Interacting w/@Alyssea Brown. Mentioning June
Pericles was pleased to see his skating mentee under better circumstances, and just as pleased to hear she had been practicing. His smile was laced with the warmth of pride at that, contrasting the icy air that had tinged his cheeks, though it dropped when she warned him. He had been totally oblivious to the girl about to crash right into him. Looking up sharply, the boy managed an artful maneuver, twisting from June's path with poise. "Careful!" he called after her, not a frustrated remark, but a startled laugh with a dash of concern. Resuming his nonchalant backwards slide, he looked to Aly with a short huff of relief. "Close shave, that. Thank you." On hearing her hope that no one ran into her next, Pericles tucked his hands into his long gray coat. "I wouldn't worry about it if I were you," he dismissed innocently, though his fingers curled around the wand in his pocket. The Ravenclaw intended to make sure no one disrupted the Hufflepuff's demonstration. "We'll use today as an excuse to practice your stop. In the meantime, let's see that jump." Peri paid close attention, though he minded his peripheral while they went, keeping a keen eye and ear out for anyone who came too close.

@Avery Leveret @Xailah AlptraumNo sooner did she reach the older student had Maria witnessed her unfortunate tumble, causing her to stop. The Hufflepuff winced. That was either going to hurt today or tomorrow, either way a tumble in the ice wasn’t pleasant. Hearing the younger student’s taunt, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Children. She was absolutely still a child herself, but at least she could carry herself on the ice with a bit more dignity than the Slytherin boy who from what she saw, was no better than a newborn foal.
The cold chill of the day bit at Maria’s nose and sent a small shiver down her spine. It was an odd day for her to be out, she rarely ever was these days, but she was getting cabin fever in her dorm. Not much to stare at, and books could only get her through so much. Perhaps her years at Hogwarts left her a taste for looking for trouble, or mischief, but a thought crossed her mind, barely a whisper, but it sure sounded like fun when it did.
With her eyes squinted, seemingly locked on to her target, the older girl set her eyes on the boy in the distance, and with a huff and a kick, she set off at him, hoping to give him a little jostle. This was probably a bad idea, but she was, still a kid with much to learn. Perhaps this was where she would learn when you play stupid games you get stupid prizes.

Calming Presence in Effect: All Students & Beast Master Familiars Affected
Ice on the Great Lake was a delight, even if some mixed experiences came flooding back to the boy as he scampered and bobbed in uneven running strides towards the great black menace. The Great Lake was a source of both delight and trauma, but it was Piérre's choice not to recall the 'trauma' bits and to instead cherish and make bright the 'delightful' aspects of the magnificent landmark. He had checked the ice himself, even with others skating around on it already... and it was firm enough. Firmer than other ice sheets he had seen before and had known better than to step onto for fear of falling through and meeting an untimely end by his own weakness of inability to tread water.
That being said, with so many other people around, surely nothing too terrible would happen... provided they were of the good spirit to at least consider looking out for each other. They were more trustworthy than others that the boy could name, so at least that was a comfort. Underneath the tree that he had once tried to help Katrina after such an incident concerning broken ice and hypothermia when he had been but a small and innocent first year student unblemished by the shadows of demons and nightmares that dripped through the cracks of Hogwarts castle, the boy let his messenger bag slip off his shoulder and to the tree's snow-laden roots. Running his fingers on the bark, appraising its mostly bald branches, Piérre looked up at it and smiled quietly. Memories were such a sweet thing, even if some were bitter. "Hello there, old friend. You're a few years older too, huh." He bit his tongue lightly. "You're looking better off than me."
Humming lightly, the boy looked at the kids who stumbled and hurtled across the ice, at times unable to push away the disturbing thought of all these colors and beauties pitch black in nature, dripping with unknowable night that shambled and crept across the cracking crystalline sheet. Emerald eyes beheld the castle in the distance in the same way, though he tipped his head in consideration of the things and the rumors that lay therein. Behind him, Figaro came running up--he had followed Piérre's footsteps--and curled up lightly on Piérre's messenger bag with a creaky purr.
"Awww... Figgy you're so sweet. Don't freeze, baby." Piérre knelt down and gently laid a black and yellow scarf over the feline, bundling the bengal lightly with the warm fabric to try and insulate the critter while he was away. "And don't get under other peoples' feet... it'll really hurt if someone were to fall on you." Piérre kissed the cat, who mewed lightly in response. After a few more parting pets, Piérre strode off for chaos, waving at Figaro as he went. "Okay be a good boy and don't get hurttt!"
Around 5 meters from the edge of the lake, the boy entered a full sprint and then proceeded to leap onto the ice like a penguin, sliding on his belly as fast as he could. "Heads up! I'm coming through!" He didn't care who he was hurtling for or if someone was going to get in his way. On his stomach, though, at least he could catch himself or slow himself down by spinning, tilting or rolling... but what was the fun in that?!
He was here to sew chaos, and by gum he was going to do it right!

