DESCRIPTION OF CLUB

SUMMARY:

Reducio

This is the only cooking club at Hogwarts that teaches students 'mise-en-place', cleanliness, and how to cook and bake delicious dishes while being mindful of safety at the same time. You can be new to cooking and baking, have some experience or be a veteran at it, all levels are welcome. Once every 3 months, members are given a chance to show off one of the dishes they've learned over the past 3 meetings (if they have at least 3 dishes under their name) at the Great Hall. There they will be judged by their peers, teachers and staff at Hogwarts through a poll and a random number given to you by Tatsu. The winner will receive a TCC trophy and 3 chocolate frogs.

Members learn how to cook or bake a specific type of dish, depending upon the theme of the meeting. At the end of the meeting, members will sample the dish and give their impressions of all of them. This is to help everyone grow and become better at cooking or baking. Once you have attended at least 3 meetings and have at least 3 dishes under your name, you are eligible to participate in the 3 month TCC competition located in the Great Hall. You must have at least 3 different dishes listed under your name to participate.

Rule 1:
If you do not post in 3 meetings straight (which is 3 OOC and IC months) you will be removed from the club. You can always rejoin!

Rule 2:
You must have an interest in learning how to cook, become better at cooking, or just like to make food and see others enjoy your creations. If you don't like cooking, baking or food, what are you doing here? This is a cooking club, love of food is a must.

Rule 3:
Don't cause OOC trouble and follow the rules of the site. But IC drama can be allowed if you PM or DM me on discord discussing what it is you might want to do.

HOW TO ADD A DISH TO YOUR NAME

SUMMARY:

Reducio

To qualify for the 3 month competitions, you must have at least 3 different dishes you can make under your name. You can see what dishes you have on this page. At the start of the meeting you are given a random number from 1-20. To obtain dishes there are 2 requirements. First, you must post at least 2 times during a meeting (one time for your arrival and one time for making your dish). You should preferably post more but it's fine if you don't have time to do so. Second, when you make your dish you must make use of 4 particular spells. Fire-Making Spell, Extinguishing Spell, Levitation Charm and Green Sparks Charm. All of the above are first year spells, so you should know all of them. When making your dish, you must use the Fire-Making Spell to start the fire. Then, you will cook the dish you want to make. When you are done, you must use the Extinguishing Spell to turn the fire off. Next, you must use the Levitation Charm to pick up your dish and move it over to the judging station. And last, you must cast the Green Sparks Charm to signal you are done and ready to have the dish be judged by the rest of the club. Please IC write this all out but do not say whether you were successful in casting these spells or not. That will be done in the 'mod post' when Kim judges your dish.

Your dish is given a starting rank of 50 points. For those who successfully cast all 4 spells on their first try, they are given 40 points. Each successful spell is worth 10 points. Remember the random number you were given at the start of the meeting? That number will be added to your current points. If you got the full amount of points from the dish (which all members do) and the 4 spells cast, you should have 90 total points. This means all you need to place the dish under your name from your random number is 10. If you drop your dish while doing the Levitation Spell, you do not get points deducted. It just means you won't receive IC feedback from the others about what you can do to improve your dish later.

If you get a total score of 100+ it means the dish is added under your name.

Hjordis Jensen is our adviser and will be sitting in the background reading a book to ensure nothing goes wrong during our meetings. We will be meeting inside an open classroom, or out on the Campgrounds, until access to the Kitchens opens up for us all.
