It was if time slowed, watching her spell be cast and absorbed by the boy. She would surely find herself in the Headmasters office for a reprimand of casting magic on students later when this entire disaster was over, but at this given moment? Dusana couldn't give an ass what the employee rules were. As her spell hit, time seemed to speed up, and she watched as the lunatic boy turned into a elk? What the-?!! This night was getting crazier and crazier. Students around her were panicking, spells were being slung left and right, and was that a girl approaching the mad boy? Was she just as mad? At least the elk was now in the ground, hooves sucked in. Pity about his antlers though. "Be careful Miss..." Dusana stopped short, not knowing the girls name. Numerous exclamations cleared it up fast, and Dusana scrunched her nose up at the girl. "Miss Prince, if you're wanting a trip to the Hospital Wing for being gored apart, be my guest. You're being very smart there, walking towards the mad animagus who just stabbed someone. Why don't we all try it, hmm?" Her tone dripped of sarcasm and she really hoped no student would actually do said action.

She surveyed the grounds, hoping to spot where the stabbed boy actually was. She turned back to the only student she knew personally, who she thought to be quite capable of handling herself at this moment. "Miss Silmataurea, if something arises, please call me. I have to attend to the injured," she commanded. Sucking in a deep breath, she triaged the patients as she went along the path.
1. A girl in a body bind. Something she dismissed instantly as a lower priority as even a student could cast a counter spell for her.
2. Multiple people panicking. Dismissed for now. There were other adults around to provide comfort.
3. Were people yelling about being killed?

She flicked her gaze in that direction, her mind still on the fact that someone had had most definitely been stabbed. It was coming from where Asclepius was, and Dusana hesitated for a moment, her steps faltering over the uneven ground. Should she go make sure things were alright? Ultimately, she was an adult in the situation and her snake could only do so much. So yes. Now was the time to follow her snake.

She hadn't even found the boy who had been stabbed. A Pericles? Her gaze roamed and oh there he was, attached to another girl with a broom. She was sure it was him since he had bandages over his face and was hanging onto the girl for dear life. He desperately needed to get to the Hospital Wing. At least now with the broom, they would make their way out of this mess. She shouted, trying to get their attention in some godforsaken unfashionable way of waving her arms. "Oi! Girl with the broom! Hospital Wing! Now!" Hoping the girl had heard Dusana, she spun, gold flecks of light dancing across the dress. Much like she had hoped for tonight. But no. Someone just had to create a mess of things.

There was smoke. It was the first thing she noticed as the Nurse made her way over towards where she thought her companion might be. He'd gone after the two boys who had been tussling in the grass, and hopefully per her instructions constricted one. She coughed as the smoke entered her lungs, her hands trying to wave it away and clear a minuscule inch for her to see in. "Asclepius," she hissed in Parseltongue. "Where are you?" Remembering that many of the students wouldn't recognise the language she was speaking, she switched to English. "Asclepius! Where are you?" She paused, adding in more detail for someone within the smoke to perhaps let her know for sure where her snake was. "Can anyone see my snake? Nurse Sabo's snake?" She realised belatedly that she could cast a spell to dispel the smoke. But since she had entered the fray, she didn't want to inadvertently hit someone without a clear line of sight. It would just add another injury to her growing list of students to care for when this all ended.

Chaos. In her confusion, Sereia was frozen. Although, she wasn't entirely sure who to curse at; whether this was the work of Khaos or the Fates, Sereia did not know where to start with trying to remedy the situation. In a blink, people were digging at the ground, screams tore throughout the sky, and spells were flung. But it wasn't the same as those kids that flung a disarming spell and a rooting spell for the laughs. This was a real fight.

Even the nurse's directions weren't all that clear either. The boy on the ground? Which one? On one side, there was the boy digging; the other side, two were pretty close together. Next thing she knew, a cloud of smoke emerged. Impressive, it was, but not helpful.

To feel useless was one thing Sereia had dealt with for a good portion of her life. This kind of uselessness was different, however. She was no master at the healing arts like Dusana was, nor a martial artist with a flair for duelling like these students did. She could provide emotional support, yes, but what good was that in the heat of the moment? Not like pulling out her tarot cards (which she didn't bring) was a great plan of action, either.