Generally, Piérre is a rather acrobatic kid. He may not be an expert at skating due to dedicated practice or rehearsal, but his ability to balance and improvise his center of gravity is inherent to his nature [reflected by a high Accuracy and Evasion combo with a relatively supportive strength in solo bodily manipulation]. Having spent over a decade tumbling, falling, cartwheeling, somersaulting, and generally performing acts of tomfoolery, he is highly aware of his own body and its place in the space around him. He's very nimble, and isn't afraid to be a little chaotic if he has to. He doesn't really break or crash out, he bounces or deflects momentum using highly physical and almost circus-like maneuvers.

❂《 ⌜ January 6, 2024 ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Who in their right minds would be out in this cold weather? Apparently, not Raizel and the rest of the folks that she is seeing skating on a frozen lake. She wasn’t expecting for people to gather in this place today, she didn’t even know there was an ice skating activity going on around this part for she only came to take a walk. She had gotten bored staying all day in the castle and needed some fresh air even though she knew it was cold outside. It’s a nice change of pace at least.
With her is her trusty arctic owl, Boreas, who, for some reason, had decided to tag along which was surprising as he loved flying around Hogwarts or staying in the owlery. Perhaps he sense Raizel’s need for a companion on her walk but who knows, maybe he was just as bored as she was. So here they are, near the lake and had now decided to watch whatever was going on in the lake. Tons of people, ranging from people that she knows to those that she feels like she is seeing for the very first time. They look like they are having so much fun.
For all her life, she had never tried ice skating and she doubts she would even try it, thus, simply watching is enough for her and not like she is staying for too long unless she has any reason to. Although, she will admit, she would love to see how her friends and apparently, her newly discovered cousin, Alyssea Brown, do. Walking a bit more to find a place with a better view, her gaze fell on another familiar figure who, like her, doesn’t seem to be participating in this activity.
Astra Norrick, another one of her newly discovered cousins has a snowball in hand, eyes so focused on the skaters but she can’t tell which one so she didn’t bother staring at her for too long. She'll get back at her later. Raizel let her owl perch on a nearby tree branch, watching as he ruffled his feathers before returning her gaze to where she had seen Alyssea before, wand at a ready. Who knows when it will come in handy. As they say, in Hogwarts events, you won’t know when something will go wrong and she sure wants to be ready for it, especially when it’s one of her family that could fall in danger. But seriously though, what could even happen in this ice skating activity?

