T he sound of lively chatter and excited voices seemed to echo across the grounds of Hogwarts. The sun’s ray graced the grounds showering the ground with its glorious rays of brightness and warmth. The clear blue sky had a few thin crisp clouds sluggishly floating about. The cries of the owlery could be heard fairly well across the grounds along with the other avian life that lived on the grounds.
While the grounds of Hogwarts were bustling and lively on this wondrous Sunday afternoon. By the waters edge of the Great Lake sat a certain platinum blonde haired girl.
Aleksandra was sitting on the slope of the lakes shore watching the ripples of the waters surface dance about. The sound of dragonflies could be heard zipping quickly over the water's surface. The lowly cries of flock of birds chirped in a melody. Along with the soft sound of the waves lapping at the shore's edge.
Aleksandra relaxed quietly laying down against the ground, her legs hanging over the edge of the slope, her gray tinted eyes gazing up at the sky watching the clouds sluggishly move along with the many variations of birds that were in flight.
The sun’s rays basked over Aleksandra making the young girl's platinum blonde hair glimmer slightly in the sun’s rays. The warmth seemed to envelope the young girl as she closed her eyes, getting lost in thought.
All was peaceful and calm Aleksandra could not help but enjoy this rather welcoming peace. The grand news was she was alone! Nobody seemed to be around at the moment the chatter of students was fairly far away from the young girl.
The young girl adorned a casual outfit that consisted of a slightly fluffy white short sleeve shirt followed by knee length black shorts. Laying beside her was an obsidian black satchel that consisted of a few books, scrolls and quills. The young girl's hair laid behind her in a slight mess of sorts. Though Aleksandra did not care nor did it really bother her that the girl make look a tad of a mess, not that she cared what her appearance looked like.
Aleksandra zoned out her dull gray eyes closed shut as her ears pricked at every small sound that seemed to occur around her. The gentle lap of the Great Lakes water seemed to grow louder in a way as if her senses grew slightly. The sweet melodic singing of the birds echoed around her. The sweet smell of flowers blossoming indicating spring had begun to arrive wafted through the air heavily along with the soft humming sound of the bees seemed to be rather melodic to the young girl.
The peaceful serenity of the Great lake was welcoming to Aleksandra and the young girl could not see anything breaking the silence or at least she thought at least.

Siobhan took a deep breath in as she skipped down the trail towards the Great Lake. After having prepped adequately enough for her exams that day, she was rewarding herself with a small excursion to the edge of the Lake in search of some new plants and perhaps a newt to befriend. She had brought her favorite muggle book with her and was finally branching out away from her jeans and into shorts territory. It was much easier to explore the waters and enjoy the sun when you weren't bundled up in excess fabric. Today, she had opted for a comfy neon orange sweater in place of the typical grey one required during the school week, blue linen shorts and accessorized with a matching orange hair coquette bow. It was a cute outfit, and even still her house pride was prevalent as detailed with her wearing her robe and her tie.
The crisp April air was delicately warm but still refreshing enough that it wasn't abyssmal to be outside. In all honesty this time of the year was likely her favorite out of all the months, even surpassing her birth month of October. April showers bring May flowers, after all and she was ready to start seeing the fruits of her labor pop up from their warm burrows under the dirt in the pots she had cultivated and procured throughout the last couple months. All her mini veggies had started to flower and she suspected that soon, she would have some delicious veggie snacks to enjoy during her studying time.... Or even perhaps for a midnight peck if she felt hungry enough.
As Siobhan neared her favorite spot near the lake she saw that another student was enjoying the rays of the sun as they hit the water and made it sparkle like the shine of a thousand diamonds. She couldn't blame the girl- after all the way the sun refracted it's rays into the earth made whoever laid there feel as though they were photosynthesizing with the plants around them. Siobhan saw that this girl wasn't taking up too much space and it seemed to her eyes at least, that they could both share the slope as long as she didn't knock into her as she sat down.
Siobhan took her seat next to the girl, still giving her ample space to enjoy the day as she began to pull off her sandals. She was determined to get in the water for a few minutes and enjoy the crispness of the lake. Plus she still wanted to find a newt or maybe even collect some shells if there where any. She wanted to try implementing the shells as a type of fertilizer for her plants to see if it would stimulate any extra growth so that she could harvest her mini veggies later. If it worked, she planned on adding them into her soil for her Herbology projects to help them gain extra calcium. If it was good for humans it should work for plants right?
Shedding her robe and rolling up her sweater sleeves, she hopped into the lake with a miniscule but still evident splash and felt the mushiness of the mud inbeween her toes. It felt like peace as though she was home in the Lough Leanne at home. Though some how, some way the Great Lake just felt a bit more... magical.
Maybe because the Mermaids lived underneath. She hoped one day she'd get to meet them. But for now she was content to dig around in the mud as she looked for calcium rich mollusk shells to grind up with a mortar and pestle later.

