. Kaitlyn gently stroked her pocket, giggling at the feeling of her bunny moving around. She didn’t like keeping her pet locked away or in her pocket for too long. But, she also didn’t want Demeter to get lost on her, especially in unfamiliar surroundings like this. Mist Hoppers were small creatures, after all! Was the area of the stadium their habitat? She had no idea.

After some searching, Kaitlyn found the tent in question, and it looked … exquisite! The tent looked like a circus tent, covered in red and gold! Like the announcers at said circus events, this tent looked appropriate for its name: Spectacular Spectacular. The outside shimmered, and the windmill on top spun. There were even lights on the archway that looked almost like … like a heart! She turned to Devon and giggled again. “We’re here,” she held the last syllable out for a few moments.

Beaming, Kaitlyn skipped through the archway and into the tent. Her blue eyes glowed at the sight of the four-poster beds. Before her eyes could eat in the surroundings of the tent, she spotted a familiar girl inside. “Hi, Brook!” She greeted the Ravenclaw with a bright smile. “I think it’s awesome that we get to share a tent!” Demeter wiggled slightly in her pocket, and she made a note to find a safe spot to place Demeter. Oh, and of course, feed her cute little bunny.

After having arrived early in Britain for the Werewolf Appreciation Night, Devon had thankfully stayed with Kaitlyn’s family for a few nights before the start of this Summer Camp. Naturally, she was oh so grateful for the opportunity. It helped her family’s nerves to know that their youngest daughter had a place to stay. That also meant that she didn’t need to find the London Quidditch Stadium by herself. Although, to be honest, she likely would’ve just followed the other Ilvermorny students upon arrival. Rather, she liked this way a million times better!

Devon’s green eyes flicked at Kaitlyn, and a giggle escaped her lips. “It’s like you read my thoughts! I’m excited about it, too! We should continue having fun together, especially as it’s the summer!” She beamed. Glancing at their clasped hands, she gently nudged Kaitlyn’s shoulder and laughed. This felt right, and she was so happy to be with her friend again. The fact that they were in the same tent was only an additional positive! Plus, they wouldn’t have to sneak out to see each other. Perfect!

As excited as she was to rush ahead to see where they’d be staying, Devon quietly let Kaitlyn lead them. After all, this whole region was unfamiliar territory to her. She glanced at the crate clutched in her hands. Ginger, her crup, lay asleep. ‘How she’s asleep through this chaos baffles me. Then again, I’d hate to have her barking the entire journey, too. I’ll have to give her a little extra at the next feeding time to reward her for her good behavior.’

Her surprise was even more acute, knowing that Ginger was still relatively new as a pet. Devon had visited a pet store in America when going school shopping. Her siblings all came for it. Although she went alone to peruse the pets. It required thought and a careful inspection! Cuddles were thrown around, and she talked to multiple pets. Yet, she went with her beautiful crup and she was very happy about it.

The walk was naturally chaotic, trying to dodge the other students. Plus, there was that welcoming feast. Undeterred, Devon pressed on. The crowd had to disperse eventually, right? Or at least thin out. Maybe. Then again, she wanted to make sure she didn’t topple into anyone. As her flying skills proved, she was prone to falling, much to her personal dismay.

Thankfully, it wasn’t too difficult to find the tent. Kaitlyn did a good job finding it in this crowd. Devon looked at Kaitlyn and giggled. “Goodness, we sound so similar!” She laughed. The tent looked so nice! Red and gold shimmering on the outside, along with that windmill on the top of the tent! Not the mention the arch! Heart-shaped and decked out in lights! It reminded her so much of a circus. So, so very spectacular!

Devon followed Kaitlyn into the tent. She glanced around at the bed and the other amenities the tent provided. A lush carpet, chandeliers, mirrors, fountains … and oh, crystal lamps! Everything looked like so much fun, she could barely hold in her happiness. She turned back to the girl Kaitlyn had greeted from before, unsure if now worked for introductions, or if she needed to wait. Erring on the side of waiting, she waved at the girl. “Hi! This looks so awesome!” She gushed.

