║ Minnie stopped her worried thoughts when she heard Kaitlyn's reply. She doesn't mind. She thought. It's all fine. She breathed a sigh of relief. "I..thanks Kaitlyn." Which was when she realized she was stuttering. Chocolate Frogs! I hope she didn't notice. She's not the one worrying me at all, I don't want her to feel like she is. I bet she noticed. Minnie bit her lip.
"Well. When I'm nervous and stressed I usually read in bed with my stuffed animals," She blushed admitting that, "and I draw or write...sometimes I do a song or a poem. But reading helps the most." She told her. That sounded babyish. Her dark voice came back, reawakened after her stress came back. She had managed to keep it away for a while, but now she didn't have the energy to think happy thoughts. Minnie shook her head, focusing on talking to Kaitlyn. She forced a smile on her face and continued to dance.
What are you nervous about? Kaitlyn is a good friend. She thought about the question Kaitlyn had asked. Well...I think I'm worried about the fact that she'll think I'm weird. But I don't think she minds. It could be him....but no. I'll tell her it's all my fault. She told herself, squaring herself for the talk.
"Well...I mean..." She stopped, realizing she was stuttering. "I was a little worried that you would mind my weirdness and clumsiness. But I really doubt you do. And..." She stopped, not wanting to say it. Minnie repressed a sigh. Why does it seem like I'm always telling her about my problems whenever we meet? That has got to be annoying for her.
She looked away from Kaitlyn, blushing. "And..." She began again. Her mouth formed the words but she couldn't bring herself to say them. "I wish I could dance better to impress you. And I should have made something for you, I can tell how hard you worked on my gift. I just gave you a bit of candy." Telling her made her feel better even though it wasn't what she had intended to say. I guess I really do wish I could give her something. I'll surprise her later I think. With a drawing of this and a bag of caramel frogs. It's going to be a little hard, but it'll be worth it to make her as happy as she's made me. Minnie smiled wider, her plan formed. "But it's fine. I just want to dance with you anyways."Minnie's dance partner is Kaitlyn Connor║

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn flushed lightly at Minnie’s words. “Aw, you have stuffed animals, too? I brought two with me in my dorm. I don’t think it’s anything to be ashamed about,” she added, giving Minnie a reassuring smile. A happy sparkle shined in her eyes. “You write songs and poems? You’re so creative,” she gushed. She smiled happily to Minnie. “I only asked to see if there was any activity you were willing to do together with me. I feel bad if you’re nervous around me. And, even if you’re not nervous, I’d love to share more activities with you,” she replied with a bright smile. “And yes, we can totally play with stuffed animals together. I think it’s cute,” she giggled. ‘Oh my God, can Minnie get any cuter? I love that she plays with stuffed animals, and admitted it to me. And she writes, in addition to draws. Even I don’t draw attention to my squishmallows in my dorm. She’s the perfect friend for me! I’d love to be best friends with her,’ she thought.
“Could you imagine … drawing something like this?” She asked Minnie, a light flush on her cheeks. She looked around the room, then back at Minnie. “I think I’d be magical,” she giggled, and looked down at her feet. She looked up at Minnie and smiled to her. “How come every time I see you, I never have my sketch pad with me? I’d like to show you my drawings … and … well, I’m not against drawing people,” she added, shyly.
As Minnie tried to explain her feelings, Kaitlyn kept silent. She enjoyed showing Minnie that she listened, and cared. She liked being able to help Minnie with her problems, even if it was only to vent. She felt useful and needed. She continued to dance with Minnie, never letting he expressive blue eyes leave Minnie’s eyes. That was one aspect of her personality that she wanted to start using even more: wanting to help others. As much as she wanted to rely on Minnie’s advice, what would she vent? ‘Oh hey, I like girls?’ Or maybe something more embarrassing? ‘Oh hey, my heart’s confused by you?’ As much as she liked girls, she was way too scared to admit to that to Minnie.
Once she noticed her friend was finished, and waiting two beats afterward, Kaitlyn finally responded. “I like your weirdness. And your clumsiness just adds to it, too. It makes you unique. It makes you, you,” she replied. A bright flush appeared on her cheeks, but she still continued. “Minnie, I’ve been impressed with you, since we danced together here, alone. Don’t feel like you need to impress me. I … um … I like you the way you are,” Kaitlyn replied, her cheeks flushed. “And, I … I … I enjoy spending time with you,” she flushed even darker, looking down at her toes. ‘I should totally write this on her note for the cupcake I want to send her. She deserves happiness,’ she thought.
Kaitlyn looked back to Minnie and smiled brightly. “I completely agree! I want to dance with you, too,” she replied, happy that she could experience this with Minnie. She continued to dance with her friend, happy for this arrangement.Reducio