┏ ┓----- The lake was starting to come to life with gleeful laughter and joy throughout, though some of its curved edges were home to various new-starters, people who hadn’t skated before or people who didn’t want to skate but still wanted to participate in the fun by simply being in the presence of friends. There was no cosier feeling than a warm coat, fluffy gloves and the warmth of laughter in the belly.
Sage and Quinn were still relatively close to one another, having just set off moments ago. To make up for her earlier start, Quinn dared to perform a pirouette as she had seen Guinevere do. It was a marvel to see the progress of just a few seconds, where she had blundered and flapped and saved herself from a fall moments ago she was now perfectly performing this elegant maneuver around her section of the lake. The tide of fortunes changed for Sage, who just now had grown in confidence and tried to pick up the pace. She followed the edge of the lake, making out what she could from the snow topped mirror that concealed the depths below, but in her eagerness she was led astray from her path, narrowly avoiding skating straight onto land and having to turn back to safety. Unfortunately for her, there was somebody in the way. Kaitlyn was quick to react, she jolted backwards to allow Sage to pass, continuing to skate on.
Elsewhere on the ice, Alyssea and Pericles were having a rather wholesome moment. The former seemed to be showing off to Pericles, but that was what today was all about. Skating on Ice was a sport that was designed to look good, in fact it was scored almost completely on one's technical prowess at looking good. It was an entirely vain affair, and yet it offered the same giddiness that one could find on a broom high in the sky. Some were good at it, and some definitely weren't.
There was a section of the lake that had the most exciting few moments. Opeila Winters had taken to the ice, nervous to get going. She was a famed Slytherin prefect, but perhaps not for her ice skating ability. Alec seemed to want to help her as she set out but what unfolded was a series of unfortunate events. By herself, Opeila managed to take to the ice without hitch or slip. With the steadying wave of her arms she was able to maintain an upright position, but Alec in his eagerness had jolted to try and help her. In the next moment he found himself on his ass, his charm offensive had gone terribly wrong but it at least made for an amusing turn of events.
The string of misfortune didn't end there.
Ophelia Northwell skated right in front of Fang Hui-Ying, who seemed to have been struggling with her balance; arms flapping either side as if pretending to be a bird as she tried to regain her footing. To say that Ophelia was skating was probably untrue, as she seemed to anxiously edge forward out over the ice but without any real know-how on how to stop herself. The poor girl seem to attract bodies, as she avoided a boy who seemed to be flying across the ice on his forefront, but that only led her to nearly collide with Opeila. The nearest wasn't the end of it, as the universe finally struck her with another. June had seemingly been skating in circles, but her current arc hadn’t accounted for the number of bodies that weren't there a moment ago, and now suddenly both had felt the force of their slow impact. It wasn't enough to hurt, but it was enough to let June fall; flailing her arms back in that sheer moment of panic.
If it weren't for Kaitlyn, who herself had narrowly avoided Sage, June would have surely had a sore and cold brush with the ice. The young first year had managed to grip onto her at the last second heroically keeping her from the embarrassment.
Wren seemed to have the most embarrassing time of all. Though she was stationary, she attracted chaos from every direction. The boy that was sliding around on his front was Pierre, and he alone had managed to make a thoroughfare of it all. First it was Ophelia in his path of sewn chaos. Then Madison, who appeared to be a princess on the ice; having completed an impressive set of pirouettes and expert graceful movements, all the while the eyes of the eyes of the lake were on her. She had narrowly avoided peer, but Wren, Wren did not. Her legs were taken from under her as she fell to the ice and just when she thought it couldn’t get any worse, she was showered in a spray of ice that came from an upperclassman.
Maria had tried to get back at Avery who had taunted the fallen Xailah. She raced at him under the veil of threat only to try and perform a flashy heel stop, to use the blade of her skate to kick up a spray of ice at him. In her eagerness though, and not expecting the calamity of students falling and crashing together all around her, she had to perform the execution early to avoid joining them herself. Avery, who was simply skating forward towards the calamity, simply laughed in his smarmy superior-than-thou manner; an unfortunate habit.
As all this was going on there was one figure on the ice that was letting loose. Rebecca had raced to the center of the lake, each stride would take her further and faster. This area of the lake was especially snow covered, untouched by the blades of the other students. The wonder of exploring the fractal surface was something so few could claim; but she would be the one. Her curled hair lifted by the wind as she ventured over the deepest areas of the lake; where the ice was thinnest. She was too eager, if that was such a thing. She had put too much power into her strides, and her body was lurching forward trying to accelerate quicker than her legs. Rebecca would have taken a tumble were it not for her caution and tenacity. With a dramatic and abrupt finish she angled one of her skates so that the blade was grazing the surface of the ice; shredding up a curtain of crushed ice and snow and launching it forward. It was a cool thing to watch from afar, but Bex didn’t have that same experience.
The ice around her moaned with her weight and it was enough for her to give pause as a sense of uneasiness crawled up her back. The ice that she had uncovered revealed the black depths of the lake; its quilt of snow churned up by her skate. It was in that moment that she saw something move beneath the thin fractal sheet that kept her from the glacial bite of Scottish waters in winter. For whatever reason, she elected a closer inspection and that was when she saw the full body form of a massive underwater creature that was nesting close to the surface. Characterised by mottled black skin and a giant bulbous eye that had met her gaze, she made it out to be the form of a jetting giant squid. The giant squid.
The realisation was stolen from her when she was struck right in the face by a snowball that came from the distant shore, another landing a few meters away .The impact was bitterly cold, and the packed snow fell down her face and front, getting into her hair and eyes. When she had spluttered it all away, all signs of the squid were gone. Suddenly, the shore felt very far away from where she was stood, and every moan and creak of the ice; an elegy or lament for her doom…┗ ┛ ─▪──────────────▪─
┏ ┓----- What unfolded in front of him was likely to be the funniest thing he’d experienced all year.
It was as if a trickster had seemingly made the ice in that section of the lake exceptionally slippy for the sole purpose of entertaining him. Is belly filled with raucous laughter watching what happened to Wren and Maria. He was far more subtle when it came to Opeila’s near-miss, though his eager dark eyes watched it as hawkishly as he could, not eager to miss the moment should it arrive.
“Well, it seems that if you say so, it is so!” Avery called back to Ying, who had tried to jab at him from the floor only for his present status to bat off her remark. He had skated away from Ying just fine, and it seemed as though to him it was everyone else that was struggling with the slippery dancefloor; everyone else that had taken his bambi-legs from him.
In his exit, Maria had tried something, but that ended in near-misery for her and his laugh had returned, all the while he was getting closer to June; who he could see was about to head into the realm of trouble, lost in her own thoughts. He admired that she was a thinker, but at this present time it was entirely out of place; though not owing to her, of course.
“June look out!” He called, still some distance away, but by then it was too late. Avery blew air into his cheeks at the whole affair, sidling on up to her with an empathetic, pained, expression.
“For a moment there I thought I was going to lose the only person I wanted to get up to no good with…”

