It was absolutely beautiful in the near empty room. the walls had grand columns, and the floor was covered in a lush red carpet. A microphone and headset had been hooked up to a small electrical outlet, while the girl alone in the room had unplugged a lamp.
Music was her therapy. There was an upright piano in the room, so she had her mic hovering over it, and, bending down, the first year slid the headphones over her pale ears. To the onlooker, she seemed very proud and perfect. Her hazel eyes were unemotional, but anything could have been hidden under the facade. Her thin red lips were twisted into a smirk, and her pale alabaster cheeks were rosy with a bit of makeup she'd put on earlier. Her caramel hair was curly because of the humidity outside. Her name was Koko Riddle.
She seemed content, for once. She hummed to herself as she sat down on the leather piano bench and set her fingers on the keys. She relaxed immediately, feeling completely at home. She pressed down on Middle C once, just to check the tuning of the instrument, but it sounded perfect. She then moved up to A flat, and began playing a tune with that. Koko started with an intro to a small composition she'd written, and soon enough she opened her mouth and started improvising with a few words.
Her singing voice wasn't horrible. In fact, it was better than most of the Muggles she'd known in London. With the acoustics in the room, she found that she was singing perfectly on-key and that her voice sounded rich. Her fingers played a melody that sounded too complex for only two hands to play, and her words strung together a dark and melancholy story that would pull at one's heartstrings had anyone been watching. Perhaps they were. For once, Koko was perfectly relaxed and happy. She was very musical, and she was good at her talent.
The music resonated around the large room, and surprisingly the carpet didn't soak up the sweet sound. Koko had a little bit to go, and she leaned back, not enough to fall off of the bench. She relaxed so much that if anyone had seen her before, they would doubt that she was the same person. Joy in her usually glassy or bitter hazel eyes, a genuine smile on her face, and a not-so stiff posture. She actually looked like a young girl singing like this.

Elena was itching to practice her flute. She’d used her viola and fiddle way too much recently and longed for the careful breathing and thinking required to make the instrument really sing. So as soon as she could Elena picked up her things and headed straight for the Rehearsal Room, it was time for some practice.
When she got there though, it was unusually actually in use, and the girl in question was playing a difficult piano piece. Sadly it was one that Elena either had never heard before, which was unlikely, or one that the girl at the piano had made herself. Elena assumed it was the latter, and it was very very good. The girl was obviously better than the average musician.
Elena Jones had come here for one reason, and for one reason only, to play her flute. So she decided to ask the other girl to maybe play something with flute music.
“Hi, that’s some gorgeous music you’re playing, is there any flute music for that? I’d like to play my flute today, it’s the whole reason I’m here. My name’s Elena, what’s yours?” She crosses her arms and leaned back, looking curiously at the other girl.

Sapphire couldn’t take it anymore. Even if she’d sworn to her twin sisters, who she hated, she was so bored. She grabbed her bag, stuck her flute case in the bag, and walked up all the stairs to the rehearsal room on the fourth floor, where she heard smooth, melancholy song coming from the piano, matched with the voice of… Koko? Sapphire hadn’t known the other girl played the piano. She began humming along with the music, the melodic sound matching the carmel haired girl’s voice as she walked up to the doorway, where another girl, also with a flute, had just finished talking to Koko. She just pushed past the girl, Elena, she thought, and stationed herself in a corner before she pulled out her flute. She glanced at the other two girls, and started playing a sad song she’d made up. That song fit her best, helped her make sense of her past. The acoustics in the room really were perfect for music, and she could see why people used it for the reason they did. She also found that the music calmed her, since she’d been so stressed out by lessons. She finished the song and slid down the wall before balling up in that corner. The only thing her music couldn’t do, was get rid of her demons, but she made the best of it, and channeled it into her music. Screw you cold-bloods, she thought, happy that she’d gone against them, even if just for once.

Koko let her hands drift away from the keys, a little surprised to spot other people here. “Of course, she said, getting up from her bench and grabbing a music stand. She rummaged around inside of the piano bench until she found some sheet music for flute, and a matching Grand Staff for the piano.
Another flutist had sprinted into the room, and Koko recognized her immediately. It was Sapphire. The white-haired girl whipped out her flute and put it to her open lips, playing a sad sounding rude that the acoustics amplified perfectly. A light smile spread across Koko’s face as she sat back on the bench, listening to the eerie sounding melody. “Excuse me,” she said to the blue haired girl, “but I don’t believe we’ve had a chance to introduce ourselves. I’m Koko Riddle,” and pointing at Sapphire, she added, “this is Sapphire.” Koko was tapping her feet lightly on the piano’s pedals. She put her hands on the area of the keyboard that would be needed for the flute music she’d set on the music stand, and finally she checked her key signature again. It was B flat Major. Smiling to herself, once Sapphire was done, Koko pressed down the first key.

The Rehearsal Room was certainly a good place to meet other people, maybe because all musicians loved the damn place. It was more popular than even the Great Hall, which was weird, Elena then realised she'd never even talked to anyone in the great hall. Koko Riddle was a cool name, it made her think of Batman comics, Elena had always liked Scarecrow best. The idea of seeing your greatest fear was the best power, as soon as she'd found out about boggarts she started to wonder if she could maybe make fear gas using them. Then instantly figured out that that was a bad idea, and started dreading what she'd see. Because in all honesty she was most afraid of herself.
"Elena." She nodded, "Elena Jones, it's nice to meet you two."
She smiled at the one holding the flute, Sapphire, "Oh! Do you play flute too? That's so cool, it would be nice to play some pieces together sometime. So, Koko, what music do you have there?"
Elena opened her flute case and carefully made sure everything was screwed in place before trying a few practice notes, the flute was luckily still fine. So she smiled at the other two, "What's the plan? Anything in particular you two want to play or..."