2, 4, 6, great! • threadAs they danced more and more, Ophelia felt herself get the hang of it. Dancing still wasn't her favorite thing, and she didn't foresee it becoming her favorite thing any time soon, but she felt herself grow comfortable at the thought of ballroom dancing.
Soon, they both grew tired of the fast pace, and retired to the sides of the room to cool themselves off. As Ophelia looked around, studying the other dancers' technique so that she could better her own, she lost her friend.
"Topaz? Where'd you go?" Though she didn't raise her voice too much, Ophelia was positive that her friend could've heard her calling if she was near. The Ravenclaw frowned, confused, as her Slytherin friend still didn't show up. After a few moments of looking around, the girl popped back over, now holding a macaroon. Ophelia laughed, realising where her friend had gone instantly.
They talked and laughed some more. "I didn't learn though I tried to teach myself it's been one of my hobbies and I enjoy it a lot!" Topaz said, when Ophelia asked her about her dancing skills.
Ophelia raised her eyebrows in surprise. Sure, she'd taught herself plenty of things by observing others or watching Muggle how-to videos, but dancing had always seemed like something that one needed an instructor for. Or maybe I didn't try hard enough to get the hang of it. Either way, she was glad that she understood how to dance now. "That's cool, really. Dancing is practically a life skill!"
And Ophelia meant it. She wasn't the best in social situations, because she'd usually clam up and stop talking, or talk too fast and awkwardly, but she knew that people danced for fun with their friends, and not knowing how to dance in those situations would be extremely awkward. "Do you just know how to do classical dancing or do you do other types too? I'm not much of a dancing expert, but I'd love to learn!" The words came out with earnest, but Ophelia didn't feel weird about it. She really did want to learn about the different dance forms and how each of them worked. And if Topaz was willing to teach her, then that was even better!

Blue in English, Red in KoreanEun-ji watched the other students dancing, feeling a pang of jealousy in her heart. As much as she enjoyed the scene, it saddened her that she couldn’t join in. Well…she could but that would mean socializing with other people, which just sounded exhausting. I should go, her brain warned her, not wanting to be noticed by the professors. They would probably throw her out if she lingered for much longer. Besides, she didn't want to disturb their teaching.
The Ravenclaw was about to turn around and leave when a familiar voice tickled her ears and successfully interrupted her melancholy mood. Wait…when did he even get here? Wasn’t he dancing with some other girl just a moment ago? Eun-ji was confused but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't happy to see him. “Fancy seeing you here too. Though I can’t tell whether I’m surprised that you here or not.” She commented honestly. She pondered for moment whether to tell Hana that she was on her way out but somehow, her feet remained glued to the floor. Even her brain that just told her to evacuate the room, suddenly seemed pretty content with staying exactly where she was. Traitor… She scolded her fickle body unhappily as she continued to indulge in the conversation.
“Your assumption is correct. I do know how to dance foxtrot. I was just curious and came to take a look as I was passing by.” She shrugged at his comment. At this point, the Slytherin probably understood how deep her passion for dance ran so it wasn’t surprising he guessed she didn’t come here to learn. In fact, Eun-ji knew most of the ballroom dances and while waltz and tango were her favorites, she liked to do and observe all of them whenever the opportunity presented itself. “But weren’t you in the middle of the dancing just now? Did you come to learn?” The witch asked, genuinely curious. Whenever she saw Hana at a ball, it was mostly in passing and he was usually just flirting with anybody pretty enough to catch his attention. She only just realized, she had never seen him dance. Was he a good dancer? Did he like to dance? If he was here to learn...why did he abandon his partner and came to talk to her instead? She had so many questions but elected to not go beyond the first one, she already voiced aloud. She didn’t want to sound too eager because she absolutely wasn’t. She was curious in…moderate amount. It was only natural since she liked to dance. It had nothing to do with Hana specifically.Eventual dancing partner: @Hanako Tone