Useless.

As Dusana ran into the smoke, Sereia figured she may as well follow. She could only hope her senses of navigating darkness [Blindvision] were still sharp. Gods, maybe casting a weightlessness charm on her dress before this would've been a good idea because the jewels and beads were weighing her down as she rushed in. In the smoke, she could make out the vague outlines of bodies, ears now on alert with her vision slightly impaired. There were two girls she noticed, however, from yesterday night when she was reading everyone's futures. Slytherins.

Sereia wrapped her arms around them and nudged them gently. "Hey, c'mon you two. We gotta get out of here." She desperately hoped they would follow her words.

Sixth Sense | +2 to awareness rolls. If a player attempts to enter a thread that Sereia is already in, there is a 25% chance that she will automatically detect them on entry. She is immune to Charmers and will not suffer their -1 to ACC.

Keen Eye | There is a 25% chance of automatically finding something (if there is anything that can be found) not someone. A search attempt can only be used once in a moderated event.

Wandmaker (White River Monster Spine core) | +1 accuracy with charms, -2 wisdom DC (WDC) requirement for all wisdom checks when casting a charm.

Calming Presence | An aura of calm. Allies (Dusana Sabo and Mateo Sáez) gain a 10% chance to auto-hit their chosen target. This does not stack.

Cat's Grace | Sereia has a 25% chance to enter threads successfully hidden from other users. This can be countered by those with Sixth Sense. On any stealth checks, Sereia has a +2 to stealth (average of wisdom and evasion).

Blindvision | Sereia can see in magical and in non-magical darkness. Immune to various blinding spells such as Fumos, Obscuro, Nebulus, etc.

Legilimency | Sereia has learned the spell Legilimens and can delve into a person's mind so long as she is casting the spell.

Initiative rolls
Reducio
How was initiative calculated?

Initiative rolls were calculated by taking either Sta, Eva or Acc (whichever is highest) and adding it to a 1d20. This has been done so that the action order was not completely based on luck and instead had a foundation on your character's skills. Critical failures or Success were not possible for these rolls.

Roll may not line up exactly what shows on discord. This is because there were lots of doubles. Turn order remains consistent though.

Some extra notes
Reducio

Best to read the post first before this. If you are confused by something read this:

Descriptive and interesting writing wasn’t really possible given how long it took to manage, roll and write this. So the descriptions are very utilitarian. It is up to individual posters to flesh out the actions and add the detail.

How I am handling the snake and parselmouth mechanics here should not be taken as precedent. I have no clue what the precedent is.

Since Percival Rainwood didn't interact with the commotion, I am not counting his terrible presence.

A reminder that for this thread at least. I am allowing people to cast protego on themselves and bodyblock in one action.

I apologise in advance if I forget to apply charmer -1 accuarcy or lovely creature or other global buffs/debuffs. These abilities are a nightmare to moderate.

I just decided to give Asclepius 10 evasion. (might change if I find out more info on snake pets) Seemed reasonable to me, though Theo's roll was so bad there was no chance of this ever hitting.

Why 20DC for jack breaking out from the Earth? I wanted to give Jack around 50% chance of freeing himself. Orbis isn't on the duelling spell list so this is how I'm doing it.

Even more notes:

It is more than possible that I will get things wrong. This is my first time moderating. Please let me know if I miss your action or do something incorrectly.

Please be very specific about your action at the bottom of your post. Anything done in the bulk of your text won't be considered unless it is mentioned in the action section. This is to avoid confusion.

There was another issue where some people thought accuracy would be used to determine tackles. I apologize for not making this clear beforehand, but I am now. All physical altercations will be done with strength vs evasion. This is for simplicity's sake. Of course it is slightly contextual, if you are throwing a ball at someone it will use accuracy. If you are unsure, DM me and I'll tell you what your action would use, but as a rule of thumb, strength for physical fighting and tackles.

Third Round

Asclepius the serpent ruthlessly tightened its grip around Gideon’s leg. The snake had entwined itself around the boy's waist and arm restricting his movement.

