| Reducio When Botan was five years old, he and his cousin Akihiko were outside, playing in the mud and his grandparents were watching him. Akihiko was trying to make the perfect pie, and Botan had challenged him to do so. Botan used mud and worms, lining the bottom with mud, adding a layer of worms, which he had found. Then he added a big scoop of mud on top, and called it finished. A few minutes later, Akihiko finished making his pie, which was an amazing pie that almost looked like a professional chef had made it. If pie’s were made of mud. Botan asked his grandparents which one they liked, and they looked at eachother and told him that “they are both beautiful!” Botan was hesitant, but when Akihiko announced that he liked Bo’s better, a big grin spread across Botan’s face. Botan had beaten Akihiko! Just then, his grandparents turned and announced that he had won. Victory! Botan was amazed. He had won! Bo watched his cousin wink at his grandparents. That was it. “Hey!” He shouted. “That’s not fair!” He complained. “You said you liked both of ours! I’m not scared!” He yelled. “I don’t care if you like Akihiko’s better, but at least say it!” Botan continued to be brave throughout the time he was home. Working hard to complete pranks that other children would have backed out on, like sneaking into the kitchen and making breakfast for Akihiko, but injecting the fruit with food coloring. When the two boys would go out, Akihiko would always be the one everyone talked to. Botan made a group of friends, but they were all muggle. The group often found Akihiko tagging along, as he had nothing else to do. The group always pranked neighboring kids, and made mischief. One day when Botan was seven years old, he had a new idea for a prank. All he had to do was get one of his friends to buy a flower pot that matched his neighbors and plant different seeds in them. The pot was bought, and seeds were as well. They grew the seeds for a while, and when it was time to do the swap, Botan volunteered. No one else wanted to get caught. He wasn’t even afraid. Botan brought the seeds and the pot, and went up to the house and swapped the two pots. He even had the guts to sprinkle some of their leftover seeds on the flowerbed, and slip away unseen. Botan was their fearless leader after all. It was his job. WC:427 |
| Reducio Botan is an interesting boy. As a young child he was always pressured by his parents. They wanted him to be better than his charming cousin Akihiko. Akihiko always won over others. He was smarter, and in some situations, just better than Botan. What ever Botan did to one up Aki, just never worked. Until his father sat him down. “Botan. You need to do better. Why is Akihiko always beating you at… everything?” “I-” Botan stammered. What he meant to sat was something along the lines of I’m doing my best, but Akihiko is just better. Or maybe I’ll do better. But no. Botan just sat there, stuttering at his father. “Its because you don’t study. Don’t practice. Don’t put in any effort.” His father continued. “Come on son, do better.” his father added. At this moment, Botan’s heart was completely crushed. Shattered into a million pieces like a piece of hard candy that has been stomped on. But two of his fathers words were stuck in his head. Do better. Do better. Botan was trying. He was practicing. But it just wasn’t enough for his demanding family. From that day on, Botan knew he needed to find another way, even if it wasn’t right. His new way was cheating. Finding loopholes. Sneaking around. And for some horrible reason it actually sort of worked for him. About 25% of the time Botan would get away with it. And it pleased his dark and cold heart. Very few had peeled back the layers and reached the warm core that disagreed with his choices. If they saw him now, they would ask him why he was doing it. But Botan was getting away with it, so he continued. One day when Botan and Akihiko were home, the decided to play a round of a basic version of quidditch, with one hoop, and only the quaffle. They agreed on first to 100 would win, and the loser would have to give the winner a stack of chocolate frogs. Their grandparents were sitting outside, supervising the boys and making sure no one got hurt, and that it was an honest game. About halfway through, Botan was losing pretty hard to Akihiko, and Botan was determined to win. Not for the chocolate frogs, but mainly for the bragging rights. He just wanted to win one thing against Aki. During a round of play, Botan grabbed the quaffle and bumped Aki into their makeshift quidditch hoop. Aki yelped in pain and flew over to his grandmother. When his grandparents were inspecting Akihiko, Botan snuck over to the score board and took a huge risk but taking 20 points off of Aki’s scoreboard. It was a huge risk on his part, but his mother had told him, high risk, high reward. For something that the rest of the world frowned apon, Botan did not find it that terrible. Actually it was pretty useful. It brought victory, and Botan liked to win. |