Harvey had been in a poor mood since arriving at summer camp. Not that he wasn't excited for the festivities and the chance to interact with the international community, but those highs had dipped low when he found out about their accommodations. Tents! All the magic in the world and they would have to stay in tents like those damn muggle outdoor enthusiast groups! What were they called Pub Snouts or something ridiculous like that. At least when they stayed at Beauxbatons they had cabins. Still a bit too rustic for his liking, but it at least had walls! Harvey and his caretaker moved through the crowd and made their way. They could at least drop off his belongings and make way for the feast.

The boy's dread only increased when he saw the exterior of the assigned tent. A windmill, shimmering crimson fabric, an archway of glowing lights? Everything about the aesthetic told Harvey to hightail it and run! Whose whimsical fantasy was this? However, as he and Burok entered the tent Harvey's mood would shift. While the design was still not his cup of tea, he did enjoy the plush carpeting and fancy looking beds they would be sleeping in. The crystal decor hanging from the ceiling and adorning the bedside tables didn't hurt either. "Burok. Please leave my things by that bed and I'll take it from there." His goblin caretaker deposited his belongings with a snap of her fingers before popping out of sight with another snap.

"Hello everyone." He called out to the group. "Harvey Barrows." An introduction offered to those he did not know. "Oh, Brookline. Pleasure to see you. Thank you again for the invitation. Friends of yours?" Harvey gestured to those gathered. "Quite the accommodations they have for us. Very...colorful." His abnormally long index finger and thumb rub a bit of nearby fabric. At least it was high end...

Elisa ran a pale finger over the parchment, her skin brushing slightly against the letters and symbols traced in ink. It was a long list of supplies she had made for herself to prepare her trunk for summer camp. It was laying half open on a carpet in her room, its contents orderly arranged. An assortment of clothes, neatly folded, were placed on the left side, while the right side was occupied with a travel kit as well as a pair of extra shoes and sandals. Squeezed in the middle were some snacks - a couple of chocolate frogs and some sherbet lemons to share with everyone - as well as a full bag of owl treats for Mist the Owl in case mice weren't available.

Eyes darting back and forth from the parchment to her trunk, Elisa finally nodded as she reached the very end of the list. Three times of going through everything should prove enough.

The young girl locked her trunk and picked up the owl and its cage. She would have liked to levitate it down the stairs, but unfortunately for all underage wizards, magic was not allowed during the summer. Therefore, grunting slightly, she lifted her trunk and started down the stairs. She was met on the first floor by her father, with whom she exchanged a few lighthearted words. Then Mr Wagner took hold of his daughter's hand and with no more than a little swish, the two disappeared from their living room.

A couple hundred kilometres from the cozy house, the same two father and daughter appeared from thin air. After accompanying his daughter inside the London Quidditch Stadium and helping to register her, he left with another swish and disappeared into the morning sun.

Elisa, hauling her heavy trunk with one arm and balancing an owl cage with the other, travelled through the crowd of international students and arrived upon the area where the tents would be pitched. Spectacular spectacular... That was where she had been assigned.

She soon came upon what she was searching for - a majestic red tent that looked like it had been designed for a circus performance. Wrinkling her brows, she sized it up, unsure of what to think.

When she stepped inside and was immediately met with the feel of lush carpets under her feet and the sight of velvet practically covering every inch of the tent's surface, she had to replace 'circus' with 'royal bedroom'. She had never seen a room so red nor a tent so ornamented - and was gaping at the grand piano when she realised that the tent was already occupied.

Putting her trunk down and the owl cage on top of it, she surveyed the room's occupants. Much to her relief, two classmates of hers were present, as well as a lower year student she recognised from Hogwarts. The fourth person was a stranger to Elisa, though the girl seemed to be getting along quite well with Kaitlyn. From their conversation in English, Elisa could only assume this girl was from the American wizarding school, Ilvermorny.

The young girl smiled at her tent mates. "Good morning! It's a pleasure to meet you all." She stood there, wringing her hands, a grin plastered on her lips.

