The library was in shambles. Bookshelves were knocked onto the ground and like as if a series of dominoes, these great bookshelves were knocked over by a massive child. It was less a metaphor really if one thought about it, their fracas resulted in a single bookshelf toppling over that in turn knocked over the next and in a chain reaction an entire row of bookshelves that ran a third of the length of this gargantuan library were knocked onto their face or respective backs depending on one's perspective. The books that once neatly occupied these shelves were now on the floor. A giant mess, just clutter. It was such a waste of potential magical talent to be fighting among themselves as they were, destructive really. Something he would have expected from all of them except for Mister White. He was such a gentle boy last year from what the headmaster recalled, friendly with that other little girl Rosie. Such a sweet relationship to watch bloom, but something happened over summer recess. The boy that came back was hardly the same, there was a darkness that he had seen in the boy since his return. He had hoped that those months away from Hogwarts would have done him some good but they did not, several months apart only yielded a more troubled boy from the Professor's perspective. it was unfortunate.
Then there were the two Slytherins, true to their stereotypes they were brash and aggressive, foolish and likely with an agenda that Lear could not fathom. They were the likeliest instigators, but there was that young Ravenclaw that slapped the Slytherin girl across the face. He wondered if that was the first blow, had the recklessness been instigated by the Ravenclaw. Too many questions, not nearly enough answers.
Some of the tables and the chairs were destroyed, crushed beneath the weight of the bookshelves that came crashing down so abruptly. The peace of this setting was distorted by the damages done due to the audacious encounter between several youths. Their quarrel was selfish and violent, causing not only property damage but also physical injury to not only each other by the headmaster himself when he tried to shield one of the children from the devastating impact of a five-hundred pound bookshelf (once the books were dislodged that is). Of course Solomon was not the only innocent injured, there were others in the library scattered about. Not many, something he was internally grateful for, but the calamity occurred without warning and three other students were crushed beneath the weight of the bookshelf. Thankfully there was no known loss of life, but there was a great deal of injury. The injured and maimed were taken to the infirmary.
Solomon left the ward three hours ago, an hour after the incident. Solomon's arm was still in a sling despite the magical repair. Even magic was not entirely perfect, nature would need to take its course. The fractured radius and ulna on his left had already knitted together but there was this deep ache that would likely persist for a few weeks. His 'good' hand was wrapped around the head of a cane that he was leaning on. His ankle was crushed beneath the weight of that bookshelf. The leather boot he usually wore was gone, they had to cut it off. His foot was wrapped in a bandage, there was an herbal concoction beneath that carried with it a pungent scent. It was a healing salve, but it was also something that could clear even the most clogged nostril. As the students started to enter he would take a pair of limping steps towards one of the few undamaged chairs that remained and take a seat.
"Thank you for coming," Solomon would announce in greeting as the first few students arrived. His thinning, white hair was brushed back from his face but there was a slight tint of pink that could be seen in the warm lighting. It was blood that he thought he had washed out. His armor, it was leather-wrapped plate, the buttery leather was scarred and the normally smooth appearing plates were dented and warped. Some appeared caved in. Several rips would be seen on his shoulder, revealing the dark metal beneath. It looked as if Solomon had just escaped an encounter with an un-trainable creature that he decided to mate with -- ineffectively.
Solomon appeared tired, it could be seen in his eyes. He also appeared angry. Beneath the glorious beard that adorned the seemingly old man's face was a glowering expression, punctuated by pain as he grimaced and tried to make himself comfortable.
"The library was damaged by a group of hooligan students, whom are presently in the infirmary being treated for their injuries before they are sent to a lifetime of detention," Solomon explained. It was not much of an explanation but they really did not need to know more. The students were going to be dealt with, but first order needed to be restored. "Unfortunately, they are too injured to participate in the clean up," he would look over at Miss Paige if she had made it to the clean up. "Well, most of them at the very least," he gave Ariella the sort of look as if to say she was going to have a very very bad year. "But they will be making amends and compensating House Ravenclaw for their generosity," he proclaimed. Indeed, Ariella was not out of the woods yet.