❂《 ⌜ January 6, 2024 ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔And then there was chaos before her. Not the life threatening ones but rather, a couple of blunders from the skaters. There was a ton of it and Raizel can't keep up with everything as she is more focused on her cousins, Alyssea and Astra, and perhaps her best friend, Fang Hui-Ying that she just saw having some difficulties and almost colliding with a couple of people. It was a relief to see that she was alright. Can't say the same for the others.
It was entertaining to watch these people on ice perform so well or have the most terrible luck and find themselves hugging the frozen surface of the lake. Now then, she did say she will get back to Astra and see what the mischievous Slytherin was up to and she was just in time to see her pelting that snowball, flinching when it hit someone but she couldn't tell who from where she is right now but, was that the Ravenclaw girl that she doesn't know the name of? She's not really that sure but that was a nice shot. That's gonna cause something though and she'd rather not be caught up in it.
“What a day, huh, Boreas.” She called out to her owl who was starting to preen his feathers. Raizel wasn't expecting a response from him but not like there is anyone else she could talk to. Slowly, she made her way closer to the Slytherin girl earlier but keeping her distance as to not startle her and not to intrude if the girl wanted to enjoy her time being alone on the sidelines much like what Raizel is doing. Her gaze soon returned to where the ice skaters were, still keeping an eye on things.

the ballet of blades • threadKnocking into people wasn't really what Ophelia had expected to happen today. She'd expected herself to go out of control and possibly run into people but having other people unintentionally bump into her? That wasn't really part of her plan.
Ophelia felt her confidence drying up. Locating Quinn again, she skated closer to her friend. She couldn't help but feel a bit of envy. Here she was, knocking into people and worrying herself down to the core, and there was her friend, doing pirouettes and doing amazing.
She has more experience than you. Ophelia tried to calm herself. Enviousness and jealousy weren't the best emotions to wear. It's only your second time, and it's not like the first time went very well. She shuddered at the thought of the incident. Stopping in the middle of the lake, close enough to Quinn that she could hear Ophelia but far enough away that she wouldn't accidentally hit her if she decided to do another pirouette, the young Ravenclaw complimented her friend, genuinely feeling every word of it.
"You're a great ice skater." Ophelia hesitated, not knowing if she should continue on with what she had in mind. She didn't want to seem pushy, and she was extremely scared of what it could result in. Why not? I need to learn to push myself out there anyway. Finally, she decided that she should and went on with it. "If you don't mind, do you think you could teach me how to do one of those turns?"☽ •----------------------------------------• ☾

Madison landed her two pirouettes and smiled as she gracefully skated around the ice, narrowly avoiding a girl who played for Gryffindor on the Quidditch team. Madison had never talked to her and didn't know her name but she recognised her from the game that Hufflepuff played against Gryffindor.
Once Madison had skated around the ice a few more times, she put the protectors on her blades and walked off the ice, smiling at Avery as she walked off. She then stood and watched the others skate, because there was a lot on her mind and Madison needed a time out so to speak. Not of the kind a parent gives a child, but more so the kind you give yourself when you need to sort things out in your head, and boy did Madison need to do that.
Madison needed to find a way to reason with her mother. One of the main reasons why she loved spending time away from her family home in an affluent area of London, was because she could get away from her mother, but she missed her older brother and dad. Ice skating helped with getting some of the stuff out of her head, but she couldn't shake it. So much had happened over the holidays that she didn't know where in her head to start. The way her mother had treated her at the Yule had made Madison feel like she was never going to be good enough in her mothers eyes, Madison had tried to be the perfect daughter, she was beautiful, smart, caring, kind, graceful and sweet, she'd helped her mother in so many ways with the beauty she possesses, but all her mother gives her in return is criticism, ridicule and a set of increasingly unreachable expectations in terms of behaviour, conduct and self management when it came to things that Madison was apparently doing wrong.
As she watched Astra, a girl she’d met at The Yule she’d gone to, hosted by the Leverets, hit another girl with a snowball, Madison giggled softly, with her gloved hand covering her mouth. Madison also watched Avery slowly get the hang of his skates, smiling softly, though a lot was still on her mind. Why can’t I shake this, she thought to herself.

