2023/24, Stage 1 Ravenclaw vs Slytherin: Match 7

Finally, her spell hit. The boy had been very close to dodging it, but still. 2 out of the 3 Slytherins had focused on dodging and hadn't attacked, which was good news for them. The snakes had resorted to defensive play, which gave Samantha more confidence (something she definitely doesn't need more of). "We are so close. We are almost there," she called out to her team mates. She could feel Bea's frustration, so she gave her captain a small smile. "We'll be fine!"

What happened next is not as dramatic as the other rounds. Leveret and Evethisawe is choosing a saver route by focusing their energy on evading. And they surely guessed it right when all the opponent’s wands are pointing at them. While plenty of spell are flying at them at high speed, they manage to evade most of them except for Salwis bloody spell that grazed Leveret by an inch. Leveret bodied half of it, even so it still looks like a full blown knockback jinx had hit him. What a brute. For Pea however, as none of them actually focusing on her now, she gave another go at Zaphiere. painfully, the spell missed by barely an inch.

Lea knew a bit of how this would go, much like it had previous rounds. Her focus would be towards the second years once more, waiting for the new volley of spells and seeing if they would survive this time around.

Zach seemed to be having some remarkable luck and skill- the flames would head in his direction from Mahlioz and Pea yet neither would find anything to burn as he kept enough distance, the Incendio easily sidestepped while the more powerful version almost grazing by yet seeming unable to ignite this time before it vanished, leaving only the heat as an indication of just how close it had gotten. He was far more slippery than first impressions suggested.

Avery was another common target, though clearly he knew this too as he opted to dodge once more rather than cast a spell of his own. Zach's spell was a bit of a surprise though, succeeding in both departments of dodging and aiming. A Knockback Jinx, aimed directly at Avery's chest where he could only throw himself from it so far. The hit could have been far worse without his surveillance and preparedness but it would still hurt, leaving the Slytherin on his last legs as Beatrice aimed her own Flipendo at both him and Mahlioz. Thankfully for him, two opponents was hard to concentrate on and while the spell flew in his general direction, the boy could easily slip out of the way. Just barely holding on consciousness.

Mahlioz could not say the same thing. Not only would Beatrice's spell split and veer in her direction, but Samantha also shot her own Knockback Jinx towards the young Slytherin. Her wand could only offer a warning so many times, turning her attention to keep out of the way of that spell while seemingly losing track of the other spell and only trying to get out of the way once it was too late. Her dodging had come to an end as the hit connected and the girl crumpled to the ground.

"PAUSE!" Lea would shout. Rainclouds had no understanding of pausing nor were they in the way to further hurt the fallen Slytherin, but it also wouldn't strike down on any of the Ravenclaws as mediwizards came in to help and escort Mahlioz to the Hospital Wing. It wasn't a pleasant thing to experience waking up there, but it was a rather common experience.

"Alright. Everyone set? And- resume!"

	----- Bollocks, he thought. Well it was sure to happen at one point. The Birds put on an all-out offensive and it paid off for them; and whilst the Slytherin side had seemingly worked to the melody of a decent strategy, it wasn’t quite excellence; and the Birds were able to hamfist their lead from their grasp. Avery’s legs shook slightly as he coiled from the blow, he was teetering on the edge, just as Mahlioz had gone down. In the pause, he blew air into his cheeks and shot a look to Pea. “You’ve not lost me yet.” He gave, though he knew that would be short lived’ he wanted to spur her on. They could still come out of this, with a bit of luck…

Crashing colours fell through the sky of the dueling room. But it was not as magnificent as she had thought. That familiar color of sparks that she saw hundreds of times aimed at her teammates. As the spell hits it targets it looks like fireworks exploding in her eyes. She knew that everything did not go the way she wanted. Evethisawe have crashed unto the piste. While Avery looks like he would not be able to take another hit. Now it almost looks like its gonna be a flock of birds fighting against the lone fowl. Very well. The white haired clenched her wand tightly as what is going to happen next is not gonna be pretty.

Finally she hit!! She'd missed Avery but all in all it didn't matter. The more important target of Mahlioz had taken the brunt force of her spell. Bea squealed in delight, dancing a little on the spot. Late was better than never. It finally, finally seemed their luck was turning. Zach and Sam were both still standing and her team had taken the advantage held by the Slytherins. Now they just had to keep this up.

Something good was finially happening and it looked a bit better for the eagles. Now that they had one less opponent, it should be easier for them to win. Samantha had hoped they would have won way earlier but it was fine. They still had time. Naturally, the brunette was a bit annoyed that her target had dodge her spell. Still, it didn't matter. The other student was hit by another spell and removed from the stage.

Zach could see the bright result for his team. No attack from the other side hit any of them. Bea's attack also wiped one of them out from the piste. Zach's Flipendo also hit the other boy from the other team, even though it wasn't a full hit since the boy actively dodge the attack.

This good result somewhat scared him, especially after the unfortunate events that punched them in the early rounds. Would he stand still until the last round? Could his team win?

The opportunities ticked down with each round, yet the remaining duelists would finally get their chance to all strike. Perhaps they were taking 'ending it off with a bang' seriously.

Zach, with his seemingly primary opponent gone, would look towards Pea instead. He'd opt for the Wind Jinx this time around and after just barely casting it would the hit follow the same pattern of just barely catching her within the gust. The Slytherin would still be limited on options to escape other spells, but Lea knew it could have truly trapped her if given the chance.

The other Ravenclaws would follow suit to target Pea, although Beatrice would keep her attention on both targets as she tried for a strong Flipendo. Tried- and succeeded. The blast shot across the piste with surprising speed, catching Pea off guard as she stumbled under the impact and fell. Avery would have better luck than his partner, moving out of the way so as to not get knocked down himself. Yet with Pea stumbling, Sam would take the opportunity for her own strike as Pea had little space to escape and would be forced to take another hard hit.

The Slytherins would not be without their revenge though. Both would go for Wind Jinxes, looking to both incapacitate and injure their opponents as Avery directed his attention towards Sam. His precision and focus truly culminated in this cast, leaving the older Ravenclaw no chance to escape as the gusts kept her at bay. Pea would turn her gust to the youngest Ravenclaw, finding that he had stood wavering for long enough. Her cast was strong and confident, yet Zach would still almost keep out of the effects' reach. Almost. The last of his strength left as the wind pushed him back and he toppled to the ground. The cloud rumbled overhead yet would not strike as Lea once more called out, "PAUSE!"

Medics would once again come up on the block to care for the Ravenclaw and take him to the Hospital Wing, leaving the remaining in a 2v2 for one final round. "Just a little longer. Everyone ready? And resume!"