Seeing the library in such a state was a shock. The blonde spent a good portion of her time amongst the shelves. Her usual table was crushed and splintered, books scattered everywhere and her blue eyes immediately fell on Professor Lear and the cane that he was propped on.
There wasn’t much that she knew about the professor, only that he had a potentially dangerous creature named Greg and it seemed that wherever he went, destruction followed. At least the library hadn’t caught fire but now it was no wonder why he wore armor all the time. Tearing her eyes away from the Professors injuries, her nose scrunched at the smell of the healing salve, she sat in one of the farthest chairs as others trickled into the room.
Another Ravenclaw was already there, a younger girl that she had seen in the common room and Great Hall but hadn’t spoke with before. Dymphna wasn’t sure whether to feel sorry for her involvement or blame her but she couldn’t help the anger that showed in her closed off body language and thin lipped expression. At least one of the students involved would have to participate in the cleanup. Meanwhile, Dymphna herself was fueled by her love for the library and the potential to earn her house some points.
A closer look at Professor Lear, the Ravenclaw realized that he was angry as well. Her arms were crossed, a glare was sent Ariella’s way before she finally spoke in a falsely happy tone. ”Where should we start, Professor?” There was much to do and Dymphna wanted to make sure that the library was tip-top shape before returning to her studies. She didn’t study well in any other parts of the castle. The quiet of the library had become her safe haven.

Phaedra did not appreciate being made to clean up someone else's mess. Perhaps "made" was too strong of a word; no one held a wand against her throat and forced her to come. Her decision to help out the Headmaster was made solely on her own accord, but she had expected something lighter, like filing paperwork or polishing the Headmaster's armour that he seemed to never take off. Of course, she should've known better. This was Hogwarts - a complete and utter hot mess of an institution, and she was somewhat upset with herself for letting the Headmaster's plea for help fool her into doing what she believed was menial, house elf work.
It was too late to back out now. Standing in the middle of the library and seeing the wreckage up close, her jaw tightened. How the hell did this happen? Under a nearby window, she thought she could see what was once her favourite studying spot, crushed by a bookshelf atop it. It could've been much worse, she supposed. As the Headmaster thanked them for coming and explained the situation (though many questions remained), she followed his gaze towards Arabella and too gave the first-year girl a dirty glare.
Expecting she got the message across, Phaedra crossed her arms, and looked at another girl who spoke up after the injured professor was finished. Pretty and blonde, this witch was Dymphna Teague, one of Phaedra's handful of roommates. They hadn't spoken much, but their families did seem to be rather... acquainted.
Finding an adequate place to start would be a smart thing to do. Like the part veela, she too wanted to return somewhere quiet where she could study and rewrite some of her notes. The dark-haired twelve-year-old said nothing, taking her time to look at the debris. Such fragile things, those books were. She hoped most of them were salvageable.

I might as well help out. I have nothing better to do. Samna thought as she walked through the corridors towards the library, humming softly. She had gone to the library only a few times despite being a total bookworm. Being the nice person she was, she didn't mind helping.
Cracking open the doors and poking her head in, Samna scanned the library. Her eyes widened at the damage she saw.
Yikes. I didn't think it would be THIS bad
Tables and bookshelves were in shambles, books were torn and tattered, and a few students were mildly injured. The sight of it made Samna cringe slightly, for she hated injuries of any kind. Noticing some heads turning her way, she gave a quick, quiet wave and shuffled over to a table that was somehow untouched from the chaos. She saw a few other students whom she did not recognize. Being seemingly the only other first year in the room made her a bit uncomfortable, but she wouldn't let that stop her from being of use. Samna turned her attention to Professor Lear, who was also injured. He looked pretty pissed off. Samna didn't blame him. Hearing the Professor explain, Samna caught a glimpse of a familiar looking face. Confused, she took a second look. There was no doubt, it was her.
Ariella? Now what is she doing h- Wait...was she involved with this? Samna didn't realize how much she didn't quite yet know about her newfound friend. Nevertheless, Samana took in more of her surroundings as she waited for her tasks. Her eyes met Ariella's and Samna shot her a quick, confused glance. Hoping she would get an explanation. Was it a prank? An accident? A fight? Whatever it was, it sure took a toll on the library and the people inside it. She sighed, knowing this was going to be a difficult task.