Setting: Ballroom surrounded by people
IC date: February 10, 2024Many things in Ernest's life had been uncomfortable, a lot of them because of his appearance though not by much. He knew he was shorter than a lot of people, and he couldn't blend in. Even so, he barely could keep the offense off his face when the girl tip-toed out of her shoes before following him to dance.
He wondered if he could get away with only staying for one dance. Maybe, though he knew his reputation couldn’t really hold up if he was scared away by a girl being taller.
He held her hand loosely as he walked them in between the other dancing pairs to a good spot for them to start. “I’ll lead, you follow.” He said as he lifted their entwined hand and slid his other just around the top of her waist.
“To be frank, I’ve only read about this dance, so if I step on one or two of your toes, I apologize in advance,” He tried to joke as he led her back, a soft smile on his face. He figured if he could make the dance seem enjoyable for them both, he could sneak off more easily. He peeked over at the other couples as they danced, he didn’t seem like the only person who wanted to sneak away again.[314+219=533/400]

SIENNA HERA CALDWELL

With curious thoughts still lingering in her mind, she bravely asked the student standing at the doorway if he was Mylo, her friend from the train. For a moment she was worried that it wasn't him, but she was relieved when he turned towards her, greeting her, and also letting out a sigh of relief. She found it funny how often Mylo and Sienna were nervous, yet both of them really had no reason to be.
Mylo continued with a nervous chuckle, "You also here for the dancing lessons? I can't quite get myself over the doorway it seems, I'd love to learn but to be honest I'm scared to do so with strangers."
Sienna contemplated telling them that she was just getting back from practicing quidditch and she was really just exploring. But she knew that wasn't true. She wanted to try dancing, as nervous as she was, and she finally would have a partner to dance with.
"H-hey, maybe you would like to join me? I mean if you want to of course! I don't want to pressure you or anything! I just thought it might be nice to do it with someone we know?"
She responded with a smile, "Yeah actually, I'd like that very much." She continued towards the doorway to where they were already standing. She spoke at a lower volume so less people would be able to hear her. "To be honest, I've never dance before, and I knew I wanted to try, but I didn't know who to dance with." It felt nice to be able to share her thoughts with Mylo.
"But no matter, you ready to go in?"

Interacting with @Sienna Caldwell Date - 10/02/24 WC 354/400 Color Legend - thoughts |Mylo| Sienna Yeah actually, I'd like that very much. Mylo let out a breath he didn't know they were holding in. Having Sienna actually agree to be their dance partner lifted some of the anxiety off his shoulders, making stepping through the doors seem less like the humongous task it seemed before. "Yeah, I'm ready. Let's go." They respond, gathering every bit of courage they could find.
"My pa actually tried to teach me to dance, but I never really picked it up. I really hope I can learn something here and show him when I get back. I hope he'll be impressed." They quietly shared with Sienna, he felt as though he should also share a bit about their dance experiences after she had done so first. Letting out a slight chuckle he looks at her, "please don't mind if I accidentally step on your feet by the way, it's not on purpose, I swear."
After the class had gotten instructions from the teacher they started trying the moves themselves. It surprised Mylo that the moves weren't that difficult. 'Pa must have tried to teach me the 'not so basic' basics' he thought to himself. "For some reason I was really expecting this to be some really weird fast professional dance, this should be okay" They whisper to Sienna getting into position.
'That went well dude!! You only stepped on her toes once, and that was because you got startled by the teacher talking lol.' They thought, happy at how it went. Turning to Sienna he couldn't help but grin, giddy with how well it went. "That went so much better than I expected, thank you for doing this with me. I can't wait to show my pa and dad the moves I've learned. My pa must have decided that I was some sort of dance protégé or something, the stuff he tried to teach me was nothing like this. Are you hungry? I'm hungry, I'm going to grab food, you want to join me?" He knew they were rambling on and stimming, but for some reason this once they couldn't bring themselves to care. Too happy with how well this went.