DC 30
Gideon’s evasion:
[d20 : 16] + 15
In the end, the result was: 31
Success!

After some pained struggling against his attacker, the golden haired boy summoned a burst of strength and managed to detach Asclepius from his body, the snake falling to the grass between Finnegan and Gideon.

Meanwhile, Sereia Clairmont the professor of Divination arrived on the scene and started to bring order back to the chaos. First by attempting to remove two students from a plume of magical smoke that had erupted and shrouded the violence from view.

Sereia’s strength:
[d20 : 3] + 10
In the end, the result was: 13
Astra’s evasion:
[d20 : 5] + 5
In the end, the result was: 10
Success!

Sereia’s strength:
[d20 : 17] + 10
In the end, the result was: 27
Ava’s evasion:
[d20 : 11] + 7
In the end, the result was: 18
Success!

Sereia firmly guided Astra and Ava out of the smoke, whether they liked it or not. She then scanned the fumos cloud with her eyes for more students. Having blindvision, made it easy to detect there were at least two people inside the cloud and also a snake laying on the grass.

Sereia’s keen eye:
[d4 : 1]
In the end, the result was: 1
Fail!

Sereia would be able to make out a teddy bear being held tightly by Gideon, and also see that there was blood on Finnegan’s dress robes. However, the weapon and location of the wound remained elusive from view.

Piérre Marchonné and Valentin Schnell both had the same idea. They drew their wands and stood side by side, ready to defend Evelynn as she attempted to evacuate Pericles from the pitch via broom. While on the ground, the newly minted cyclops drew his wand and attempted to clear Ava’s fumos with his own spell.

WDC 11 (13) (lovely creature)
Pericles wisdom:
[d20 : 3] + 12
In the end, the result was: 15
Success!

With a flick of his wand, Pericles dispelled the magical fog clearing it from the pitch. Revealing Gideon, Finnegan and a very aggravated snake. He would then suddenly find a vial being pressed to his lips by Evelynn encouraging him to drink a calming draught. If he chose to drink he would feel his mind become at ease. Although not doing much for the pain, the potion would settle his nerves and bring him down from the adrenaline. He would also gain 50 hit points back. Evelynn was ready to take off, hopefully with the calming draught consumed, Pericles would be more pliable to convince to join her.

Dealla Prince would get a good view of the ditch from where she was standing. She could see Vladmir holding the cranium of a human skull, which was just missing its jaw. Nothing else was visible in the dirt after this was removed.

Galton Lansdale attempted to cast salvio hexia, the protection charm.

WDC 15 (17) (lovely creature)
Galton’s wisdom:
[d20 : 15] + 16
In the end, the result was: 31
Success!

A silver flash from the end of his wand and a dome like shield shone opaquely over the area where the ditch had been dug. Galton, Vladimir, Jack, Aly, Dealla and Meenauh now existed within a hex free zone.

The unfortunate result of a ricocheted full body bind curse, Scout Fu-Hai had been laying on the ground stiff as a statue for the past thirty seconds. Luckily Zophyr Qethnis knew the counter curse and enacted it immediately.

WDC 9 (11) (lovely creature)
Zephyr’s wisdom:
[d20 : 16] + 5
In the end, the result was: 21
Success!

A red light shot from Zophyr’s wand and Scout would feel a sensation flood back to her limbs as she regained the ability to move.

Rushing over, Aly Salinger reached out to try and snatch Dealla’s wand from her hand.

Aly’s strength:
[d20 : 1] + 5
In the end, the result was: 6
Dealla’s evasion:
[d20 : 14] + 15
In the end, the result was: 29
Fail!

Meenauh Silmataurea had been poised, ready to cast at Aly for attempting to grab her friend's wand. Luckily, she wouldn’t need to cast as Dealla skillfully pulled her wand away at the last second out of reach from Aly. The protego that Dealla cast in the previous round had faded to nothing by the end of this turn anyhow.

As this was happening, the commotion on the other side of the pitch seemed to reach its zenith. Rebecca Lark had grabbed hold of Finn and attempted to pull him backwards away from Gideon.