River had just gotten out of potions class. She was walking slowly along one of the many corridors of the castle, her nose in a good book she was reading for the fifth time this semester. She was nearly finished reading it, and was heading to the library to find something new, interesting to read. She had heard some rumors running around, about a fight, which apparently ended tragically. People injured, surroundings destroyed, man.., who would even do such a thing. And at a school? I mean, they're just rumors, she tried reminding herself, as far as she had been aware of, you shoulnd't always believe in those.
She turned a corner, earing the entrance to the library. Weird, people were talking in there, and louder than usual. River couldn't catch what was being said from where she was standing, but she felt a spark of curiosity hit her when she got closer. She was only planning on going in, spot a book she found interesting, and head back out. I hope I'm not interrupting something important, she thought as she neared the doorway she knew too well.
She entered the door, but did not get far into the room before she stopped in her tracks, book dropped to the floo, eyes wide with terror, taken aback by the horrid scenery facing her when she entered. What in the world happened to this beautiful place?, she thought. All those precious books she had planned on reading, but now didn't know if she'd get to any time soon. That's right! It must have been the fight everyone were gossiping about. So the rumors were true? They must have been, I mean look at this place!
From what River had cought, by eavesdropping on what the people had been saying, they were all here to help clean up. Most did not look very happy about it either. Which was understandable. I mean, I really don't want to clean up this mess, created by some people I don't even know, River thought to herself. She did though, want to see the library picked back up together. Maybe I should just join in, and help out too?, she thought. She really did care a lot for the library, and it was a place which had give her so much comfort, she felt she almost owed it. Is that weird? Owing something to a place?, she didn't really care if it was weird anyway. And she knew that if she just turned around and walked back out, that she would feel bad for the rest of the next few days. Oh well, let's just do it then She thought, and continued on into the sad library.

Ariella entered the library. She - oh, and don't forget that oblivious, stupid, idiotic boy Howie, oh, and that bitch Erin, and also Thomas, maybe, because guess what, he didn't exactly help either - they all had helped destroy this library. Ariella was the first to recover from her injuries. She had a slight concussion but bounced back almost immediately - she was the kind to bounce back. However, she was covered in bruises and there was a bad scratch from when the edge of a book cut across her ankle.
"The library was damaged by a group of hooligan students," The headmaster started.
Yeah, that'd be me, and Erin, and Howie, and Thomas. We aren't hooligans, Ariella thought to herself.
"Unfortunately, they are too injured to participate in the clean-up. Well, most of them, at least."
Everybody shot a dark look at her. She noticed Samna, trying to summon a weak smile, but it ended up looking more like a grimace. A very sorry-looking grimace.
Ariella decided to make her way over to Samna. That girl had looked awfully like she needed at least some kind of an explanation, and Ariella was probably the best person to do it. Erin, Thomas and Howie were all too injured to help out, obviously not sharing Ariella's high tolerance for pain and for injuries. However, in the same way, they did not share Ariella's ability to get herself into trouble - and maybe - just maybe - this was the biggest trouble she had ever got into in her life.
"Hey, Samna," she sighed, looking at the mess around all the Ravenclaws.
"I know you'd want an explanation. Here, we can clean up while talking," She continued, grabbing Samna's hand and starting to clean up.
"So it all started when I sat down at a table and noticed two Slytherins. Their names were Thomas and Erin. Erin showed an obviously disliking to me... Thomas, not so much. But anyway, I got into a fight with Erin, and I slapped her. Then she tried to break my nose! And then Thomas slapped the book out of Erin's hand. Then we saw this boy - his name was Howard, but everyone called him Howie the Hufflepuff. Then all of a sudden, he pointed his wand at Erin and sent her flying into the bookshelves, making them tip over. Professor Lear stopped me from getting the worst of the blow, but Erin's foot got crushed, and Howie and Thomas got quite hurt as well."
She took a deep breath. The awkward and cheerful tone she had used in the common room earlier had now disappeared. The joyful Ariella was gone, replaced by a cold, unloving person. She reminded herself of Erin, only less... passionate.