Another summer, another few weeks spent at the international summer camp that Ophelia was coming to adore. Though, it felt less like a summer camp and more like a pre-extension of school due to how late it was this year. Still, the whole theme of it all made her excited from the tip of her toes to the top of her head. A fair. A magical fair. All she could do was fantasize about carnival booths and games. But that was all in the days ahead. Today was her chance to get to know her tentmates.

Just like last year, seeing the tent that she'd been assigned to from the outside was enough to make her shiver with anticipation. It just screamed whimsy and wonder and magic. But not the kind that they learned at school in Hogwarts, the kind that was in the air on a fine autumn day or in the shine of the golden sun. It was all so very Ophelia, and oh was the Ravenclaw girl excited for it.

She'd packed considerably less this time around than the year last, perhaps realising that she didn't need most of the things she'd brought. But the things she'd packed for school were in a different trunk, locked and ready for when her first semester as a third year began. Wow, a third year already, time is flying by so fast, isn't it?

Ophelia entered the tent to find her anxiety flare up almost instantly. There seemed to be so many people in the tent already. Was she late? Had she packed too much? What did they all think of her? She plastered on a quick cover up of a smile before resorting to take deep breaths. This seemed to always happen to her, the worry of other people's thoughts and feelings about her hitting her too fast and all at once. She just needed to calm down a bit and... there, she was better now. She could think.

Ophelia looked around the room, her eyes scanning everyone for a familiar face or two. Last year, she'd been lucky to have been assigned to a tent with her best friend @Quinn Brook. Quinn had been the only one she'd really known in the tent, but she'd felt okay knowing that she was there. But this time, though Quinn wasn't in the tent, there seemed to be a few others that she'd at least spoken to, if not known extremely well.

Her dorm buddy Brookline was there, who she waved at. Then there was Kaitlyn, who she'd seen around the Hogwarts castle on more than just a few occasions. It seemed that they had multiple mutual friends, and maybe this time spent at their tent together would allow them to become quick friends too. And Elisa, they'd met at least once that Ophelia could remember. At the latter two, the Ravenclaw girl flashed a more genuine smile. But the rest of the people in the tent, they weren't even semi familiar faces.

The girl next to Kaitlyn and the boy. And there were surely more members to their tent. But for now, Ophelia felt comfortable enough.

"Hello, hello! Ophelia Northwell. It's nice to meet those of you that I haven't seen before."

Ophelia spied little Tigeress near Brookline and grinned. There was Dove's best friend, right there. She turned to her things and found Dove on the edge of her carrier, her eyes focused on her friend. Laughing a little, the Ravenclaw took her kitty out of the carrier, and let her on the floor. There, now she could go bounding off to her friend.

┌─────────────────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───────────────────────┐

Aurélie was quite ready for summer camp this year. Oh, she missed her home so very much during her time at Beauxbatons, she really did. She missed the winding hallways of her parents and grandparents' houses, both of which felt like a home to her, and their loving words spoken in comforting tones. But even still, there was only so much of their ever present doting that the girl could handle before she truly needed a break. And summer camp was that break.

Augustin, who'd been some parts forced by Élodie, some parts excited to drop his daughter off, helped her with checking in and registration, as he'd done the year before. When it was all done and taken care of, he pulled her to the side for a "quick" goodbye that was not as quick as Aurélie would've liked. One long hug, a kiss on the forehead, two pats on the shoulder, and a whispered, "Goodbye, my dear. Enjoy yourself, and be careful." In return, the French girl had kissed his cheek and waved before taking her trunks and setting off into her summer camp sanctuary. Finally, she was away from all of the No, Aurélie, Don't do it, Aurélie, Stop it, Aurélie that she'd been surrounded with.

"Now where is this tent of mine?" She murmured to herself, looking down at her welcome packet and then back up at her surroundings. In all honesty, it wasn't quite hard to locate after that. Bright red and screaming excitement, the tent was everything Aurélie could've wished for, and the inside was nothing less than spectacular. Everything was simply luxurious, from the plush carpeting to the chandelier light fixtures, not to mention the working fountains.

