Elena took the sheet of paper and smiled at Sapphire, looking a little bit terrified of the duo still, "Thanks."

The speed of the piano was good enough for Elena, even if she'd never played the piece before her ability to read and interpret musical notes was pretty good, "Yes, that's a good speed for me, if you're all okay with that."

"I um, I like brownies, and those little lava cake things they had last month." Elena noticed the others start playing and so started to play herself. The girl couldn't manage to focus on the sheet music, instead glancing around the room and checking the paper every few seconds. It still sounded pretty good, just not as good as a practiced piece would, Elena tried to lose herself in the music like she usually did, and after a minute the usual little flourishes Elena added reappeared.

It wasn't the dancing Elena normally did, but the blue haired girl swayed a little bit, the music was slower than her usual stuff and so the leg kicks she used when playing viola and fiddle would be out of place. The shadows receded a little bit when Elena couldn't quite focus on them, and playing music from cold reading was definitely taking up enough of her focus to stop them.

Hopefully her paranoia would be eased afterwards too.

I'm weak my love.

Koko slowly hit an arpeggio on the last chord of the song, her chest heaving. She usually wasn't out of breath whenever she did anything slightly musical, but today the Slytherin was very tired. "That was beautiful," Koko panted. She was about to roll up the sleeves of her robes before she realized that she could just take the annoying garments off, so that was what she did. She sat them on the edge of the piano bench. "Do either of you know any songs that have lyrics? I'm not the best singer, but I could definitely try. If you have any other instruments that don't require your lips or face, you could sing as well." Koko shot a small and controlled smile at the blue-haired girl, Elena, and another one at Sapphire.

Koko tapped a key, which even though she wasn't looking, she could tell it was a D. She was good with pitch sometimes. Other times, not so much. She leaned back off of the bench, just a little so that she didn't fall off, but enough so that she wasn't hunched over anymore. Koko could feel her tired, pale hands trembling, but not out of nervousness, no. Perhaps it was because the child was excited. She certainly felt like something particularly interesting might happen.

She stretched out her left leg, lightly touching the damper pedal with the tip of her foot, and she relaxed. Swan Lake had been a very wonderful piece, but she was sure that the three of them could do much better. Koko began tapping a few chords belonging to the song Hall of Fame, one that her adoptive father and one of her American friends. often listened to. Beginning the lyrics, she sang in a very soft head voice, in the pianissimo range of dynamics, "Yeah, you can be the greatest, you can be the best. You can be the King Kong banging on your chest..."

OOC: Sorry for my late reply! Feel free to OOC or IC object to the song I chose. It just came on a playlist and I decided, "why not?"

Shay was passing by the rehearsal room when she heard a bit of singing coming from within. She recognized the song. It was "Hall of Fame" by "The Script". She inched closer to the door, laying her ear on the wood.

"Yeah, you can be the greatest, you can be the best, you can be the King Kong banging on your chest." A girl sang from inside. Shay placed her back to the door and without thinking, words came out of her mouth.

"You can beat the world, you can win the war. You can talk to God, go banging on his door. You can throw your hand up, you can beat the clock. You can move the mountain, you can break rocks." Her voice went louder on that last sentence. The room went quiet. She held her hand over her mouth and backed away from the door. What if she heard me? She thought. She fast walked her way back down the hall. All she could hear was the steps of her feet. Arg, that was so embarrassing! I don't think they saw me. What if they thought my singing was bad? She thought as she headed back to where she came from.

Another voice rang through the room, clear and echoing. "You can beat the world, you can win the war. You can talk to God, go banging on his door. You can throw your hand up, you can beat the clock. You can move the mountain, you can break rocks."

Sapphire snapped her head in to direction of the door, but she didn't see anything. Huh, she thought. Then she sang the next lyrics, though much quietter. "You can be a master, don't wait for luck. Dedicate yourself and your gonna find yourself..." She trailed off. She didn't even think before she did that.

Idiot, she thought, you shouldn't do things like that. She was probably being a bit extreme with herself, but she still didn't think that she should have done that. She ducked her head, feathers of snowy white hair falling in her eyes.

She twisted her wand between her fingers, not raising her gaze. She was still a little bit paranoid, and she almost looked around the room for possible weapons, but she decided against it and fixated her eyes on the pattern of the carpet.

If there was any noise, she was tuning it out. She was focusing her thoughts on things like the work she still had to do. She wasn't sure what the reaction of the other girls would be. She probably didn't need to be worried, but she was nonetheless...

Here Shay was, finding herself carrying a stack of books across Hogwarts. Her brother, Lincoln, had asked if she had any book recommendations since she's known as the bookworm, and Shay said she had plenty. Eight, five-inches thick books, either mystery, fantasy, crime, or adventure.

Her shoes tapped the floor in a one-second beat. "Tip, tap, tippy, tap," it went. The books wobbled a little, though Shay kept her balance. She came to a three-way turn. She turned right. As she continued walking, she recognized the hall. She took a pit-stop and turned her head. There it was, the rehearsal room. She remembered earlier when she'd accidentally sang out loud, singing "Hall of Fame" by "The Script". As she did, she could feel her face get red from the embarrassment. She stopped thinking about it.

Shay was about to carry on, but she heard something from inside. It sounded like a stick being fiddled with. She wanted to inch closer, but her foot slipped, causing her to fail, cartoon style. Her books crashed to the floor and Shay landed on her butt.