Rebecca’s strength:
[d20 : 12] + 7
In the end, the result was: 19
Finnegan’s evasion
[d20 : 6] + 10
In the end, the result was: 16
Success!

Finnegan would find himself being pulled back, creating a larger gap between him and Gideon whether he wanted it or not. In a last ditch attempt, he tried to wrestle the bear (knife) out of the golden boy’s grasp.

Finn’s strength:
[d20 : 19] + 2
In the end, the result was: 21
Gideon’s evasion:
[d20 : 11] + 15
In the end, the result was: 26
Fail!

The teddy bear slipped from Finn’s grasp as it remained in Gideon’s possession. The knife conveniently retracted back inside. To any onlookers it would have seemed Finnegan was fighting Gideon over a stuffed animal. Finn’s wound was now exposed and bleeding profusely. Everyone would now be able to see the wound along with blood that had soaked into the dress robes around Finn’s gut.

Finn’s bleeding damage
[d2 : 2]*100
In the end, the result was: 200
Finn = 500/1000 HP

At this same time this was happening, Theo’s gaze remained fixated on the snake, which Gideon had successfully unbound himself from. Under the impression that a terrifying monster was attacking students, he raised his wand and attempted to cast the knockback Jinx at Asclepius.

WDC 9 (11) (lovely creature)
[d20 : 16] + 10
In the end, the result was: 26
Success!

Theo’s accuracy:
[d20 : 3] + 6 (-5 red sparks critical fail)
In the end, the result was: 4
Asclepius’ evasion:
[d20 : 2] + 10
In the end, the result was: 12
Miss!

An orange crack of light flew from Theo’s wand, but blinded by fear, his aim was poor. He struck the grass next to Asclepius, leaving the serpent unharmed. A few moments later Dusana Sabo arrives in search of her pet, which was lying on the grass in between Theo and Gideon.

Throughout all of this chaos Jack, still in his large Elk form, had been half submerged in the earth. He struggled against the dirt hoping to break free.

DC 20
Jack’s strength (Elk form)
[d20 : 13] + 10
In the end, the result was: 23
Success!

Through much grunting, the large Elk managed to break free from the dirt. Now unaffected by any charms or hindrances, what would Jack decide to do with his freedom?

To end the round, a first year Slytherin, Elisa Shakestra, had lost her wand during the chaos. She searched frantically and eventually spotted her missing timber stuck vertically in the dirt of a flower bed.

The TLDR
Reducio

Gideon broke free from the the snake's bind.

Rebecca pulled Finnegan away from Gideon. Gideon keeps hold of the bear and the knife retracted inside still concealed.

The fumos was dispelled.

Theo cast flipendo at the snake and missed.

Aly was unable to snatch Dealla's wand from her.

Scout was freed from the full body bind curse by Zophyr.

Jack managed to break free from the earth.

Pericles was fed a calming draught by Eveylnn who is prepared to leave via broom.

Galton cast a hex protection spell around the ditch where the skull was found. This covers himself, Vladmir, Jack, Aly, Dealla, Meenauh

It hadn't taken long for all hell to break lose at the Ball. Mateo had heard many tales of such events occurring at these balls, but he'd hoped that he would never have to experience something of the sort himself. Alas, his wish proved futile as everything exploded into chaos around him. It took him a second to even process everything that had been happening before he knew that some sort of action from him was required.

Nurse Sabo had quickly taken lead in barking orders, to which Mateo was grateful as he had little clue where to even start with the simultaneous events. It was all rushing over his head a bit - he felt very much out of his depth, and this had definitely not been part of the job description when he'd initially signed up. Nonetheless, he shook off the worries. After all, he was now an adult here, and the students' safety had to be the priority. Kids had been screaming blood murder within a massive smokescreen, which his two fellow adults had entered to try to help any students within, so Mateo decided to follow.

As he arrived, a gust of wind cast the screen away, revealing a student, bleeding out Finnegan Connor being pulled away from a blonde boy Gideon Athanatos. Nurse Sabo’s poor snake had been kicked off to the side. “Buddy, go, continue the job. Restrain the blonde boy so he cannot run off,” Mateo instructed his own snake friend as he approached the situation. If Nurse Sabo had needed the kid restrained initially, then it must have been for some good reason. Mateo was also worried that he may run away from this whole commotion.