"Well..." Koko thought for a moment. She loved to play classical pieces on the piano, but wasn't sure what the other two musicians preferred. "Perhaps we could try Swan Lake?" she suggested. It was a song that she enjoyed listening to, as well as playing it.
Elena and Sapphire may not want to, though, she thought, as she flipped the book to the page where the title was "Swan Lake--Peter Tchaikovsky." Her fingers lightly pressed the keys down as she quickly played the first two lines. "We don't have to play it if you don't want to," she said quietly, "But I'm fine with anything."
The room's warm lights made her skin look much less pale, and somewhat tanned from the way it reflected her amber hair. The room's aroma of one of her favorite scents, that of a bookstore. A little musty, but full of open possibilities, of which she'd been in need. Koko absently tapped the E flat key as she waited, not impatiently, but energetically. She never had this much excess energy. It was odd how alive music made her feel. Alive and well. As she'd thought earlier, music was her therapy. It had just finally occured to her, how true that was.
I'm so sorry this is so late! I've been having trouble replying to RPs early because I've been a little busy recently, but I can try to be a lttle faster.

Sapphire had never tried to play Swan Lake, she hadn't even touched an instrument in 2 years. She fingered the smooth glass flute in her hands. She'd never considered going against her oath. But something about the idea of playing the song intrigued her. "Sure, I don't see why not," she said, glancing at Elena. She was more or less waiting for an opinion because she was trying to avoid some sort of angry explosion, which she had experience with. She set down the flute and twirled her wand around her fingers. I didn't think things could even change for me this much, she thought. Though she didn't really have any friends in her mind, she was talking to people, though she had half expected her voice to not even work. "Of course, I don't stand for everyone," she added. She quickly glanced down at her fingers and stopped her moving fingers. Her eyes turned the color of blood for a split second before returning to their normal, shining blue, and she hummed an old song-- Demons, she thought. She started twirling her wand again but stopped when she almost poked her eye out. Note to self: Don't twirl your wand because for one, it's not a typical wand motion, and on another note, it is not safe, she thought before she went still, controlling her ADHD, and waited.

Elena smiled and tapped the side of her flute, "Swan Lake, sounds like fun. I'm ready whenever you are, as long as I have some sheet music. I don't really know many classical pieces off by heart. It's mostly pop music, a bit of alternative..."
She coughed, not really used to being around many other musicians, she tended to flee the Enchanted Souls meetings as fast as possible and tried to only use the rehearsal room when nobody else was there. Her introversion was warring with her innate desire for more friends, more family. These girls seemed nice, and talented. Talent also tended to scare Elena, a better performer meant less money for her, which meant less food for her. It was hard to get rid of the creeping feeling that if she wasn't the best then she'd never be able to survive.
She'd played Swan Lake once before, it was an audition for a travelling orchestra. Elena hadn't made it in of course, she'd been beaten by the kids with world class tutors, and all the ones with their own compositions. She'd lost out on escape by one ranking, and had slunk away from the auditorium, sad and wishing against hope that she'd be left alone.

Sapphire nodded at Elena and stood up, going over to grab some sheet music. As she riffled through the pages, looking for the right one, memories came flooding back to her, though it was only bits and pieces. One, she was a small child again, about 2 years old, and quarreling (as much as a 2 year old could) with another girl with blondish ginger hair. Another, she saw two people, supposedly her parents, who were dead in the memory, as tears swam in the eyes of the child, who was about 3 in the memory. She realized that she had stopped looking and had tears swimming in her own eyes. She shook her head, shaking the images away. She didn't have time for remorse and dwelling on the long forgotten past. She grabbed two copies of the sheet music and walked back over, handing one to Elena, and keeping the other for herself, before walking over to where she'd set down her wand and flute, picking up her flute and putting the sheet music on a stand. She acted like she was in the present, but something bothered her about those memories, something that she hadn't thought about in a long time. She could only hope that she wouldn't be haunted by nightmares. So, she did the sensible thing. She started to play.

Koko handed out the sheet music and then sat down at the piano bench, adjusting it slightly to meet her requirements. She made sure the pedals worked, pressing lightly on the damper and then on the two sustain pedals. The room had gotten quiet after Elena had given her consent to play Swan Lake...
Koko pressed the first key, but she realized that she didn’t know what speed the others would go at, o she played a small hart of it at a moderate speed first. ”is that okay?” She asked.
She could practically smell the brownies that she might find a way to treat everyone to after this. Sweet, rich chocolate, which she really wanted just now. Yes, chocolate was her main vice.
”Before we start, what’s your favorite dessert?” she inquired of the others. Just a little knowledge never hurt anyone, especially if it was knowledge about food! Like, if some cookies and milk or candy were poisonous, shouldn’t one have the right to know!?! Not that Koko would ever poison milk and cookies. She didn’t have the materials. Maybe one day she could do it and make an antidote! But wasn’t there already an antidote for everything? A bezoar, wasn’t it? Koko sighed, setting her fingers to the keys once again, as she’d been unaware that her hands had left them to go tap on the edge of the piano pench.
Sapphire had already started playing, it seemed, so Koko found where the white-haired girl was and she began to join in the tune. This was one of her favorite classical pieces; especially because she looked slightly less terrible while dancing it. Koko was a horrid dancer. One good step, one bad step, one perfect step, and then she fell. That was why she had joined the dance club, so that she could learn how to dance more gracefully.
Koko finally tor her gaze away from her sheet music as she looked around the room, still letting her fingers move and touch the keys she knew they would hit. The flutists seemed so elegant with their instruments; Koko could only imagine what she looked like playing hers—an angry gorilla bashing her hands down on the Ivories. She smiled finally her odd little visual and went back to her sheet music, soaking in the sound of the music.