With the sweet melody of the avian life singing their soft feathery tones. Aleksandra continued to relax her eyes resting shut, her hair laying flat behind spread about in little ripples of waves.
The young girl's arms rested behind her head and all was peaceful and serene. The gentle sounds of nature could not even disturb the young girl.
Aleksandra was lost in her own world. Everything was alright and wonderful, serene, perfect, no trace of people or anything to disturb her.
Or so she thought.
The sound of a minuscule splash broke Aleksandra from her own universe. Sitting up slightly in a slouched criss cross sitting position the young platinum blonde haired girl looked rather annoyed. Who on earth would dare disturb the peacefulness of nature?
Gazing forward Aleksandra noticed a young girl by the looks she looked to be a first year maybe second Aleksandra was not sure nor did she honestly care.
Taking in the young girl's appearance the platinum blonde girl seemed rather perplexed as to why anyone would jump into the shallows of the lake. Though Aleksandra could not blame one for getting into the cool water. Sighing softly under her breath Aleksandra leaned over the slope slightly with a monotone expression, her eyebrows slightly knitted together while her arms crossed in front of her chest in annoyances.
“What on earth are you doing?”
Aleksandra spoke softly in her feathery Scottish accent; her tone held a bit of annoyance to it. As the young girl kept her arms crossed slightly.
The platinum blonde haired girl was a bit confused why the other girl was in the water though Aleksandra could not blame her the Great Lake held many secrets and creatures. Aleksandra herself was curious but knew better than to jump right in though at least the stranger was in the shallows and not the depths.
Piercing gray eyes as dark as a fresh stormy afternoon seemed to analyze the stranger in front of them. Aleksandra observed the other girl’s appearance. Noting the stranger had a Gryffindor scarf loosely secured around their neck. Aleksandra herself had no idea why anyone would wear their house tie on a weekend; the young Slytherin opted out of it mainly because she disliked the way the tie felt around her neck especially in this humid heat.
Awaiting an answer from the stranger Aleksandra continued to gaze with her monotone expression. As if just talking was a pain, but also curiosity and a tad bit of annoyance motivated the young girl to figure out what on earth this lion cub was up to.

Siobhan looked up from where she was wading in the water to the blonde who was now sitting up and fully looking at her. The girl had a piercing gaze that commanded an attention she hadn't known people could give. This girl seemed like she was confident but not so much that she would continue to give out her interest in what was before her for very long. Siobhan tucked a piece of hair that had escaped her hair kerchief behind her ear and smiled politely.
"I'm looking for shells. They happen to be a wonderful source of calcium for plants! Plants are like humans you know, they need calcium to build up structure same as how we need calcium to protect our bones." Siobhan explained as she rolled up the sleeve of her orange knit sweater and stuck her hand under the water to grab one. She smiled triumphently as she pulled out a shell that was nearly the size of her palm. She waded over towards the bank of the lake where the other girl was sitting and held her arm out.
"This one is perfect because of how chalky this color is! What I'll do with it is grind it up in the Potions classroom along with some eggshells! It'll be like a super food for the plants!" Siobhan said excitedly as she brushed the residual mud off of the shell with the hem of her sweater. A little dirt never hurt after all and she was a child of the earth.
She felt a little bad for accidentally disturbing the other girl by her splashing and enthusiasm over the shells that she was finding. It didn't seem that this girl was particularly interested in why Siobhan wanted the shells, but moreso as to why she was in the water. On the contrary, it didn't particularly bother Siobhan what this girl thought of her. Most of the kids she encountered thought of her to be quite kooky and off in her own world. There wasn't any harm in that! Besides, everyone at this school was different and unique in somewhat shape or form.
"You know it's absolutely lovely in the water! The sun has warmed it up to a nice tepid temperature and the mud feels so amazing. I just love coming down here on my breaks from studying. Oh and where are my manners?" Siobhan stated excitedly as she pocketed her shell and stuck her hand out politely with all the manners she had been taught.
"My name is Siobhan. I'm a first year." Siobhan said with her signature polite smile. Her own deer like, grey eyes were now examining the girl for any sign of complete uninterest. If she rejected Siobhan's handshake or simply refused to answer her, Siobhan would understand. After all not everyone wants to be friends and she was perfectly content to let this one go.