She was not sure whether Samna had noticed this, but she decided to carry on cleaning. Staring at the bookshelves, Ariella realized all the destruction that she - well, not her exactly - had created.
Ariella soon realized she was not like herself anymore.

The library was a mess. An actual mess, and it hurt her heart to see it that way. She’d not seen the room until before the incident was over, and though at first she had hesitated to exit her dormitory and give up just another sliver of her free time, now, in the face of the situation, Cel wished to do nothing but see her former safe haven well again.
Unfortunately, Cel’s sense of organization was dead to her. Books and parchment were sprawled across her desk in her dorm while ink drops stained its surface black, and quills had been scattered over her work as if tossed into the air. Scissors kept getting borrowed as she had lost hers a long, long time ago, and random craft materials popped up occasionally in random places, carried by her clothes or flung out in a rush. Her dormmates had generally accepted her argument of “I’m not messing, everything is just on display so I can find it,” because even if they didn’t she wasn’t about to change anytime soon.
That didn’t mean she couldn't help, though. Just because she never cleaned her desk didn’t mean that she destroyed her belongings, borrowed or not. Cel could only think of what hapless souls had been in here while the so-called contemptible “hooligans” had run around, wrecking the place, shelves toppling like dominos. And what of the librarian? To her, the ambience of the library was sacred. It extended beyond her being a bookworm—the library, her books, they had gotten her past the few terrifying weeks on the streets, not just this library, but the library in Mitchell Park, the library in Oxford. Before that, back before the obliviation, the library in the Selwyn… she couldn’t even remember what it had been named. Certainly not home any longer. And to disrupt the hallowed calm, the stocks of adventure and travel and pure knowledge trashed, not even just the books but the place itself—why, she was nothing short of indignant!
And so the writhing shock and outrage that had arisen in her lopsided eyes settled into a resolved ember. She still had close to no idea what the context of the situation was, and she was aware of her ignorance, yet the young Ravenclaw was more than willing, resolute, even, to help repair the damage to the place she regarded as old friend. Perhaps this was her version of returning the favor… and people would know her to think up such a storm around the simple prospect of cleaning up after a couple of rowdy—very rowdy—students, but one thing was for certain: she could, and would, help.
Certainly the meager girl of eleven years would have some trouble with the heavy lifting. There was no way for her to lift a bookshelf, or move a table, or reach the highest book just by tiptoes. However, she could carry a stack of books all at once, as she had done so many times. She could scale the shelves if she used the outcrops as ladder runs, although that was generally regarded as unsafe and not advisable, and she could screw in table legs, or replace bookshelves, or glue in pages. Yeah, honestly she had no clue what she was meant to do, but the point was that she could make herself useful. “Where do we start?” the girl asked, unknowingly echoing another.

There it was, the library door. Packing books to study for the first time in a long time, Bloom made her way down to the library where she knew she would be spending hours to get back on track with her learning. Opening the door, Bloom was shocked as to what was before her: a mess... No... A catastrophe. It was blasphemy as to what had happened to the library. There were books on the floor looking uncomfortable, shelves bear and pages that were covering the ground. This was never what a library was meant to look like.
Before her were a few Ravenclaws and the Headmaster of the school. Placing her bag down by the front entrance, she made her way towards the crowd. It seemed as though the people around her were willing to help the Headmaster clean up the library. One of them looked familiar: Dymphna Teague. Bloom hadn't seen her since last year when she met her with Reid Kovacs by the lake.
"Hey Dymphna!" Bloom whispered with a small wave of her hand, quickly getting her attention and immediately opening her ears to listen to the Headmaster. It seemed that there were a few students who were a part of the mess in the infirmary and Bloom wondered who they could be. Were they people she knew? Although she was unhappy that there was such a big mess before her, she did hope that they were okay.
Studying or helping... Studying or helping..., Bloom know that the prior was much more beneficial for her future, but she couldn't study in a place that looked like this. The need to help was pushed forward.
Dymphna and another Ravenclaw student asked the right question: where should we start? The Hogwarts library was big and this mess was absurd. Having an idea of where to start would be helpful for such young students taking on a big project. Bloom listened, waiting for an answer from Headmaster Lear.

Only a Ravenclaw would be rewarded with...