She found herself to be one of the last of her tentmates to arrive. Not the last, as there were only seven of them there out of the eight they needed. Six girls and one boy, inclusive of herself. None of them were familiar, though she may have spotted one or two of them at a ball at some point? Maybe? It was hard to tell, there were just so many people at those things. She grinned at them all nonetheless, bright and cheery.

"Aurélie Nathalie Duval, Beauxbatons. But I go by just Aurélie. A pleasure to meet all of you!"

𝓟eter Smith was extremely late. He was seriously thinking of literally bailing on summer camp, but there was people he wanted to see. Like Aurélie and Brookline. And he had his Quidditch game. On the other hand, he hadn’t gotten his new pet nor his baggage out of the darn house.

His half-crup entered the kitchen, toddling in, with a slipper trailing halfway out of her jaws. Carmel saw Peter, and raced out of the room. He sighed, and took a step to chase after the puppy, but decided against it.

“Oh Carmel. Please don’t eat that. Marietta, put that back!”

Marietta froze and the cheeky grin disappeared immediately. The chocolate in her hands was a dead giveaway. She shuffled the candy bar back where it was and her voice was up a notch as she fibbed, “Uh whaaaattttt??! No... I didn’t steal anything.”

“Okay, missy, ya did, though. Saw you with my own two eyes.”

“Nuh-uh. Did not.”

Peter smiled and gave his sister a playful punch on her arm. “Yeah. Okay. I don’t have time to finish this argument.”

“This is no fair!! I wanna go to summer camp. Minnie and Marie get to go!”

The Beauxbâtons boy sighed. “That’s because the twins are older than you and will be first years, this coming school year.”

Marietta crossed her arms and pouted. “It’s still not fair!”

Peter shrugged and turned to his aunt. “Aunt Cherry, are we Flooing to Lon - wait. Never mind.”

Carmel trotted in with the slipper again, and Peter grumbled. He chased the pup around the room, the pup dodging again, and evading every single time Peter stretched his hands out.

Carmal!! Peter exclaimed, his voice tired but loud. He stopped, sucked a heavy breath in, and raced over to the smirking puppy, and wrapped his hands around Carmel’s middle. The Beauxbâtons beater picked his pup up, and turned to his father who sitting at the kitchen table. “You’re taking me, right? Dad?”

“Uh yeah? Oh wait! Peter, we have to leave now. Grab the Floo powder and your broom. We can’t use it at your Aunt Cherry’s house.”

“Okay. Lemme get my stuff and say goodbye first.”

Peter turned to Cherry and Marietta. He first gave Marietta a hug and then Aunt Cherry. “Bye! I’ll see you at Christmas!!” He grabbed his trunk and Enchanted Backpack with his free hand, following his dad out of the kitchen. Grabbing his broom and the powder, he exited the house, shutting the door behind him.

He found the little dog crate on the porch, which his mother had bought for him, when she learned her son had adopted a dog. Peter unlocked the door, and pushed Carmel inside.

“If you’re quiet, you might get a treat, Miss Carmel...” Peter smiled, bribing his pet.

“You ready, son?” Brayden Smith hopped on his broom after he took Peter’s trunk.

“Yeah.”
***
Peter coasted into the London Quidditch Stadium, with his father following him, and Carmel in a crate, he waited as his father signed him in. He looked like he was one of the last ones trickling in.

He wondered which tent he was in this time. Peter hoped it was with people he actually knew. As he glanced around, he thought, What happened if I can’t find my tent? Or what happens when I walk into a tent, and it’s nor mine? Fortunately, he was a guy, and didn’t necessarily hated talking as other people hated talking. He learned that some girls were anxious and very anti-social.

When Peter found his tent, he entered it, and marveled at the spectacular in it. Honestly it was kinda amazing. He smiled and realized everyone was introducing themselves. He gazed around for anyone he knew, and saw Aurélie and Brookline. The boy wanted to say hi to them, but it seemed as though today was probably not the day.

