A spark of pride burst through her as she heard the- commentator?- announce her hit, and she continued flying through the course, hoping to catch up with those in front of her. She flew through the waterfall, flinching at the cold water drenching her in the already cold temperatures. Then came the Hard Narrow passageway, which she tried to squeeze through. Noticing she was falling behind, Julia gritted her teeth and tried again.

Ari kicked himself for allowing his mind to get distracted. This race was a very serious matter, and his squirrel brain finding something else to focus on wasn't going to help Ravenclaw win in the long run. He gently patted his face to wake him up then made himself comfortable and got on the move again. He needed to keep his head in the game.

Speed wasn't the only thing on Bloom's mind. She not only was speeding to the end, but also needed to slow down her opponent. She quickly took her wand and pointed it to one of the Gryffindors that were nearby. She casted the summoning spell, aiming for the broom and immediately, it worked. The broom was taken from under the lion. As she was making her way through the units, she realized that a scratch had been done. Ignoring it, Bloom kept going.

With ease, she was able to redirect her broom and head clean through the water, leaving that blue blur in her wake. Ok, it was freezing. Who put this waterfall here? It was bit bumpy in the narrow passageway, but she was able to maintain her speed. Bruises healed. But suddenly, she lost the thread of her thoughts—Where was she? What part of the track? Who were they competing against? It then came rushing back . . . mostly.

Ah! See, just as she suspected- her wand hadn't gone that far. She'd spy the dark splinter of wood nestled safely aloft a dappling of plush snow. It was a good thing she found it then, because she was half tempted to press onwards without it. How'd she fare in this race with such an important tool could have been anyone's guess, but she had enough confidence to entertain the thought. Hand splayed, and fingers stretched, she swooped down with raptor-like precision, snatching the instrument up in her talons as if it were a little prey animal awaiting capture.

With her wand back, she slipped the object into the slim leather holster resting on her hip; then taking the time to make sure the length of chestnut was secure, as to not risk another fumble. Having wasted enough time already searching for the thing along with recovering her broom, a second slipup was not something she could afford.

Kicking off higher into the air, Xailah could see that her fellow racers were long gone. Well, for the most part. Surprisingly, there were a few she could make out in the distance- their forms small and grey against the lazy snowfall. Maverick Castle appeared unmoving. Perhaps something was hindering him? Xailah squinted in an effort to find a potential cause, but found nothing particularly out of the ordinary. However, she would acknowledge how much ground she needed to cover in order to catch up with the rest of her pride. Better start moving.