The splintered desks, broken and overturned shelves, and tomes strewn about. There was no order, only devastation and chaos. Much of this library's structure was destroyed, yet the most important contents of this space were maintained. The books themselves, misplaced, scuffed and in some cases torn or their bindings broken. The library was more than a place of enlightenment and study, the library was a repository of knowledge. A single book holds much of the consolidated knowledge of a singular subject. Each level on a book shelf held twenty or more carefully maintained tomes. Each bookcase, 15 or so shelves. All sense of order was lost. The noble contents discarded.
High, leaded windows would filter a beam of light into the heart of the room. The candelabra overhead was lit, the cream colored waxy rods hovered inches above the brass bases. The ambiance of the setting, less the tragedy on the floor suggested a place of higher warning. The walls still had portraits of painted ladies, their normally casual expressions contorted into visages of terror and overwhelming psychological trauma. Some were crying on the shoulder of their illustrated suitor, others were simply wide eyed and seemed to want to say something but the words would not come out.
The same question asked more than once.
What were they supposed to do? The task seemed insurmountable. The shelves were by far too massive for the children to try and effectively lift. The desks were completely and utterly shattered, most were likely beyond repair although there were a few that were simply deeply scratched, the table overturned or the leg gone loose. "You could try to recover some of the tables and chairs," Solomon offered.
Furniture:
"Or you could start stacking books," Solomon added. There were just so many books. Some of them greatly damaged. Some of them just misplaced. A remedial task even the weakest Ravenclaw should be able to effectively accomplish.
There were likely other tasks, interviewing or consoling the portraits, trying to raise up the bookshelves that likely weigh way too much for you to succeed.
There was a bit of additional chatter. An explanation that was better than 'this was the work of a few hooligans.' Honestly, the Headmaster could care less who was to blame considering the outcome was the not result of a singular person's foolhardy actions but the failure of several people. An irritable youth being irritated by the callous and reckless actions of another, earned or otherwise resulted in this calamitous outcome that could have done worse than damage a few thousand books. It could have gotten someone killed. It was infuriating how irresponsible children could be. Solomon crossed his arms over his chest in thought. He had nothing to add to Auriella's explanation, it probably happened something like that but none of them were going to escape his wrath.
"That reminds me," added Solomon. There was something more. Of course there was. After all, this was supposed to be a reward and the Headmaster was more than a rumored sadist. "Since you know the story behind the quartet that caused this..." he searched for the best word to describe this "chaos." That was close enough. "And I lack creativity," he lamented. "What service do you think these four should provide to House Ravenclaw?" Yes, he was asking them what they felt their detention should be and how they could compensate Ravenclaw for cleaning up their mess. Mob mentality was often better than the cruelest notion of a caregiver or educator.
How does this work:
Let the dice be your guide. Take care of the books or the furniture and roll a 1d5. You can do this in the Ravenclaw chat with the tatsumaki bot using the command
or you can simply pick one if your heart is set on one of these. Have fun, interface with each other. Get injured. Blame those deviants. As for the question about the detention thread. Come up with something neat. Or... just forgive them. (As if that would ever happen).
High, leaded windows would filter a beam of light into the heart of the room. The candelabra overhead was lit, the cream colored waxy rods hovered inches above the brass bases. The ambiance of the setting, less the tragedy on the floor suggested a place of higher warning. The desks were completely and utterly shattered, most were likely beyond repair although there were a few that were simply deeply scratched, the table overturned or the leg gone loose. "You could try to recover some of the tables and chairs," Solomon offered.
Furniture:
1.) The table has a bunch of deep scratches across the face and is overturned. While the table is heavy if you have a strength score over 4, you effectively lift the table back on all four feet. If not, you try to lift up the table back onto all four feet but you fail to do so and knock over a precarious pile of nearby books that come tumbling down like an avalanche making more of a mess than you started with.
2.) The table is broken in half, right down the center. Some nearby masking tape might prove to be your saving grace. If your agility is over 3 and you are NOT a pureblood, you effectively do this. If you are a PUREBLOOD, your agility must be over 7. If you fail (you are not over the required stat) you tape yourself to something or inadvertently tie yourself up and need to be saved.