Seeing the blood, Mateo chose to approach the injured boy. "Hold still," he told him, pointing his wand at the wound. "I'm not the Nurse, but hopefully this can help. Ferula."

Keeping his eyes forwards and focused on treating the injury, he called behind him, "Ms Clairmont, Nurse Sabo, is everyone else alright?"

Zophyr's spell had worked, despite the distracting chaos, the red sparks everywhere and the smoke (which was soon dispelled). The few precious seconds she'd spent helping the poor frozen kid on the ground had unfortunately been enough to put her out of the loop, because as she looked around again, the weird horned creature Jack had come out of the ground, the snake constricting goldilocks Gideon was no longer doing so, everyone was shouting, and Zophyr heard something about a skull.

First things first. She hadn't liberated the girl on the ground for nothing. Helping her up, she said, "I'm Zophyr, she/her pronouns at the moment. No time for small talk. I'm not completely sure what's happening but the best thing for you is to get out of here." She paused. "I need to figure out what's going on. That boy is most definitely stabbed." Finnegan Goldilocks had said it was a nearby girl who had rammed into them - in fact, the same girl who'd miscast Periculum Astra. But then he'd gotten strangled by a snake. And Zophyr tended to trust snakes more than humans, especially at a stabbing fair. Theo would not have been proud.

Ach, what to do, what to do! The second year glanced at the girl she'd just helped, which was enough to know she was exactly like her in terms of recklessness, and there was no way she was going to get out of here just because Zophyr had asked. Okay, fine. She resigned herself to trying to explain the best she could. "That creature over there? He's an animagus. You saw him stab that other boy, I think. Peri I don't know what's wrong with him, he was digging a bunch." She was too far away to notice whether something had actually been dug up. "The eye-stabbed boy is off to the side, safe for now, I hope. I don't know what happened to the short one. Finnegan He's stabbed, that professor is taking care of him Mateo, but I don't know who did it. Goldilocks over there says it's that readhead."

She was wasting time. Seconds were ticking by. They didn't have time for this. She needed to figure out who was responsible, or something. She began to approach the redhead. Sure, perhaps Goldilocks was right, and perhaps she was going towards a murderer, but in Zophyr's mind snakes were mostly trustworthy, and Goldilocks was dressed way too terribly for him to be believable. Besides, wasn't Zophyr just thinking how reckless they were? "Did Goldi- did that blond boy stab him?" she asked as soon as she got to the redhead. Straight to the point (the only thing straight about Zophyr). Whether she could trust her was to be seen, but for now, she just needed someone to confirm what she was suspecting.

Ernest felt his heart leap in his throat as he looked over the two girls he was around; wanting to protect them both. He looked over at Willow, seeing the panic in her eyes and wanting to ease the fear that was probably overwhelming her. Then he looked at Elisa, he knew she was strong and resistant, but the fear wasn’t hidden in her either.

The young goblin let his hand drop from Elisa and turned to hug Willow, trying to block her view of the chaos going on in front of them. “It’s going to be okay, I’m here and I promise to protect you.” He said, even as he felt goosebumps growing on his skin as he was acutely aware that his back was turned away from all of the danger. He turned his head to watch when Elisa walked away, trying to figure out a way to help, but he knew his date needed someone right now.

Just as she spoke, the goblin saw the elk boy get free. He had to fight the urge to run or grab Elisa and get out of there. One hand around his date, his other slipped into his pocket, holding tight to his wand. Just in case.

Mikael was not too sure how he could put his feelings into thoughts. The chaos surrounding him did nothing to ease his weary vessel. Could he not rest easy now where he knew he must be safe? No.. even here was fraught with danger. A scourge marked this dreaded castle, extending to the very tips and to its deepest waters. He would know. Having fallen prey to the dark blue waters that dragged him under. The being had been so angry, and Valentin. The boy swallowed thickly. Had he not dragged him from the water as he had once been taken? An uneasiness pulled at him like a shroud. Under his mask his eyes were wide. His thoughts raced, and yet there were no thoughts.

