Julia couldn't quite believe the scene in front of her. She sat unmoving on her broom watching it unfold as Gryffindor after Gryffindor fell off their brooms. Only her and Ying remained in the air and with a jolt she realised she wasn't making any progress. She was sure soon enough she would be knocked off her own broom and she needed to get as far as she could before it happened. Almost as if she'd summoned an attack, she watched as Kyle, who she'd basically been targeting the whole race was attempting to blatch. Thankfully she dodged it, but she had to remain vigilant.

Aurora Ranvier and ex-racing captain, George Henry, must have shared some of the same blood- or at the very least, some of the same mind. Badger and bird were of similar philosophies: if you can't beat them, then at least make their encounters with you the most tedious thing they'd face on the track. George's prodding stick of choice had been a pestilent combination of Alarte Ascendare and Descendo; which proved a highly effective pairing when it worked- and, it did in fact work, as Xailah had the misfortune of finding out. Getting yoyo-ed around wasn't exactly her idea of a good time, which was saying something. Even recalling the thought was exhausting.

Aurora on the other hand, dipped into a far less flashy and much more practical way of dealing with the opposition. Again. Yes, another blatch was underway. No, Xailah would not evade this one either. It would seem Aurora found herself a trick that worked; and since house Ravenclaw was notorious for how much they liked their routines, Xailah would place a safe bet that the move would be getting more use farther down the track.

On the ground for a second time, and still having not made much progress on the track, the lioness would do as she had done before: gather her senses, look for her broom. At least she still had her wand this time.

Paige was surprised with how much progress she had made in that one round, but she wasn't going to complain. She just hoped it would stay that way as she progressed through the rest of the course. However, chances were very slim. It was a dangerous course, and this was her very first race. She looked around at the rest of her opponents. She was shocked when she noticed how many were left - and she was one of them.

The spell landed, and Ari felt a smile spread across his face. Hitting the target was never an easy feat when zooming through an obstacle course on a broom, but you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride when you would find success. That went for any broom racer. Now with most of Gryffindor riding the struggle bus, maybe a win would be easier to snag for Ravenclaw.

Bloom had to find the strength. She needed to get out of the Whomping Willow's grasp, and it wasn't just because she wanted to help win the race. The amount of pain she got from this tree was excruciating. It wasn't just any other punch. Bloom tried to find an out, she looked around and thought she was able to make it out of the Whomping Willow, but it was not the case. What she thought was an exit strategy, had only made it worse for her. The willow's branches grabbed onto Bloom and whacked her yet again. "AHHHHHHH" she screamed once more, feeling a bit weak.