"Ow..." Shay grumbled. Just then, the fiddling noise stopped inside. Shay had realized that she'd just shown herself to whoever was inside the rehearsal room. She froze for a second. Her brain finally had enough sense to start picking the books up, one by one. They weren't easy to pick up, being five inches thick and all.

A loud crash sounded just outside of the rehearsal room. Sapphire looked up, and she could see another girl, Hufflepuff, on the ground, with 8 books fallen on the floor. The girl was trying to pick the books up, but they were thick and she seemed to be having a bit of trouble.

Sapphire set her wand down slowly, before walking over to the girl in the hall and crouching down, picking up a few of them and putting them in a small stack. "You okay?" the white haired girl said quietly, as the other girl had inadvertently indicated that she'd experienced a bit of pain. If anything, it was probably just a bruise, but it would still hurt either way.

She examined the girl, as she picked up another book. The Hufflepuff, who had jade greenish eyes, the color that you would normally associate with summer, and caramel hair, looked slightly embaressed. Sapphire shrugged it off. "So... What are you doing over here? Why do you have all of the books?" Sapphire asked, generally curious.

She held the books she'd picked up out to the girl, standing up as she did so. The other girl seemed like she wanted to be somewhere else. I wonder why...

Shay knew this happened in TV shows and cartoons, but she never thought it'd happen in real life. The cliche of when someone falling all dramatic, then being helped by a really nice looking person. Shay studied the girl. Her hair was as white as the winter snow, her eyes like the depths of the ocean. She came out of the rehearsal room, so obviously she was the one fiddling with the stick like thing, then Shay began to wonder. Was she the one who heard her singing earlier? Oh gosh, that'd be an awkward talk.

"You okay? So... What are you doing over here? Why do you have all of these books?"

Shay paused picking up her fourth book. She looked up at the girl, "Oh, I'm fine... I was delivering these books to someone, they asked for any recommendations and know I'm a bookworm. Sorry for the inconvenience." Shay picked up her fifth book. Both, the girl and Shay, finished picking up the books. The girl also helped Shay stack them more safely.

"So, what're you doing here. Are you practicing an instrument or something?" Shay asked, without thinking about it. She hoped the girl wouldn't bring up the topic of when she accidentally sang out loud. Shay definitely didn't want to think about it, and she wasn't any better at explaining it either, not even to herself.

"Oh, I'm fine... I was delivering these books to someone, they asked for any recommendations and know I'm a bookworm. Sorry for the inconvenience," said the girl. Sapphire nodded in awknowledgement.

"So, what're you doing here. Are you practicing an instrument or something?" said the caramel haired girl. Sapphire looked at her, blue eyes gleaming.

"Well, I wouldn't call it practicing... I'd gone in there to play my flute, yeah, and it ended up being me, my sister, and another girl named Elena," she said. She was genuinely curious about the girl who'd dropped the books, and her voice was vaguely familiar.

"Who are you?" she asked, trying to keep her words from sounding harsh. "Can you play an instrument?" She'd started to interrogate the other girl, which she tended to to.

The white haired girl was purely curious, since there weren't many people that she'd talked to this year. The other girl looked like a first year, she observed, so she probably wasn't that much older than Sapphire. "What do you think of Hogwarts, and your house?" she asked.

She didn't think that the questions would be to intrusive, and they flowed right out of her mouth anyway, so it wasn't like she could stop them. She couldn't help it. Her curiousity got the best of her in these situations.

"Well, I wouldn't call it practicing... I'd gone in there to play my flute, yeah, and it ended up being me, my sister, and another girl named Elena," The girl had answered.

Shay looked up. Flute, interesting. Shay had taken thought of doing flute, but, the cello came more naturally and fun. She's glad she made that decision, she wouldn't trade her cello for any other instrument.

"Can you play an instrument?" This time the girl was the one who asked a question.

"Hm? Oh, uh, yeah. I play the cello. It's interesting you play the flute. I almost considered it, but ended up falling in love with the cello. How the bow glides across the strings as you maneuver your wrist forward and backward... oops sorry, I'm blabbering on again." She replied. Shay always was a big talker, never knowing when to shut up. Her muggle friends complained all the time about it.

"What do you think of Hogwarts and your house?" The girl asked curiously, staring at Shay with her big blue eye.

"Ah, well, I think it's great. Hogwarts has so many halls and passageways, you get lost easily, but, that's how you find your way around I guess. I got into Hufflepuff and they seem really nice. It's peaceful, quiet, sometimes, and just fun to be around. Oh, I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. My name's Shay, Shay Hickerson. Yours?" Shay asked, still carrying the stacked books, standing outside the rehearsal room, meeting possibly a new friend.

"Oh, my name is Sapphire. Sapphire Riddle," she said. "I've never really met anyone from Hufflepuff, except for a few kids here and there," she said.

She didn't really know anything about any of the other houses, to be honest. She was almost always reading a book and never really paying attention to the world, unless she was focusing on a class. She knew a little bit about Ravenclaws, from what River had told her, but she didn't really know those kinds of things.

"It can definitely be confusing, that's for sure. Slytherin... I don't even know much about my own house, I'm always tuning out the world..." Sapphire said sheepishly.

How did she not even know much about her own house? If she was anywhere near normal, she would probably know everything she would need to to know about the present times."I tend to get sucked into whatever I'm reading or whatever I'm doing..."
