May's heart raced with anticipation as she stepped onto Platform 9¾. The magical aura surrounding her was almost tangible, and she marvelled at the wonders of the wizarding world she was about to explore. Being a muggle-born, everything seemed like a spellbinding adventure, and the thrill of the unknown danced in her eyes.

Finding herself a compartment on the Hogwarts Express, May's eyes widened at the beauty within. The plush green seats looked inviting, and the large window offered a panoramic view of the magical landscape. It was a stark contrast to the dull and ordinary trains she was used to in the muggle world.

Then, she met Ash — a whirlwind of energy and cheerfulness. May couldn't help but be drawn to her vibrant spirit. As they settled into the compartment, May observed Ash's swift movements with admiration. The click of the sliding door seemed to seal a bond of friendship between them.

"WOO! WE GOT IT!!" Ash's exuberant voice filled the compartment, and May couldn't help but join in the excitement. Grinning, May complimented Ash, "You're really fast, Ash!"

Ash's response was accompanied by a chuckle, and May playfully nudged her. "And you're drop-dead gorgeous. Got a boyfriend yet?" she teased, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Ash's laughter filled the compartment, dismissing the idea of a boyfriend. May joined in the laughter, nudging her again. "Thanks!! Boyfriend? I don't have a boyfriend. Maybe I'm better off- well- single. What about you tho? And you're so beautiful and I love your hair, 'tis cool!!!"

May felt a connection forming, the magic of the moment mirrored in the blossoming friendship between her and Ash. As the train chugged along the tracks, May couldn't wait to see what adventures awaited them at Hogwarts.

"Nope, I'm single as I ever will be," May replied.

Suddenly, the train started to slightly move, indicating that they were heading towards the next 7 years of awesomeness. They quickly stared a conversation on really anything they could think of; books, music, books, sports, books, future goals and more books (May really couldn't shut up about books.) They had an amazing time, and what had seemed like a few minutes turned out to be a whole 2 hours! Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door and the sent of sugary sweets and chocolate.

"Mm chocolate," they said together and burst out laughing.

Ash realised it had been two hours since she and May boarded the train, though it felt like just some moments had gone by. They were having a nice time, talking, laughing and other fun stuff.
She had never been this happy before; Ash couldn't believe she had got a 'good' friend already and for the first time in her life.
"Nope, I'm single as I ever will be," May replied to Ash, to which she returned a thumbs-up.
"So,"said Ash, cracking her fingers which were her regular annoying habit. "Uhm- how did you get to know you were a witch? And what was your first magical experience? What do you like to do when you're free- uhm- hobbies? I just want to know more about you!"
Ash had barely completed speaking when there was a knock on the compartment door.
She got up from her seat and opened it to find a lady with a huge trolley containing different kinds of chocolates she'd never seen before. Perhaps they could only be found in the wizarding world.

"Anything from the trolley?" said the lady.

"Mm chocolate!" Ash and May spoke together and laughed yet again.
"Want something, May?" said Ash without looking back; her eyes were stuck on two things from the trolley which seemed the most interesting- Chocolate Frogs and Every Flavour Beans.

May smiled as she listened to Ash rambling on. It was crazy how fast they clicked. The train ride was turning out to be a blast, and Ash's company made it even better. She shrugged casually when Ash asked about being single, giving a thumbs-up like it was some kind of secret handshake.

As Ash fired off a bunch of questions, May leaned back, thinking about her magical journey.

"So," started Ash. "Uhm- how did you get to know you were a witch? And what was your first magical experience? What do you like to do when you're free- uhm- hobbies? I just want to know more about you!"

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Ash jumped up like a kid on Christmas morning. May laughed, watching her excitement. The lady with the chocolate trolley brought a new level of magic to the compartment.

"Want anything May?" Ash called out, obviously hypnotized by all the sugar
"Crystalized Pineapple please!" May called back. "Here," she said, throwing a small, navy bag toward Ash, who caught it swiftly. "Its on me."
"Thanks!"

It was a moment of pure joy, and May couldn't help but feel grateful for this unexpected friendship with Ash. Hogwarts was already proving to be an adventure with her around. After Ash had sit back down (and they both had started feasting on the sugary sweets) May started answering her questions.

