Dark Wizard Society

The Dark Wizard Society, colloquially known as DWS, is a club dedicated to pureblooded wizarding advancement. DWS is an exclusive organization that brings together accomplished and promising wizards of distinguished magical lineage to explore the deeper mysteries of magic, specifically a celebration, discussion and academic study of dark magic.
With a rigorous admissions process, the Society maintains high standards, only accepting members of exceptional talent, unimpeachable character and incredible bloodline. Behind closed doors, discussions range from the theoretical underpinnings of the Dark Arts to innovative spellcrafting techniques that are not intended for public consumption. While controversial in some circles, DSW members are united by a passion for pushing the boundaries of magic and a thirst for unraveling magic's most potent secrets.
Restrictions: Pureblooded, male.
Details beyond the above are not for public consumption.

The Dralt bloodline boasted many a notable naval captain, whose feats at sea ranged from being sole survivors of horrendous storms to battles against titanic monsters. Their legacy suffered a blow when Pericles' great-grandfather, Glen, disappeared at sea. Speculation was that he had abandoned his destiny due to conflicts with his father, Darius, as this disappearance took place shortly after his arranged marriage to Alanah, an heiress from a neighboring pureblood house. Nevertheless, his wife became a formidable captain in his absence. The House carried on with the birth of their son, Albus, though he would incidentally carry on his lost father's habit of being a social scandal. Albus was the first Dralt to express not only tolerance of "lesser" blood statuses, but acceptance. He was an eclectic fellow known for sharing bizarre tales of his travels around the world. He married a pureblood heiress, Tamasa, though she was a foreigner from India with no established connections to any European lines. Their son Isaac, Pericles' father, was thought to have been the most successful Dralt since their progenitor. Isaac was an exceedingly skilled wizard with top marks in school, a fearsome capacity for offensive magic, and an astonishing business savvy. He served the ministry as an Auror out of "civic duty". However, his shining repute would be plunged into darkness when, during a near fatal mission, he was inflicted with vampirism. He lost his ability to cast magic, and with it, many of his blueblooded connections.
Prior to his turning, Isaac married pureblood heiress Cenedril Saltgrave. Cenedril's family were known for their revolutionary experimentations in potion brewing. Yet during an attempt at designing a longevity potion, her father Rowan made a grave miscalculation. When his wife acted as the test subject, she instead rapidly aged and expired. Cenedril fled from her family, hiding their sordid history from her son, Pericles. He has recently unearthed this information on his own.
In his third year, Pericles faced his boggart: a warped vision of his father as a vampiric abomination, which blamed the heir for his corruption and deemed him unworthy of their legacy. Pericles has since become fixated with the idea that he might discover a cure for his father's affliction. He hasn't shared this with anyone at school for fear of his obsession being deemed delusional, and impossible. He is desperate enough to turn to his corrupt grandparents for guidance, and even elsewhere, leaning towards the idea that ends justify a means, no matter their alignment. He has generally avoided politics, showing little interest in convoluted pureblood webs, but was recently nudged into caring more about his future as an heir. Still, he remains intimidated by his inheritance, and on a level he hasn't admitted to himself, seeks to restore his father to his former glory to avoid taking on the mantle any sooner than he has to. Snobby circles whisper that he is the generation to either save or destroy the Dralt name.

Heraldry
Sable (Black) Tenacity. Sorrow.
Black, or "sable", is symbolic of melancholy. As the coldest of colors, it corresponds with winter. It is also considered a humble color, suitable for the deeply religious, denoting the qualities of knowledge, constancy, and work ethic.
Or (Yellow or Gold) Generosity. Respect.
Gold, the metal of wealth and prosperity, represents generosity in heraldic symbolism. Here it portrays magnanimity, where family gives freely amongst itself and generously amongst its allies.
Argent (Silver or White) Honesty. Loyalty.
Signifies sincerity, peace, and purity. Those beneath this banner must always be true to one another.
Pale (Divider) Military strength. Honor.
A vertical band down the shield denoting defensive strength. It was often bestowed upon those who defended cities, supported their sovereign, or stood for their country under duress.
Motto
SPERAMUS IN SANGUINEM - We Trust in the Blood
Loyalty to one's kin. Pride in one's pure status. Faith in one's self and one's personal power.
Serpent (Snake) Wisdom. Defiance.
In heraldry, the serpent primarily represents wisdom. In the family, it is specifically symbolic of the forbidden wisdom and self-awareness found in immortality. The never-ending serpent represents the cyclical nature of the universe, preservation of life through the consumption of living energies, and deathlessness. The serpent is archaic in mythological symbolism. They have been used to represent dual expressions of good and evil, fertility and rebirth, sagacity and trickery, poison and medicine, vengefulness and vindictiveness. Ouroboros is balance, which the Dralts are expected to strive for.

An otherwise unadorned piece of parchment would be attached to the sign-up sheet. The parchment was blank save for a single name, written in a neat and practiced hand with blueish-blank ink.
