Quidditch Hufflepuff vs Slytherin - Spring 2024

The first round of action would start with a bang. It had come to be expected from these aggressive matches and Howard loved it. Sure, he and probably ever one else would flinch and await a painful blow as the crack of the Beater's bats began to fill the air like anti-aircraft munitions. However, that was just part of the game and he did his best to stay focused on the task at hand. He locked eyes with McCall for just a moment and he knew it was time to make his move. There would be no Quaffle grabs or scoring for him at the moment. With a quick dive he aimed directly for Avery Chen and barreled into the third year shoulder first. The younger student would recognize him just a moment too late and went crashing out of the sky.

Sarah could barely breathe she was so excited. She had always been a fan of Quidditch her whole life and here she was playing in her first ever Quidditch match. Well, sort of. She was sitting on the bench on the side of the pitch, but she was still apart of the team! Sarah watched her teammates soar through the sky. She gasped very loudly as she watch some of her teammates get knocked off there brooms. Sarah decided she had to support her team in any way she could. Next to her, Sarah's teammate Annie Morgan started a chant. Sarah decided to join in.

While never a fan of leaving her posts unguarded, Atlas needed to remind herself that she was often needed to ensure her team had at least a chance of recovering players. The games were always aggressive and the likelihood that teammates would be cast from their brooms was almost a guarantee at least once a game.

Tightening her grip on her broom, Atlas dashed away from her posts to take up a position that would allow her a better chance to recover some of their key players. Constantly scanning the field, Atlas watched as a bludger barreled toward Roxette. The strike landed and her teammate was tossed from her broom. Leaning into her broom, Atlas began to pursue, hoping to keep them in the game. However, she quickly turned her pace as the bludger violently ricocheted into Ethen. Cursing under her breath, Atlas tore forward desperately trying to keep their seeker in the game.

Even as her pursuit began, Atlas knew she was too far. She was flying as quickly as she could but there was too much distance between them. She dove but couldn't get the angle quick enough. Pounding her fist on her broom handle in frustration, Atlas whipped back around to head toward her posts. In her absence, Slytherin was having their way with her posts and running up the score. They needed to change things quickly or the game would start to get out of hand.

Keepers Catch
10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separately from the attack roll.

─────Landon flinched as he watched the match unfold. He watched as people were knocked off their brooms, wincing as he saw them fall. He hated that they were falling and getting hurt. Even the Slytherins. But he couldn't do anything about it. He could only be there to support his team and possibly get up and play if something happened to the other Keeper.

Landon turned as he heard Annie shout another chant, smiling a little, but his blue eyes were still concerned about his teammates who had been knocked off their brooms. He looked back at the field and watched as Alyssea started out onto the field. "You can do this, Alyssea!" he said, a little louder than he normally was because he wanted her to know he was excited for her.

The Hufflepuff Keeper did not seem to be on his post, and Mellani intended to take full advantage of this, especially since no other chasers seemed to have eyes on the quaffle either. She effortlessly scored a full 50 points for Slytherin, and looked around at how the others were doing. A couple of people had been knocked out, but this list included Hufflepuff's main seeker, and Dan seemed to have found the snitch. The game was going pretty good for the snakes.

Atlas was observing the beginning of the game, so far they had a rough start like the previous game as other team players were KOB'ed, but that did not stop them from gaining some points which made the young prefect excited.

"Hey there, are you enjoying the game so far?," he said with so much excitement to the person who was sitting next to him. This encounter reminded him of the moment when he met his Prefect buddy, Beatrice Dupont. The last game was entertaining; perhaps, Slytherin would emerge victorious once more.

Avery made his rounds up high, keeping an eye on the match down below, watching carefully for any threats towards his teammates. The small boy had become accustomed to watching from above, confident in the deep dives he could make within a split second to catch Cobras knocked from their brooms, though recovering those who had been bludgered mercilessly usually proved more difficult. The disappointment of not being able to rescue the most severely injured teammates always haunted him.

The crack of a bat always sent him on high alert -- he relaxed momentarily as he saw a bludger zoom towards those in yellow and black robes, but as one tore at Erin, he sprung to action. "Erin!" he called, beginning his dive and reaching out with a hand, but the combined hit from two Hufflepuffs had been too much. Not only was the bludger exceedingly fast and furious, it also began to ricochet towards Percival with similar devastating speed.

He only saw the bludger's path in his eyes, and neglected to see three Hufflepuff chasers rocketing towards him until it was too late. Amongst the turmoil and chaos, Hufflepuff's large captain rammed into him. The surprise in our boy's eyes must have been evident as he scrambled for the shaft -- the bristles -- anything -- of his broom, but nothing caught in his grasp except sunlit air.

He'd failed his team. Not only had he let Erin fall during her last game, he had let them wipe out Percival before the older boy could even demonstrate his full potential. And he had become an unexpected casualty himself.

A glint of blonde hair and green robes caught his eye, and he saw his co-captain move towards him in concern, but there was no way she could abandon her post from the other end of the pitch and reach him in time.

Sorry... the word flitted across his mind in silent apology as he closed his eyes to brace for the inevitable impact.

With the disaster of Erin, Percival and Avery going down, also came the excitement of Mellani scoring 50 points for Slytherin, without any issues, as well as Dan spotting the Snitch pretty much immediately! A grin of anticipation set on her lips and she watched green and yellow mixing above the ground.

Well, bollocks. Ulysses was content to sit on the sidelines and watch the true stars of the Slytherin Quidditch Team showcase why they were an absolute powerhouse. It was pretty insane to watch their level of play and comparing to his silly little attempt during an off-season pickup match.

Yet, here he was on the balls of his feet watching Dan turn his trajectory towards something in the sky and both Erin and Percival fell off their brooms in an insane display of tenacity from the Hufflepuff Team. Ulysses was never one to shy away from a challenge and the first year looked over at Remedy who also would have to get in the game and he mounted his broom and kicked off into the Quidditch Pit.

They were so close to winning the cup potentially and Uly would do anything to make sure the other Beater's hardwork didn't go to waste.

xxNot bad. Not bad at all. Taking an early lead, Maggie considered Slytherin off to a good start. Any good feeling, though, was immediately dissipated by the three falling teammates. Three. To the ground plummeted Avery, Percival, and Erin. “Avery!” Maggie’s voice was whipped away by the wind, and she gripped the shaft of her broom to stop herself from immediately going in for her friend. Something about seeing the person she’d entered the team with plummet towards the earth felt sobering. Alas, there was still a game to play.