Ash came back with all the stuff she'd bought and placed it all between her and May and they began unwrapping all those chocolates at once.

My brother had left his wand in my room that day and late that night, lost in a book, I wished for light to read. Somehow, the room lit up, and I realized I'd accidentally made Lumos happen. It was a bit of magic in the quiet of the night and I got caught." Her eyes lit up as she spoke. "And what I like to do, well I like to do a couple of things. Read. Study. Read. Write stories. Read. Calligraphy. Read. Drink coffee. Oh! And did I say I liked to read?" May added sarcastically.
Ash returned her a cheeky grin.

"And I love sketching, doing sports like long-distance running, boxing, blah-blah and most importantly"Ash's face turned Sirius serious. "I love eating chocolates!" And she grinned again.

She unwrapped what said Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and took out a cream-coloured and a yellow bean.

"Woah, this looks cool!" Said Ash, her eyes glittering. "Let's try it!"
"Yes!" Said May and Ash handed her one of them. "Eww!" said May tossing it into her mouth and Ash had the same expression as her."This is earwax!"
"I dunno why but,"said Ash, blinking."Mine tastes like vomit..."
There was complete silence between them for a few seconds, them staring at each other, bewildered, and then they rushed for water and a chocolate-flavoured bean.
When the earwax and the vomit taste had gone and everything was alright, the compartment was once again filled with laughter.

"So you love books a lot!" she said. "Well, I love books too, but I'm not a die-hard fan of books hehe, you're knowledgeable tho" Ash said after they had sat down. "So, is Lumos some kind of spell which emits light from our wand? That was just a guess anyway... I'm a muggle-born so I barely know anything. I discovered magic when I was 10. I took a nasty fall from the stairs and my front teeth were all broken and I looked like a grandma. And then the next day when I woke up, all my teeth were back already."Ash narrowed her eyes."Weird..."And her expression changed back to normal. "And I love sketching, doing sports like long-distance running, boxing, blah-blah and most importantly"Ash's face turned Sirius serious. "I love eating chocolates!" And she grinned again.

May returned the grin, and watched as Ash practically ripped open the box, and handed a weird yellow one to her. She popped it into her mouth at the same time as Ash, and they both squealed. May had a very low disgust tolerance and started complaining straight away.

"Ewww, this is earwax," May half screamed-half puked out.

"I dunno why but mine tastes like vomit."

After staring at each other for a few seconds, both of them jumped to get water and sweets to wash away the horrible taste, and after that, everything was okay and the compartment was filled with happy laughter and giggles.

"This one next!" laughed May, ash she handed a bright yellow one to Ash and took a blue one for herself.

"House colours!" Ash pointed out, tossing it into the air and catching it in her mouth. "Mmm Banana!"

May put her own into her mouth. "Blueberry! Or I think it is. Here, there's a tracker.

"So technically, the speckled ones are gross, got it!" Ash replied as they both burst into laughter.

Those every flavour beans had became Ash's favourite because she'd get to taste unexpected things she'd never tasted before every time. Ash was in love with the banana bean, and a lot more to her unusualness, the dirt and soap flavour bean felt addicting.
"Frogs?" Ash muttered to herself, checking out the Chocolate Frog packaging.
As she opened it, a chocolate-brown frog leapt out for her face and then swiftly hopped away somewhere nobody would ever know. Ash screamed and fell down on the floor, frozen. May exploded with laughter, "That wasn't a real frog, Ash," she giggled and shook her head.
"Uh-oh-" she grinned.

Ash gazed out of the large window. The view outside the window was simply stunning. Never had she ever seen such a mesmerizing view before, even during her time in the muggle world. The Hogwarts Express passed through a picturesque landscape; the hills were dotted with trees. The sun had begun to set, and the sky was a beautiful orange-pink. The clouds looked like cotton candy, and the clear lake beneath reflected the amazing scenery.
At this moment, Ash wished she had her camera there. She was longing to capture the view and show it to her brother later when she'd go back home. But, of course, her parents didn't allow her for the camera.

Anyway, ignoring her feelings and coming back to her senses she turned towards May, whose eyes were at the window too.

