As expected, Ara was targeted again. Fortunately, she dodged a spell from McCarty as she saw Nade search for her wand. Even though Evethisawe's spell missed it's target, Leveret's spell hit dead-on. Ara sighed, 'Can't they pick another target? I'm getting quite used to this.' she thought.

She stood up straight and smirked.

Somehow, a whole bunch of nothing was enough to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats. The lions were clearly in a weaker position compared to the snakes, but there was some kind of understanding amongst those watching from the stands – it’s not over until it’s over.

Wide eyes and the soft hum of shocked chatter overtook the watchers as Avery and Siobhan faced each other. Avery’s dominance in accuracy would stall, allowing Siobhan to easily step out of the way of another one of his gusts of wind. However, his superior dodging skills would assist him in mimicking Siobhan’s movement as he evaded her jet of flames, though it wasn’t nearly as effortless. Loud cheers erupted at both moves, but Jessamine just pursed her lips in boredom and looked to the others for something more interesting.

While the two of them were locked on each other, Mahlioz and Ara would finish the Sere job. After several misses, Mahlioz would finally succeed at hitting her target, knocking her in the chest just as she tried to duck out of the way of Ara’s Incendio which almost went wide. Unfortunately, the heat did catch Sere on her shoulder. Woozy from the double hit, Sere wouldn’t give up. Dark smoke would leave the tip of her wand, spilling to the floor and blocking the sights of herself, Avery, Ara, and her own teammate, Siobhan. Mahlioz was the only one with clear vision now, but four duellists would hear a thump as Sere succumbed to her injuries.

“Stop!” Jesssamine sunk to her knees in an attempt to peer through the smoke, but could only make out the silhouettes of the mediwizards as they removed Sere from the stage. Looking up, the eagle would meet the only pair of eyes not obscured by smoke – Mahlioz’s. “Please keep that up. I almost fell asleep for a second.” She stood up again, stretching as if to emphasize her point. “Alright!” she raised her voice so everyone, from the duellists to the crowd, could hear her, “Continue!”

Siobhan balked as the Fumos impeded her vision. She covered her mouth with her jacket sleeve as she crouched into the smoke to hide from her opponents. As far as she could tell, everyone had been affected but she wasn't one hundred percent sure. It wasn't until she heard something fall, and Jessamine call for a time out that she knew she was safe for the moment. However she didn't like her chances. It was just her now and she only had a few spells in her arsenal to combat her opponents. She continued to crouch as she tried to mull over every possible scenario in which she didn't end up in the hospital wing along with her opponents.

She pressed her hands to her nose as she tried to think- What was she going to do? Especially since she seemed to be completely stuck in this smoke with no way to remove it...

Though Ara was quite confident that her spell hit, she wasn't sure if Nade was out or not. Smoke blocked her vision as she tried to fan it away from her. The uncertainty still lingered until she heard the duel's moderator say to stop. That's when she knew that Nade was probably out. Ara knew that the smoke came from the work of Nade. 'Psh, won't come down without a fight hm?' she thought, 'This smoke is annoying though'. The young Slytherin squinted only to see a few barely visible silhouettes.

Finally, was the first thing that echoed through Mahlioz's mind... followed by What the heck? Because smoke had begun leaving her target's wand, even as she fell to the ground, unconscious. Well, at least Mahlioz and Villa had finally gotten Nade down. And honestly, the Slytherin could still see perfectly fine. Though by the way their teammates and McCarty were squinting, they were the only one.

Except for the moderator. Who was being ever so slightly sassy. Mahlioz couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Hey, we're trying," she pointed out, before turning her focus back to the game. They were the only one who could see, now - they had to make it worth it.

Avery had seen the look in her eyes, the thoughT displayed there for him to read and take, to alter his own strategy. The precious time he usually used for perfecting his hits, he had to forgo, and commit to pre-emptively preparing to side-on the blast, allowing it to sail past with little more effort than was necessary. The flames licked him, an inch from scorching his precious cashmere slytherin sweater. In reply, he could only send her his wolfish grin. She was alone in the pit, her time; running out. wc: 115

Ara critically succeeds at casting Flipendo but Siobhan evades.

The lion cub was theirs for the taking. The only obstacle that stood in their way was the smoke conjured by Siobhan’s ally, but that too was easily taken care of. Avery needed only a single look at the effects of Sere’s spell before he decided to get rid of it. A strong breeze swept the stage, possibly striking fear in the hearts of Siobhan, Mahlioz, and Ara. Had someone targeted one of them with a Wind Jinx? No. Instead, the smoke dissipated, giving the blinded duellists some reprieve.

Mahlioz and Ara had one job and it was to make sure Siobhan was beaten down. Luckily for them, the lion aimed her wand too, so they wouldn’t have to deal with her spry feet. Jessamine watched as both snakes produced some of the most brilliant spells she had ever seen. The fire appearing at the tip of Mahlioz’s wand burned bright, and Jessamine could literally see the force of Ara’s Knockback Jinx moving across the stage.

Such a waste, the Ravenclaw would moan in a second, as the remnants of the swirling smoke still obscured Ara’s vision. The lion would easily move out of the way of the spell. Mahlioz jet of flames found a new target entirely, but the other lions had already met their doom. The fire almost caught their own teammate, Avery, though the snake seemed prepared for that outcome. He watched the orange blast shoot by him, unaffected.

It would have been a fantastic round for Siobhan if her own cast went properly. Of course, it didn’t. The lion aimed a Knockback Jinx at Avery, but the force of the spell went in the direction opposite from what she intended. She took a hard knock to the chest, but remained upright.

Siobhan barely winced as the Flipendo attempted to knock her off her balance. She wobbled slightly but her naturally tall stature brought her back to her center quickly. She couldn’t afford to let her team or her house down by being hit by such a bigger spell. She needed to focus-

Thankfully, that one snake had sent a gust of Wind her way and cleared the smokescreen from the stage- This would help monumentally as she prepared to send her next round of feeble magic. She racked her brain trying to figure out exactly what she could send and who it would be sent at.

She refused to be a disappoinment to her house because she made the wrong choice in opponent. Her now stone-cold grey eyes callously looked across the opponents, trying to size them up and see who would be best to attempt to get the upper hand over…

What on earth had that been? How had Mahlioz managed such a magnificent, blindingly bright and shockingly hot incendio, only to have it veer so badly from her target? This was ridiculous. It nearly burned Leveret instead, though he thankfully got out of its way in time. Mahlioz felt like cursing. What a waste of such a good spell!

And they weren't even the only one - Villa's spell was also beautiful, and also missed, though not as badly as Mahlioz's. All this was unfortunate. But Leveret had lifted the smoke, so everyone else could see again. Perhaps they could go out with a bang.

Or, y'know, as usual, nothing would really happen and everyone would miss. But a kid could hope.
