Only a Ravenclaw would be rewarded with... Errand

For a moment, Phaedra believed her attempts at searching for any additional bodies to be futile. In the few moments she had set off alone to search among the piles, she realised that the library was more and more resembling its original state, and the once trapped people were being accounted for and dragged to safety by her housemates. Desiring to still be as helpful as possible, she returned to her corner of the library after her quick scan to fix up the leftover books with loose covers.

With a concentrated expression, Phaedra found a roll of masking tape, pinched at its sticky corner, and pulled it back to a considerable length. After breaking off a segment, she swiftly attached the long piece to a wonky book spine. Gradually, more and more strips joined it to form an adequate quick-fix around the book. Unappealing, but it would have to do.

As she did this, she could not help the sensation of her fingers wanting so desperately to inch towards her wand. It was incredibly foreign to her, having to resort to muggle means for fixer solutions. But then again, many of the books probably felt violated enough; it was no secret that they sometimes behaved as living things, charmed with their own destructive tendencies in the matter of defacement. An instance of magic surely would have just made things worse, especially since magic caused the mess to begin with. It was unfortunate how a few bad apples ruined things for the rest, but the group was so close to finishing now...

Phaedra placed this book at the top of a stack and moved onto another book. Ripping a new piece of tape, the familiar voice of a certain blonde called out to her from the distance. Immediately, Phaedra sat down the book and turned her head around to find the sound. "Um, Dymphna?—" she started, legs taking her in the general direction. "Is that you?"

Clearly, Phaedra was not the only one with that idea in mind, as two other girls from what she could see also decided to approach her. Three may have been overkill, but after seeing a family "friend" stuck under a collapsed pile and another dorm mate also working to free her, Phaedra bent down to help speed up the process, tossing books behind her at a speed that she would probably regret later.

It didn't take much digging until Dymphna's skin and hair were visible again. As Celynne offered to help, Phaedra piped up her approval. "You might as well go," she said to the Teague girl, still kneeling. "Sounded painful. Looks like the infirmary is gonna be packed tonight, so you'd better get there now." She stood and dusted off her skirt before turning to walk towards the library entrance. Forget the books— there were bodies still accumulating, but could she manage to carry one?

Only a Ravenclaw would be rewarded with... Errand
Dymphna Teague was stacking books, some of the books were thin and flimsy but most were heavy, bound in leather and possessed the heft most would expect from a textbook. Stacked one upon the other until a tower was formed, likely multiple as a girl can only reach so high. The stacks would lean a bit, as tall stacks often would, a precarious placement of dozens of hefty tomes. An errant elbow, a clip on the corner of one of the books, one publication too many, was all it would take for everything to come crashing down. It was a matter of time truly.

As the delicate balance was disturbed, the towers swayed. Tumbling down came a deluge of writings. Some bludgeoned, some poked but all of them weighed upon her. The unfortunate Ravenclaw was forced to the ground, the disaster announced by the sound of the crashing books. Pinned beneath the pile Dymphna would call out:

"Bloom? Cel? Phae?"

Someone please help her. Her voice muffled, her presence unseen but not unheard. She had gotten the attention of three students.

"Um, Dymphna?—"

Phaedra Stavrou called out. Like the rest, she was drawn to the distressed Ravenclaw's voice.

"Is that you?"

Dympha called out a second time:

"Anyone? I'm under here!"

Allie Jones would be the first to hear her voice, the first to respond. She was simply meandering around the library, picking up stray books about the periphery when she heard the girl cry out. The first told her which aisle and the second gave her a closer approximation. Beneath a mound of books that looked suspiciously similar to all of the other piles of books. The voice was muffled but it was certainly there.

"Oh my god, are you okay?!"

The girl exclaimed as she hurried over to the pile of books and began to move them off of the girl that was trapped underneath.

"How did this happen?"

Ariella Paige was dealing with a disaster of her own as she and a young man recovered an unconscious student from beneath another pile of books. The male Ravenclaw who almost had a 'moment' with Samna Moore before the call to be a hero distracted him, hoisted the young unconscious student up and carried the student to the infirmary. Solomon looked like he was about to have a heart attack, the pallor of his skin, the sweat on his brow as he was assisting the clean up in another part of the grand space but not getting very far as everything started to go wrong. Not to claim that Solomon was entirely innocent of deviant behavior in the past or the present, but often the greatest of catastrophes were not his doing. It was as if a dark cloud of misfortune hung over his head.

The easiest answer was no longer take the injured to the hospital wing but rather bring the wing to the students. Even the clean-up crew was getting injured as he noticed Allie attempting to rescue Dympha.  The students needed to get out of here, their knack for nearly dying was only outdone by their knack for finding trouble  thus far. He should have gotten the House Elves to help, so in a way the headmaster was partially responsible as well. He should have known that these students would nearly get themselves killed in a pillow factory, never-mind a place that is a present hazard.

Celynne Gray would pull a body along, it belonged to an unconscious Slytherin that was also initially missed by the first respondents of the incident. Solomon, unfortunately not among the first respondents because he suffered injuries taking the brunt of the weight of the bookshelf that came crashing down on himself and the Ravenclaw girl that had just ran from the room, hopefully to get medical attention for the rest of the students. Celynne would deposit the unconscious student that she had dragged across the floor, between hills of books through which would would have to weave in and out. It was an effort meant for someone stronger than Celynne perhaps but she was the one there.

