Emma had just finished classes for the day and was trying to figure out where to head to. She knew she had plenty of homework to do, including some she had decided to procrastinate. But she also had one of the romance books she had snuck from her parent's house burning a hole in her beg, practically begging for her to open it back up. She had used her break to make a head start on the novel, and wanted to learn more about the two characters that she knew would likely fall in love.
Lately she had been drawn to more romance novels, having read her first towards the end of summer. Ever since, she had been steadily increasing the amount of romances or romance adjacent books she had been reading, and now with Valentine's day around the corner, it seemed like all she wanted to do was read romance novels. Soon she was going to run out, and she wasn't quite sure the Hogwarts Library may have enough to keep her stocked until the holidays. It was a shame that technology didn't work in Hogwarts. She could have really used an e-reader with how much she read.
Distracted by her bookish thoughts, she didn't lift her feet as high as she should have, instead shuffling along. Next thing she knew she was falling forward, her bag trying to fly off her shoulder, but not quite making it down far enough. Her hands flew out to keep from face planting in the rather harsh stone of the corridor, and just before her hands made contact with the hard ground, she heard a rather loud rip! And just like that her bag remained on her shoulder, but it's contents went flying. And maybe most embarrassingly for Emma, the romance novel that she had been reading that admittedly did not have the most obvious of covers was the farthest item from her. Scrambling, not even noticing the slight ache of her hands, she rushed, trying to grab the book before anyone else saw, her cheeks bright red.

Romance on My Mind
"Are you all right?" Aaron witnessed the younger Hufflepuff's unfortunate tumble, but there was no humor in his expression as he leaned down and offered her a hand. Just concern. A moment before his offer, his other hand had been used to pick up her book that had gone sliding right into his shoe. He didn't pay any mind to the title when he picked it up though, as he had quickly gathered any other belongings of hers that had fallen. His brown eyes were then more focused on making sure the redhead wasn't injured.
If she took his hand, Aaron would help the girl to her feet and straighten back up to his full five-foot-nine height, offering a warm smile. "I swear, this castle has new hazards every day, like hall stones sticking out," he joked with a small chuckle, using his foot and gaze to bring attention to a stone nearby that was slightly different from the other stones in the hallway. It wasn't high enough to cause someone to trip, and it wasn't what the redhead had tripped on, but Aaron was happy to pretend it was to make sure the girl didn't feel too embarrassed. He had been there before.
"You're Emma, right? Emma Wynn?" he asked, offering her the book and other belongings now that she was upright again. He still didn't look at the title, though, thinking it was probably just a textbook. If she seemed confused how he knew her name, he would gesture to the prefect badge on her robes. "I try to know all the names and faces of the school prefects, especially fellow Hufflepuffs. And I've seen you around the common room enough." Another smile as he introduced himself, "I'm Aaron Jones."
As a few people continued walking around them in the corridors, Aaron kept his attention on Emma. He had nowhere in particular to be right now - except, maybe he should be studying for that Astronomy assignment due tomorrow night. But he welcomed most interactions with fellow students, especially when it kept him from doing said schoolwork, so he would stick around and try to strike up some small talk.
"Shame about your bag, but nothing a good reparo can't handle, yeah?" Having just finished classes himself, he also had a shoulder bag with all of his assignments and books from the day. But unlike Emma's, his wasn't broken.

@Emma Wynn
Aaron has a Calming Presence.Your presence simply puts others at ease, if it is your carefree personality or the trust others have in you, the result is still the same. With you there, perhaps through your encouragement, your allies are able to better focus.
Aaron is a Lovely Creature. You are so incredibly beautiful, it is hard to take ones eyes off of you.

Emma froze on her hands and knees at the sound of a voice. Closing her eyes for a moment, she grabbed the hand that had appeared in front of her, and scrambled to her feet, quickly releasing the hand. Her hands went to her robes, roughly brushing them to get any dust and dirt off of them. She couldn't make herself meet the person's eyes, instead focusing on their ear. "Ummm...yes, I.. well I guess I just tripped over air or uhhh, something."
Remembering the fact that she was a prefect and her determination for this year to be the year that she didn't let others judgement affect her, she took a small breath, releasing it carefully before bringing her eyes back towards the person who was quite a bit taller than her, noting that they had what seemed to Emma to be kind dark brown eyes. She was used to being short, frequently one of the shorter of her age group. As she stood there awkwardly, she noted the rather messy hair, and found herself thinking that this person seemed to be the kind of hero she tended to favor in her books. That brought her back to the thought of her book that she looked around for, noting that it was in the stranger's hand. She could feel her cheeks heating again, even more so when she realized he had said something. "Yes, it really does seem like the castle is out to get you sometimes." Emma blurted out, unsure of what else to say.
And now he knew her name. Honestly Emma didn't think someone even of her house would know her name. She may have been a prefect but she didn't think she was quite that well known. The fact that he knew her name made her think that maybe he had searched it out? He did explain and it made sense. "Yes, that's me. I mean, my name is Emma. It's nice to meet you Aaron Jones." Cringing at the fact that she had said their full name, Emma waved awkwardly at him, flustered by the fall, her book in his hands, and now the persistent thought that he could be a hero in one of those same books.
Taking the items, including the wayward book from him, she tried to stack them in a fairly safe manner. She hadn't thought of the wand in her pocket, or that there were spells for that. Emma had grown up in a muggle world and honestly her first thought always tended to be less magical in nature. "Right! It should be a relatively simple fix. Which is good because I like this bag. It's quite handy." Emma shrugged, shifting the weight of the items in her arms. "I hope I'm not holding you up. What year are you? I don't recall seeing you in any of my classes." Emma had felt the need to ask something, feeling like she was focusing mainly on herself and needing to respond somehow.

Romance on My Mind
"I'm a fifth year, how about you?" Aaron guessed Emma was a fourth year or maybe third. "And no, classes are done for the day. I don't have any plans until dinner, so I was gonna head back to the common room, but I'm not in any rush," he explained, using one hand to push some hair out of his face as he spoke. He needed a haircut, his hair was getting longer than he liked and with Valentine's around the corner, he wanted to look as nice as possible for a date with Opeila. "How about you? Are you heading somewhere?"
At that point, Aaron realized by handing the items back to Emma, the upperclassman had essentially made it impossible for her to mend her bag since her hands were now full. "Oh, sorry, I'm an idiot. Let me carry those so you can focus on mending your bag," Aaron would say, moving to take the books and items back. If she agreed and let him carry them, he'd go on to say, "I'd have offered to mend your bag instead, but truth be told, spells have never been my forte. You'd probably do a much better job."
Depending on if Emma mended the bag right away or took a moment to get her wand out, Aaron would look around the hall and feel a bit antsy standing still with several people still passing by. "Shall we walk and chat? I'll walk with you on your way if you want some company," he offered, assuming she had mentioned her destination earlier. Unless she objected to having company, the sixteen-year-old would start leading the way, shortening his stride slightly to match the younger girl's pace.
"Do you have a favorite class?" he asked. It was one of the more generic questions he asked of new acquaintances here at Hogwarts.