Quinn lept into the air and suprisingly did an almost perfect pirouette and landed-without breaking anything-on the ice. Wow-I did it! Quinn thought. Quinn squeeled with joy. She noticed Ophelia coming towards her and smiled. Ophelia looked a little jelous but Quinn knew how to cheer her up.
"Really, thanks! I don't think I am a great skater." Quinn said in responce to Ophelia's praise. Hmm well maybe I could teach her. I really don't know how I pulled off that jump. Quinn thought.
"Well I really don't know how my pirouette went so perfectly, but I would be happy to try" Quinn smiled then thought of how to teach her. I want to try out one of my spells. Quinn thought. Quinn took out her wand. I wonder how green sparks will look around her... Quinn thought.
"When you see-er-green then I want you to start skating into a jump." Quinn said, not quite sure were she was going with this.
"Verdimillious" Quinn muttered pointing her wand around Ophelia. Quinn hoped that she wouldn't scare Ophelia to much. Quinn hadn't practiced her spells to much and she wanted to try this easy one out. Quinn wondered if she should try to skate a little more.

Calming Presence in Effect: All Students & Beast Master Familiars Affected
"HEYAHHHH! LOOK OUT!" The boy dove onto the ice head first, his arms thrown out ahead of him and a huge grin on his face as the ice took his momentum graciously and then proceeded to carry him to wherever it was that it wanted to take him. He wasn't so much concerned about trying to make anything look 'pretty' per say, but he was instead more worried about causing eyes to turn and to cause someone to gasp with either surprise or with delighted laughter. He had no intention of 'looking nice'. How boring.
Zooming past two girls that he had had the misfortune of timing his 'assault' during while they were crossing his past [Madison & Ophelia], Piérre cackled with glee and then offered a very cheeky. "Ay! Watch where you're goin', I'm slidin' 'ere!" Before skidding onwards and feeling the frigid air on his face. Oh if only he could go faster! Faster and faster and faster still! What a delight that would be, what an experience and what an expression of total and unadulterated childish pleasure that so many who have aged have lost.
Light and airy laughter echoed through the air as the boy continued to fly across the area, trying his best to 'flipper' himself until he could slide no more... and soon enough his flight of fancy would end by him taking out the legs of another unfortunate girl, sending him skidding and her falling to the hard ice.
"Ouch! Oh man! Hahahaha! Are you okay?" He couldn't stop laughing, couldn't catch his breath from whooping and hollering so much. Green eyes glimmered and he scooted his way back to her. "I didn't see you at all, hahahaha! Are you okay?! Pffwahahaha?" He tried to help reorient her, to try to help her figure out her bearings after the sudden tumble. She was covered in ice spray. Whoof. "You're having a bad day, huh aren'tcha" A little more fussing. "Well, let's just not stand here where we can get hit some more, hey? Come on, I'll help you up."
So saying, Piérre knelt and crossed his feet at the ankles, trying to stabilize his base so that he wouldn't go spiralling off if too much of her weight was put on him as support. "Use me as support if you have to." He said softly.
Smiling lightly as he tried to help the young girl back to her feet, Piérre felt his eyes wandering unconsciously. He couldn't help the fact that he had such wandering eyes; he always felt that he was somehow missing something important... something pertinent. Something that just had to be seen. And that something that always seemed to have its eyes on his back... That strange feeling of being watched, that sensation he couldn't quite shake no matter how hard he tried to ignore it...
PLEASE NOTE: This is not an actual figure in the event, Piérre's sorta 'crazy' sometimes. There was silver somewhere in his mind's eye that gleamed reflectively somehow in the corner of his external one. Flickering silver. Moving silver with dark and cracked charcoal-shadows. Somewhere. Somewhere there was something that was moving, shining other than the blades of skates. Still smiling, the boy's eyes flicked about, trying to look--trying to search. Where was it? Where in the world was that sensation of eyes on him coming from--those hollow eyes that he remembered only in fragments and disjointed pieces that were more confusing in nature than clarifying? He knew what this thing was by now, at least by the name that he had invented for it; that feeling that he was not alone, that something just wasn't correct. Something, someone was Watching. Nearby, but out of sight.
But where?

Read As: The kid who does 'skating' on the pavement or on frozen water during walks or for fun in normal tennis shoes frequently and almost never falls down on accident.