Solomon's gut was through the floor. The reckless encounter between the four students in this library only hours before had not only placed themselves in peril but also a number of innocent bystanders. He felt hollow, his limbs heavy and shaking as he knelt next to the student. He did not recognize the kid but he knew most of them. The face was not too dramatized but there were a number of cuts and scrapes, bruises on the arms and the legs. He likely protected his torso and his face during the avalanche. He wondered if the student hit his head when the weight of the books threw him to the ground. Solomon felt hollow inside, sick in fact. He was no stranger to death, this kid is only a few years older than his daughter would have been had she survived. "Wake up kid," Solomon growled in a low voice but in truth it was more a plea.

Solomon, like most adult wizards understood the basics of first aid with his wand. but his head was full, his inner voices were screaming. He could not concentrate and for a moment he forgot the words. A moment of panic and deeper dismay consumed him as his mouth uttered the incantation.

There were happy endings for some, Samna had found a nice boy that was potentially interested in her. Dymphna was saved by the power of friendship and the ability to lift books. Celynne accompanied Allie and Phaedra came last; through their combined effort they would find first a hand, then the opposite leg. She must have been facing the other way. Her face. Dymphna would be able to breathe a breath of fresh air, not that she was at any risk of suffocating beneath the air from air-tight structure that was that mound of books that had pinned her, the lack of ode to musky tome was likely welcomed.

"Are you all right? Maybe you should go to the Hospital Wing too."

Celynne recommended, her concerns valid. What if Dymphna suffered some sort of head injury making her the dumbest Ravenclaw, a feat and a position already claimed by Kaegan Deathmote and likely jealously guarded.

"Maybe I could... help? Help you get to the Hospital Wing, I mean."

Celynne offered. A wise plan considering the disasters were still being discovered and the library was not safe for them. Not yet in any case. Solomon would of course let out a sigh of relief once Dymphna was recovered, there might have been some Latin swearing involved that came from a place of relief.

"You might as well go."

Phaedra concurred with Celynne. Who knows what sort of injuries she might have suffered, it was better to be safe than sorry.

"Sounded painful. Looks like the infirmary is gonna be packed tonight, so you'd better get there now."

Moreover, she would want to be certain that they had a bed for her if she did need to stay under the watchful eye of the nurse.

One of the school nurses would arrive, with all of the chaos one could hardly even hear the sounds of her shoes pounding the long hallway leading up to the library from the stairs. Breathlessly she would mutter something to do with Merlin and then Catholic religious mythology as she got an eyeful of the student left by the door that Solomon was attempting to attend to. Solomon was doing what he could to stabilize the kid while not leaving the students to their own devices in what was now an obvious death trap. "For Merlin's sake, help the kid Bekkah," Solomon ordered/begged the nurse.

Healing magics came easier to some than others, perhaps due to the wand, training, a natural propensity or simply practice. It did not take much more than a flick of the wand and a simple word to heal the student's superficial injuries. Her brow furrowed slightly, the boy did not rouse.

"We... need to get everyone out of here."

She announced with a grim tone as her middle and pointer finger compressed the child's carotid artery. He still had a pulse, but he was still unconscious. Without the injuries it would look as if the student was sleeping, nothing more.

What is it?

Solomon mouthed, not verbalizing the words. The nurse simply shrugged, she had no idea. Today was simply getting worse and worse. Solomon planted his hands on his thighs and with a grunt he stood upright. He cleared his throat. Many of the students were gathering closer to the door, some had run off with other fallen students, some to get help. A great many of the books were organized, missing pages at the very least placed adjacent and ripped covers taped back on. Far from an idea state but would be effective until they were able to cast reparo on these damaged items. One still required the item to repair it.

"The nurse is here!" Solomon bellowed, announcing the nurse's presence. The was a pretty, young thing in her mid to late twenties with long, straight red hair and glasses that made her green eyes look even bigger. Her face was sprinkled with freckles and she was dressed simply in white robes. "Anyone that is injured, head to the Hospital Wing to be assessed if you can walk," Solomon continued. "And-- if you are feeling unusually sleepy, disoriented or confused... please see us," Solomon added. He made it sound more like the symptoms of a head injury, which it was likely that the symptoms were of. But they were also signs of declining mental status, not that he was a medic, but he was an experienced adult who had seen a fair number of injuries in his day. "Please be careful, and do not knock over any of the piles of books. I don't think we have enough--" he cut himself short. He should not be complaining, the kids, the very accident-prone kids, were just trying to help and they did a good job. "Just be careful," his tone laced with concern. The kids were getting hurt even in the wake of the masked boy and the ne'er do well that was formerly roaming these grounds. "The House Elves will be here soon, they will finish things up," Solomon concluded as he watched and internally prayed to a God he did not believe in at the very least and at worst did not trust and waited for the students to leave.

Solomon would thrust his hand into his pocket. Well his pants beneath the armor he was wearing over his thighs and produced a stack of rare chocolate frog cards. Apparently the Headmaster had a bit of a sweet tooth, it would have taken him a few thousand chocolate frogs to produce that many rares. He would hand cards out to the students as they left with a verbal thank you accompanied by a you should get looked at by the nurse when you have time or a are you certain you are OK? For those that did not get cards as they left, he would place them on their dormitory door in an envelope with their name on it and the simple statement: with gratitude.