"Uhm- you're soo lucky you know a lot about the wizarding world," Ash grinned. "What about lending me some of the knowledge? Hehe. And I heard some guys talking in the Diagon Alley about-er- houses like Gryff-" she moved her eyeballs upwards to remember the house name, but expectedly it was new for her and she couldn't remember it."Never mind... so are these houses like the ones we have in our muggle schools? And would you mind if I make a sketch of you?"

May giggled at Ash's reaction to the Chocolate Frog's prank. "That wasn't a real frog Ash."

"Uh-oh," Ash grinned back.

May looked out the window and met a gorgeous scenery; luscious green hills, sweet meadows filled with animals and the light blue sky, scattered with clouds. She did her favourite thing after reading and star-gazing, cloud-gazing. May looked at all the clouds and made out shapes and animals, objects and people. It was an amazing sight and she sighed contently, feeling like a very lucky person to be able to see this.

Suddenly, she was bought back to her senses when Ash said "Uhm- you're soo lucky you know a lot about the wizarding world, what about lending me some of the knowledge? Hehe. Hogwarts has four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. They're like different families, each with its unique traits and values. It's not exactly like muggle schools, but you'll get the hang of it."

When Ash mentioned making a sketch, May blushed a bit. "Oh! Um- yeah sure, I'd like that. No-one's ever sketched me!

Ash realised May knew a very very lot about the wizarding world; she did, more than Ash had expected. And she was amazing!
Ash couldn't quite get the house names May told her about, but she was sure it was all going to be fun. "So," she said. "What house do you think you're going to get according to the traits? I've no idea what I'm going to get..."

"Oh! Um- yeah sure, I'd like that. No-one's ever sketched me!" May replied to Ash.
Ash hadn't sketched in a while. She reached out for her black backpack from the seat parallel to hers and took out her sketchbook and her pencil.
"Oh," Ash said. "Then I'm going to be the first person to sketch you... I'm honoured!" Ash bowed dramatically and passed a saint-like smile before laughing.

From what seemed out of the window, it was getting darker and darker in no time. The sun was almost set, the hills and the trees which looked green just a while ago were now looking like shadows which ran along with the train and the birds were no longer in view.
The lights in the compartment gleamed up suddenly and everything in the compartment was visible once more.

"Just stay still in the position you want me to draw you... there's no problem if you move your lips, we've to talk a lot, right?" said Ash. "And you can hit me on the head if it takes too long. Uhm- but I hope it doesn't take a lot of time."

Ash passed May another grin before getting all of her concentration into her sketchbook.

"So, the question you asked before, what house do I think you'll get," May started, trying hard not to move. "I mean, you're quite social and sweet, Hufflepuff vibes there, but you are also quite energetic and lively, giving Griffindor, I doubt Slytherin since you haven't been mean yet but maybe Ravenclaw since you're super smart." May knew everything from top to bottom about Hogwarts and she talked in her usual quiet-but-fast tone, not realising it was even harder for a Muggle-born to take in all the information with the way she was speaking.

"..I didn't understand a single thing."

Both girls burst into laughter and May explained in much more detail.

"So, there are 4 houses, I've already told you that, Gryffindor whose house colour is red, Hufflepuff whose house colour is yellow, Ravenclaw whose house colour is blue and Slytherin whose house colour is green. Gryffindors are brave, courageous, and daring. Gryffindors value bravery above all else, often acting on impulse and standing up for what they believe in, even in the face of danger. They're known for their chivalry, nerve, and willingness to take risks."

When she received a slight nod from her very focused friend did she move on to the other houses.

"Then there's Hufflepuff. They are loyal, hardworking, and kind. Hufflepuffs are known for their loyalty and dedication, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. They value fairness and equality, and they're often admired for their patience and perseverance."

After receiving another, more steady nod, she went on to the next.

"Then there's Ravenclaw. They are known for their intelligence, creativity, and curiosity. Ravenclaws value knowledge and wisdom above all else, prizing intellect and wit. They're known for their love of learning and their ability to think outside the box, often pursuing unconventional interests and ideas."

"So the smart kids?" Ash confirmed.

"Technically. Then there's Slytherin. Ambitious, cunning, and resourceful. Slytherins are highly ambitious individuals who are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. They're strategic thinkers who excel at planning and manipulation, often using their charm and cunning to get ahead," May finished. "I think you're a mix of a few of them, but honestly its up to you and the sorting hat!"