The Beauxbâtons boy fiddled with the lock on Carmel’s cage, but he wasn’t sure if he wasn’t ready to unlock and let his pup out. A sliver tabby had raced over to Brookline’s tabby Tigeress, and he wasn’t sure how Carmel would act around cats. Merlin, he wasn’t sure how the cats would react.

Peter smiled at his new tentmates, and waved from the entrance of the tent. “Hello! I’m Peter Smith, and it’s nice to meet you all.”

warning: voices and brookline saying she hates herself is regular! all of brookie’s thoughts are her own <3
rookline’s thoughts were tangled up with one another, wrestling, and it honestly felt like in hurricane in her mind. She jumped when she heard two soft feminine voices outside the tent. She glanced up from her spot on her bunk, and saw Kaitlyn, a close friend of hers, and a unfamiliar girl.

“Kaitlyn, hey! How’s you?” The Welsh girl would give her Slytherin friend a hug, if Kaitlyn would let her. Brookline turned to the blonde, and painted a fake smile upon her face, holding her hand to shake, “Brookline Quinn, it’s nice to meet you. I go to Hogwarts, like Kaitlyn. You’re Kaitlyn’s friend, right?”

Then the small first year (now second year) boy Brookline had met in second year entered the tent. There was a goblin with him, and she assumed the non-human was Harvey’s goblin counterpart or a guardian. “Hello Harvey! Yes. Kaitlyn is a good friend and any friend of hers is a friend of mine.” She nodded, and agreed to the part-goblin’s last statement, “Mmm-hmm. Quite the bold red and gold.” Brookline’s first thought was to be amazed by the tent, but now she was having several second thoughts about the colors. For once in her life, couldn’t there be black somewhere!??

Soon after Harvey’s arrival, a brunette walked in with an owl cage. “Elisa!” Another Hogwarts girl. Not that Brookline was complaining. She loved it when there was people she knew. The Ravenclaw girl raced over to Elisa, and gave her a little squeeze. “How was your summer?!” Of course she knew when asking the ‘how are you’ questions, she knew they would repeat the question over to her and she would have to lie. But that was okay. She wanted to know about other people’s summers. To let a little crack of happiness in her life. To know how others were doing. She just didn’t want others to know about her demons and shadows, her discomforts and horrible days. So... she would fib. A lot. All the time, really.

Brookline brightened, and her lips would turn up in a small real smile. She had just seen Ophelia enter and her blue eyes was searching the room, most likely looking for a friend. That is what the Welsh girl would have done if she wasn’t the first one to enter. The first one to arrival was always the greeter. She almost regretted to arrive first.

She had just seen Ophelia waved at her. Brookline waved back and practically bounced over to her dorm buddy. “Hello Ophelia! Was your summer as amazing as you?” She chirped, half of her excitement was forced, half of it genuine. She literally flung herself on her fellow Ravenclaw, a version of a Past Brookline hug. Brookline let go a second later, and babbled, “Oh my goodness!! Did you bring Dove?!”

Now, there was the Old Brookline, the one that we all remember and love. Of course we still love this Brookline, but at least we know that Old Happy Brookline was still there. In glimpses. In slivers. In small cracks. Just then, another person entered the tent. Another girl with soft brown hair. Oof, the numbers of girls versus Harvey. I wonder who the last person would be. And when the girl introduced herself, her accent was a beautiful French lilt. Before the girl could even mention her school, Brookline already knew that the girl went to Beauxbâtons. “I’ll be back, Ophelia!” Brookline called to the Ravenclaw and ventured to the girl who just entered. She plastered a emotional-less smile, and introduced herself. “Hi, Aurélie! I’m Brookline. Brookline Quinn. Nice to meet you!” She stuck out a hand to shake just as she did with Kaitlyn’s friend.

Brookline would see Ophelia unlock her kitten’s cage, and once Dove was let out of the cage, she saw her own kitten race over to her best friend with the speed of her namesake, purring her heart out. Brookline loved that Tigeress made such a great friend in second year, she was quite glad that both Dove and Tigeress escaped on the third day of second year.

Her eyes trailed from the kittens to the entrance of the tent, and Brookline walked to her bunk. Now she wondered strongly who was the last person to arrival and when would they?

