Grasping onto the bark of her tree broom tightly, Bloom took out her wand and aimed it towards Xailah, the only other racer that would be closest in rank with her. The faster one goes, the more bumpy it can be. Bloom made sure to get her balance when aiming. Her eyes toggling between what was in front of her and Xailah. Immediately, she used the summoning charm and successfully took Xailah's wand away. Bloom could tell that it fell on the floor. Now, she was ready to zoom by.

The young lion cursed under her breath as her and her teams' actions missed their marks. It would have been nice to start with a lead, but everything went wrong for them that start. It would be harder to keep up if things continued like this.

Ying felt Della's spell hit her and a strange sensation made her stomach almost turn. She didn't suffer from vertigo but she had never flown so high and the ground was becoming really far from her feet, Ying needed an extra time to adjust to the sensation. She concentrated in the course ahead and stopped looking down, memories of the last time she had fallen from her broom would not help her at that time.

And they were off—like clockwork the lions launched their attacks. Della narrowed in on her task, so she wasn't sure how successful the others were; they were well practiced, but it was always different when the other team was involved. Her part of the strategy worked, though, Ying was sailing into the sky and out of harm's way—or rather into another race way with an eagle who had the same idea. Damn. Flying over the obstacles was in vogue nowadays it seemed. The Gryffindor captain considered sending another spell up there toward the blue blur, but her wand began to struggle in her hand. She tightened her grip and was able to keep hold. She kept moving, unsure which eagle-eyed player was the culprit. Yup, it was going to be one of those races. The cold weather had no effect on broom racers.

Did she just… blatch Xailah? Yes she did. Was it with grace? Probably not but it still worked perfectly, awesomely fine. “HA!!!!” If one saw her face, she’d look so happy as if she just won a lottery. Maybe this race would be her race. The race where she actually do cool things.

"The action doesn't end there, folks!" Alyssea yelled as chaos unfolded both above and on the track. "Gryffindor's Julia Jenkins takes another chance at a projectile aimed at Ravenclaw's youngest racer, Kyle Diaz! And he's no match for her accuracy. That's gotta hurt."

"Look over there!" Alyssea pointed towards Aurora and Della. "Ranvier's headed towards another Gryffindor racer! It's Captain Della Barfield!" She gasped as Della evaded Aurora's blatch with ease, almost as if the captain didn't have to think about it. "A clean dodge from Captain Barfield!"

Meanwhile, Linda found herself at the receiving end of a snazzy bandana, as one Slytherin [@Colin McCoire] called them. Alyssea winced seeing the blindfold go right over the girl's eyes. "Good luck navigating the course with that bandana, too."

As the rest zoomed ahead, Xailah and Ari stayed in their place. Alyssea raised an eyebrow at Ari's lack of movement. Nerves? Alyssea cleared her throat. Already the yelling was getting to her. "Looks like the broom came first! Is Alptraum going to fly wandless this race?"

And just as Xailah made it back into the sky, two fell to replace her, although they took a very rough fall. Alyssea gasped seeing both Ying and Paige hitting the ground. "Fang and Mallary have fallen from the heights! A nasty fall, no doubt."

Aurora was the next to join Maverick in the freezing water. Like Ari, Alyssea raised an eyebrow. Was the cold getting to Maverick? It was chilly, yes, though the snowfall had lightened up slightly since morning. But the water and the wind combined were probably not a great concoction.

Up ahead, Alyssea winced as people hit the rocks. "It is rough out here. Wonder if the snow is doing something to the course's visibility because everyone hit the rocks."

They looked slightly disoriented coming out from the passageways which Alyssea figured was natural considering how many of them (read: all of them) didn't escape without a scratch.

"DANNAZIONE! DAMN!" Kyle exclaimed as he got pelted by Julia Jenkins' projectile spell, the first round he had been barely able to evade it, as the course went on it became harder to avoid spells like that. The blow of the spell had caused a large disturbance in Kyle as he kept racing.

That had to have hurt, Kyle thought as he watched a couple broom racers fall from their brooms, but he didn't let it deter him too much and focused on the race, it was competition anyways.

Things seemed to be going well again before he reached the Hard Narrow Passageway, Kyle held tightly onto the broom has he scraped some of the wall and bashed against the rocks leaving him all battered. He finally got out of the hard narrow passageway and onto the easy one which went without a hitch.

Kyle fell behind once again after getting beat around in unit 6 Wrackspurt, he was currently in 3rd place behind the two Gryffindors Barfield and Ramirez. Kyle tried hard to try and stay on their tail and gain momentum, awaiting to take his next action....

Paige tumbled down to the ground, hitting her leg hard on the sand. She glanced up at the Gryffindor Co-Captain and frowned. How dare she blatch me! Paige dusted herself off, did a few stretches and stared back up at the track. However, this time she felt drowsy. That fall has winded her and most her energy was now wasted on trying to get her breath back. She wasn't progressing very well, but afterall, it was her very first match. Mounting her broom, Paige zoomed back into the air and continued on with the game, terrified of falling off again.

Delta was recovered quickly, his bone-white shape sticking out dimly against the greywashed landscape. Xailah ran a hand down the wooden shaft, wiping off the dewiness left by the sparse patches of snow swatching the ground. By the looks of things- including the faint outline of a large obstacle ahead- the broom was going to need a good dry-down and reseal after this race.

Remounting the broom, the lioness prepared herself for takeoff once again, hoping that this time she'd at least get a little farther than a few meters past the finish line. There was also the matter of her wand and where it went- it couldn't possibly have gone too far. That much, she was certain of. Allowing Delta to lift her into the air, albeit slowly, Xailah kept her eyes to the ground; hoping that in her meticulous scan of the environment, she'd spot the splinter of dark chestnut. From her vantage point, she ignored the overhead whistle of racers flying by; aware that she was getting left in the dust. Or rather snow. The world was mostly monochrome, so surely her wand would be quick to find considering how dark it was. That was the theory anyway. She'd probably have to leave it behind if she didn't find it soon.

As racing continued, Linda thought it was going to be nice but kinda hard at the same time. And just as she finished this thought, she felt something suddenly appearing on her eyes. Blindfold. Well, hopefully she wouldn't get into trouble because of it.

Linda tried to not get panicked because this way she could somehow manage to move forward, until she would take the blindfold away from her. Hopefully, her teammates were doing okay. She still believed they will do a great job.

Many Gryffindors fell off their brooms, which meant their team was falling behind on the race track, Ying felt that she needed to do something about it and so she didn't gave it too much thought, she saw an opportunity and so she took it. She tightened her grip on her silver arrow and braced herself for impact as she flew straight at the Ravenclaw girl. Seeing Paige fall, she felt a sense of regret for her decision, they were really flying above normal height, and there was no way it wouldn't hurt a real bad.

But Ying didn't really have much time to wonder what it would feel like, to lose her sense of gravity and the damage it would cause when hitting the ground, even though she was already used to it by now! The spell words came from some place close to the ground and when she noticed she was the target for it, it was too late. She still tried to hold the broom, but the momentum was lost and she felt it slip from her hands and she fell, finding Paige on the ground. Ying felt the air being expelled from her lungs as her body met the blanket of snow spread across the terrain. Slowly she got up, feeling if there was any broken bones...there wasn't thanks Merlin! But she wouldn't get rid of the bruises and some soreness.

The way Paige glanced at her would not go unnoticed, and Ying felt it like the fairest way to be addressed in that occasion. Karma really acts fast in her life! The young Gryffindor bit on her lip sending an apologetic look at Paige before turning to pick up her broom.
