An unexpected encounter Pv Astra Closed

Astra practically ran from her class, careening around corners and almost bumping into people, yelling "Sorry!" as she went. Her robes billowed out and her satchel bumped against her leg.

Exiting the castle and heading to the Quidditch Training Pitch, Astra grabbed a broom. She set her satchel down gently, a pause in her hectic manner, before straddling the broom and pushing off.

The euphoric feeling of the wind combing through her coarse red hair and blasting against her face caused a broad smile to etch her features. With a whoop, she held her hands in the air. Her legs were secured around the broomstick in such a way that when she inevitably turned upside down, she remained attached to the broom.

Hanging upside down in midair was almost as good as spells.

Astra clung to the broom again, keeping low so as to maximize speed. She didn't know quite what to practice, but he knew she had to fly fast in order to be a good Seeker. She made a few laps, changing elevation and flipping round sometimes, making sure she could spiral one handed on either side. Perks of being ambidextrous.

After an undefined amount of time, Astra sat back, her broom slowing to a halt. The wind had chilled her nose and face and fingers, but it was worth it. Absolutely totally worth every ounce of cold, to be floating so high up, to have a bird's eye view of Hogwarts. It was indescribable.

She realized, looking down, that someone had joined her. A fellow Slytherin, and... She's on the Quidditch team!

Astra pulled into a shallow dive, stopping the broom beside the girl. Mari, isn't it? Second-string Chaser? Astra knew who everyone in the Quidditch team was, though she had yet to meet any in person. Until now, that is.

"You're Mari, right? Second string Chaser?" Astra asked the brunette.

Astra smiled a little. It seemed that with an influx of interesting people who she wanted to remember showing up in her life, her memory of names had gotten better. Hah. Soon I'll be able to remember more than Rodney, she thought, holding back a laugh.

"Oh, I'm Astra Norrick. Not on the team yet, but I'm waitlisted for Seeker," she responded, holding out her hand for Mari to shake. Whether or not Mari shook it, Astra would descend a little lower to match Mari's level better. She had so many questions, about moves and brooms and games and all. Books and Quidditch were things she could talk endlessly about, but she was able to keep the torrent of words down.

"Say, what broom do you have? What's it like?" she asked, flying round the broom for a quick look over. Looked like a Nimbus, couldn't be sure. She really only recognized the pro brooms, like the Yajirushi or the Starsweepwer XXI. "Fast? Good for chasing?" Chaser and Seeker were the most alike positions on the team, so Astra figured a Chaser's broom could very well work for a Seeker.

Shush, let her talk. She may not even want to talk Quidditch. So just shush and let her answer, jeez.

Astra listened quite intently to the broom description, adding it to the list of good first brooms. Eventually, she wanted to get a Firebolt or something, but that would take a lot of saving and she didn't want to use a school broom for more than a year if possible. "It sounds like a great broom," she commented, briefly flying underneath the second year to get to her other side. "Right now all I have is the school broom, but there was a nice Comet 180 at Quality Quidditch Supplies that I was eyeing." She shrugged. "Someday, I want to get the Firebolt. That's the dream."

That was a crazy story of how she got her first broom. "Woah. And you were able to just get it and go like that? How did the game turn out? Did you get to play at all?" Astra asked, the barrage of questions flowing freely without hinderance. "Was it weird? Flying a brand new broom just, on the fly like that?" She was highly interested and it showed. For a moment, her mind wandered to the actual Pitch, the game she had watched (go Vipers! Yay win!) and imagining herself instead of Dan Palmer out there, chasing the Snitch through the air, on a Firebolt. Lovely daydream. Hopefully to be reality.

But back to actual reality. Astra had her full attention on what Mari would say next.
