2023/24 Stage 3 Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 6

He whipped out his wand, casting the Knockback Jinx. Everyone on his team seemed to be aiming their wands towards Avery, just like everyone on the Slytherin team faced their wands towards him. Avery evaded his freaking Knockback Jinx, and he wanted to have a fit, being a failed caster. He was struck with an Incendio and a Flipendo, and felt himself falling onto the ground.

They weren't even five minutes in and already someone was unconscious. Thankfully, they were on the other team. Mahlioz couldn't help a tiny smile from slipping out, glad that things had started on the right foot. She hoped the third year would be okay - waking up in the hospital wing wasn't fun (except, of course, when a certain Ravenclaw came to check on you, which had happened to Mahlioz, and she couldn't be more grateful).

Back to the game. Unfortunately it wasn't just the other team who'd gotten hit - they'd seemed to have the same idea of only aiming for one target. Leveret. He evaded one spell, got hit by another, and a third one went flying towards Mahlioz themselves, but they easily dodged it. Leveret's own spell backfired and he hurt himself. Mouth a slim line, Mahlioz hoped he could get a hold of himself or at least a little better luck, but for now, they had to focus again.

The first round of spells came through. Someone was already knocked out and low and behold it was the third year student. Ara being her usual self had no remorse as her mindset for duels was "Every man for themselves.". Though she was no man, the young Villa knew that dueling was a sport where you were bound to get hurt and every duelist knew that. Which meant she couldn't be bothered to care about most of the injured since she knew that they knew what they signed up for.

The third year was taken off the arena and Ara looked at the remaining 2 first years in "pity". 'How sad... the two little ones were left alone'

As she saw her teammates get the consequences of a Ventus spell by their own hands, she sighed as she poor guy had also suffered the effects of a Knockback Jinx. As the good teammate she was, she kept her eye and head on the duel.

She rolled up the sleeve of her right hand. "Let us continue this duel shall we?"

Siobhan gasped for two reasons. One because, to her great surprise she had hit her opponent square in the stomach with a surprisingly powerful Knockback Jinx and it had actually come from somewhere deep in her arcane magic pools.

However she also gasped upon seeing her teammate go down as suddenly the entirety of the opposing team turned their wands on him. Noah had hit the ground like a ton of bricks and she was unable to help him.

Feeling her frustration well up at the thought of losing this duel, she turned her attention back on the original kid the team had picked for their target and focused on the next spell. He had easily dodged Noah’s Knockback.

His incantation and movements were perfect, but his unruly wand opposed him at every chance it got, and it made him seethe, if it were not for the fact that this duel was ongoing, he would take it into his own hands and snap it over his knee, but then where would he be? What would he be? An angry little boy, with little mastery over his own wand, himself and his future. He reeled as his own Ventus struck himself, gritting his teeth and making it hard to dodge a flipendo that was aimed at him. Sere evades Ara's Incendio.

“Yaaaawwn.” It was all their moderator had to say after three spells failed to hit their target. Jessamine had to hand it to them – no one had botched their casting yet. Flashes of light whizzing by her had become a normal sight and the Ravenclaw wasn’t so sure she could even hold a candle to that. Still, the sights before her were abysmally boring. All of them, except for Siobhan’s Taratallegra which Ara was so close to avoiding. Alas, the snake was hit and almost immediately, her legs started moving against her will. Ara’s irregular movement resembled a solo jive, and Jessamine couldn’t be bothered to woop out loud as the snake’s dance swung her out of the way of Sere’s Flipendo.

Mahlioz continued Siobhan’s status quo break from Incendio and Flipendo, and sent a cool second year spell towards her. The lion evaded that easily and Mahlioz’s blindfold was never conjured. Last of the failures, Ara sent a jet of flames across the piste. As if she were doing the jive herself, Sere sidestepped it, allowing the fire to sail nicely between her and the teammate standing next to her. Avery was the odd one out who decided against casting a spell so that his skills in agility could be shown off. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately for the snake, both remaining lions had turned to a different target.

Well. That had been rather sad. Both Villa and Mahlioz had missed, and not only that, but the other girl got hit by a Tarantallegra and was now dancing. Not that it was bad dancing, quite the opposite actually, but this was not a ball (thank the stars) and dancing made it rather difficult to avoid oncoming spells. Mahlioz, wincing in compassion for her teammate, hoped it wouldn't last too long.

On to the next round. These lions were both only firsties. They could win this. Right?

This time, things didn't go as smoothly, rather the opposite. The Slytherin girl had been hit by Tarantallegra and now was dancing involuntarily. She danced before in formal pure-blood balls but not like this. Her feet moved on their own as her expression was still stone cold with a pinch of being actually pissed and annoyed. Ara was silently cursing her heart out in her mind for the position she was in at the moment is quite embarrassing.

Apparently, the lions thought it would be nice for her to be their new target. Thankfully, she dodged the other spell but otherwise it wouldn't be pretty wouldn't it?

To make things even better for Ara she missed her target which made her death glare everyone around her, even her teammates. Her eyes were like daggers ready to stab into anyone that made eye contact with her.

Again?! Sere let out a rough breath when she found that once again the Knockback Jinx missed the target. Focus, Sere! Thanks to her self-reminder, at the time one spell headed to her, she dodged it easily.

The girl blinked several times when she saw the Vipers who had just cast a spell on her are currently dancing on the piste. Dancing without expression, eyes like a dagger ready to stab everyone who steps through her way on the dance floor.

Sere shook her head. She would really hate it if she had to be in the same position as Ara, but Siobhan did her job very well. Sere herself thinks that she has to stop being a burden and focus on casting spells accurately.