When had he started to feel this uneasiness? Was it when he first realized he was being hunted? No. It was before that. Standing in front of his Father's room as haunting cries filled the dreary halls of his house. A house. For it was no home. No.. that was not it either. Mikael swallowed, watching his Mother leave him for the stars? That mere thought brought him down. Pinched lips pulled into a deep frown. No.. he could not think of that, not now. Nothing seemed to stand out, and yet the worry that threatened to spill forward was more than he could bare.

A scream split the air drawing the boy out of his thoughts, before fading away into nothingness. They seemed to be doing that a lot to be honest. Grating screams of flaky Europeans. The boy could not help but slightly attest to the idea with an eye roll. "Misha", the boy heard his name being called loudly from afar. Mikael looked up surprised as he looked over towards Valentin. The boy looked so bright, and yet something seemed off about him still. Something he could not place, but felt important to categorize. Mikael hummed slightly before pausing as it took him an embarrassingly long time to realize he had simply been standing in the middle of the path. Maybe that was why the boy had called to him. To drag him back to reality. Mikael would walk over to the white-haired boy in an awkward fashion.

The boy hardly paid much attention to the figures that stood around the other. Eyes caught up in staring the boy down. Up close the other seemed fine, at the very least physically. Though, when it came to mentally, he found he probably was not much one to talk. A loss of words rendered him immobile. Standing near the boy like a dark shroud. The darkness to his light. Mikael's head turned slowly to study the brown-haired boy who seemed to flit about. Incomplete wording and jerky gestures. His Father acted the same when that part of him died. The one his Mother had stolen away with her. How could it be that he was the least affected by her death? Though, as the boy thought to himself, maybe that was not something to be proud of. "What is wrong with him?" he would ask Valentin. No shame would quiet his tone as if they were discussing something as simple as the weather.

Mikael's gaze caught upon the object of concern, a skull. It seemed surreal as he stared at the thing with wide eyes. Why? It was the only word that came to his ever blanking mind. Why was there a skull? Why did it have to be now? His Mother's rasping breaths filled his ear after he had been lay to waste on him Mother's final resting grounds. It had only been a nightmare, and yet it still haunted his ever waking moment. Why was he remembering this now? Acid bubbled up in his throat. Swallowing did nothing to ease the burning pain. "
Mor jeg kan se deg..."
he mumbled out breathlessly. (Norwegian for Mother I can see you based on Google) Mikael reached out to Valentin grabbing onto his sleeve. All the while the boy would stare the white skull down. Why?

White meant innocence. Ava was anything but.

She watched as the spell she had cast caused even more chaos, and regretted it. She watched the smoke consume her vision, leaving only the blurry shapes of people. She realized, too late, that the spell would hide the people in the smoke from people on the outside who wanted to help.

Ava felt herself pulled back out of the smoke, and looked up to face the wrath of her new favorite professor to annoy. The same professor who had taken her reading the day previous. Now, Ava couldn’t help but wonder what it meant.

The smoke was dispelled, and Ava caught sight of the battle inside, including a flash of metal that she knew well. Her visions narrowed down to the weapon, the one that had destroyed her life. Maybe not the exact same one, but one too similar for comfort. Her breath came in short bursts as she struggled to breathe through her panic. She tried not to think about the thing that had happened, what she had done.

Ava swallowed. "I’m okay." She muttered, glancing around and trying to hide her panicked face. She glanced between Astra and the professor, avoiding looking anywhere towards the action near them. Knife. Knife. Knife. January 8th.

𝓘nside the smoke she found herself able to act on naught but instinct, her vision obscured and her thoughts dulled by terror. She might as well have been wholly alone inside of it, her sense of direction nullified by the haze and her searching hands coming up empty. "Finn? Finnegan?" She shouldn't have rushed in after him. She should have gone and grabbed Pericles, or a professor, or literally anyone who could cast proficiently. Instead she'd heaved herself off the cliffside, heedless to any sort of Ravenclaw strategy or planning. Somewhere in this fog was Finn, bleeding and imperiled, as well as his friend who may have been in danger of his own from a giant snake. Should've, would've, could've.