3.) A table ended up on top of a mound of books. How this happened? A complete mystery. This table needs to be removed from the top of this pile of books but this requires both strength and stamina. You need to have a strength of at least 5 to lift the table. You need at least 4 stamina to carry the table down the steep decline. If you lack the strength, you try to lift the table and fail in full sight of your peers. If you lack the stamina but had the strength to initially lift the table, you drop the table mid way. If that was not bad enough, the table becomes a crude toboggan. If you have the agility (5), you will dramatically ride it to the bottom. If you do not, you will be run over by said table.
4.) There is a broken chair. The back or the leg is broken off. Perhaps both.
5.) You find a perfectly stable table covered on debris that you easily brush off with your hand and take immediate credit for. More than likely something went wrong for someone else (someone has probably posted with a disaster), feel free to save them.
"Or you could start stacking books," Solomon added. There were just so many books. Some of them greatly damaged. Some of them just misplaced. A remedial task even the weakest Ravenclaw should be able to effectively accomplish.
1.) You find a few broken books. The covers were ripped from the pages.
2.) You find a few broken books but luck is NOT on your side. Some books are mystically protected against vandalism. While you are not the vandal, these books don't know any better and they take flight. Yes, the book flaps like some mutated bird and starts crashing into you. Did I say book? No, I meant books. You are being chased by a flock (yes, that shall be the term for a group of books) of books.
3.) You start picking up books. The books are pretty basic: Pumpkins at the Stroke of Midnight, Twigs, Wigs and Digs: A Fashionitsa's Guide of a Fantastical Wardrobe, and so on...That was not the problem, the problem was what was found underneath. You discover an unconscious student laying beneath a blanket of books. Badly bludgeoned (House of Choice, you may describe them), the poor student had to of been there for a few hours. Oh Merlin, hang on!
4.) Compared to the others, you are doing pretty well. You have been retrieving books like a pro. You have not been assailed by some cursed text. You did not find a near-dead peer beneath a pile of books. Unfortunately, your luck ends there. The pile of books you have been amassing sways. If your agility is over 5, you prevent the books from toppling over. If not, the books come crashing down and you are buried beneath a massive pile of books. You are conscious and can call out for help but you are trapped and need to be saved unless you beat a strength check or find a more creative means of escape.
5.) Nothing has gone wrong. Compared to the others, you are doing pretty well. You have been retrieving books like a pro. You have not been assailed by some cursed text. You did not find a near-dead peer beneath a pile of books. More than likely something went wrong for someone else (someone has probably posted with a disaster), feel free to save them.
Code: Select all

Only a Ravenclaw would be rewarded with...
Bloom, having just come out of detention herself, had some idea of how brutal detention can be. The way these students destroyed the library calls for a detention that should be very much related. Something, perhaps, heavy lifting or related to cleaning. It was only fair. Realistically, having them clean up this library would be the ideal punishment for them, but Headmaster Lear had thought otherwise to help Ravenclaw House successfully acquire house points.
Bloom shyly raised her hand. There was something about the headmaster that sent her chills. Maybe it was the way he looked or perhaps it was the amount of authority he had, nonetheless, she was intimidated.
"A detention I've had... I mean... I've seen others have was to clean the owlery clean of owl droppings. Just like we are cleaning up their mess, they can clean up the owl's," Bloom said quickly. She hated herself for mentioning that she had detention. Now what was she looked like? One of the Ravenclaw delinquents?
After sharing her idea, Bloom looked around and tried to figure out what to do with how to start cleaning the library. She saw near her there was a table that was toppled over. The table looked heavy and while any other person would have asked a friend to help them with it, Bloom walked over and tried to give the table a flip to its side and on its legs.

Using all of her might, she flipped the table over. First on its side and then on all of its four legs. When finished, she felt a little tired. Her strength was not up to par, but she still had more energy to keep going. Shuffling her hands together to physically show a job-well-done, she walked over to Dymphna. "I just did that table," she said, pointing at the table behind them. "Did you want to work together to clean the library?" she asked, realizing that she should socialize with others around her, and realistically, why not with Dymphna. Bloom remembered liking her last year when she met her with Reid Kovacs.