[arm wrestle with a squid]- [writing]
Explanation: [roleplay of charlie reading a new book.]

backdated to summer
Creaking open a small old dusty book found in the back of her father’s closet, Charlie felt the old paper that had yellowed extremely over the course of many many years. Charlie felt the pages, heavy with ink, and flipped through the pages. A fresh book. A muggle book. Charlie began to read.
Connor, a small boy, had set off on a mission. His father was a scientist who had dedicated his whole life to science. He barely had time for his own son Connor, often working overtime on his science experiments and projects. He had been working on this one for years. Discovering new species was the boy’s passion, and his father had been assigned to work on a case that revolved around a giant squid in the Pacific ocean. His father was selfish enough to send Connor down to do some deep sea research while Jack, Connor’s father, rested on the deck of the ship. Connor protested when he heard the news, but when his father objected, he decided that the outcome would be much better if he just agreed.
Connor suited up in heavy gear that would prevent him from drowning and allow him to breathe, but he knew that that wouldn’t be enough because of the temperature of the ocean, so he zipped up his wetsuit. His father handed him a camera capable of taking photos under water and wished him good luck in a cool voice. Sliding off the side of the boat and gently splashing into the water, Connor dove down. He swam and he swam, going deeper and deeper. His goal was to get in, find a squid, take photos, and get out. He knew that squids lived in the deep depths of the ocean, so Connor continued down, gripping the camera tighter and tighter, afraid he would lose it. When he finally made it deep enough, Connor kicked his feet and began to swim around, looking for the squid. He prayed that it would be around there somewhere, but when he was about to give up, something ablosultely massive swam by him and snatched… his camera.
Of all things. Connor knew he had to get his camera back, so he turned in the direction that it had come from and swam as fast as he could. Which wasn’t very fast. After getting very tired he noticed a cave. A very large one, actually. The other fish were avoiding it, so that meant one thing. Giant squid. He swam inside, looking for his camera but noticed other things. Spoons, photo frames, clothing, and much more, but they were all human things. Had the squid been collecting these things? Connor swallowed hard and continued in the cave. And he saw something. His camera. He swam over, hoping just to grab the camera and get out, but just as he reached out to actually grab the camera, something grabbed him from behind. The squid.
Knowing that this was a terrible outcome he shreeked.
Connor was done for. Or at least that's what he thought. “LET… ME… goooo!” He screamed, wriggling in the squid's tentacle that was wrapped around his body. I just want to get out of here! I’ll pay you! I don’t care! Just let me go!” What Connor was not expecting was a big booming voice to respond.
“What is this?” the voice said. Connor was so shocked that it took him a moment to respond.
“What? Oh… a picture frame.” He said to the voice which must have been coming from the squid. “It looks like the people are arm wrestling.” Connor added, then waited a while for the squid to respond.
“I will let you go if you beat me at arm wrestling. Properly.” It said.
“Okay.” Connor responded. The squid let go of Connor and they got into position. Connor explained some rules and off they went. Connor pushed his whole body weight, and somehow, won. Connor got the camera, which had miraculously been recording the whole time, said goodbye to the squid and left.
Charlie scoffed at the book and said aloud, “That, in a million years, would never ever happen. To anyone.”