Aleksandra was slightly confused by the young girl that was wading in the shallow lakes shore line. Though it was fairly warm so the thought of wading in the water seemed tempting, but also not something the young bleach blonde haired girl would wish to do after all why would she get her feet and calves wet and muddy when she could go to the Herbology greenhouse instead and muck around in their. The young girl knew Professor Sarai would allow her if she was very well pleased.
Aleksandra listened slightly as the brunette girl seemed to speak highly about plants and calcium and something else though she tuned her out halfway.
The stranger was rather too talkative for Aleksandra. The young bleached blonde haired girl could not help but grow a tad more annoyed. Just her luck being stuck with someone rather talkative. Even though Aleksandra herself loved plants as much as the next person just being very blatant and talkative about it seemed a tad outstretched even for the bleached haired girl herself.
Letting out a low sigh Aleksandra grew a dull bored expression, her almond shaped eyes squinted slightly, her light pink lips were in an annoyed frown, her eyebrows knitted together in annoyance. Her chin rested on her hands as she leaned down using the bank as a rest for her elbows slouched over staring over at the brunette haired girl.
While the girl still seemed to ramble on, Aleksandra caught it when the girl introduced herself. Raising her left eyebrow slightly Aleksandra thought to herself with a slight annoyance in her thoughts. Great a first year who is extremely talkative, but even Aleksandra knew it could be worse. Siobhan that was her name right? At least she had good taste.
Plants are a tad better. For one they do not talk, they are aesthetically pleasing to the eye and they have many purposes and grand things that they can do and accomplish that is for sure. Only if people could be similar to plants and just be quiet.
Sighing softly Aleksandra decided not to be rude to the stranger, well Siobhan.
“Aleks. Aleks FairBairn.”
Aleksandra spoke in her soft feathery Scottish accent as she stared with her usual expressionless look. Her steely gray eyes looked dull with a slight hint of intrigue and curiosity swimming around like a small gray silvery pool of water.
Though Aleksandra had to admit one thing though this girl was annoying and talkative she had to admit she seemed rather intriguing but only slightly.

Siobhan could see the girl was quite taken aback by her sudden brash introduction. She stilled slowly as Aleks didn't shake her hand, awkwardly putting it in her pocket to make sure the shell she had pocketed was still there. She was about to make another comment about plants, specifically asking what types of plants Aleks found to be the most interesting but stopped when she saw the blonde's eyes flick downwards towards Siobhan's feet in the water. Instinctively she dug her toes into the mud in a physical attempt to anchor herself while her mind processed everything that was going on in the interaction.

She was aware enough to know that not everyone that one came across in life was willing or wanting to be friends with people and she had accepted this. However it didn't stop her from worrying that this girl would just walk away with the notion that Siobhan was nothing more than a kooky individual invading her space. And while it absolutely was true- Siobhan had nearly made it an entire year without anyone arguably bringing this up in front of her. She had no desire to know what people thought of her outside of their interactions but she did hope nobody had developed an unpleasant taste for her... eccentricity.
Siobhan took another look at the blonde in front of her and observed her eyes. It was interesting... Her eyes, though viper like and filled with caution matched the shade of grey that Siobhan's own eyes reflected. Though unlike Siobhan's eyes, this girl had a tinge of blue to add to the mysterious color of grey that swirled through them. All eyes intrigued Siobhan... they could always speak so much to a person's inner feelings and personalities. And while the cool gunmetal grey of Aleks' eyes explained that she was a very cautious and picky with her words, the blue accent spoke to the wonders that her curiosity was lending her.
Siobhan finally gathered her words and spoke softlty to Aleks.
"Hello then Aleks. It's an absolute pleasure to meet you." she spoke with a polite smile as she waded over to a small patch of weeds in the water that looked to be lily pods. She shoved her sweater sleeves away from the water and began to dig within the constrictions of the lake mud to harvest the pods. While it would be too busy to plant at the moment- she could perhaps sneak a note along with some of the pods onto her plate during dinner tonight, imploring the house-eleves in the kitchen to help her by freezing the pods for later germinating.
"Would you like a water lily seed Aleks? They are a wonderful symbol of unity and harmony." Siobhan offers as she cuts out exactly five lily pods and offers one of them to the blonde girl

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides"⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆Siobhan took Aleks' hand in hers and pressed the muddy seeds intot he girls pristine pale skin without hesitation She was so happy to have found someone else with an interest in herbology and the want to blossom into something as a student. While Aleks hadn't said this to her face, she could tell just by the acceptance of the water lily seeds.
After passing the seeds, Siobhan waded just slightly deeper into the water so as to give Aleks room to wander into the mud just as she had earlier. A couple tiny fish swam by their feet and Siobhan giggled softly to herself as she knelt closer to the water to get a better look. Her feet had quickly become used to the waters temperature and she dared to even wander further as she continued to explore the edge and banks of the lake.
Are you enjoying your first year here Aleks? I'll confess, this has been quite the whirlwind for me. My family isn't magic and it's rather lonely knowing this is a world of my own. But I'm treating it like an Alice in Wonderland situation. Do you know that book? It's one of my favorites." Siobhan chattered, slowly becomeing more and more talkative as she warmed up to Aleks. While both of them where quiet and reserved, Siobhan had ventured further out of her shell than Aleks had so far and she wanted to coax this potential new friend out of her own and find a common ally in this crazy adventure called "school"
She looked out at the water, seeing the reflection of the Castle in the ripples as she and Aleks both moved around. She wished she had a camera to take a photo of this moment. Her ma would absolutely adore the view.
"Isn't this just the prettiest view? This entire lake reminds me of my Loch at home in Killarney." SIobhan mused towards Aleks as she took a couple mental pictures in her head, hoping to attempt a drawing of it later in her sketch book.