Then, just then, a boy who looked vaguely familiar walked inside the tent, considering the room, and he seemed to wonder what to do. He turned his face to Brookline’s direction, and Brookline knew who the boy was as soon as she saw his deep emerald green eyes.

Her best friend, Peter! She remembered when he came to visit in early July, and all of it was a blur. She had blew up and been crying, she remembered he was trying to help her, and she remembered that he wanted to know what had happened, that she closed herself off, and wouldn’t talk. And it all was just a mess. She hated it. She hated herself, for it, everything was a stupid mess, and she hated everyone who caused. It just seemed that everything was stupid, and she hated it. Brookline wanted to go up to Peter and ask him how he was, ask him everything and when did he get a pet? But she stayed put. What would happen if she did?

Heck, Brookline didn’t even know if Peter even thought her as a best friend, anymore. It was all so stupid and annoying. She hated that she acted like everything was fine when obviously everything wasn’t. Her father, her family and her best friends and how she left everything a mess, those shadows, those demons, those darn voices.

At the mentions of voices, whispers crawled into her ears, and made her flinch.

Everything wasn’t fine!!

You hate yourself, and everyone who tries to help you.

Just so you know, your father hates you too.

Voices taunted her as Brookline’s thoughts become even more messier, and the tears burned at her eyes. She narrowed her eyes, though, no way she ever going to cry in front of everyone.

The Welsh girl wanted to fix everything, wishing the universe would just right itself.

But she didn’t know how to fix it. Let alone how to fix herself...

While she would have loved to prepare Devon for what was about to come, Kaitlyn succumbed to just giving her a look for now. There’d be plenty of time to talk at some point!

Beaming at Brook, Kaitlyn returned the hug. “Everything’s well with me, it’s been an interesting summer so far, though. How have you been? I’m glad we get to share a tent like this,” she said, a genuine happiness in her voice. As she expressed at Brook’s last birthday celebration, she wanted to be there for the Ravenclaw girl. Whether that would pan out here at the Summer camp, she had no idea.

A boy, a younger student she thought she had seen around Hogwarts, with a goblin, came into the tent. The goblin quickly left after moving the boy’s belongings, before the boy greeted Brook. Kaitlyn smiled at him and held out her hand at the first opportunity she had. “Hi, I’m Kaitlyn Connor. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Harvey,” She greeted him. “And, I agree, this tent is very colorful,” she chuckled. It wasn’t like that was a bad thing, at least in her opinion.

The next person to come into the tent was also very familiar to her. Kaitlyn beamed, offering Elisa a hug if she wanted it. “Hi, Elisa! Good morning! It’s a pleasure to share a tent with you!” She was her normal cheerful self … despite her shyness, of course. She wanted to get along with the other students she was sharing the tent with. While she was uncomfortable with talking a lot, it was a small price to pay to help make the summer enjoyable.

Another familiar face entered the tent. This time, another Ravenclaw girl from her year that she saw a few times around Hogwarts. Kaitlyn smiled, also offering a hug to Ophelia if she wanted it. “Hi, Ophelia! It’s great to share a tent with you!” She was happy to see so many people she already knew! Hopefully, that knowledge would help with her shyness.

The continuous entrances of people that she knew ended, as a girl entered the tent that she didn’t know. Had Kaitlyn potentially seen her from a ball in the past? Perhaps. But she knew that she had never spoken to this girl. Nevertheless, she chose to be friendly back. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Aurélie. I’m Kaitlyn Connor.” She responded, offering her hand.

And then for the last person in their tent. This time, a boy, another person whom she hadn’t met before. Kaitlyn smiled at him, as well. “Hi Peter! It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Kaitlyn Connor.” She greeted him, offering her hand for a shake.

It appeared this was it for everyone in their tent. A wide variety, but hopefully they’d have a good time together! Carefully, she pulled her small bunny, Demeter, from her pocket, placing her on the ground. “This is my bunny, Demeter,” she added. Sniffing around, Demeter tentatively hopped toward the other pets.
