English: #000It was the time of year. Inara didn't like it much, since it mostly involved socializing and stuff. Inara nervously walked into the ballroom. She was quite shy, and she normally wouldn't have even come to something like this, except everybody was going, so she decided she might as well go too. Inara was ok with dancing, she just... didn't like asking people to dance, and as this was a partner dance, She was planning to just hang out in the back, and she did so, for a few minutes. It was getting boring, and all her friends had partners already, so she was planning on leaving. As she turned to leave however, a cheerful voice behind her said, "Hello There! Do you have a partner?" Inara spun around to face a Hufflepuff girl whom she had never met before, but she looked like a nice person. "Um, No, I don't have a partner." Inara responded shakily. "Do you- um, want to be partners? All my friends have partners already."Date: 10 February

open to interactions. February 10th, 2024Dancing had never been Pyxis’ strength. It was his fate to be paraded around like a trophy at those swanky and expensive-looking galas that his parents always found time to attend, but he used to be - and still is - quite glad that they’d never made him take to the dance floor of those events. He was sure he’d be stepping on his partner’s toes before the music started playing. Coordination of his arms and legs didn’t come as easy as his lightning fast fingers across a keyboard and he’d long ago accepted that, attempting to avoid any kind of dance-related activity the Hellebores tried signing him up for. Thankfully, there weren’t many.
Pyxis never expected Hogwarts to be the place where his dancing skills leveled up, but he wasn’t going to complain. The boy never needed to worry about money, yet he was strangely excited by the prospects of a free dance class. Interestingly, his thoughts were completely muddled with being able to scrounge something like this without paying a cent instead of focusing on what the class should have been preparing him for - Valentine’s Day and/or the famed Spring Ball that he could never escape the whispers of. Pyxis paid as little mind to these dates as he did with the Fall Ball.
Unsure of what the proper dress code was, the snake showed up to the Ballroom in a simple button-up and slacks. He watched as the Potions professor danced across the floor with the Care of Magical Creatures one and hoped that this errand would be much less stinky than what Professor Blumenthal offered in late October last year. As the pair swung round the room, pairing up lost causes like himself, Pyxis joined the fray. He couldn’t see any lonely dancers for the moment, so he attempted the foxtrot on his own. The steps were more confusing than they looked. Those professionals on Strictly Come Dancing made it look easy… not that he’d ever admit to paying attention to that show whenever his nanny put it on…

"I love you for all that you are, all that you have been, and all that you will be."✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Slowly, I entered the ballroom, wearing a pretty pink dress I had found in my trunk. I thought my outfit matched the Valentines Day vibe quite well. I had attended the fall ball before, that was my first dance, but I didn’t have anyone to go with, so it wasn’t as fun. This time though, this time was different. This time I was going with my best friend from day one here at Hogwarts: Madi McQuade. Also had a dress I really liked this time, so that was good too.
I walked around the ballroom a little bit, I hadn’t actually been in here before. That was kind of surprising but it was only my first year, and I was outside during the fall ball, so I never really had any reason to be here. But I had definitely seen it and walked past it before, like, the numerous times I had done duels and ever so badly lost. But still, I had never been in here before, so it was natural to want to explore.
I’m pretty sure today, we’d be learning to dance, not just like a normal ball. I was okay with dancing, like, I knew some of the basic steps, but not well. Like, I didn’t really even know how to waltz, I could just kind of walk around on the floor with another person and make the movements look… sway-y.
Yeah it would definitely be for the best to learn how to dance, who knows, maybe I’ll need it soon. As I walked into the ballroom, I saw everyone is amazing outfits, but in my dress, I felt amazing. I felt beautiful, like a princess walking in her very own castle. Smiling at the thought, I walked farther into the room, and searched for my friend, whom I would be sharing this wonderful dance with.
I was super excited, like, really excited. I loved dancing so much, and getting to share it with my best friend would be so fun. I would also get to see some of my other friends here probably, I’m sure many people would come, so I’d probably see some people I know and am friends with. I just really wish that I had have been more part of the fall ball, I was mostly just eating there, not dancing, so I feel like I missed out on a bunch. But in my defence, the food was amazing, so, compliments to the chefs. I wish that there was food here too, anuthing like that would be amazing, but what can I say, of course I didn’t expect it.

