Winnie's challenge was met with a furrowed brow. If she wanted a race, she could get one! He leaned sharply forward on his broom, letting the wind roar past him as he cut through the air. Of course, the Ravenclaw chaser was no slouch and ultimately it seemed that neither could really gain the upper hand. Maybe she completed the lap a fraction of a second sooner, but who was watching anyway? The important things were taking place far higher up in the sky. With a grimace, Finnegan noted that there were fewer and fewer red dots remaining, and the scoreboard displayed a disgusting lead for the birds. At least the dash of red and gold moving at breakneck speed high up above him told him that Elsian had seen something. There still was hope, however small, and he was determined to do his part in improving their chances, no matter how high the odds were stacked against them.

Haley's thoughts were fully back in the game, but this concentration would soon evaporate again. While she followed the lions' strategy, the Ravenclaws had other plans for her. But this turn of events came quite unexpectedly and the sharp pain from the bludger made her feel the harsh reality. One moment she could feel the pain and the next she lost her grip on her broom. She was in free fall and her eyes searched in panic for a strand of hope, which, luckily for her, was actually on its way to her with speed. Her teammate Lithaen saved her from hitting the ground and, breathing quickly, she landed on the broom with it, holding on to her shoulders and her heart slipped into the ground. “Thanks for the save!” she said with relief and patted her on the shoulder. But now it was time to put the shock behind her and keep going.

The shimmer of sunlight hitting gold just right nearly blinded his left eye as he turned his head. It was so laughably close, just shy of arms length and had briefly blinded him with how stupidly shiny it was hovering in the air like a hummingbird-

The snitch.

“No way-” he breathed, green eyes widening at the ridiculous luck of it all. Elsian almost risked a glance at the other seeker, but no-

There was no time to waste.

He flew after it in a blur of gold and red, throwing an arm out, fingers straining to reach that golden blur that was there!

It was light work once again as Cecily easily sunk five more goals, expanding their neat little lead on the scoreboard. The match seemed to be in capable Ravenclaw hands elsewhere on the pitch, but as she spotted the Gryffindor Seeker making a determined beeline in a seemingly random direction, the possibility of a loss struck Cecily suddenly, and it seemed all too real. With a slowly sinking heart kept barely afloat, she turned back towards the center of the pitch, regrouped her thoughts, and sped back into the fray.

Cheat moves in quidditch were so much more fun for Lavinia because they added an additional layer of risk. Not only would she miss out on her move if she failed, but she could have to take a penalty lap as well. However, unluckily for Gryffindor, Lavinia didn’t fail and didn’t get spotted this time as she blatched her friend Haley. It was easy and quick, but unfortunately Haley was caught on her way down and Lavinia was stuck with the dilemma of what to do next. Maybe she would go for the quaffle, but today was Cecily’s moment to shine and Lavinia didn’t want to take that away from her. Overall, this game seemed to be going in the right direction for Lavinia so far as she flew around with a smile on her face.

There was a great crack as Odi swung his bat at the bludger and sent it hurtling through the air towards Jorah Moussa, his eyes blazing with unbridled sadism.

He let out a confident laugh as his bludger hit Jorah in the shoulder, making the Ravenclaw wince in pain. The hit sending a rush of adrenaline through Odi, and his eyes scanned the pitch for another bludger. He caught sight of the object just as Jorah sent it spinning towards his head and turned the whole world pitch black.

Odi blinked his eyes open, trying to ignore the aching pain in his temple. He could only squint against the rushing winds as he made out the ground hurtling closer and closer each moment. "Aw man..." He murmured faintly before drifting out of consciousness once more.

Broom: Nimbus 1500
Broom effect: In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

Effect:
Each round there is a 10% chance that an opponent in a duel or a moderated situation will decide to ally with the Part-Veela even against their own allies and attempt to protect them.
Broken Broomshaft
Effect: In Quidditch, on a full hit with a bludger, if the user is knocked off their broom there is a 25% chance that the broom is shattered as well. If the broom is shattered, the opponent will not be able to use the broom for the duration of the match (they do not loose their broom permanently, they would repair it off-screen later). If they are caught by an ally, they would have no broom to return to and would have to ride with an ally or remain on the ground for the duration of the game.

Debuff Fouls

'Cheating birds' wasn't a saying, but maybe it should have been. It wasn't just Lavinia now, but Aly and Winnie joined the cheating fray by converging upon Elsian Cox. Once, twice... In a flurry of angry, sharp elbows, Elsian would remain unaware of his attackers, but he would be very, VERY disoriented. He had still seen the Snitch... but would the cobbing have driven him off course?