Dancing with @AngelFyre McCubbin
Saturdays at Hogwarts were some of the best days. Saturdays brought about the first free day of the schoolweek, where students could take a break from their lessons and potions and take some time to expand their interests and hobbies or strengthen their friendships. It was on these days where friends truly began to feel like family and one truly felt they belonged in this amazing magical castle.
On this particular Saturday, just days from Valentine's Day, the Care of Magical Creatures professor was putting on a special event for students that wished to participate. There would be a demonstration in the Ballroom of the foxtrot and students were invited to watch and learn.
The foxtrot was a smooth dance, one with continous flowing movements across a dance floor and Simon looked forward to gliding along the Ballroom with his favorite girl. She loved to dance and it was one of the ways they made a close connection to one another. Plus, the foxtrot was often done to Big Band Music and that was one of Simon's personal favorite types of music.
The very moment they first found out about the event, Simon had looked directly at her and smiled widely. "Ready to get your foxtrot on with me, love?" he had asked her. She was ready.
So Saturday, February 10th came and the two waltzed into the Ballroom together, hand in hand. The ambience was there, the portraits were eagerly watching, and the music was already playing. He squeezed her hand three times and was looking forward to spending this afternoon with her, doing one of the things she most enjoyed. Several friends were amongst the group, and Simon would give a wave here and there to them but stuck close to his girl. Today his time and attention would be as devoted to her as his heart and soul already were.
Professor Blumenthal would begin with a brief introduction before taking her partner in Professor Regan to demonstrate. Seems that magical creatures and potions weren't the only areas those ladies knew. Simon watched them, but diverted his eyes over to AngelFyre to see the way she watched them. He definitely needed to encourage this love she had for dancing more in their encounters together and he enjoyed it as well.
And so it would begin - he would take her hand, bring it elegantly to his mouth to gently kiss the back of it, and then clasp his around hers, joining their hands together to start their rendition.
Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)

'Thoughts'
"Speech" Ballroom Dancing with @Dennis Tumberton 10th February, 2024Elisa wasn't particularly enthusiastic about dancing. The idea of swirling around with a total stranger didn't strike her as anything special. What was the point of dancing with someone she didn't even know? Especially when her parents had forced her to attend this ball, insisting on its "formality." In her pre-Hogwarts days, Elisa hated events like balls and dinners. They felt like tedious obligations she had to endure. However, for some reason, she had agreed to herself to join this particular dance.
Quietly slipping into the ballroom, Elisa observed the other students as they walked around, searching for their partners while keeping to themselves. She immediately began scanning the room for Dennis, her dance partner from Ravenclaw. They had met a few times before, though Elisa couldn't figure out why their paths had crossed. Nonetheless, he had kindly agreed to be her partner.
Navigating through the ballroom, Elisa recognized a few familiar faces, but she chose to ignore them. She wasn't in the mood for idle chitchat or catching up with acquaintances and friends. She had come to the ball with a clear purpose—to dance and nothing more. Well, perhaps she wouldn't mind a bit of playful flirt talks with Dennis, but that was the extent of her interest.
As Elisa wandered around the ballroom, searching for Dennis, she couldn't spot the red-headed boy anywhere. Doubts started to come into her mind. "Don't worry, Elisa," she kept reminding herself, pushing aside the terrible thoughts that whispered, "He won't show up. He was just messing with you. Maybe he changed his mind at the last minute." After a while of overthinking, she finally shrugged off her thoughts and continued her quest to find Dennis.
Time seemed to drag on as Elisa persistently scanned the ballroom, hoping to catch a glimpse of Dennis. She couldn't help the occasional wave of uncertainty that washed over her. "He'll come," she reassured herself, removing the doubts that kept on trying to undermine her optimism. Deep down, she desperately kept to her hope that Dennis would indeed appear, her heart wished for that possibility to come true If she found out that Dennis had indeed not arrived and she was waiting here for no reason, Elisa would go back to her dorm in an instant and never talk to Dennis again.
As the minutes ticked by, Elisa's determination to find Dennis remained. She looked around the ballroom, her eyes trying its best to search for any sign of the boy. A mix of desperation and anxiety coursed through her veins. "Please, let him be here," she silently pleaded, trying to fight the worry that threatened to engulf her.
As the young girl walked around, she continued to inhale and exhale, trying to calm her mind, to remove the feelings of being left out....
