27th January 2024 - Afternoon

And just like that, Slytherins lead would vanish. All three of the duellists from the Snake house would miss, which was lucky for some! Bea watched as Avery casted, his wind spell going straight for Julian. Except he was too good, bending this way and that, being able to avoid the wind in some dramatic ninja fashion. Pea would cast the Cracker Jinx, which was becoming something of a favourite this year in Duelling. She would miss spectacuraly, her wand seeming to hate her against all others. It would perform poorly, allowing others to evade any spell she threw their way. Guinevere was the next one, and she didn't fare much better. Her spell would redirect to Avery, who if she counted all the things against him, wasn't having much luck this Stage. Watching him intently, Bea gasped in amazement as he evaded the spell surely meant for a Badger, even whilst still dancing and laughing!

The Hufflepuffs would fare much better, even gaining some ground this round. Julian would also blast a Cracker Jinx, the explosions raining down on Avery and by extension the rest of his team. All three would be hit with the sparks and suffer. Emma, a brilliant healer, would cast upon poor EmmaLee, who was off with the fairies a bit this round. The added strength would surely help in the rounds to come, especially with Slytherin looking to take back their lead!

A final arc of the lightening, which missed everyone, and then Bea once again signalled to continue. They were nearly halfway, and things were just starting to get interesting!

It seemed like their team's luck would be changing for this round at least. Emma tapped her foot a couple times after the piste, hoping to ward off the bad luck that she might have invited on their team with her thoughts. Taking a breath, she quickly swiveled to her teammate, using the healing spell she had memorized to try to keep her going a little longer. It seemed like EmmaLee had been targeted quite a bit and she felt bad for that.

Cheering Julian on as he cast the spell, Emma was more than pleased to see the Cracker Jinx land on the opposite team, turning the tables on them especially since the Slytherin team's hits didn't quite hit the mark. Emma knew that it could just be temporary and the opposite would happen next time but for the moment she was going to celebrate the Hufflepuff teams good round.

	----- Another testing round for the vipers. Julian skillfully lept aside from his channelled gust of wind, and in retaliation lit up the piste with the fizzle and pop of wizarding firecrackers. Avery shielded his eyes, still laughing from the tickling curse as he took the full force of the jinx squarely in the chest. The miniature explosions were deafening and thus disorienting. He didn’t even realise the burns had shredded holes in his tweed-green cashmere sweater; the fibres singed with violent heat. His dizzying spell wasn’t yet over, but somehow he narrowly avoided Guin’s misfire. Whether he knew it or not was another story, but perhaps he was playing it cool as though it was never really an issue. He was in danger here, and it was time to bite back. wc: 131

Well, that was something. Chaos has come back to haunt her as her spell went everywhere else other than their opponent. The cracker jinx just burst out of her wand, instead of aiming at Pritchard it aimed at his partner instead. But everyone on the Badgers team seem to be able to avoid it quite easily. Pea grunts in frustration as cracker jinx also were aimed at them by none other than Pritchard. Copycat much? The white haired thought.

It was really depressing how just as she thought something was going right, she just had to prove herself wrong. Guin took a very risky move trying the fourth year spell, which very clearly showed. Her first ever impedimenta cast in a duel veered sharply off course, instead almost hitting Avery. How absolutely excellent. At least she had managed to dodge the lighting whilst getting hit by some shards of Julain's cracker jinx.

27th January 2024 - Afternoon

And once again the Cracker Jinx would fly. From both sides this time. Bea squinted, trying to see amongst the numerous sparks on who would be hit this round. Julian would be lucky with his aim, hitting all of Team Slytherin, but his wand seemed to have an even better idea. Backfiring onto himself. What a fantastic idea for the Badgers. It retrospect as the casts happened, Julian was indeed lucky that he had cast so brilliantly, as both of his team mates failed. The Emma duo missed and failed spectacularly. Perhaps a bit more practice was needed.

The Slytherins wouldn't be much better. Avery would miss his target. What was this? The third time in four rounds. Seriously, he needed to be better. His name was getting dragged through the mud. Pea wasn't much better. Instead of healing Leveret, she would cause him harm, her wand seeming to listen to the ones around it and mess up what was required. Guinevere would take all of Slytherins luck for the round, hitting only one of three targets.

Bea shook her head, a bewildered scowl showing across her face. "Come one duellists! Surely Fate will shine upon one of you today! We're halfway and no one is down yet!" Just as she finished, the lightening would pounce. It was a grand finish to the round that was all spark and no bite