[whomping willow dance]- [writing]
Explanation: [quick roleplay of charlie and the whomping willow]

Charlie set out on a nice walk to clear her head. She knew that it was normal to feel stressed, especially after just coming back to school for the fall. It was her second year, and the actual workload was growing, as she had less and less time to do the things she loved. Charlie made her way onto the crunchy gravel path that would eventually lead her to the grounds near the Quidditch pitch.
When she arrived, the Quidditch pitch was swarming with students trying to cram in another practice before the tryouts and the matches started up. As a keeper, it was her job to prevent the ball from going in the three hoops on her end of the Quidditch pitch. Shakining her head, she knew it was too busy to actually be productive, even though there weren’t a ton of keepers there. A sad smile grew on her face as she walked on towards the whomping willow. A mighty, strong, breeze whipped about, causing a chill to run through Charlie’s bones. But it did not stop her.
She continued on the path looking out for a small, smooth rock to potentially sit on. Many were occupied with students who were attempting to do some outdoor studying, but were tragically failing because the wind would cause them to have the need to chase their books or parchment that flew away in the wind. When Charlie finally spotted her rock, she picked up her pace from slow mosy, to speed walk. She plopped down on the rock, swinging her small backpack off of her back. She turned herself on the rock so she was perfectly positioned with the wind blowing her long chocolatey hair out of her face. She just happened to be facing the school and of course, the whomping willow.
The willow tree stood far enough away, but still close enough to see it doing its dance, branches swinging to the beat of each gust of the wind. For a while, She just sat, watching people move about, probably regretting their own decision to come out in the freezing cold wind even though it was only fall. She turned back to her backpack which was sitting beside her, and she stuck her hand inside, reaching for the small, green journal she rarely wrote in. She flipped to the next blank page towards the middle of the journal, and uncapped her black pen. She hovered over the page before deciding not to write. But to draw. Charlie began to shape a strong, dark trunk of the willow tree that appeared to be waving at her. Or doing some epic dance moves. Smiling, she began to draw the tree doing its moves, swishing and dancing in the wind.

[zonkos]- [writing]
Explanation: [short roleplay of Charlie’s first trip to Zonkos.]
Credits: [wc: 482]]
backdated to first year
Her very first trip to the local Zonkos Joke shop was in her very first year. Actually her first trip to Hogsmade was in her first year. She had gotten a fake permission form from the Weasley Joke shop when she had gotten her school stuff, and signed it with her mum’s favorite quill. Charlie wasn’t technically allowed to use the quill because she knew what would happen if she broke it in any sort of way. One angry mum.
After an anticipated few days, the day she planned to visit Hogsmade finally rolled around. Charlie packed a small bag, and happily went out and successfully made it to Hogsmade. Looking around she was slightly overwhelmed with all of the people she saw, but she continued on because it would be suspicious if she randomly turned around and frantically ran back to the school. She first spotted a candy shop which she would definitely visit later.
A fun sign caught her eye. ”Zonkos.” she said aloud. A small, shy smile erupted on her face as she walked in to the door of the shop. Prank items lined the walls, and Charlie breathed in the slightly dusty smell as she continued farther in the shop. There were only a handful of people in the shop, shopping for the next prank job around Hogwarts, and luckily it was no one that Charlie knew. She continued throughout the shop, side-eying the Bewitched Pumpkin and then feeling the soft velvet of the Camo Cloak. She wasn’t really very interested in buying anything, she was just looking around. She turned and entered another asle and picked up a small bottle of ink. On the shelf it was labled invisible ink: A bottle of magical ink that transfigures anything written in it to become invisible. but the bottle was labled with one small word written in a loopy script. INK. Giving the bottle of ink a small shake, she watched as the ink swirled around and settled a moment later.
Placing the glass bottle back on the shelf, she continued down the asle. In the very corner of the asle was what she thought was just many messy scraps of parchment, but it was actually labeled Map of the underground of Hogwarts. a small description was next to it, but Charlie’s curiosity was too strong as she began to aggressively unfold the neatly folded parchment. An actual map of the Hogwarts basement appeared before her and she soaked it all in before attempting to fold the map back up and stuff it on the shelf. Charlie did one more lap around the store before getting extremely bored and headed right towards the door. She stll had to explore the rest of Hogsmade anyway, so she power walked out and back on to the somewhat crowded street of Hogsmade.