A sudden gust of wind blew through, a with it the smokes faded out, creating a jarring sort of mise-en-scène in which the chaos of the whole night was once again stark and visible. A monster is always more terrifying when you can't see it. To see something is to name it, to give it shape and form, a certain tangibility that dulls the claws of terror. Being able to once again see and process the scene around her acted as a sort of stutter-stop for Bex's brain, allowing her to reboot it and bring it online again.

Gideon and Finnegan stood close to each other, the snake on the ground between them. Finnegan, pallid and frail looking, hair soaked with sweat and blood coating his hands and hoodie, had been through hell and back tonight but was somehow still standing despite it all. Closing the distance, Bex grabbed onto his arm and pulled him back away from the blond boy and the snake, latching onto him and refusing to let go if he was unwilling to be moved. Thankfully, twelve-year-old Gryffindor boys were apparently not nearly as strong as teddy bears; wonders never cease. For whatever reason, the snake no longer appeared to be attacking the blond boy, but Bex didn't intend to wait around for it to change it's target.

No sooner had she removed the two of them from the fray then someone had shot off a Knockback Jinx at the snake, missing the beast quite terribly and singing the ground where Finnegan had stood only moments before. Editorializing for flavor. Tonight sucked so hard.

"Finn, hold still. Hold still. You have to put pressure on it, that's the first rule of bleeding, I think." Bex was pretty sure there were more steps after that, but honestly she was flying by the seat of her pants here. They didn't even have anything remotely in the same jurisdiction as first aid supplies, they were at a school dance. For lack of better options, Bex reached up and pulled the moth cape up and over her head before attempting to use it apply pressure to the injury. If Finnegan allowed it, she'd lift up his blood-soaked hoodie and press her balled up cape against the wound. If Finnegan didn't allow it, presumably they bickered like feral cats.

For what may have very well been the last time she'd ever trust an authority figure implicitly, at the librarian's approach she adjusted her position to allow the man a clear shot at casting Ferula.
Action: Attempting to use her cape to slow the bleeding. Will move it out of the way if this hinder's Mateo's casting, unless verbally told by Finn not to.

Sereia's Calming Presence is in effect
Allies are Dusana Sabo and Mateo Sáez
As the smoke cleared, Sereia could only gape in horror at the scene. A boy on the floor, abdomen bloodied from whatever the hell happened in the smoke. Mateo was already quick to act, hearing the familiar incantation of the bandaging charm. Overhead, a few students left by broom. On the other side, a protective barrier went up which contained another handful of students. Whatever they were up to, Sereia wasn't so sure.

The boy bleeding on the ground would be fine. Mateo would see to it. Dusana was even there if anything went awry. In Sereia's arms were two Slytherin girls she pulled to keep them out of danger. The red-head was not pleased with her action, however, and broke away agreed beforehand with Astra's writer. "Hey, wait!" The professor sputtered weakly. Part of her was exhausted, unimpressed that Astra would just run into danger, but there was no stopping a stubborn tween.

Ava, on the other hand, stayed right where Sereia had taken her. Sereia did a quick scan to make sure she hadn't been injured, prepared to catch the girl if she passed out and fell. Her shallow and quick breaths were not a good sign, however.

Clearing her throat, Sereia gently whispered, "Breathe slowly, alright?" Before she began the breathing exercise, Sereia pulled them a bit farther from the action. If they were to get hit by a stray spell, it would hinder any progress of stopping a panic attack. "I'm going to breathe in for four counts, hold my breath for four, and breathe out in four. You want to try that with me?"

Sereia began breathing just like she explained to Ava. After one round, Sereia turned to counting out the beats so that they wouldn't get lost along the way. It might take too long.

She shifted the grip of her hand, only to realise, yes, she had a wand and she might as well use it. Sereia placed her wand at Ava's sternum with enough of a distance that the girl wouldn't accidentally jab herself if she were to suddenly jump. Sereia imagined the darkness washing away as she said the incantation, "Serenate."