The Quaffle

Finally, more people would join the fray for the Quaffle. Ravenclaw seemed to want to keep the spotlight on the soon-to-graduate Cecily Quinn, for although Lavinia grabbed the Quaffle initially, she passed it to Cecily, who was easily able to score 10 points through Gryffindor's unguarded hoops.

'Ten points to Ravenclaw!'

Once again, Lavinia's impressive accuracy would amaze the crowds as she made an insanely precise grab before passing to Cecily and letting her teammate score.

'Ten points to Ravenclaw!'

The Ravenclaws wouldn't give up their winning Quaffle streak. With impressive speed and precision, Cecily darted forward, and, grabbing the Quaffle, sped across the pitch and scored swiftly.

'Ten points to Ravenclaw!'

Underclassman Finnegan Connor must have been inspired, or perhaps in need of revenge, because when his fingers found the Quaffle next, he shot across the pitch with the speed of a bullet, and he scored not once but twice!

'Whoa! Twenty points to Gryffindor!'

That wasn't all. Lavinia grabbed the Quaffle again and passed it to Cecily, who made sure Gryffindor did not have the last word – or, well, goal.

'Ten points to Ravenclaw!'

The Snitch

Elsian blasted after the Snitch, going as fast as his broom would let him, but the elbowing from earlier had... disoriented him. Quite a bit, in fact. He flew way off course, or maybe he lost track of the Snitch for just a moment, a crucial moment... He dove in a spiral fashion that would be familiar to many veteran seekers, and he outstretched his hand, but despite this helpful manoeuvre, he was unable to grasp the Snitch.

Aly seemed to have given up on searching for the time being.

The Bludgers

Ebony Vetra was neither beating nor defending now, instead scouring the pitch for falling allies. This left all the fun to Jorah, who would surely be glad. He sent a bludger at Haley and Lithaen, who were hit hard – so hard their broom snapped into multiple pieces! A collective gasp would emanate from the stands.

He sent the ricochet towards Finnegan Connor, and while it hit the boy hard, he stayed on his broom, likely shaken from the impact.

A rogue bludger targeted Elsian Cox, but the Seeker, despite his disorientation, managed to evade!

Ophelia smiled at Quinn once more. She explained that she was a benched chaser. Ophelia remembered their train ride together. Quinn had been the one to explain the rules of Quidditch to her, and it was only because of the other Ravenclaw that she understood the different positions.

"Do you think we're going to win?" Ophelia asked. So far, her house was doing pretty well, but their track record said otherwise. She wondered what Quinn's opinions were.

<broom effects> in the role of Seeker you when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, you get three rolls instead of 2, with the second-lowest roll being used instead of the lowest. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.

Sure, Aly had practiced playing Seeker more than much of anything else over the past few weeks. She’d even purchased a Snitch of her own, one she could release in the Ravenclaw girls’ dormitories when no one else was around or awake, nabbing it out of midair as quickly and athletically as she could. She wanted so badly to be the star that Ravenclaw had once had. A Seeker who could win things for her beloved teammates who worked so, so hard at this.

But she had also worked hard at something else recently: cheating. Last summer and for the months at home before, the curly-haired teenager had spent her time locked in the tower researching Quidditch fouls, among other things, and had become quite knowledgeable at the bevy of things you could do illegally in a Quidditch match. In fact, she’d gotten quite good at it. And having seen elbows fly in this match, she was inspired, to say the least.

Flying straight at Elsian in an almost rage, Aly drove her elbow into him hard and swiftly before taking a sharp turn away from him. Hopefully, no referee’s whistle would accompany her misdeed, and she waited a beat before breathing a sigh of relief when none came. Instead, a calm pride trickled in, replacing her fury bit by bit.

So I can do something right, at least.

Again, Charlie continued to watch Cecily, her team captain, score more and more points. But, Charlie was too focused in on watching all the other Ravenclaw players that she did not notice Finnegan until it was too late. He only scored two points before Lavinia passed it back to Cecily so she could score another goal for Ravenclaw.

After all of this was happening, Charlie watched Jorah completely knock out TWO of Gryffindor’s players with blungers. Jorah was an excellent beater and Ravenclaw was super lucky to have him on their team. While Charlie felt slightly bad, she was also super happy for her team. “Yes Jorah! Great job mate!” She also watched him hit Finnegan and definitely do some damage to him.