His deep blue eyes moved from one student to another. With his hands clasped behind his back, the boy twiddled his fingers and hummed a song that only he could hear. He was dressed in brown Doc Martens, a white long-sleeve shirt with rolled-up sleeves, a knitted brown vest, and brown pants.
He watched the professors dance, studying their movements intently. The steps were etched in his memory—each leg, each hand, each sway. He noticed everyone seemed to have already found theirs, and he was starting to feel like a lone, awkward penguin among a flock of swans. He could hear the sound of his shoes squeaking as he moved and felt his toes tapping against the floor. There's something about it that makes him crave to dance as if it were in his bones.
As fate would have it, a girl approached Ethan. Was she approaching him or... someone else? Taking a quick look to see if there was anyone specific she might be searching for, he realized that there was no one in particular. Perhaps she just came here to wait for a friend? Or it's merely a coincidence.
But then, Professor @Sabine Blumenthal nudged them closer. He let out a relieved sigh, grateful for the help from the professor. With dimples and all, his lips curled into a sweet smile as he held out his hand. “Pleasure to meet you. Do you... Do you have a partner already?” he asked, tilting his head. “If not, mind if I ask to be yours?”@Harmony Hollins

Paige stared down at her dress that lay on her bed. It was black and barely reached her knees. It was decorated by black lace that generously covered the top. To add more style to her outfit, Paige had recently bought a pair of laced elbow-length gloves and a small pearl bracelet.
She didn't know if she was ready to attend the class though. Sure, she was a great dancer. But she had never learnt the foxtrot, and Paige was way too shy to do it in front of people. It was the fear of judgement that scared her the most.
Paige had attended the last dance - The Fall Ball. Except she didn't actually do any dancing that time. Mainly because she didn't have a partner until the very end. But by then, it was already too late. Ever since, the boy she had bumped into at the Fall Ball has grown closer to her to the point they are now together.
Paige hadn't seen Kai all day though, so she was scared he would bail on her and she would be standing in the ballroom all alone. As Paige threw the dress on, she took a deep breath in and finally secured her shoes. Closing her eyes for a moment or two, she made her way to the ballroom where she was confronted by a ginormous door. Pushing it open, she was surprised by how many people were already there. Possibly even hundreds!
She searched around for Kai, flicking her eyes in every direction. No sign of him. She had a feeling this would happen. Someone tapped her on the shoulder, and she turned around to see that a familiar person was now towering down on her. "You ready?" Kai asked, holding out his hand. Paige nodded, grabbing ahold of it and following him to the dance floor.
The couple watched the Professors dancing elegantly, examining their every move. It didn't look easy. Both Kai and Paige's jaws were dropped low to the ground. It was going to be a very big night. Neither of them had ever danced with a partner. Paige stared at their feet, examining one foot after the other. Swaying, stomping, kicking. On the other hand, Kai examined their arms. They were as graceful as swans, their fingers generously separated.
They waited for the signal that it was alright to start practicing, and Kai led Paige closer to the dance floor, and they gripped each other tightly. The music began to play, and they were off.

time⠀afternoondate⠀10/02/24outfit⠀elegant dressinteracting⠀@pyxis helleboreDonning an elegant black dress that was designed and tailored to fit her shape perfectly, Arianna Lilly Swann entered the Ballroom with all the confidence and regal air you would expect from a pureblood lady. The young Heiress had been raised to impress, all those arduous lessons on etiquette spent in the manor would pay off at last.
“POSEIDON! I told you; you can't come to the Ballroom. Stop following me for Merlin’s sake!” She paused to scold the handsome black cat that was trotting happily behind her. Poseidon simply cocked his head to the side, a look of fake confusion crossing his features before meowing innocently. She rolled her eyes and continued on with a huff. It seemed her cat had become her shadow the minute she had slid the dress on.
He was hogging her attention, shamelessly nuzzling against Arianna. The white-haired girl did not smell quite right, the cat decided (she had used a different scent for this occasion; sweet rosemary). So in the attempt of marking his territory, the cat had jumped onto her head, rubbing his face into the white tresses with utmost determination.
“You scoundrel.” She grumbled as she picked the cat off her head. The creature gave a yowl of disapproval as he was lifted down, clearly he had not gotten enough of his human
With the grumpy cat dangling safely in her arms, Arianna strode over to the two teachers just in time to see the demonstration for the - what was that again - foxtrot. In contrast to her usual dances, the foxtrot revealed itself to be rather elaborate in footwork, although the girl had seen much harder techniques on pointe. She watched the demonstration from a few feet away, silently tapping out the rhythm as the red and the black twirled and stepped in perfect unison. It was a wonderful dance, really, she had to admit that.
And so the music ended, with her arms empty and not a glimpse of black fur in sight. WHY DOES HE ALWAYS HAVE TO DO THIS TO ME?
Straightening her posture (and determined not to think about Poseidon), she sauntered towards a corner of the Ballroom, flipping her hip-length hair upwards in some unfortunate student's [pyxis] direction. He could easily dodge the brilliant white locks, but if not he might have received a face full of hair, complete with a pleasent scent of sweet rosemary.

