Mae was homeschooled in the mansion due to her parents being fiercely protective of their bloodline, believing that only within their home could Mae's talents be properly nurtured to uphold the family legacy. When Mae received her letter, her father immediately disapproved, he didn't want Mae near "muddled blood" and the school's questionable values. However, Mae's mother thought it would be a good opportunity for Mae to prove her power. After days of tense negotiations, her parents reached a conclusion to let her attend, as long as she followed their expectations: Maintain their family's honor, prove the superiority of pure-blood magic, and return a worthy Slytherin. Once she boarded the train, she remembered the words her father said to her in the station: "Remember, Mae, victory demands cunning and ruthlessness. Never hesitate to strike, when necessary, for weakness is a luxury we cannot afford." The second Mae heard that, she was determined to live up her parent's expectations, no matter what it took.