Mahlioz had no idea what they were doing here. This was in no way their kind of thing. Valentine's day was coming up - a day she both dreaded and looked forward to (dreaded for the romance side of things, looked forward to for Qrow's birthday), and that meant all kind of pink fluffy events. Like this one.

Thoughts
But there was something different about this one? She actually kind of wanted to learn how to dance. The people in charge weren't overdoing anything, really - love and romance hadn't been mentioned once. It was just a dance lesson. So she was here.
Though slightly late. They'd missed quite a bit of the explanations, but managed to gather what they could from the end of them and the people already dancing. It soon became evident, however, that a dance like this was rather embarrassing without a partner. Well, not that it didn't look embarrassing with a partner too, but definitely less so. Trying to ignore her obvious embarrassment, she did a few attempted steps on her own, trying to get the hang of how the dance worked.
They had danced before, but nothing fancy-shmancy like this. Reltyl had once tried to get her to do a tiktok dance with them (which she had not done very well with), but that was very, very different from this. This was more like something her parents would do; on second thought, maybe this was too romantic for Mahlioz's taste.
It was funny, though. The more they danced, the more okay they felt. It wasn't overly complicated to do, and though it may have looked weird without a partner, and felt like something was missing, it wasn't awful. In fact, Mahlioz even began to enjoy it, sort of. The music wasn't bad, and everyone else was focusing on their own dancing. No one was making fun of each other (from what she could see, anyway). People were just... there. With each other. Taking time to do stuff together. It was, in a weird sort of way Mahlioz was sure no one else cared about right now, heartwarming.
Though they hadn't been expecting this much fanciness, thankfully they'd dressed the part. Ish, anyway. Nice black dress pants that made her feel even taller than she was, a slightly piratey white shirt and a beige sweater vest on top. But an outfit didn't mean a good dancer... especially without a partner. It would probably be a better idea to go back to her dorm and study. ...Later, though. Right now they were having fun.

As Harmony stood and hoped for a miracle, even more students began to trickle in, find their partners, and take off in dance. Fortunately, a miracle came and nudged her potential partner closer. Unfortunately, the miracle came in the form of the two professors leading the class. How embarrassing!10 February
Now face-to-face(or face-to-chest) with the taller boy, Harmony's eyes widened at the suddenness of the situation and her gaze dropped in embarrassment to find … their outfits matched. From the colour to the type of fabric, the two students made a satisfying academia aesthetic pair. Or maybe she was a bit delusional. Delusional or not, Harmony was a Literature student and always one to find hidden symbolism in the world, so she took this happy coincidence with the professor's words of advice and mustered up the courage to look back up, where she was met with an extended hand and a sweet, dimpled smile.
“I don't have a partner.” She took the offered hand with only the slightest hesitation. “And I'd love to be yours.” Partner acquired! And yet, as she stood hand-in-hand with her new dance partner, she realized she wasn't quite sure what to do next. “Do you know how to do this? I've been a bit… distracted”
If her partner had indeed been paying attention, Harmony would gladly follow along with whatever instruction he gave, keeping her eyes up and the professor's advice of having confidence in her mind. If not, well, they'd just have to stumble through it together on their quest to obliterate everyone else on the dancefloor learn the foxtrot.

He held her hand and led her to the dance floor, chuckling, “I am not only capable but eager to show you how it is done.” Once they were on the dance floor, Ethan chuckled again as he looked into the depths of his mind. “Forgive my oversight. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ethan, and you are?”
Ethan scratched his head, doing his best to recall the dance's moves. “Aha, I remember now!” he exclaimed, which sounds more like he was breaking the secret to the greatest puzzle ever solved than someone recalling a few basic dance steps.
“Please lay your right hand over my shoulders,” he said, raising her hand. Quickly, but carefully, he placed his hand under her shoulder without making any contact. “Now,” he continued, pausing dramatically. “I'll take two steps forward and you take two steps backward. Allow me to show.” Ethan paused for a moment again. “Then we move our sides together, closing the gap!” he said, trying to demonstrate as he spoke.
“I apologize for not being the best at helping you with this,” he shrugged, wincing at his inability to describe such a simple dance step.
